"Oh, this one fits."
"And you fucking rock it too."
Sagitta looked over herself in the mirror as she tried on one of Nenet's old shirts. The elder girl had brought some of the clothes that she'd outgrown for Sagitta. She didn't get as many chances to come to earth and shop for clothes herself, so Nenet figured that maybe she'd be interested in some of her old things… well, they were actually new things she just never grew into.
She never ended up growing the same size or height as her mother like she'd hoped.
If the princess was offended by being given hand-me-downs, she didn't show it. She was rather interested in browsing through the selection of earth fashion.
Sagitta took it off and set it aside in the pile for the ones she was keeping, while Nenet picked up another shirt. "How about this one? Got it when I went to a concert for the Stain Glass Bandits."
The princess looked over at it, beside before she could answer and noticed something else. There was a jacket on the floor that had a really interesting design on it. She reached down and picked it up, and as she did something fell out of it's pocket. Sagitta caught it before it hit the floor.
It was a photo.
"Hey, what's this?"
Nenet walked over to take a look at it, and then went wide eyed. It was a picture of her and Bruce from when they were younger, both holding martial arts trophies they won respectively. Nenet was smiling in the picture, with a look that could only be described as lovestruck, towards Bruce.
Sagitta smiled as she looked over it. "Aw, that's sweet. You look so-"
Nenet grabbed the picture, balling it up in her hands before tossing it into the trash can nearby. Before Sagitta could even ask what was wrong, she turned and began leaving. "I'm gonna go get some air…"
Sagitta blinked and stared after her, and then towards the trash can.
As Nenet walked down the hall, she bawled her fist up and scowled. She really wished she wouldn't have found that picture. She continued on, and Lacerta and Hati came around the corner and saw her. "Well, hey kitten. Thought I sensed you around here," he said, smirking. Hati just grunted, knowing his master didn't want him chasing the feline away.
Nenet just kept walking past the two of them. She clearly wasn't in the mood to banter or get into whatever trouble Lacerta was doubtlessly up to. The prince looked confused as she kept on walking. Just what the hell was that about?
"Lacerta!" He turned his head and saw Sagitta approaching. "Did you see Nenet come this way? I needed to give her this back," she explained. She held out the photo towards him. She had grabbed it out of the trash can and uncrumpled it as best as she could.
Lars took it and looked over it, and then scowled. "So that's what has her in a cranky ass mood huh?" He knew Bruce was a real touchy topic for her. He didn't know all the details, but he knew whenever they went to earth things always got awkward when it was brought up. "I'll give it back to her."
"Are you going to talk to her too? She seems really upset," Sagitta said.
"I didn't say that. I'm not touching that shit with a ten foot pole."
"Lacerta! You're her friend!" she argued.
"So what?! As her friend I'm respectfully choosing not to address that shit!"
"Would you just talk to her! God! You can be so dense!"
Lacerta sighed and shook his head. "Fine damn it! But don't get mad at me if she ends up more pissed than she is now." He turned and began heading towards where Nenet walked too, and Sagitta sighed and shook her head.
Her brother really could be so thick headed sometimes, and she wondered if it was a good idea to send him after Nenet. But it wasn't like she had a chance of getting her to talk about what was bothering her.
Lacerta approached the balcony where Nenet was at, still trying to figure out what to say. She was leaning over the railing, staring down at the courtyard with an even expression. He took one more moment, and then stepped forward and greeted her as he usually did. With a smack on the butt.
Nenet didn't even flinch. Lacerta gave her another smack, this time even harder. But she still didn't budge. She really was in a bad mood. "I'm not in the mood today Lars," she said, looking back down at the courtyard.
Lars clicked his tongue. "Yeah, I figured. Sagitta showed me this and I figured it had you in a pretty bad fucking mood," he said, holding up the picture to her. "I got to be honest, seeing you sulk over Bruce after all this time is a little surprising."
Nenet narrowed her eyes and then swung back at him, hitting his side. "Shut up. I just told you I'm not in the fucking mood," she said angrily.
"I know damn it. But Sagitta was bitching at me about checking on you, so… did you want to… you know, talk about it or some shit?" he asked.
