Chapter:34 The Heart Knows the Truth

In Mistral, Oscar, who is currently letting Ozpin take over, Qrow are seen sitting together while U. Pichu and Hunch is somewhere else Qrow takes a sip from his cup.

"Things aren't looking good, Oz," The drunkard said.

"Ever the optimist," Ozpin then took a sip as well. "While I would not say our current predicament is... ideal, I think we can both agree that the situation could be much worse. Humanity is a resilient force."

"Oz, pro Huntsmen like that don't just bite it all at once. Salem's powerful. It seems like her reach is growing by the day. What does that say about Humanity?" Qrow asked.

"That there are indeed a misguided few who have filled their hearts with malice. It doesn't take a great number of people to cause harm, but I still believe there are far more people in this world willing to prevent it," Ozpin said.

As Ozpin is about to take another sip, Ruby is heard walking into the room.

"Um, excuse me?" Ruby said as the two occupants look at her.

"Ah, Miss Rose, join us. We were just about to gather everyone to discuss our next steps," Ozpin said as he welcomed her in.

"Oh, uh, great," Ruby said in deep thought.

"Something on your mind kiddo?" Qrow asked.

"Uh... uh, it's... if it's okay to ask," Ruby said because she doesn't want to be rude.

"Of course," Her uncle said.

"Well, uh... we've been talking about the Relic at Haven... and the Spring Maiden, but... what about the Fall Maiden?" Ruby asked.

"Cinder?" Ozpin said.

"Does that mean... Salem has the Beacon Relic," Ruby said as Ozpin and Qrow share a brief look with each other.

"Very astute, Miss Rose, I was wondering who would be the first to ask. No, thankfully she does not. It's true that the Relic at Haven is very much at risk, and for now, that should remain our primary focus. Let's just say I made finding the Relic at Beacon a... bit more challenging than at the other schools," Ozpin said.

"Oh," Ruby then sigh in relief. "That's good to hear."

"It is, but let's not forget the challenges that still lie before us," Ozpin said as the redhead girl nods.

"Now is there anything else we can help you with?" Ozpin asked.

"Oh, uh... well, I did have one more question."

"No, my cane is not a Relic."

"I have no more questions," Ruby said as everyone in the room giggled.

"Yes, while this cane is indeed very precious to me, it is also just that - precious to me. While I admit it still has a few more tricks up its sleeve, I can firmly say that being a Relic isn't one of them. Now why don't you run and get the other students?" Ozpin requested as suddenly, Qrow's scroll is heard vibrating. He takes it out from his pocket to see "LEO LIONHEART" calling. He takes the call.

"Yeah? ... Okay... yeah, we'll be there," Qrow said as he then hang up.

"Who was it?" Ruby asked as Qrow sighs and takes out his flask.

"It was Leo, says he had a breakthrough with the council. Thinks he might be able to get together a small raiding party for the bandits. He wants us to meet up at the school tomorrow night to walk us through it," Her uncle said as she gasp and smiles.

"Really? Oh that's great! I'll go get the others," Ruby said cheerfully as she runs out of the room while Qrow takes a drink from his flask.

"Mmm, that sounds drastically different from your original conversation, does it not?" Ozpin said.

"It does," Qrow answered.

"Interesting..."

"Things aren't looking good, Oz. Looks like Nomad's hunch is right."

"I know..."

At Leonardo Lionheart's office, the Haven headmaster sits at his desk in front of a blue holographic screen with the text "CALL END" before deactivating. Raven stands a few feet away from him, arms crossed and smiling.

"I still have questions for you," Raven said.

"You're not alone in that," Leonardo said as the bandit leader walk up to his desk.

"You know, I never expected you would be the one to have the guts to betray Oz. Which makes me wonder, what does she have on you?" She asked.

"I'm helping her for the same reason you are - I'm afraid. We... we can't stop her... no one can..." Leonardo said solemnly.

"That's why I tried to leave when I did. I'm not afraid, I'm smart," Raven corrected him.

"You can call it whatever you want, it doesn't really matter. We're here... helping her," The Haven Headmaster said as he buried his face on his hands and sighs. "I've crossed a line... I've done things that Ozpin will never forgive, and he shouldn't! I don't know where I go from here."

