Hello everyone, quick warning, this chapter includes blood and death. As always, take care of yourselves and thank you for reading!

"Remus, you know I just love drawing attention to myself, keep making a fool of yourself in the middle of the street," Janus sighed, covering his ears as his mate sang something in Latin on the top of his lungs.

"Aww, come on Jan, lighten up. No one is even around," Remus laughed, dancing around in a small circle on the sidewalk, throwing out his arms dramatically as they walked.

Remus was right of course, no one was really out this late at night. The only reason they were out this late was that Remus had taken full advantage of his turn of having a date day with his alpha by dragging him to every last one of his favorite places in his old home at the lower district, including the midnight theater. Janus of course pretended to be annoyed by Remus's demands but he genuinely adored it. He loved seeing the way Remus lit up happily as he talked about all of the places he used to visit in his past when he was just starting to experience the real world. Even now he was awestruck by the way the streetlights glimmered off of the red auburn color of his hair, drawing attention to the normally only slight contrast in colors between it and the darker color of Remus's ears. He could see the way the rich green color of his eyes contrasted with the bright golden ring right around the pupils. Nights like tonight reminded Janus that Remus truly was the most pristine omega in his household. That of course wasn't why he loved him or had taken him as a mate, it was just something he remembered ever once in a while. Quite honestly he forgot most of the time. If it hadn't been for the unusually strong and alluring scent of Remus's pheromones he never would have believed that he was a designer omega when Remus told him about it when they met four years ago. Even then he didn't believe he got the name of the establishment correct until he saw the tattoo on his shoulder. Remus didn't look like your typical omega. He was tall and had a naturally muscular build that was more likely to be assumed for an alpha or beta. If it wasn't for the tell tale ears and tail of an omega from a distance anyone would mistake him for something else, which Remus loved. He'd usually hide his ears under a beanie and his tail in a hoodie tied around his waist so no one could see them. He'd emphasized the fact he wasn't omega-like on his own. His left human ear was pierced all the way up around it, covered in small black hoops while his other ear had a single piercing at the bottom that was connected to a chain going up to a single cartilage cuff earring. His left brow was pierced as well with a small stud on either side of it. He had also chosen to grow a mustache and dye a strip of his bangs silver. He had to assume Remus had begun dressing like this to scare away alphas attracted by his scent and making himself look less like a desired submissive omega but Janus honestly was pretty sure it was just because he found pride in making people do double takes to try and figure him out. He still couldn't quite believe Remus when he said he had a twin and they were told growing up they'd be the most valuable merchandise of their year. He did believe however that Remus's twin had to help him escape because they were going to get rid of him for his brazen attitude.

"Aww, is the big alpha enjoying the view?" Remus smirked.

Janus glared a little when he realized how long he'd been staring at his mate lost in thought.

"As if I'd take a mate if I didn't," Janus replied, rolling his eyes as he messed up Remus's hair as he walked by him.

Remus caught up with him and looked up at the small frown on his mate's features.

"Hey everything okay?" Remus asked worriedly.

"Do you think the others are alright? We left them alone for an awful long time," Janus hummed worriedly.

Remus laughed loudly, his breath appearing as a thick cloud in the cold air as slung an arm over Janus's shoulders.

"Are you kidding me? The only time you need to worry is if you leave me alone this long. The others haven't set the house on fire," he pointed out.

"But Virgil is still so new to the family. What if he feels like we abandoned him? He'll be in heat soon enough and he'll be a bit more emotionally distressed now and he's already anxious as it is," Janus rambled on, his brows knitting together.

Remus spun Janus towards him and placed a kiss on the stressed wrinkles he was creating on his forehead.

"You're really such a good alpha to all of us, you know that?" Remus hummed lovingly.

Janus puffed out a cheek as he looked back at him.

"I just worry about all of you a bit," Janus huffed.

"Yeah, yeah, sure. That's all," Remus smirked before flicking a hand up in the air with a shrug. "Anyways, Patton will take care of Virgie. You don't need to worry about it. Even Logan'll do his best for him if he needs it. You and I are supposed to be having a fun day out. Besides, we're heading back now anyways. You'll see them soon enough."

The chilled wind of late autumn ripped through the quiet street making Remus shiver and pull his coat tighter around him.

"Damn, I think it's gonna snow early this year. Right Jan? Jan?"

Remus realized Janus wasn't looking at him, his head was held up sniffing at their air. A confused frown crossed his lips and made Remus draw a little closer to him, looking around worriedly for any sign of what Janus might have been so distracted by.

"Janus, what is it?" He asked again.

"Omega," Janus replied simply, still trying to pinpoint the scent.

"An omega? Why does that have you all concerned?" Remus asked.

He wasn't one to get jealous but if Janus was just going to chase after some random omega on the streets there was some explaining that needed to happen.

"Not a normal omega. A designer omega, like you," Janus explained.