Nenet raised an eyebrow at him. "Are you serious?" Lacerta was not the 'sit down and talk about your feelings' type of guy. Even if Sagitta had pushed him to it, it was kind of surprising.
"I mean… yeah?"
Nenet rolled her eyes and looked back down… but then let out a breath. She looked at the picture, biting back the urge to just burn the thing. "Fine."
"So what's the photo about?" Lars asked.
"It's from a tournament. We both won in our age groups. It was one of the most badass awesome days of my life. Probably one of my happiest memories," she explained.
"So why'd you ball it up and try to trash it?" he asked.
"Because now that he's gone it just sucks to think about it. Fucking hurts having that shit brought up. I liked Bruce. Like a lot," she said. "Everyone kept on saying that it was just a dumb little kid crush. And maybe it was. But I just… I cared about him."
Lacerta grunted. Though he'd never heard her say it he kind of picked up on it from how she reacted the few times they talked about him. Her attitude always took a nosedive, so he knew there had to be something up. "And then he left."
She grit her teeth. "Yeah, he left…" Her grip on the balcony tightened, and a wave of heat came off of her. Of the people who deserved to be pissed about him leaving, she knew she wasn't really near the top. But she still was.
She felt something nudge her side, and she looked down to see Hati nuzzling her. She reached up and patted him on the head. If even he was trying to cheer her up she must have looked pretty damn down.
Lacerta leaned against the edge of the balcony. "Okay, look… I can't tell ya that I know how you feel with that kid crush shit, because I didn't have that." The closest he'd come to it was what had happened with Wisteria, but that was more about being bitter towards his brother than any feelings for her.
"But, even if you feel down about him leaving and stuff, you shouldn't let it get you all mopey. I mean you think he's going around moping all over the place?" he asked. "If you let other people decide how you act, you're gonna act and feel like shit."
Nenet hummed. "Yeah, guess you're right." She knew her feelings about Bruce weren't going to just disappear. It wasn't something you just got over. But letting herself get down about it wasn't going to help anything.
Lacerta looked surprised. "Huh, did that actually make you feel better? Oh shit. I didn't think I was any good at this. Well, guess you can add one more thing I'm a fucking genius at," he said.
She scoffed. "Just because ya didn't crash and burn doesn't mean you're good at it. I'd still work on my cheering up skills if I were you hothead," she said. "I do appreciate ya coming out here. I should probably get back to your sister." She turned to walk off, but Lacerta reached down and grabbed her tail, giving it a yank and pulling her back.
"Yeow!"
Lacerta smirked down at her. "Seriously? I give you my best pep talk and that's all I get? I feel like I deserve a little more of a reward than that," he said.
She smirked back. "Yeah, guess you're right." She grabbed him by the collar and yanked him forward, pulling him into a kiss. They held it for a bit, and then Nenet broke it and winked before turning to leave again.
Lacerta grabbed her tail once more and yanked her again, this time grabbing her under his arm. "Nice start, but I was thinking that we head back to my room and I warm that ass up," he said.
Nenet hummed. "Ya know ya sister is gonna be wondering where-"
Lacerta smacked her butt, cutting her off. "She'll figure it out," he said as he carried her off. Nenet purred, her tailing curling up. Hati just grunted before laying down and closing his eyes, ready to catch a nap.
Lacerta hummed as he laid in bed on his back and stared up at the ceiling. Laying down next to him was Nenet, who was slumbering away. If how she was in their 'sparring' session was any clue then her bad mood was finally over.
He let out a yawn, and then suddenly felt Nenet clinging onto him as she cuddled up to him. He looked down a bit surprised, but then decided to just let her. She was actually kind of cute when she was like this, and he figured she'd earned a little break. Besides, she was warm. He reached up and wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer and placing his hand on her head. He scratched her behind her ears, and she purred.
Then he winced as he felt her teeth sink her teeth into his chest. He looked down with a scowl and saw her biting him. He had forgotten that she was a sleep biter. He grunted, tempted to pull her off and put her over his knee for that. But he'd decided not to for now. He was still in a pretty good mood.
But later on? Later he'd spank her tail until she couldn't sit for a week.