Raven placed her hands on his desks and yelled at him, "Man up! You did what you had to do to survive, there is no shame in that."

"Who are you trying to convince?" Leonardo questioned her.

Raven doesn't say anything, she just leaves the room while Lionheart sadly leans back sighing.

In Menagerie, the assault on the Belladonna Family Home continues. In the darkened tea room, Kali and a guard fire back at unseen assailants. Kali runs out of ammo in her pistol and throws it to the ground in annoyance. She then picks up a tea tray to block another shot. She looks to a wounded female guard leaning against a pillar, who just stares back.

"Do you have a better idea?" Kali asked.

Suddenly, Yuma flies in and knocks down the other guard to the ground. He wraps his hands around the guard's throat to choke him out.

"Quiet now..." He said with no remorse as he keep choking the guard.

Kali then lifts the tea tray above her head, her hair suddenly turned to a deep purple and her eyes turned green, and does a loud battle cry as she runs toward Yuma.

"Ma'am, no!" The guard called to Kali as Yuma lets go of the guard's neck as he looks back in surprise as Kali approaches him as it followed by a loud thunk.

Elsewhere, Blake and Ilia stare at each other from their positions, both holding their weapons.

"Did you come in here to hide?" Blake said as she look at her former friend warily.

"I told you, I didn't want this," Ilia said to her.

"But you're still here!" Blake pointed out.

"I don't have a choice!" Ilia said to reason with the Cat Faunus.

"Of course you do!" Blake rebutted as Ilia doesn't say anything, she just looks away."Just... stay out of my way."

Blake puts Gambol Shroud on her back and starts walking away. Suddenly, Ilia leaps and charges at Blake but her form disappears. Blake then reappears a few feet away behind Ilia. Blake holds Gambol Shroud in a defensive stance, while Ilia begins to attack with the whip form of Lightning Lash. Blake dodges and rolls. She runs along the desks and chairs in the room as Ilia tries to use her whip to hit her. Blake manages to dodge and block Ilia's attacks, and uses her ribbon to wrap around Ilia's wrist. Ilia is pulled toward Blake, followed up with the latter kicking the chameleon Faunus to the ground. The two then lock blades with each other.

"Why do you feel like we have to hurt people to get our way?!" Blake questioned her as she tried to push her back.

Ilia grunted and said, "Because it works!"

"That doesn't make it right!"

Ilia pulls the trigger on her weapon, generating an electrical charge that causes Blake to drop her katana a few feet away from her. Blake pulls out her cleaver, but Ilia jumps from the desk and does a turn kick that knocks Blake over another desk, causing her to drop her weapon. Ilia whips at Blake again, but she uses her Semblance to get out of the way. Blake takes cover behind a desk as her hair and cat ears began to turn purple with her eyes gaining a speck of green.

"Stop lecturing me!!" Ilia yelled at her as Blake peeks from behind the desk and notices Ilia's Grimm mask left behind on the ground. Ilia quietly turns the lights off in the room, causing it to go dark. Blake quickly goes to pick up her katana while Ilia sneaks around the room camouflaged. Blake hears a creak on the floor, Ilia quickly knocks her back. Blake uses the pistol form of her weapon to shoot at Ilia, who quickly evades the shots. "Why couldn't you just leave?!"

Blake's weapon then changed to its katana form as she said, "Because I run away too much."

Blake dodges a couple more whips from Ilia who has moved up to the balcony. As she takes cover behind the desks, Blake takes out two cartridges - one with fire Dust and the other with ice. She loads the fire Dust cartridge in her weapon and aims at the shrubbery at the top corner of the room.

"Sorry, dad," Blake muttered as she fires her weapon and the spreading flames start to light up the room, revealing Ilia's location. With camouflage not an option anymore, Ilia engages Blake in combat. The two start off with a mixture of sword clashes and hand-to-hand. Blake dodges out of the way of one of Ilia's attacks and starts shooting at her with the pistol form of her weapon. Ilia deflects the shots with her whip.

"Quit taking potshots and fight me like you mean it!!" Ilia yelled in anger as Blake dodges another one of Ilia's whips and lands on the balcony above her. She takes cover behind the railing as Ilia rants at her. "You used to see things the way I did! The way Adam did! If no one's going to do anything to stop the humans that attack us, then the only choice we have left... is to attack back!!"

