IZUKU POV

It was the first day of my second year in middle school. My day started the same as it always had. I get up, take a shot of whisky and make three new cuts. I hop in the shower and let the water wash the blood off my arm. After that I make my way to school. I put my headphones in and say down. "The first day is always the worst. I hope he's not in this class." Sadly the world just wanted to keep fucking me over as he walked in.

"Hey you damn nerd you're still here?"

I looked up and put my hands under my desk while giving a fake smile. "Well hello Kannchan."

-Snap-

Class dragged on after everyone introduced themselves and said what quirk they had I was immediately made an outcast. Luckily the teacher didn't care so I just put my headphones back in and drifted away. When lunch came I didn't go to the cafeteria I just went up to the roof. It was quiet and I didn't have to deal with anyone.

The rest of the day dragged on. I just wanted the day to be over so I could go home. I took out my notebook and just jotted down ideas for some beats during the last half of the day. Finally the bell rang and I could finally go.

"Hey Deku the old hag said she wants you to come over for dinner tonight."

"Great today just wanted to keep stacking it on."

"Oh alright what time?" I reached in my bag and put my notebook away.

-Snap-

"I don't know just be there by six or don't I couldn't care less."

Bakugo just stormed out of the classroom. I looked at my phone, it was 3:30. "I can't go home because I know I won't leave and I don't want auntie Mitsuki to come and drag me to dinner again. I guess I'll just wander." I got up and put on my headphones. Walking out of the school I could feel everyone's eyes on me. Even if I couldn't hear them I knew what they were saying. "Is that the quirkless kid? I heard he still wants to be a hero. He's crazy to think that. What's wrong with him?"

-Snap-

"This thing doesn't really help at all but at least it calms me a little." I looked down at my wrist and pulled my sleeve up a little. I could see some scars and a bright red mark from all the snaps I did during the day. The rubber band was worn and starting to tear. It had a few red splatters from the days I actually snapped so much it broke the skin and caused me to bleed. "Looks like it's time for a new one when I get home." Before I knew it I was walking through the park. This place was peaceful. I used to play here as a kid. There was a bench that I would always sit at on top of a hill. I made my way to it and I saw someone sitting on it. "Shit."

-Snap-

I took a deep breath and just walked to the tree next to it and leaned up against it. I turned the volume up a little more and just started to fade away into the beats.

JIROU POV

School was over for the day. There was never any work after the first day so I was in no rush to get home. My parents wouldn't be home till later so I had some free time. The sky may have been overcast but I liked it. The aesthetic was great. I made my way to the park close to my house. I made my way to the top of the hill and sat on the bench that overlooked everything. I sat back and pulled out my notebook as I just watched the world go by. After a few minutes I heard someone walking up, I didn't think much of it a lot of people liked this spot. I looked over and saw a kid that looked about my age walking up with headphones in and his head down. He walked up to the tree and leaned against it. "That's a little odd there's plenty of room on the bench. I know I was already here but that doesn't mean he has to stay on the ground." I went back to my notebook. I was tapping on it trying to figure out some lyrics. I felt inspired to write today but I couldn't think of anything, it's so annoying. After some time I leaned my head back and sighed out of frustration. I looked around and saw the kid sitting in the same spot. He wasn't doing anything, just looking over the park with a dead look on his face. I looked back to my notebook and started tapping my pen again.

-Snap-

I quickly looked up. "I know I heard something." I looked around and there was nothing around. "Maybe it was just a stick."

-Snap-

My eyes shot up again and I scanned the park. Again there was nothing. The only thing around was the kid and he hasn't moved.

-Snap-

"Shit…"

I looked over and saw him sitting there holding a rubber band in his hand that was broken. "Was he just playing with a rubber band this whole time? This guy is a little weird." I didn't realize it but I was staring at him. Soon he was digging through his bag looking for something. He looked panicked. I decided to take a risk. "Hey…" no response. "Hey…" nothing. "Hey is everything alright over there?" He still wouldn't answer. "Fuck it." I stood up and walked over and tapped him on the shoulder. He looked up at me. His face almost looked scared, his eyes were emerald green but seemed faded. "Hey is everything alright?"

He took out one of his headphones. "I'm sorry." He gave a little smile.

"Is everything alright you seemed a little panicked." I stepped back a little to give him some space.

