Nenet yawned as she made her way through the halls of the Butterfly castle. She had come to mewni to tag along on another adventure with the King's Crew, and afterwards she had gone back with Lars to have another 'sparring' session in his room. After they had gone a couple of rounds she had decided to head to the kitchen and grab something to eat. There was almost always something good in the fridge at this place.

She made her way into the kitchen and was a bit surprised to see someone already there. For a moment she thought that she was going to have to back pedal out of there. Seeing King Astro or Queen Maria and Amber was sort of awkward since they didn't have to think too hard to figure out why she was here this late.

But she calmed down when she saw it was just Bergljot. The redhead was looking inside of the fridge, trying to find something to snack on. "What are you doing here?" she asked without even turning around.

Nenet clicked her tongue and then walked further. "Just here looking for a late night snack. Same as you. So, you find anything good in there?" she asked.

Bergljot grunted. "Nothing I can touch."

Nenet leaned over her shoulder. "Oh shit, chocolate cake."

"Don't touch that, it's Aqua's."

"Ah…"

Even Nenet knew not to mess with anything that belonged to the youngest of the Butterfly siblings. "Found it," Bergljot said before pulling something out. It was a plate with large pieces of pig-goat piled on top of it. She turned around, kicking the fridge closed behind her, and then set it on the table before taking a seat.

"That Lacerta's?" Nenet asked.

"Yeah."

"Nice."

Nenet took a seat down beside her and didn't think twice about digging in. Lacerta was part of the reason she was so damn hungry right now so he shouldn't have had any complaints. She ripped a piece off and took a bite, she and Bergljot just sitting in silence for a bit while they ate.

After a bit, Nenet started to glance over towards the redhead. She had known her for a while, but there honestly wasn't much she knew about her. She was blunt, straight forward, and had a temper. She could also put up a hell of a fight. But those were things anybody could pick up after a day or two.

She hardly knew a thing about her personal life. Well, besides that she spent most of her time with the King's Crew. Lacerta said she came from the Norse pantheon, but she had never heard of her. Not that the Greeks and Norse were particularly close, but she figured she would have heard something.

Plus there was still that weird aura around her.

"Could you stop staring," Bergljot said, annoyed.

"Sorry," Nenet said, yawning. "Was just thinking about some stuff… you mind if I ask you a question?" Bergljot raised an eyebrow towards her, as if questioning herself what the other girl could possibly want to know from her. But she hadn't said no so Nenet took that as a green light. "Why are you here in mewni?"

"Because it's where Thor told me to go…"

Nenet raised an eyebrow. "The thunder god? Why listen to him?"

"Because he's the leader of the pantheons. And… I owe him. There's no further reason needed beyond that."

"Yeah, but like… why? If you're part of the Norse pantheon, shouldn't you be in Asgard or whatever? Why send you all the way here. So far from home?"

Bergljot looked back down at her plate, looking like she was lost in thought for a moment. "It's complicated," she said. Nenet waited for her to continue, but she didn't. So she supposed she just didn't want to talk about it anymore. She also got the feeling she wouldn't appreciate being pushed on the issue either.

"Alright, that's fine. I mean I get it," Nenet said, shrugging her shoulders. Bergljot let out an amused grunt, and Nenet frowned. "No, seriously. I do. I know how complicated shit can get with the pantheons and everything. No offense but… the gods can be kind of dicks. Even to their own."

Bergljot looked at her curiously. "What pantheon are you from?"

"Well, technically I'm from the Egyption pantheon, but I'm trying to make a name for myself with the Greeks."

Bergljot bit back a scoff. The greeks? Even she knew how much of a blood feud they had against monsters, especially titans. She wondered just how she had even gotten close to them without one of them trying to skin her alive. Nenet could tell what she was thinking just by the expression on her face.

"I know right? I mean, Lacerta old man and Queen Nia helped to settle things down when they took over Mewni and Avalon. But there's still a lot of shit to sort through," she said as she slumped forward slightly, taking another nibble of her food. "They really do hate monsters. Like a lot. Guess old habits just die hard."

Bergljot crossed her arms. "Hera doesn't hate you?" she asked. She was the leader of the Greek now. She would have figured the leader of such a stubbornly titan hating pantheon would… hate titans.

"Nope," Nenet answered. "But that's because she used to be human. So she's one of the exceptions to the rules though. I mean, on my Egyptian side I'm a descendant of Ra. I have princess status. But you wouldn't know it most of the time. Ra and my aunts treat me pretty good. But the rest of the pantheon still looks down on me."

"And the Greeks don't?" Bergljot asked. She didn't know why one pantheon would be better than the other. What was the point in serving a place that hated you?

