AJ sat upside down on the couch in the living room, skimming through his comic book. The nineteen year old was enjoying a pretty peaceful day. No giant monster attacking the city, no mutants messing with his family, no angry big brother looming over him. Just a nice quantity day chilling with his girls at Janna's place.
Speaking of which…
"AJ, we're boooored!" Nia whined, pointing as she poked at his cheek. Unlinke AJ, the blond hadn't quite been able to keep herself busy, so the lack of anything going on today was getting to her. And she wasn't the only one. Jia sat on his other side, looking bored as she blew Sol's tail feather up and down from her face.
The boy clicked his tongue before flashing his comic towards her. "You want to check this out with me? It's a brand new issue," he said. He had been reading the adventures of the Silver Sentry since he was a kid. It was his uncle Mikey's favorite comic, and he still had the one he'd given him when he was a kid under his bed back home.
Nia looked at the cover and then hummed. "I don't know. Doesn't look all that interesting," she said. She never really saw the appeal of a lot of the comics he read. She would rather watch cartoons or movies if she was being honest.
AJ narrowed his eyes. "It's totally fun. Silver Sentry is like one of the coolest, most retro comic book heroes out there," he argued.
Jia giggled from her spot on the couch. "It's cute when you get all angry over nerdy stuff," she said. One second he was running people over on the ice in hockey, the next he was cracking open comic books. AJ Jones was both a jock and a nerd, and she found it pretty amusing. And kind of cute.
The young man snorted. "Whatever. I can just appreciate awesome works of fiction. That's why I'm not the one who is bored right now. I got superior taste and whatnot," he said as he turned back to his comic.
Nia stuck her tongue out at him teasingly, and then looked over towards Jia. The other girl caught her eye, and in that moment they both seemed to have an idea on how to kill their boredom. Jia glanced down towards the comic and then back up at the blonde, just to make sure they were on the same page. She got confirmation when Nia smiled back and nodded.
AJ continued reading, when suddenly the comic was pulled from his grasp. He looked up towards Jia who was now on her feet, holding his comic in her hand. "Uh, what do you think you're doing?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Finding a way to stop being bored," Jia said, shrugging her shoulders.
AJ snorted and then rolled off the couch. "Yeah, very funny. Hand it over," he said, moving towards her. Jia stepped back, still holding the comic up teasingly. AJ moved forward a bit quicker, making to grab her, but Jia suddenly tossed the comic over him to Nia, who caught it with a giggle.
"Gonna have to be quicker than that," Nia taunted.
AJ crossed his arm. "Oh, so that's how it's gonna be?"
"Nothing kills boredom like a good ole fashion game of keep away. Zhǔnbèi hǎo?" Jia asked, looking towards Nia who nodded. The blonde laughed and nodded before zipping off. Jia moved at the same time, and they passed by each other as she flipped over the couch.
AJ looked back and forth between them. Dang it, which one had the comic? Did Nia keep it, or did she pass it off to Jia? He sighed and then cracked it neck, deciding it didn't matter either way. He'd just catch both of them. "You two are so gonna get it!"
"Not if you don't catch us first!" Nia shouted back with a giggle.
He rolled his shoulders back before he smirked and took off after them.
AJ made his way through the house thinking about where he should look first. He didn't think they would go to the kitchen. Too obvious for Nia, and Jia wouldn't go there knowing that either. They weren't going to the basement since Janna kept all of her stuff in there, and they didn't know or want to know what she had stored away.
They definitely wouldn't go to Astro's room since Sear would pick up their scent and he would start asking questions. And they both thought the attic was gross since nobody ever bothered to clean it out, so he could probably count that at to. That didn't leave a whole of of places left.
He made his way into Nia's room, looking around carefully. He had decided to go after Nia first since she would be harder to actually catch. Jia would be way harder to find, but once he did he didn't think it would take too long.
