Chapter:20 Discovery and Past
Years ago, a younger Qrow is wondering through the forest to hunt some food to eat as he was having a bad time walking through the woods due to his Semblance.
He will sometimes trip on sticks and rocks, get hit by branches, or the occasional ants.
He cursed under his breath till he trip forwards with a yelp as he lands on the ground with a loud thud and groans.
He lifted his head up, only to see a white furred paw with sharp claws on it, and quickly stood up and scuttled to a tree.
He feared that it was a Grimm that his tribe always called, but he something more different, something beautiful.
Standing in front of him is a quadrupedal, mammal with a dark blue to black body covered in white fur. It has a ruff around its neck and chest and a tuft on the top of its head adorned with a single blue-black oval. It has a feline face with almond-shaped, red eyes, a scythe-like tail, and a crescent-shaped horn on the side of its head. Its broad feet are equipped with three claws each, and dewclaw-like spikes protrude from the heels of its hind legs and the elbows of its front legs. It walks with a pacing gait like that of a camel.
Young Qrow could only look in awe to the creature that is infront of him, and tried to reach out to it.
The creature quickly step back which made Qrow flinched, but its red calculating gaze lock on to Qrow's and placed its head on his palm.
Qrow was shock at first, till he could feel the warmth of the creature and began to pet it.
Suddenly there was the sound of a twig snapping as Qrow and the creature jump in fright and looked where it came from.
"Where are you brat?!" Qrow recognized the voice and went forward, he turned around to face the creature, but it was already gone.
Qrow tried to look around, but he saw it was gone and just walks away.
Unbeknownst to him, the creature watched from a far with its piercing red eyes, and began to follow him in the distance.
Currently in the Schnee manor, Vic is walking through the halls with serious look in his eyes as he look forward without missing a beat.
You know what the reason is? Well... Its because of this.
A few hours after the party, Vic was invited to the manor by Jacques himself for something.
He did hear some of the Faunus population that they hated the Schnee's for some reason, and he want to find it out.Weiss was alongside him looking very nervous, which made Vic to think ahead as to why she grew nervous, but he knew that its something bad, very bad.
He and Weiss then entered Jacques' office and they saw him sitting by his desks.
"Welcome Mister Polaris, I hope you were comfortable getting here?" Jacques said.
"I am, just a little chilly" Vic said as he rub his hands.
That was a lie.
It was freaking cold! The Shoal Cave wasn't even this bad at all.
"Good good, please take a seat," Jacques offered as Vic took a seat while Weiss stood by the door.
"So what is this about?" Vic asked as Jacques put his elbows on his desk while making a tent with his hands.
"As you may know, when your battle was broadcast cast around the Kingdoms, there was something happens afterwards," Jacques said.
"Like what?" Vic asked as Jacques quickly got some pictures in his desk and threw it over. Vic look closely to them and was shock to what he saw.
"I don't know much of animals, but clearly they have lived around here a long time," Jacques said as Weiss walk over to see the pictures and was also shock.
All of it has pictures of mountain living Pokemons with different shapes and sizes, all living in the snowy forest of Atlas and all of them are in packs.
Vic look up and asked, "When did you take them."
"It wasn't me," Jacques admitted. "It was rather Whitley."
"How?" Weiss asked in shock at knowing that her own little brother saw them.
Jacques sigh and said, "While he was in our garden, he saw one of them wondering there and was rather curious, then he saw it going to the woods and followed them. He would always tell me what he saw and the pictures that he took, and when I saw the broadcast about you. I began to grow curious myself."
"If you are asking for information, then you're wrong. I don't know much," Vic admitted.
"That is why I need some experts to help me with this. While the discovery of them now wondering here would be incredible, but imagine what would happens next," Jacques explained as Vic already knows.
Poaching, cruelty, and many others.
"So why me?" Vic asked as Jacques sigh again.
"Because of this," He then showed them another picture and was clearly shock.
It was both Jacques and Whitley in winter clothing, but they weren't alone. With them were two Pokemons.
