Franny had noticed that Beat rarely ever smiled off the volleyball court or stage. If he wasn't playing or performing (or punching someone who'd done something to cross him), he usually just had a scowl or sneer on his face. Not that she had a problem with that. Something about that bad attitude of his seemed to draw her to him every bit as much as his more expressive moments did.
But still, when she had seen him in the halls with a genuinely happy smile on his face, she knew something had to be up. For a moment she wondered if something had happened to her brother. Knowing how much he irked Beat it was entirely possible he got a kick out of watching him fall down some stairs or something.
She didn't get much time to ponder over it however, as he walked right up towards her. "Yo Franny, are you busy after school?" he asked.
The blonde stared back at him for a few moments, and then blushed. "W-what?"
"You got wax in your ears? I'm asking if you're busy after school," he said, still smirking.
Franny did her best not to look as caught off guard as she felt right now. "Why?" she asked. Not that she had anything to do but… was he asking her on a date? If so then she wasn't prepared for this. Not mentally or… in any other way really. She was totally blindsided.
Beat looked rather smug. "Can't tell ya. It's a surprise. But it's pretty damn awesome, and I figured you should know first since I owe ya one for helping me out with my last song. So, are you in or not?" he asked.
She looked rather conflicted. On one hand, if this was a date then… isn't that what she had wanted? On the other hand if she went in blind she could screw the whole thing up. It was just so sudden. How in the heck did he expect her to just-?
"Yo!" Beat said, snapping his fingers in front of her face. "The hell are you racking your brain over this for? It's a yes or no answer. If fine if you got something to do, but I'm not gonna stand here all day while you space the fuck out."
Franny narrowed her eyes at him. "Well don't blindside me with random shit like this then!" she snapped back. She looked away, still blushing slightly "But… I don't have anything planned. So fine, whatever. I guess."
Beat smirked again. "Cool. Meet me in the parking lot. This is gonna be freaking awesome," he said, turning around to walk off.
Once he was gone, Franny leaned against his locker, her expression one of absolute panic. Crap, was this really a date? This had happened too suddenly. She hadn't been able to mentally prepare herself for it. She needed to find Lyric or Gabby. She needed to figure out just what the heck she was going to do here.
"My brother? Yeah, he was acting all weird this morning," Lyric explained. "He was talking with my dad about something, and then he was all happy. It's weird."
Franny bit her thumb nervously. "I know it's weird. Like, all of this is weird. What am I supposed to do? He just totally blindsided me with this," she said.
Lyric shrugged her shoulders. "I mean, if he's being all happy and asking you out that should be a good thing right?" she asked.
"No! It's going to totally throw me off my game!" Franny argued. "I'm used to him scowling and being… you know, him. Not that I don't like him happier, like he's still hot and stuff. But it's just that-"
Lyric held her hand up, cutting her off. "I'm gonna go ahead and stop you before you get on a whole tangent about my brother. Look, if this is actually a date then it's not something you should overthink or anything. Just… keep it casual," she advised.
Franny looked down. "Keep it casual…" Yeah, it wasn't like she should have been expecting anything super fancy right? He probably just wanted to hang out and go somewhere casual. Like a music store or something. "I think I can do that."
"Sure you can. You already did, remember? Helping him out with his lyrics, that time you were alone in your car together. You're like one of the only people my brother can be around for long periods of time without wanting to punch," Lyric said. "You can do this girl. Just go out there, and be your usual charming self."
Franny looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "I can't tell if that last part was you trying to encourage me, or just messing with me," she said.
"It's a bit of both," Lyric said, smirking.
The blonde waved her off and then turned around to head to her last class, only to find herself face to face with Beat. She jumped, her face turning red. "Yo, just wanted to make sure you were still down for after school?" he asked.
She nodded nervously. "Uh, yeah."
"Cool. This is gonna be freaking sick, I swear," he said, still looking unusually excited. It was still more than a little odd seeing him upbeat like this. "Catch you later. Remember, in the parking lot right after school. Don't tell your brother either."
Franny looked a bit confused. "Why?"
"Because… I can't really say. It's a surprise. But I'd bet my tattooed ass you're still gonna love it."