Nenet hummed. "I mean, there are assholes there too, plenty of them. But I mostly help out because of Hera," she explained. "She was the first one outside of my family who didn't see me as some monster or accident. She treated me like a person. Plus, I owe her a lot."

"But you said she's the exception. You still have to deal with the rest of them."

"Yeah," Nenet said, frowning. "And they sure as hell don't make it easy. I don't regret working for Hera because she's always looked out and done right by me, but I still always have to watch my back around the rest of the Greek Gods. You know, the reason I found out about my full god form so early is because of them."

Bergljot looked confused, and Nenet continued. "When I was little these titan hating gods showed up and kidnapped me. I don't know if they were trying to send a message to my family and Hera, or they were just pissed that a Titan was polluting their pristine godly gene pool. But there wasn't really shit I could do back then. I thought I was done for," she said. "But then, I transformed and managed to fight my way free. I guess it was some fight or flight instinct or whatever. Hera found me, healed me up, and brought me back."

She turned around and then pulled the back of her shirt down, revealing two lage scars on her back where her wings usually sprung out. "Still got these from the first time I went full goddess mode. Those wings looked pretty, but they hurt like a bitch whenever they come out," she said amused.

"And Hera still decided to let you work for her after that?" Bergljot asked.

Nenet nodded. "Yep. She named me her champion. I think it was partly because she felt guilty about the whole thing. But the rest of them threw a damn fit over it," she said. Bergljot was hardly surprised by that. A titan being named the champion of Hera probably came off as insulting. Or just downright foolish.

Bergljot grunted. "I'm guessing they have a few things to say about it."

"A shit ton. There's 'it', 'Hera's pet mutt', 'abomination'. I could go on for hours about all the shit they call me behind my back. Or sometimes to my face," Nenet said.

Bergljot scowled. "If that's the case, then why do you still do it? Why work for her and be champion when everybody else hates you? What's the point?' she asked.

Nenet looked at her with a determined expression. "Because even if the shitty gods outnumber the good ones, I'm not gonna let them win. If I just punk out and let them make me quit, what would be the point? To hell with that. I've worked to fucking hard to give up now. Besides…I wanna make sure that what happened to me doesn't happen to others. A kid shouldn't be taken from their home and killed just because of the number of hearts they have…" she said. "I'm gonna become the goddess of monsters."

Bergljot stared back at her blankly. She didn't know why there needed to be a goddess of monsters when Astro was already here, but maybe she knew something the redhead didn't. "Hmm… why did you feel the need to tell me all this," she asked before taking another bite of her food.

It wasn't as if she was annoyed by it, but she was kind of curious as to why Nenet felt in such a sharing mood all of a sudden. Especially after she had withheld information about her own situation.

Nenet shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. I just… I felt like you might get it. I mean it's not like Lars and the guys get it. They have this place. It's like titans central, so even though they get shit too they still have a place, you know. And my family is sort of in the same boat too, but they got their own things going," she explained.

"But Lacerta said you got sent away from your own pantheon. I don't know the details and shit but I'm guessing you probably didn't fit in there either. So I just thought me and you might be in the same boat," she said.

Bergljot looked down at the table once again. Given her background and circumstances, it was hardly a surprise that those in her pantheon were weary of her. They hadn't said much to her out loud since they knew she was under Thor's protection, but they muttered under their breaths when they thought she couldn't hear them.

And then there was Odin. He wasn't hostile towards her, but he didn't hide his suspicion of her either. Ironically she fit in more here on Mewni than she ever did in Asgard. Which wasn't saying much, but still. "I guess. Though I don't really care what the rest of the Norse gods think of me," she said bluntly.

Nenet held the pig-goat leg she was eating up. "Cheers to that. Fuck the haters. They can go straight to hell… or wherever gods go when they die."

"They get reincarnated," Bergljot said bluntly.

"Oh right, I forgot about that shit," she said, rubbing her chin. "Well I bet the wait to come back sucks anyway, so you know… fuck em." Bergljot clicked her tongue and then began eating again, and Nenet soon joined her. "You know, if you ever feel like talking about stuff or getting things off your chest, I'm all ears."

Bergljot hummed. "Not likely…" She wasn't the type to really open up with personal issues like this. Her secrets were going to stay just that. "But... thank you for the offer I guess. I'll keep it in mind."

Nenet smiled and nodded back as they went right back to eating. "So, how pissed do you think Lars is gonna be that we ate his stuff?" she asked.

Bergljot shrugged. "Don't know. Don't really care much either."

Nenet smirked. "I knew there was a reason I liked ya Bergy!" she said, giving the redhead a smack on the butt. Bergljot looked surprised, but then grunted before going back to eating.