First is an ursine, quadrupedal Pokémon capable of standing on its hind legs. It has bluish-white fur with a shaggy tuft at its rear. Three spikes of ice hang from its lower jaw, forming a beard. Its face consists of a long snout, beady black eyes, and rounded ears. Its large forepaws have black claws and paw pads.
Second is a small, larval Pokémon. Most of its round white body is covered by a translucent shell of icy spikes. Its exposed head features two black eyes and round mouthparts. Four short legs are located underneath its body.
"I join along with Whitley and saw these two and we felt... Some kind of bond to them," Jacques admitted with Weiss' looking in shock. "I just couldn't explain it but... I felt change when I began to interact with them."
"So what are you saying?" Vic asked.
"You know what the SDC sell right?" Vic nods. "Then you know, that if they ever know about this then they'll do anything to use them right?"
Oh he kinda where this is going.
"While I pretty do much focus on the business, but animal cruelty is just crossing the line," Jacques said as Weiss glared at her.
"Then what about the Faunus population then?" Weiss asked in anger as Jacques sighed again.
"While I admit that I hate them, but they are still buyers and they need some products as well. It doesn't help that the board tried to minimize it, which might ruin the business," Jacques said as Weiss could only gape in shock at his words.
Vic was also surprised by this but he has one question, "So explain to me how?"
"I need your friends help protecting them of course," The two of them look at him in shock. "While I admit that people will truly be excited by this, but these creatures still needs to be protected as well. While I only care of the business, I will not dirty my hands with the blood of the living."
There was a chilling silence as Weiss could only look in shock to hear those words, but still lamented some things.
"I... I'll leave for now," Weiss quickly said as she left the room to leave the two males in it.
The silent was still there till Jacques spoke up.
"Mister Polaris, I know that you might have some Faunus friends and I know that you want to why, but I will make it clear. I am trying to change it, while I have some animosity to them, business or not, I am trying to change," Jacques said.
"So why was Weiss angry about you?" Vic asked as the only adult sigh again.
"Because of me focusing on the business. While I did enter the family in a loveless marriage, I still need to manage the family as well. I work hard and harder for the company, but when I saw those magnificent creatures. I... feel a change in me to value my family more," Jacques said solemnly.
"Then that is all," Vic said as he was about to leave.
"Wait!" Jacques quickly stop him. "I need a favor to you."
"What is it?" Vic asked.
"You already the hostility of Weiss to me right?" He got a nod for an answer. "Then you know when I say that she needs to quit her dream, then she will be angry at me more. But you know that its for her own good since that very battle."
Vic slightly understands.
"Then you know that she will try to run away to help her team no matter what, so I ask you... Please keep an eye to my daughter," Jacques pleads as Vic look in shock. "While I didn't care for the family before, but I will today then the future."
Vic thought about it and said, "While I can't follow her since I have still have things to do down below, but my partner will. So yes, I promise Mister Schnee."
"Thank you Mister Polaris, you may leave," Jacques said as Vic then went out the door and Jacques look outside the window to see the snow falling to the ground.
"Stalactite," Jacques muttered as he then went to finish all of the paperwork.
And that is it. While Vic expected a rather cold man, but he knew that people eventually change.
"Better make some calls," Vic said to himself.
While he continued to walk forward, he didn't notice a pair of eyes looking at him.
Back with Ruby and her group, their attackers pulls his tail back. Qrow turns around, swinging his weapon and holding at the ready by his side.
"As I live and breathe, Qrow Branwen," The man gave a mock bow. "A true Huntsman has entered the fray!"
Ruby gets up and sets Crescent Rose on its end. Qrow glances back at her.
"I don't know, this guy's weird," Ruby said to her uncle as Qrow then faced the man.
"Look, pal, I'm not sure who you are, but you need to leave my niece alone," Qrow said as the man chortles.
"Why, friend, my name is Tyrian. And I'm afraid that is not possible," The man now named Tyrian introduced as he place his hands together and gestured at Ruby. "My assignment from Her Grace was to retrieve this young girl. So, that is what I must do." He then placed his hand on his chest. "One does not upset the Queen."