Under normal circumstances, he never would have been able to go into Nia's room. Not without Astro breathing down his neck anyway. But since he was out on a mission and Janna was… well, he never knew where Janna was, it was just them. And he just had a feeling Nia would hide in here.
He opened her closest, but then quickly blushed and closed it when he spotted one of her bras. He was almost certain she was in here, and it wasn't like he hadn't seen this stuff before. But he still didn't want to seem invasive. He let out a breath and then looked towards her dresser. Most people would think she wouldn't hide in there, but she had plenty of weird spells that could change her size.
But he wasn't willing to go digging through her stuff. He was almost sure he'd find something he didn't want to. Or something he did but shouldn't have. He didn't sense anything weird coming from it anyway. He rubbed his chin and kept on looking around. She wasn't behind the curtains. And the windows were open but… she was probably staying in or near the house at least.
Then there was… no, she couldn't have picked that spot. Even she wasn't that bad at hide and seek. But maybe…
He floated up for a moment and then concentrated. His mom had been teaching him some more subtle but useful tricks with his powers, and this seemed like as good a time as any to bust them out. He made an illusion of himself, one that looked around curiously before walking out of the door. He used his powers to make it look like he closed it behind him.
Then he heard a giggle from under the bed.
"Ah-Ha!"
AJ floated up higher and then lifted up Nia's entire bed. The blonde gasped and then looked up to see him smirking down at her. "Uh-oh!" She shot towards the window, but he swung his hand down and it closed before she could get out. She suddenly turned around and made for the door, but then AJ moved one of his fingers.
Her bed sheet shot off the mattress and suddenly wrapped around her like a bag, and he spun his finger causing it to tie itself up at the top. "Hey!" Nia said as she thrashed around inside of the sheet. It would have been easy to just tear through the thing with her powers, but… this was good linen.
AJ leaned over the sheet and hummed. "So blondie, gonna tell me where Jia is hiding?"
"I don't know! And even if I did, I'd never talk!"
"That right?" The sheet suddenly opened itself up, and Nia squealed as AJ wrapped his arms around her. He kissed her cheek, and then Nia blushed and looked up at him confused. "We're gonna see about that. I have ways of making you talk," he said, a devious expression on his face.
Nia grew a nervous expression on his face. She didn't know what he had planned, but she got the feeling that she was in trouble.
Jia sat on the roof of the house, looking over the comic Nia had passed her when they sped off. She hummed as she skimmed through the pages. She had been getting bored waiting for AJ to come, and she had started reading through it. To her surprise… it was actually pretty good.
She wondered if he would let her actually borrow some of them sometime. She didn't see any reason to spend any money on it if she could just read his.
"Jia!"
The girl looked up and then saw Nia making her way onto the roof. "Oh hey. What took you so long? Did you get caught?" she asked with a smirk.
Nia nodded as she rubbed her butt. "Yeah, he caught me. I guess hiding under the bed is a little unoriginal," she said pouting. "He gave me such a spanking. I don't think I'm gonna sit for a week," she whined.
Jia clicked her tongue. "Under the bed? C'mon Nia. You have to do better than that. I would have thought you would pick up something from me after all these years," she said. She had always been pretty good when it came to laying low and staying hidden. Breeze had helped her get even better back when she was her squire.
"I know, I know. But you can stop hiding now. AJ said he isn't coming after you anymore," the blonde said gesturing down towards the house.
Jia stood up and raised an eyebrow. "Really? He's not after me anymore? Yeah right. He's just trying to get me to come down so he can catch me. A nice try, but I'm not falling for it," she said, shaking her head. He wasn't gonna get his hands on her bottom that easily.
Nia tilted her head. "Well, I don't think it's a trap. In fact, I know it's not a trap. Because this is the trap." In an instant, the blonde suddenly vanished into thin air, and Jia looked confused.
"Shenme?"
What had just happened? Where did Nia… wait, that wasn't Nia! She turned and was about to call for Sol, but suddenly AJ appeared behind her. "Got you!" he said, wrapping his arms around her.
