Chapter:22 Separate Ways
In Patch, Yang lifts up her head, arms as the ready for a fight.Tai takes a swing at her with his left hand, but she easily blocks it with her robotic wrist, pushing his hand away from her. The interplay repeats with his right and her left, only this time Yang uses the momentum to turn and come back at her father with a roundhouse kick. Tai bends backwards to dodge it, his legs in a lunge. He gives his daughter a solid punch, pushing her back a few feet.
Nearby, Zwei and Alpha the Pidgeot watches the two spar, panting happily and look at the apar in interest respectively. Beside them is a low stool with two white towels. Zwei's head changes angles, oscillating to the sounds of grunts and contact. Abruptly the corgi holds his head straight and makes a noise of surprise. Alpha just look at them to see two people fighting with their hands since he mostly see humans fighting with weapons.
Tai stands alone and moves forward, doing his own roundhouse kick. Yang joins both hands atop each other to block Tai's landing foot. With a loud cry, she pushes it up and back. Tai regains his footing in a flip while Yang waits for his landing. Using her robotic arm, she knocks him back with a single hit.
Holding onto his right bicep, Tai slides through the dirt, his feet flat on the ground until he comes to a stop.
"Whoa, that thing packs a punch!" Tai said with pride. Both father and daughter spar with each other for a week so Yang could get used to her new prosthetic.
"We've been at this for weeks. I get it, you wanna make sure I can still fight. I think I'm doing just fine," Yand said as she bump her own fists.
"You're close," Tai said as he stands upright, no longer nursing his arm. Walking around his daughter in a circle, he assesses her progress.
"Oh, really?" Yang asked.
"You're still off balance," Tai said as Yang look at him in shock.
"What?! No I'm not!" Yang shouted angrily as Tai chuckled.
Yang then said, "Honestly, I'm kind of surprised." She lifts her robotic arm, looking down at it with a smile. "I thought it would be just this huge weight, but it feels... natural. They did a great job with this thing."
Suddenly Tai came out of nowhere, delivering a left hook right into her face. Yang's upper body rears back both from impact and surprise. She's ready to block his right hook, however, and uses the turning momentum to deliver an elbow jab. Grinning the entire time, Tai blocks it and then dodges all the kicks she follows through with. Yang switches to punches, but Tai is too on point for her. While she uses her left hand to block an elbow thrust, Tai has grasped her robotic arm and pulled it forward. The position puts Yang in the position of having her balance rely on the weight of one leg.
"I wasn't talking about your actual balance," Tai said as he sweeps her forward leg, sending her onto the ground on her back. He leaves her there and walks over to Zwei, who happily gets the top towel for him while Alpha stayed behind. "Although, that could use some work too."
Tai takes the towel and give Zwei a rub on the top of his head. Zwei hums happily. Arms spread on the ground, Yang takes a breath before speaking.
"Meaning?"
Tai remove the sweat with the towel and said, "I saw your tournament fights. During the Vytal Festival."
"Let me guess. "I was sloppy."," Yang said in a mocking manner.
"No, no, you were predictable. And... stubborn. And... maybe a little boneheaded," Tai said as his daughter sits up and spins to stare at her father. "Do you realize that you used your Semblance to win every fight after the qualifiers?"
Yang then away with her back facing her father and said, "So what? How is me using my Semblance any different than someone else using theirs?"
Tossing the towel on the ground, Taiyang moves toward Yang and said, "Because not everyone else's is basically a temper tantrum." He laugh while crouching beside her. "I'm serious! Once you take damage, you can dish it back twice as hard, but that doesn't make you invincible! It's great when you're in a bind, but what happens if you miss? What happens if they're stronger? What then? Now you're just weak and tired! You've always been one to burn brighter than everyone else, whether it was with your smile, or, well, I remember your first haircut."
He playfully tugs the hair on the back of her head. Smiling, Yang bats him away. He chuckles and gets up, walking away a few paces with Zwei just behind him.
"But you gotta keep your emotions in check. Keep a level head, and think before you act. Your Semblance is a great fallback, but you can't let yourself rely on it. It won't always save you," Tai said as he lowers his head, sadness creeping into his tone. "Obviously. You definitely have your mom's stubbornness."
Taiyang faces one of the trees, not looking at Yang. Between the two of them, Zwei moves his head back and forth as each speaks while Alpha stayed on the same spot.
"Oh, so now we can talk about her?" Yang asked in annoyance.
"Well, as I have been informed, you're an adult now, remember?" Tai said.