"Queen?" Ruby questioned.
"Salem," Qrow muttered as he tightened his grip on his weapon.
"Who?" Ruby asked.
"Hmm, I think we've had enough talk now, don't you?" Tyrian said as he crouched down.
"You took the words right out of—"
Tyrian rushes Qrow before he can finish voicing the thought and the two begin fighting. Qrow blocks two strikes with Harbinger, then slashes at Tyrian who jumps trying to pierce Qrow as he lands. Qrow dodges then swings but Tyrian back-flips away and rushes back in. The two clash as Tyrian goes flying, he comes to a stop digging his weapons into the ground. He ducks to avoid a slash from Qrow then leaps aside to dodge a horizontal strike. He follows up with a slash, using the force to transition into a kick that Tyrian slides under, then the Faunus tries to strike his back but it is stopped. Tyrian attacks again as Qrow parries several thrusts of his tail. As Tyrian blocks a downward strike pinning him on his knees a roof gets damaged by the shock-wave and Tyrian uses The Queen's Servants built in guns to get free. As Qrow blocks the shots with Harbinger Tyrian circles him firing a steady barrage, Ren and Nora join in, but Tyrian catches their sneak attack and dodges then easily knocks them away. He moves to chase them as the two land back near Jaune and Ruby, but Qrow intervenes to hold him back.
"Don't come any closer!" Qrow shouted to them as he continued fighting off Tyrian.
"Fine!" Ruby then takes Crescent Rose to the top of a building and waits for an opening to shoot Tyrian. However, both he and Qrow move too fast for her to get a clear shot.Ruby grimaces in frustration.
Qrow blocks a jab from Tyrian"s tail then counters, Tyrian parries before retaliating with a slash followed by a kick. Qrow ducks before swinging three times as the Faunus avoids them all, before using his tail as a spring to gain altitude as he opens fire again. Qrow blocks the attack then fires a shot of his own then dodges another thrust. Tyrian manages to uses his tail to disarm Qrow flinging the sword away as he rubs his wrist. This slows things down enough for Ruby to repeatedly shoot at him from the roof, but after the first shot misses an amused Tyrian just deflects each with his tail.
Qrow curls his hand into a fist then switches to punching Tyrian in the face. He groans in pain backing up before Qrow lands a few more hits. With a final kick, he manages to send Tyrian flying and casually moves to retrieve Harbinger from where it embedded in a wall. A frustrated Tyrian waits crouched until Qrow has his back turned before striking, but Qrow merely leaps on top of his own weapon and partially changes it to scythe mode. Using the gun barrels he propels himself to a roof top, Tyrian follows as their battle continues. They appear evenly matched until Qrow notices a damaged beam. He tricks Tyrian into landing on it and the Faunus descends into the building and uses his tail to drag Qrow down, too.As the two land, the remaining roof collapses inward.
This is enough to make Ruby decide to no longer stay back. Staring at the dust cloud in concern she descends to street level. Just as she reaches the building, Qrow comes crashing out through a wall, his body bouncing. He tosses Harbinger which lands with its blade in the ground, and Qrow perches atop it. Red flickers of damaged Aura move over his body twice.
Tyrian comes out of the floating dust and grime inside the building, purple flickers moving across his body. As the two begin to strike again, Ruby jumps in between and deflects Tyrian's blades with Crescent Rose.
"Ruby!" Jaune called out in worry as Ren and Pyrrha quickly stop his advancement.
"Do you wish to be taken?" Tyrian asked as if he was crazy enough.
"No! But I won't stand by and watch someone get hurt!"
"Bacchus! Monarch! Help them!" Nora quickly ordered as the Bat and Butterfly Pokemon quickly followed.
Both Qrow and Ruby move in to attack Tyrian who parries both weapons and the three clash. He kicks Qrow away then shoots and jabs at Ruby with tail, she blocks and tries to counter but the blow is knocked aside. His eyes purple again, Tyrian closes in and almost gets her with his stinger, but Qrow blocks it. Bacchus and Monarch took this chance to attack as the Bat Pokémon went for a Fly while Monarch used Bug Buzz. Tyrian quickly stop the clash and avoided it along with Bacchus' attack as he fired off some bullets at them.