He turned and walked off, and Franny stared after him confused. Lyric walked up beside her, looking equally confused. "Yeah… something is definitely up with him."
Franny nodded, and then thought of something. "Wait, does he actually have tattoos on his-?"
"I'm not answering that. I'm sure you'll find out for yourself someday."
Franny looked around as she waited in the parking lot, trying to find any signs of Beat. She headed out as soon as her last period was up, but so far the boy was nowhere to be seen. Surely he hadn't ditched her. No, Beat wasn't the type of guy to do that to anybody.
Maybe something had happened. He could have gotten in trouble with a teacher or something and landed himself in detention. But if that was the case he probably would have texted her, or told his sister to let her know.
She kept pondering over what was taking him so long, when suddenly her thoughts were broken by the sound of a loud revving noise. She whipped her head around, as did a number of other students, and saw a figure approaching on a motorcycle. They pulled up right in front of her, and the driver took off their helmet and revealed themselves as Beat. "Holy shit," Franny said, wide eyed.
"I know, right!" Beat said, smirking. "I finally saved up enough to buy this baby! It's a classic cruiser! Do you know how badass this is?!"
Franny laughed as she walked up towards it. "Wow, so this is what you were so excited about huh?" she asked. She had remembered him saying something about saving up for a motorcycle. "But wait… why did you want me to come and see it right after school?" she asked.
Beat pulled out a second helmet. "Because you're gonna be the first one to ride it with me obviously. I figure I owe you for all the times you play chauffeur for me and the rest of the guys," he said.
Franny went wide eyed. "R-really?" she asked. "But I drove here. What about my car?"
"I'll give you a lift in the morning too."
"What about Mach?"
"Oh now that's the best part of all this. He's gonna walk his ass home and back in the morning," Beat said, an evil smirk on his face. Franny couldn't help but smirk. It wasn't like she had it out for her brother, but the fact that Beat thought this far ahead about it was amusing. He held the helmet out towards her. "Now, get your ass on here."
She clicked her tongue. "You're not gonna crash on me, are you?"
"Please. I know what the hell I'm doing. Hang on tight though. I don't need you flying off halfway home," he said. Franny blushed slightly. That was right. She was going to have to hang on to him. "Well, c'mon."
Franny nodded, and then made her way over towards him. She put the helmet on and then hopped on the back of the bike. For a moment she just sat there, but when she leaned forward slightly and wrapped her arms around him. Beat revved the bike, and the moment she felt it she hung on even tighter.
She was really glad she was behind him and wearing this helmet right now, because she was pretty sure her face looked like a tomato. "Hang on," Beat said before pulling off. He whipped a u turn and then made his way towards the exit of the parking lot.
As drove off, they saw Olvieir, Mach, and some of the others. Beat slowed down and then stopped near them, lifting up the visor of his helmet. "What's up assholes," Beat said, a cocky smile on his face.
Olivier looked stunned. "No way! You finally got it!"
"Whoa…" Newt said, wide eyed.
Lyric scoffed. "So that's why you were so happy this morning…" Their mom and dad must have dropped it off for him.
Mach looked over the bike and whistled. "Wow, not bad dude… wait, Franny?" he asked, looking a little confused to see his sister riding with Beat.
Franny lifted up her own visor. "I'm riding home with Beat," she said.
Mach blinked. "But what about me?"
"Walk home bitch," Beat said, revving the bike again.
Mach scoffed. "Oh, I see how it is. But if you think my sister is gonna sell me out just for a ride home on a fancy bike, you don't know the bond between twins si-"
"I'll see you at home," Franny said, pulling her visor back down. Beat did the same, and then pulled off, leaving them all behind.
Mach looked after them, and then sighed. To be honest… he probably would have done the same thing. "Well played."
As Beat and Franny continued to drive off, the blonde kept a tight hold on him. Even if this hadn't been a date or anything… it was still pretty nice.
A/N: Commission for laylaylamode who let me have my pic of any fic I wanted with my and her characters. Since the last one was some future au content I thought it would be cool for this one to be a more casual Beat/Franny fic.