Blake loads another cartridge in her pistol and begins to fire at Ilia again. Ilia deflects the shots, but when she goes to use her whip again, her weapon is frozen in place. Suddenly, a ribbon is wrapped around her weapon as Blake pulls it away and she leaps from the balcony to kick Ilia to the ground. Blake holds Ilia down.

"You're wrong, there's always another choice," Blake said as Ilia struggles to get up as Blake continues to hold her down.. "Ilia... please. You're a good person but you're making all the wrong decisions!"

"SHUT UP!!" Ilia yelled in anger as she kept struggling.

"Is this really what your parents would've wanted?!" Blake questioned her former friend's sanity.

"I don't know what else to do!!" Ilia said as she sound so broken as she suddenly ceases her struggling and her eyes start to well up. "I don't know what else to do..."

As Ilia continues sobbing, Blake hears a rumble. Corsac is thrown through the wall, dropping his half of Cyclone and Inferno. Ghira and Sienna jumps into the room as the two of them growls at Corsac. Ghira then notices his daughter pinning Ilia to the ground.

"Blake!" He called out to her.

He was about to be stabbed on the back by Fennec, but the other brother got shot by bullets made from pure water.

The window of the room is was then busted open as Yunero flew straight through it as he fired more water bullets with his hands.

"Not today," Yunero said as he then joined the two adults to fight the brothers.

As Blake is distracted by this, Ilia gets her off her and kicks her into a nearby chair, knocking Blake out momentarily. As Yunero and Sienna fought off Fennec, Ghira went to Corsac and the two clash fist with each other. Ilia just stares in disbelief at what's going on around her, before a voice snaps her out of her trance.

"Ilia! What are you doing?! Fight!!" Fennec yelled as he pulls out another wand and charges at his two opponents. Yunero quickly fired some water bullets again as Sienna went in to clothesline him. Fennec quickly dodges the bullets but he was slow on evading Sienna's outreach arm and was hit on the stomach by it when he tried to jump over a shot to his leg.

With Ghira, he continued to fight the tailed brother as he took the right moment to grab him and toss him back several feet away and is knocked unconscious.

"BROTHER!!!" Fennec called out in worry as he quickly recovered from the hit he took and tries to attack Ghira again, but Sun jumps in and kicks him away followed by David. Sun sees Blake struggling to get back up and clenches his fist. He then angrily glares at Ilia who continues to stand watching the fight.

"Go help Blake!" Ghira ordered the Monkey Faunus.

"On it!" Sun said as he pulls out Ruyi Bang and Jingu Bang and engages Ilia in combat. He slams the staff down but misses, then jumps back to dodge her sweeping leg. Ilia back-flips away from his next swing and tries to kick him. Sun turns to dodge then splits his weapon, landing a blow on her back. He delivers a flurry of attacks with his shotgun nunchucks that overwhelms Ilia and leaves her open to a kick in the side. Rejoining the split halves to block Lightning Lash, which finishes thawing as they struggle. Ilia smiles before trying to shock him, only for the trigger to jam. Her eyes widen as she tries again while Sun shoves her back. She is then pushed against a pillar by Sun with a jab to the stomach. Before she can move he pins her against it with his weapon. Nearby, Fennec tried to fight but he was overwhelmed by the combined forces of Yunero, Sienna, and David as the Fox Faunus was then sent back to the hole.

"RAAHHH!!!" Suddenly everyone stop as they look around till they saw Blake and was in shock.

Her hair and cat ears were now a deep purple and her glaring eyes were a beautiful green, she was snarling and letting out a staggered breath while a dark miasma comes out of her back. She then suddenly ran to Sun and Ilia on all fours while her hands were covered in a purple aura.

"What the..." David was in shock on what he is seeing.

"Quick! Restrain her!" Yunero quickly ordered David.

"Oh right!" David said as the two friends ran to them.

Ilia quickly pushed Sun away as the feral Blake went to slash at her, but quickly evaded it by a meter. When Ilia pushed Sun, he hits the pillar. Suddenly the pillar starts to crack even more, Sun moves out of the way quickly as the balcony above Ilia and Blake is about to fall over them. Ghira quickly held the fallen balcony with his own strength with Sienna helping along as she showed a surprising amount of strength.