"Ye.. yeah I just was looking for something, but it turns out I forgot it." He hung his head a little.

"Why did he just stutter? Why did his smile look forced?" I started to walk towards the bench and looked back. "You know you can sit on the bench if you want there's plenty of room." I went and sat on the far side with my bag in the center leaning against me. He just sat there for a few minutes not moving. Soon he stood up and made his way to the bench and sat on the opposite side. He kept his bag in his lap and held onto it.

"Thank you." Two faint words came from him as he gave another forced smile.

I gave him a nod and went back to my notebook and just kept tapping on it with my pen trying to think of what to write about. "Come on Jirou this shouldn't be this hard to get an idea." I kept tapping my pen when I heard smoke scribbling next to me. I looked over and saw the kid jotting down a bunch of notes. I couldn't make out what he was writing. I started to lean in a little without realizing it.

"Can I help you?" He looked over at me with a confused expression.

"I'm sorry I didn't realize I was invading your space. I just saw you making a lot of quick notes and my curiosity must've gotten the better of me." I gave a small smile trying to hide how embarrassed I was. "Great, now I look like a creep."

He shrugged a little and went back to his notes. A minute later he spoke up. "I had an idea about a new beat I wanted to try so I was making notes of what I heard in my head that way I could better recreate it." He gave a little chuckle as he made a few more quick notes.

"You make music too huh?" I smiled and leaned back again.

He looked at me confused. "You make music?"

"Yeah, my family is big into it so I picked it up." I started to tap my notebook again "What instrument do you play?"

"I don't." He kept his head buried "I just make beats but I guess if I had to say one it would be the piano. But if you put chords in front of me I would have no clue what I'm doing."

"So you make EDM then?" I stopped tapping and looked over at him.

"Not really, I could but I personally prefer making lofi." He kept looking in his notebook.

"Really isn't that just chill music to study and chill too?" I gave him a confused look.

"Yeah but I find it calming and easy to just fade away into." He unplugged his head phones and just let his music play. "I know it's not the greatest thing in the world but I like it."

I leaned back and just listened to the music with him. "I can respect that."

He looked up and looked over at me. "So what do you play?"

I sat up and looked at him and took a deep breath. "I can play guitar, bass, piano, and the drums a little. I also sing and write." I quickly look down into my notebook. "Sadly the writing music hasn't been coming along much lately."

"Wow you can do it all." He gave a small chuckle.

"Not really my parents can play almost anything and they pick things up quickly." I sat my pen down. "Can I ask you a question?"

" I mean you already did but go ahead." He started to try and tie the rubber band around his wrist again.

"Where do you find your inspiration?" I sat up again. "The whole time I've been here I've been trying to think of something to write about but I can't figure anything out."

"I don't know how it is for lyrics but I try to capture moments." His rubber band fell off his wrist to the ground. "That's why I take so many notes. I want to capture what I felt and heard in my head."

As he reached for his rubber band to pick it up I noticed a red mark on his wrist. "Oh… I guess that makes sense." "What's with that mark? Was he just sitting weird and putting pressure on it?" I opened my bag and found a rubber band that was purple and black stripped. "Here you go I don't think that one will work anymore."

He looked over to me and took it. "Th.. thanks." He quickly put it on his wrist that was red.

"Hey… are you." A phone started to go off.

"I'm sorry I need to take this." He answered his phone. "Hello… Wait, it's what time?... No auntie Mitsuki. I'm fine I was just at the park…. No I didn't go home if I did I probably would've gotten caught up in trying new music and been late…. I know I'm still late. I'm sorry I'm on my way now… Bye."

"Everything alright?" I looked at him and laughed.

"Yeah I was supposed to be at a friends house for dinner at 6:00 and well it's 6:20 so she was worried." He put his notebook up and grabbed his headphones. "I'm sorry but I have to go."

"It's no problem thanks for letting me pick your brain." I gave him a smile.

He stood up and plugged his headphones in. "Thanks." He started to walk off.

"Hey." I spoke up trying to get him to turn around. He stopped and looked at me. "What's your name?"

He stood there for a moment and took a deep breath. "Izuku Midoriya."

"I'm Kyoka Jirou." I gave him a wave.

He waved and gave a smile again as he turned and walked away.

-Snap-

As he walked away I saw him pull the rubber band back and let his snap onto his wrist. "Was that him the whole time? Why does his smile seem so forced."