"Well, sorry I remind you of her," Yang said mockingly.
"Don't be. Raven was great in so many ways - her strength, her ambition, her dedication to whatever cause she thought was worth fighting for," Tai then turn around. "I'm proud of how much of her I see in you. But, I'm glad I don't see all of her in you."
"Why?" Yang asked.
"Your mother was... a complicated woman. Like everybody, she had her faults, but those faults are what tore our team apart. And, it did a real number on our family. You both act like the easiest way to tackle an obstacle is through it," Tai then points at Zwei. "That strength is all that matters in a fight. But if you just take a second look, then maybe you see... " He then walk towards his daughter as he step around the family dog. "There's a way around as well."
He then extended his hand towards Yang and said, "Come on - one more before dinner."
Yang takes his hand and he helps her up. They circle each other, arms at the ready. Taiyang makes the first move with a left hook, followed immediately by a right cross and a kick. Yang blocks and dodges, continuing to avoid being hit even when Taiyang flips in the air. She cartwheels, avoiding him and he lands across from her. They face off again, Taiying doing a single punch and kick. Veering to avoid it, Yang rolls a few feet away before turning and rushing at him. They meet in the middle, each with their left hand on the other's right elbow, pushing against each other.
"Heh. See? Alright! Now you're using your head instead of your—" Tai was quickly cut off when Yang kicks his leg out from underneath him but catches him as he falls back. They pause in that pose, grasping hands and smiling together.
As he saw quite enough, Alpha went to the sky to go back to Vale.
In the makeshift practice area of her room, Weiss holds Myrtenaster at the ready. She steps back, twirls, a stream of blue-white light coming from the tip of her sword. On the close of her twirl, Weiss hold it aloft before striking the tip to the floor. A Summoning glyph appears, the Arma Gigas's word slowly but surely beginning to emerge. Weiss' eyes are shut as she concentrates, the power of her Summoning causing a small wind to blow the hair around her face. A voice interrupts.
"Hello, sister," Weiss then look to who it was and saw that it was Whitley propped up against the frame of her open door. The sword shatters and disappears, the glyph fading away after.
"Ugh, leave," Weiss said as she was annoyed in her brother's presence.
"How hurtful. And here I am, about to offer you a favor. Father's taking me to town to introduce me to some of his business partners. I'd thought I'd see if you wanted me to pick up anything since you're... well, staying here," Whitley said.
"Are you jealous? Is that it?" Weiss questioned.
"Whatever do you mean?" Whitley asked.
"Is that why you hate me? Are you jealous of my abilities? Of Winter's?" Weiss said.
Whitley shook his head as he step away from the door frame and said, "Hmm... no, not really. Honestly, I find it barbaric. It's beneath people like me. Especially that I really don't hate you at all, not a single hate actually."
Weiss only look at him doubtfully, "And why not?"
Whitley look up the ceiling and said, "Because I learned something when I wondered in the woods nearby."
Weiss only look at him in surprise, "You went to the woods? Why?"
Whitley then chuckled as he extendeds his arm above his head and said nothing.
Weiss look confused till she look up and was shock.
Hanging by the ceiling by a single thread of silk is the same small Pokemon from the picture from before.
"I made a friend," Whitley said as the small cute bug slowly descends down to his hand and landed safely on it, and Whitley softly rub its head which the little bug enjoyed.
Weiss could only look in shock and said, "How did you get one? More importantly, how did it get here?"
Whitley then look at her and said, "I don't know either but I knew that they have lived there for a long time, we just don't know when."
The small bug then crawled to his shoulder while Weiss grabbed her Scroll and looked for something inside.
"What are you looking for?" Whitley asked.
"Something Professor Suesei gave to us when their class started. Ah there it is," Weiss said as Whitley look over her shoulder and saw the content of his sister's Scroll.
It was the information of Whitley's little buddy as Weiss then pressed the button for automatic explanation.
"Snom
The Worm Pokemon
Ice and Bug Type
It spits out thread imbued with a frigid sort of energy and uses it to tie its body to branches, disguising itself as an icicle while it sleeps."
"Fascinating," Whitley said in awe.
"It is quite indeed," Weiss said as the two of them look at the small cute Worm Pokemon cuddling Whitley's neck, and it was followed by silence.
Whitley then decided to break it, "So what are you gonna do now? What will you do staying here?"
Weiss then look outside to see the snow falling and said, "To help my friends of course."