When the two is distracting the Scorpion Faunus, Qrow glance to his side.
"Ruby! What did I say?! Get back!" Qrow scolded her.
"This is my fight, too!" Ruby shouted back as she attacks Tyrian while he was still distracting by Bacchus and Monarch, but the crazy Faunus easily maneuver away from the attack while also dodging the two Pokemons' attacks.
"No, it's not that. It's—" Qrow tried to speak out to her but Ruby attacks again, and Tyrian moves to her. He flips and sends her back with a two-footed kick. She slides closer to the building and gains her ground, but the wooden beams near the roof have been shaken up too much and a heavy one breaks and descends upon her. Qrow slices it in half so it falls in pieces to either side of Ruby without touching her.
She smiles at him in gratitude and affection, and he raises his head from his stance to look at her, only to gasp in pain as he is immediately cut in the abdomen by Tyrian's stinger.
Tyrian chuckles while everyone but Ruby pauses in shock. She, however, immediately cuts off the stinger from the rest of Tyrian's tail. It bounces, spurting purple liquid, to the ground. Tyrian reels back and cries out from the pain. Standing, he whirls to face Ruby, infuriated
"You b*tch!" Tyrian yelled at her but Bacchus rammed him and Monarch blast him away further.
Nora, Pyrrha, Ren, and Jaune all move to block his path to Ruby and Qrow.
Tyrian stood up takes a few awkward steps, not engaging.
"She'll forgive you," He said to himself then ran away.
Qrow, who had still been upright with his weapon at the ready, collapses to one knee and clutches at the wound, panting heavily.
Ruby quickly rushes to his side, "Uncle Qrow! Are you okay?"
"I'll be fine. He just grazed me," Qrow assured them as he pulls his shaking hand away to show the blood on it. The other four arrive at his side.
"Who was that guy?" Nora asked as Bacchus land on her shoulder with Monarch landing on Ren's.
"How did you get here?" Ren questioned.
"Who is this Queen that man saying?" Pyrrha asked as she felt worried if it connects with the False Maiden.
"Why are people after Ruby?" Jaune asked in worry.
Qrow breathes heavily while clutching his abdomen again and said, "What's your favorite fairy tale?"
He then groan in pain.
And that is it for this chapter.
So yeah, no Omake for this one for now. I admit that I am focusing on this story too much, but I feel so ingrained to this story since this could be one of my stories that could eventually finish.
I also admit that Arc Music Album is also gonna reach it in some point, but could you really blame to not having a new update yet. It is easy to just show them reacting to the song while adding some small clips to continue to story, but since I am in the part of focusing more on the story other than the songs.
I am so focused to me having this story as well since it is easier because I have a convenient base for it from the show's fandom.
Its not really easy being an author with too much on work. Like for example, windstorm16, he or she is creating a lot of stories still in progress, but couldn't be finished due to the large amount of stories that he still have active.
While One-shots are very easy and simple, you still need a base for it because a story isn't a good one without it.
Like look, I was having troubles finding the lines for my stories before I found the wiki, so I resort on finding them on other author's stories for those lines. I am just so impatient on waiting for watching the show because by reading it on other people's story and some short clips on YouTube made me piece it all together so I don't have to watch it.
Its bad enough as it is, but me having online classes while me having to take responsibility to my stories is worse. This is not an excuse! I am trying to listen, but constant ideas will not disappear in an hour when I keep thinking of new stories for my account.
While I don't listen at all, I do get some good life lessons to stories that I have read which helps me a lot and made me understand life a little. So anyways, I am still happy for you guys that still reads my stories and hoping for them to reach new heights.
Speaking of new stories, I have a new one, Pokemon Honor and Pride, my own Fanmade Region with my own Fakemons in them. I am doing this manga style since doing it by the games is kinda normal for my taste. Doing this manga style will give the main cast more character like the original manga does.