Jia squealed as he laughed and held her up in the air. "Pianzi!" she said, pouting as she looked back at him. He had made an illusion, one of Nia. She didn't think he could do them that well yet. "How did you know I was up here? Did Nia tell you?"
AJ shook his head. "Nope. Even under the harshest of torture she wouldn't sell you out," he said before nodding towards the comic. "Lucky for me mom taught me clairvoyance a while ago. Can't do it on people yet, but I can do something kind of small, like a comic book."
Jia clicked her tongue. "Sounds like cheating to me."
"Sounds like sore loser talk," he responded, giving her a kiss on the forehead. She blew a raspberry, and he held her tighter and rested his chin on top of her head. "You do know you two are totally gonna get it, right?" he asked, a devious smirk on his face.
Jia smirked back up at him. "What are you gonna do?"
"Well, I really thought about giving you and Nia a good spankin', but then I thought of something better. Since you two seem to find playing keep away so funny, I thought I'd give you something to laugh about."
Jia looked at him confused. "Huh?"
"HAHAHAHAHAH!"
"BWAHAHAHAHA!"
AJ sat back and smirked as his girlfriends, who were kicking and squirming as the floating feathers around them tickled them all over. He had his hand held up, using just a bit of his psychic power to hold their hands in place, while he used the other to move the feathers around them.
"Hahahah! S-stop! I'm gonna pass out!" Nia cried, kicking her legs out wildly. She'd been getting the tickle treatment since before he went to get Jia, and she wasn't sure how much longer she could hold out.
Jia threw her head back in laughter. She hadn't been at it as long as Nia, but AJ seemed to be making up for it by focusing on her more intently. "Ha! I give! Haha! I give, I give!" she cried.
AJ ignored them for a bit longer, finding himself having a little too much fun. This was honestly a way better way to pass time than reading a comic book. Eventually he did finally decide to relent, and the feathers stopped in midair. The girl both gasped and quickly tried to catch their breath.
"Oh my stump, thank goodness," Nia said.
"Finally," Jia breathed.
"Don't get comfortable. This is just a little break. I'm ain't done yet."
"Aw!"
"C'mon!"
AJ stepped forward towards them. "Hey, I told you two you were in for it. Besides, it's better than sitting around being bored, right?" he asked.
Jia narrowed her eyes. "Shuōhuǎng. You're just having too much fun."
He shrugged. "A little," he admitted. "By the way. How'd you like the comic? I saw you reading it up there, and you looked totally hooked. Bet it was way cooler than you thought, huh?" he asked.
Jia blinked, opened her mouth, and then thought for a moment. "If I say yes, are you gonna let me off the hook?" she asked, smirking.
"Yeah… no," AJ said amused. He leaned down and gave her a kiss, which she gladly returned. He then moved over to Nia and did the same. The blonde hummed pleasantly before AJ stood back up. "Anyway, bet you guys won't be playing keep away with my stuff anymore, eh?" Nia and Jia both shared a look, and then turned back towards him.
"Probably," Jia said bluntly.
"Most definitely," NIa said, nodding. "And I still think the comic is boring."
AJ blew a raspberry. "Guess we're gonna be here a while then," he said, moving his finger. They could see the feather around them start to move again. "Breaks over."
"Okay wait! I changed my mind!"
"Nüèdài kuáng!"
"HAHAHHAH!"
"BWAHAHAHA!"
Nia and Jia both laughed and wiggled. Years of tickle fights between the three had meant AJ knew their most ticklish spots, and he was putting that knowledge to use. Sometimes having such mischievous girlfriends could be a little nuts. Well, actually totally nuts, but also really, really fun. And he was thankful for it.
This was hands down way more entertaining than reading comics.
A/N: Some older AJ/Nia/Jia content! AJ really should have seen this coming. When Nia and Jia are bored they're just bound to make their own fun. But being mischievous comes with a price, and I think AJ is having too much fun to let them off the hook that easily lol. At least he might have made a comic fan out of Jia though.