"But how will you get to them quickly?" Whitley asked as he then began to leave to leave Weiss in her thoughts. As he was about to leave, he look over his left shoulder and said, "I really missed you sister. You and Winter."
Weiss could only gave him a very rare smile to him and said, "I missed you too Whitley"
Whitley nods as he was about to leave till Weiss called out to him.
"Wait!" Whitley then turned around to face her. "What's his name?"
Whitley then look at his Snom with a smile and said, "His name is Neige."
He then continued to walk away as he closed the door behind him to leave Weiss with her thoughts.
Weiss then sigh and resumes her Summoning position. The glyph appears and this time Weiss looks at the portrait of the Arma Gigas on the wall. She repeats the same twirl and stab. The glyph glows brightly and spins faster.
The books shake in the bookcase on the wall. One particular tome, decorated with floral relief, falls off the shelf and opens on the floor.
The window bursts outward as the room is consumed in a bright white light. The light abates to reveal Weiss covering her eyes with her arm. The door to her room is pushed open by an urgent Klein, their family butler.
"Miss Schnee! Are you alright?!" Klein called oht in worry till his eyes widen and he leans backwards, looking amazed. Weiss smiles at him and turns to face the Arma Gigas she successfully Summoned.
"Yes," Weiss simply said as the Arma Gigas goes down to one knee and bows at Weiss. She then look at the broken window. "Klein, I need a favor."
Klein could only nods determinedly.
Blake and the masked White Fang member leap from tree to tree, Blake in pursuit of the other Faunus. They both pause for a moment, gripping different trees. A noise above the spy makes her gasp and Sun appears, dropping down.
"Gotcha!" Sun called out as the spy leaps on, out of his path. Blake pursues while Sun lands on a branch. "Hey, wait up!"
"Don't let her out of your sight!" Blake shouted adamantly as they kept chase.
The spy emerges from the trees and onto a roof. She continues to run across the buildings, Blake right behind her. Sliding under some arching pipes, she finally turns and stops. Using her weapon in whip form, she slices the pipe, releasing steam to block Blake. It doesn't work; Blake moves right under the pipes through the steam.
"Why are you watching me?" Blake questioned the female spy as the girl smiles and lowers her weapon. Sun lands on the roof behind her, causing her to turn around.
"Give it up! I'm not above hitting a girl, you—" Sun was cut off when the spy's whip comes at him in an attack, which he falls back to avoid. Blake takes advantage of the distraction to kick the Scroll out of the spy's hand. The girl is surprised, avoids Blake's next attack, responds with a kick of her own and attempts to retrieve the Scroll. Sun tackles her instead.
"Grab the Scroll! Seems someone thinks it's important!" Sun shouted to the Cat Faunus as he tried to keep the spy down.
"Get off!" The spy shouted at him as she headbutts Sun, cracking off the part of the mask covering her left eye, and tries to race Blake to the Scroll. Instead, first one and then a total of four clones tackle her. Sun is holding his pose to control his Semblance and Blake pauses.
"Quit staring and grab it!" Sun shouted at Blake as he kept up his pose to keep his control on his Semblance. Blake listens, and Sun finally releases his Semblance, which he had been struggling to maintain, and falls to his knees. The clones disappear from atop the girl. She rises and aims her weapon at Blake.
"Blake, watch out!" Sun called out to her as Blake turns, rising with the Scroll in her hand. She sees the broken Grimm mask crumble from the spy's face.
"Ilia," Blake said in recognition as Sun now got a better look of the spy.
The spy has skin that has somewhat darker spots on her arms, legs, stomach and face, resembling chameleon scales. Her brown hair is tied back in a ponytail that curls at the end like a chameleon's tail, and her eyes are a light gray with a faintly bluish tint.
She wears the required uniform of some of the members Sun saw during the Fall.
Sun stood up and look at Blake, "Wait, you know her?! But she doesn't even look like a f—aagh!"
Sun was cut off again when the now named Ilia strikes an electric hit near his shoulder with her weapon. Sun cries out and falls.
"Sun!" Blake called out in worry.
"Give it to me," Ilia said to Blake.
"No," Blake said as Ilia suddenly change color like a chameleon.
"You shouldn't have come back," Ilia said as she uses her weapon to create a rush of dust, which allows her to escape.
Blake briefly acknowledges that Ilia has disappeared before rushing over to Sun.
"Sun! Sun!" Blake called out in worry as Sun is lying on his back, bleeding from the wound Ilia caused. Blake covers the wound with her hands. "No, no, no, not again, please! Help! Somebody! Hold on, Sun, just hold on."