Remus gaped in surprised, trying to smell the air as well. Omegas had much weaker senses of smell than alphas even if it was still stronger than betas.

"In the lower district? Are you sure? We aren't anywhere near the brothel," Remus said skeptically as he tried to make out the strange scent on the wind.

"Positive," Janus replied, leading him up to an alleyway. "Smells like fear and blood."

Janus was practically growling at this rate and had grabbed onto Remus protectively. Neither of them liked what that could very well imply.

"You don't think they were killed or something, do you? Some crazy alpha who likes to hurt designer omegas or something?" Remus asked.

He was already shaking. His overactive imagination had a way of taking any small thought and running away with it creating detailed and graphic images of what could happen to him and his loved ones. Janus noticed this and wrapped an arm around Remus to comfort him.

"We aren't staying to find out," he replied.

"Shouldn't we, like, call the police or something?" Remus suggested.

Janus nodded and took out his phone dialing the three digit code and pressing call.

"Yes, hello? My mate and I are on South Hindburge avenue near the Brightside gas station. There seems to be the smell of an afraid omega and blood down one of these alleys. Can you dispatch someone to come investigate?" Janus asked.

While Janus was speaking the wind picked up again and this time Remus caught the scent of the distressed omega. Tears pricked in his eyes when he smelled it. It was slightly different, more matured, but he'd know it anywhere.

"Fucking god, I'll kill anyone who fucking touched him!" Remus growled taking off down the alley after the scent.

Janus nearly dropped his phone when Remus slipped out from under his arm to run into potential danger.

"Remus! Uh, yes, m'am? Can you please stay on the line? My mate just ran off down the alley and I'm going after him. Yes, thank you," Janus replied before clicking his phone onto speaker mode so the operator could hear if anything bad happened.

He ran off after Remus who was already a ways ahead of him, he didn't think Remus had it in him to run so fast. Remus skidded around corners, tears burning in his eyes as the smell of blood and distress grew more prominent along with the quieter but pungent scent of death. His heart was leaping in his chest as he ran, not taking in his oxygen properly. He couldn't be dead, he had to be alive.

He rounded another corner and froze. There on the ground was a man, slumped back against a wall, the pale moonlight glowed off of his completely bare skin which was turning a blue-ish purple in the cold weather. His legs were plastered with blood which was leaking out onto the filthy dirt road below him. Blood was splattered up to his chest due to the bloody bundle he cradled in his arms, wrapped in his shirt which Remus had to assume was white at one point. His chest was broad and a bit bloated but Remus could so clearly count every rib due to how underfed the man seemed. His pants had been removed and sat in a pile right beside him.

"No… No, please," Remus begged as tears ran down his cheeks.

Janus came up behind him and ran over to the man's side checking for a pulse before turning and investigating the bundle which even in his unconscious state he refused to let go of. He then lifted up the phone to speak to the lady on the other end.

"Please send an ambulance. An omega has given birth on the street. Something went horribly wrong. He's unconscious, freezing cold and his pulse is weak. There is a lot of blood. I think the baby is dead. This man will follow it soon if he doesn't get help," Janus said.

The lady responded and told them an ambulance would be there in a few minutes and to try to keep the man warm and if they could apply pressure to the injury until proper help could arrive. Remus was the first to react to the statement wrapping his coat over the man's shoulders and pinning it in the front as best he could around the child he clung to. He then grabbed the man's jeans and tried pressing it down between his legs but he was trembling too much, sobbing uncontrollably. Janus didn't understand why. Perhaps it was because Remus was distressed by the thought no one had been willing to help the poor omega. It didn't matter he just needed to take care of his omega and help anyway he could. He slipped off his own coat and wrapped it around the man's lower body before gently grabbing Remus's hands and taking the bunched up jeans from him.

"It's okay, I'll do it," Janus said.

Remus nodded and moved away to instead slip in front of the man pulling his head up against his chest as he cried. He wiped a thumb across the man's dirty masculine features.

"It's okay Remus, help is on the way… And if they don't make it in time then well, this man seems like he's been suffering for a long time," Janus said, looking away from his mate.

Remus sniffed a bit but didn't look back at Janus. His ears fell back and his tail was curled up tightly around himself.

"When he said we met again, I didn't think it'd be like this. I'd have preferred to never see him again if it meant never seeing him like this," Remus cried.

Janus's eyes widened, realizing Remus must know the man. For the first time he truly looked at the man and realized something he should have immediately seen. The beautiful red auburn hair with darker ears that he knew to be so Remus. That tall, naturally masculen build that made him not look like a traditional omega. That unusually irresistibly enticing smell he'd only ever experienced from his mate. If you gave the man a bit more weight and a few more edgy accents, he'd be identical to Remus. He knew exactly why Remus was so distraught and why Remus had run after the smell in the first place. He knew who the man was before Remus even said the name.

"Please don't die on me. Don't leave me again, Roman."
