"Let's try again." Amos said as he helped me down the stairs, fuck this sucks! Both of my arms were on the mend still so I needed help literally to do anything! Ugh! Why couldn't Wolf just kill me?! Do you have any idea what going to the bathroom is like when both your arms are broken!?

"Amos why are you still here? Don't you have a faction to run?" I asked as we reached the bottom of the stairs and we walked into the kitchen to talk.

"I...the faction is done, Langdon was killed and the rest fell in line. My right to rule has been denied out of fear of what the benefactors will do. My men follow the generals more than they do me out of a sense of loyalty. With so few of them left and all bought off I have no one protecting me. I...I'm sorry Sam...you entrusted the Gargareans to me and I failed..." he said hanging his head.

I sighed "Don't say that Amos, this has nothing to do with you. You maintained rule, led your people, protected them. These benefactors bought out a bunch of greedy dishonorable men. They betrayed you, they failed their duty not you."

Amos nodded as he glanced as his cape, then he cracked a smile "Better than a violent, potty mouthed, and sadistic asshole though." he said his smile getting bigger.

"Hey! I was nice!" I defended.

"You are delusional, How in the fuck did your family maintain rule for so long? Honestly it's just...astounding!" Amos said as he made a sandwich. Didn't even ask!...fucking asshole!

I waited a few seconds as he finished his sandwich and started eating. I know all too well what it's like to fail on a colossal level, to a point where you don't think you can ever come back. I can't leave Amos like this, my plans can wait for now he needs my help.

I nodded "So, what's the plan man?" I asked looking at my old friend.

He fidgeted with his cape for a few seconds "You are doing nothing, I'm not putting you through that again." he said and I glared at him.

"I get hurt all the time! Big deal dude!" I shouted and he glared back at me.

"He wasn't trying to hurt you Sam! He was trying to break you! He didn't have to break your arms he could have just killed you! He knew he could cut through your armor but he still slashed and injured you! This guy wants you on your knees begging him to show mercy, which he will never give you! Getting hurt isn't the issue, it's what might happen if no one is able to save you in time!" Amos rambled.

I turned away and looked the table, why the fuck was Amos always so logical and calculated!? Fuck! I looked up at him and saw his hardened stare, it was clear he wasn't backing down "You know you never did tell me your parentage. Why did you join the Gargareans?" I found myself asking.

Amos raised an eyebrow but cleared his throat "I'm a legacy of Athena, probably about a year before I joined I ran with this really bad crowd. During the initiation of another member we got jumped by a rival gang, turns out they weren't mortal. They were hunting me, everyone of the guys I was with was killed. I was able to fight them off but ended up having to run away. I lived on the streets for a while until one day their was this huge riot, it...it wasn't what you think. It wasn't mortals it was monsters trying to take over the city. The SWAT team that kept them at bay was, in fact, the Gargareans. The old king before everything, Miles, was there and he saw me, he approached me and asked if I wanted to join. Of course I said yes but...I never really knew what I was getting myself into until you came along dude." Amos explained.

Now normally someone talking for that long I would have either fallen asleep or punched them to shut up but hearing that made my heart ache. I guess everyone has a story huh? Some maybe even fifteen books, that's right Percy! Looking at you! Fucking spotlight hogging bastard!

"I think I might know how we can restore order to the Gargareans." I said after a few minutes. Amos looked at me curiously "Remember when I asked how one becomes king? You said only someone of royal blood or who has earned the favor of a war god can become a legitimate king." I said and Amos nodded. I smiled "So to stop the fighting we just got to get you a gods favor." I surmised.

"What about Wolf?" Amos asked with a frown.

"Wolf is most likely going to lay dormant for now, you haven't heard anything right?" I asked and Amos nodded "Exactly, because he was there to do a job and now it's done. Whoever these benefactors are they are probably going to pull him back until he's needed. We shouldn't focus on your generals.. What we need to focus on is making you the legitimate king." I said.

Yeah yeah I know I'm pushing my anger down to help my friend, what I would absolutely love is to find Wolf and stomp on every single bone until it's dust and then gouge out his eyes but make sure he can still see as I make him swallow his sword! Plus with Wolf going into hiding I had no way to find him until he showed himself again, just have to be patient with that prick!

"How am I supposed to earn the favor of a war god? What would I even have to do?" Amos asked completely lost.

I leaned back and sighed that was a very good question, how do you earn the favor of a war god especially when the gods are silent?

Oh now wait just a minute...there is still one god who isn't silent and may be able to help us!

"We have to talk to Apollo!"