Suddenly someone lands behind her as Blake look back and saw that it was David the humanized Cinderace.
"Give him to me, we'll get him to safety," David said as Blake nods with tears on her eyes.
They then quickly left to David's and his friends apartment to heal the young male Faunus.
The landscape is looking dreary as Ruby can be heard breathing heavily.
"Just hold on, Uncle Qrow," Ruby said as she and Jaune carry Qrow on a makeshift stretcher. Ren is before them on the path, leading the way while Nora and Pyrrha brings up the rear. Qrow is groaning in pain and is a touch delirious.
"Tai. She's not... coming..." Qrow mumbled while he groan in pain. "Tai."
Qrow then coughs repeatedly.
"He's getting worse," Jaune said.
"How much farther?" Ruby asked in worry.
"We don't know," Pyrrha said.
"We've gotta be close," Nora said.
"Without the map, there's no way of knowing. But I feel like we're close to something," Ren said as he holsters StormFlower.
"What is it?" Ruby asked as she and the three other teens look ahead.
Directly ahead is a fork in the road with a signpost. They are coming from the direction of Higanbana. Kuchinashi and Mistral are to the right, where the land is mountainous. To the left is Kuroyuri, its name crossed out. The path that way remains low ground.
"Hey, hey! Mistral! We're on the right path! Oh..." Nora said.
"Does it say how close?!" Ruby immediately said for her uncle's sake.
"No. And it looks like the path takes us up the mountains," Ren said as Ruby and Jaune set Qrow down.
"Guys, I don't know if all of us can make that climb," Jaune said as Ruby looks at Qrow, concerned, before rushing forward to the signpost.
"Okay. Well, what about this place?" She said as she points to the sign saying Kuroyuri. "Kuro... Kuroyuri? Can we get help there?"
Jaune and Pyrrha approached her.
"That village was destroyed years ago," Ren said.
"But if it takes us around the mountains, it's the best bet we've got," Jaune said.
"It will take too long," Ren said sternly.
"The town would have had a doctor, right? Maybe we could scavenge for medicine!" Ruby pointed out.
"Right!" Jaune agreed.
"It could be," Pyrrha said.
Ren closed his eyes as he look down and shook his head, "We're not going to find anything! We just have to press on!"
Silence...
There is just a brief moment of silence. Ruby watches him, clutching her hands before her chest.
"Ren, why are you acting—"
"We can split up," Nora quickly said as she stood by Ren.
"Huh?" Ruby said in confusion.
Nora puts her hand on Ren's shoulder and said, "Ren and I can cut through the mountains while you and Ruby take Qrow around through the village."
"No, we're supposed to stick together! We keep each other safe!" Jaune said strictly for their safety.
"We don't have time for safe! If we make it to Mistral, we'll bring back help! If we don't, at least we'll have a better view of the land! Up there, we can see if there's somewhere else we can go!" Nora rebutted.
Ren turns and looks at Nora. They exchange small, affectionate smiles. Still holding his gaze, Nora drops her hand from his shoulder. All five remain silent, feeling the weight of the choice before them. Qrow coughs, making them all turn in concern and giving the motive to continue.
The four then look at Pyrrha for the tie breaker.
Pyrrha thought about it carefully and said, "While you are right Jaune, Nora is as well. We need to split up, we'll never know what will happen on both sides, but we will never know if we try."
Jaune look a her then to Nora and Ren.
"OK," Jaune relented as he steps forward and he and Ren hug each other. "Just take care of each other."
Nora smiled at Ren, "We always have."
On the path to Kuroyuri, Jaune and Ruby lift Qrow while Pyrrha look around. They turn to Nora and Ren, who are on the path through the mountains to Mistral with Bacchus and Monarch flying beside them. They nod and Nora waves. Ren starts to turn, looks back one more time, and then runs. Nora follows.
An aerial shot shows the split of the five teen group going in separate directions before the visual focuses in on just Jaune, Pyrrha, and Ruby.
"They're gonna be fine, Jaune," Ruby said confidently to comfort him.
"You don't know that," Jaune said as he was suspicious to their choice.
"I do wish that we haven't, but we need to," Pyrrha said.
Ruby turns forward, her expression saddening. Moving forward, her step leaves an imprint on the ground, shortly after overlapped by Jaune's own while Pyrrha is in front with her weapon ready.. The visual pulls back again, revealing that their footsteps tread over another, larger mark—the same one discovered in Shion.
Omake:
Beginning of the Victory Star
In the world of Pokemon, in the Hoenn Region. There on the school on Rustboro city, in one of its towers, there slept a young Vic in his makeshift home in the tower as he snore softly on his cot.
Knock! Knock!
Then someone is knocking on the hatch of his room as he grumbled in his sleep and continued to snooze.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
The knocking grew louder as Vic now covered his ears with his pillow to muffle out the sound.
SLAM!!
The hatch then slammed open which startled Vic from his sleep as he sit up awake as he look to the now open hatch to see a young woman standing by it.
She has red eyes and brown hair, which is tied up into two pigtails with a red bow, with a small black U-stripe.
She wears a grey school sleeveless uniform skirt with a rectangular print, which is white on the inside. She also wears a white undershirt, with short sleeves and a pair of black shoes.
"Sleeping on your day that you can be a Trainer? You should know better Victor," The woman scolded the short orphan as he pouts at her childishly.
"Sorry Roxanne, I was just really excited that I was watching some battles on my phone," Vic said as the now named Roxanne rub the bridge of her nose in annoyance.
"You kids these days," Roxanne mumbled as she let out a sigh. "Let's just get your stuff ready so we could go to Littleroot."
"Yes mom," Vic mumbled under his breathe while he crossed his arms.
"What was that?" Roxanne asked as she look at him angrily.
"Nothing! Nothing," Vic quickly said.
"I thought so," Roxanne said as she then went down the ladder on the hatch and left.
Vic then soon followed her as he first wore his shirt, pants, and shoes and then quickly went downstairs.
Roxanne is currently by the gate of the school as she has a backpack on her hands as she tap her foot impatiently. She then saw Vic walking out of the door with the students in their classrooms peering out of the windows to cheer for the young orphan.
Vic then stop by the gate as he faced Roxanne.
"Took you long enough," Roxanne said as Vic sheepishly rub the back of his head.
"Sorry, my friends gave me their goodbyes to me so I was held back a little," Vic said as Roxanne could only shake her head with a smile.
"Then you should've slept late," Roxanne said as she then showed Vic the backpack. "It has everything you need for your journey; Camping supplies, extra clothes, some books that you'll need, your own personal credit card, and finally extra underwear."
Vic blushed in embarrassment, "Roxanne!"
Roxanne only giggled as she then gave him the backpack, "Just be safe there alright, find new friends, enjoy some battles, and hope you can find your parents."
"I will," Vic said as he was about to leave till Roxanne grab on his shoulder.
"Hold on for a moment Victor, I still have something to give you," Roxanne said as Vic turned around, and she grabbed a small box in her pocket.
It was an orange box with a green ribbon on it.
She then gave him the box as Vic look out it in surprise and curiosity.
"Inside it is pretty much what you wanted when we go out in the weekends, you were quite adamant to get one of these, and you even cried for it," Roxanne said as Vic look at the box in awe and ripped the ribbon of it and open it.
Vic then gasp in excitement as inside the box is his signature shades.
"It was quite expensive since I bought the more durable version, but I did it for you," Roxanne said as Vic smiled and hugged her. Roxanne was quite surprised by this, but she smiled as well and hugged the young orphan. The two then stop their hugging as Roxanne said, "Let's get you to a bus so you could get to Littleroot faster."
Vic nods as he and Roxanne then left the premises, for the young orphan's very bizzare journey that he will venture soon.
Omake end
And that is it for this chapter.
Like jeez, this story is really on a roll.
Okay, I know some of you wondering why I don't add the parts where Salem has her appearance. Well... I really want to focus to the parts that will be the best part for my story. I want to change the story lines to fit my own so there will be a lot changes here, some of these events really form a big butterfly effect to what I am making right now.
Like for example, just having a crossovers with other series will make a atomic bomb of an effect, and X overs are bigger. If Naruto is somehow transported to the Bleach series then expect a lot of changes, if its an X over then there will be a lot of changes.
That is why, I am having a hard time with my reaction stories because I have to manage a lot of characters in those two stories. Not only that, my head really wants to blow up from the constant ideas that I need to vent out, but venting out one will make more.
This doesn't mean that I quit Arc Music Album, maybe Watching the Elements since it was kinda bore me now, but I do say that it will take a long time to make a chapter that uses a ton of characters from different series.
I am not the best in world building to things that I don't even have any clue on like Naruto but RWBY is okay since I have a way to make it work, but I am improving since I continue this story's flow as it using the original lines can help me add my own for the story to be amazing.
But enough of that, Vic out Peace.