Ilia continued to avoid Blake's Aura covered hands in fear of what she was seeing and quickly trip from running as she tried to crawl on her back when Blake was pounce at her. Suddenly, Yunero and David tackled Blake down as they tried to calm her down.

"Blake snap out of it!" David said as he struggled to hold her down as he was quite surprised that she quickly gain enough strength to get free.

"We need to knock her down!" Yunero said as he set his eyes on Ilia's shaking form. "Chameleon girl! Help us here!"

"What!" Both and Ilia yelled together in shock.

"Help us or you are going to get mauled by her!" Yunero yelled as he and David were now struggling to keep Blake down. "We don't have all day!"

Ilia hesitated for a moment and quickly ran up to the two and help to hold Blake down.

While the three were trying to hold down the feral Blake, He grabs both of their wands and runs towards Ghira. Sun saw this and quickly summoned some clones of himself and they quickly grab Ghira and Sienna out of there as Fennec lands just below the falling balcony. Fennec is then crushed by the balcony, and the Dust in the wands explode from impact, ensuring the younger Albain's death. Afterwards, Kali enters the room dragging an unconscious Yuma, who has his hands tied behind his back.

Kali then saw Blake going feral while being held down by Yunero, David, and Ilia as Blake get them off her as she continued her rampage as Yunero and David tried to pin her down again yet Blake easily outmaneuver and hit them at their weak points with a snarl on her face.

Kali then quickly ran up to Blake as her hair and eyes turned to the same color as Blake. Her right fist is then covered by a dark aura as she suddenly appeared in front of them and slaps Blake on the cheek very hard with the hit knocking her out.

The three of them then let go Blake as Kali sighs and embraced her daughter's unconscious body.

"What have you done?" Everyone then turned to see Corsac standing up as he look at them in anger. "You ruined everything... EVERYTHIIIIIIING!!!"

Everyone take defensive stances. Corsac angrily runs forward, but suddenly, Lightning Lash wraps around his body, electrocuting him and knocking him unconscious. With the battle over, Ilia starts to cry and falls to her knees as she breaks down, with Yunero went up to calm her while everyone else looked on.

Outside of the Belladonna's home, a large crowd of Faunus gathers outside, noticing the smoke coming from the building.

"Back! Everyone, stay back! We've got people inside doing their best," They then heardbtheir chieftain's voice as they look to the door.

"Look!" One of them shouted as from the smoky doorway, Ghira walks out carrying the motionless bodies of a White Fang soldier and a Menagerie Guard on each of his shoulders. He hands the bodies to two guards as the head of the guards arrived.

"Get in there! Search for any stragglers!" The leader ordered as more guards walk out keeping Corsac restrained, followed by a weaken Blake, Kali, Sun, Ilia and others. And some of residence were quite shock to see Sienna with them.

John, Charles, and Drago then ran up to them as they checked for any injuries on Yunero and David, but relieved that they were okay.

"We came as soon as we got the call," The head guard said to Ghira as he notices Corsac being forced to his knees. "And Fennec?"

Ghira sadly shakes his head. Saber walks over to Corsac.

"Was it worth it," The head guard said snarkily as Corsac looks down, defeated. As the commotion continues, Blake shares brief looks with Sun and Ilia. Blake takes a deep sigh as she goes steadily down the steps. Ghira notices his daughter walking away.

"Blake!" Ghira called out to her but before he could go any further, his wife stops him, and both look on. Blake then stops at one of the steps as she begins to address the crowd.

"Humans didn't do this," Blake said as she points at the smoke coming from her house. "We did this: Faunus. We did this to ourselves. We are just as capable of hate and violence as the humans, but I don't think any of us would jump at the chance to point that out. So why are we letting Adam do it for us?! By doing nothing and staying silent, we let others speak and act in our place. And if we're not proud of the choices they make, then we have no one to blame but ourselves. This is the message that Adam Taurus will bring to the world if no one stops him. But we can stop him! You have to understand that all of you are looking for simple answers to a very complicated problem. And I can't give that to you. I don't know how to make hate go away, I don't. But I know that this kind of violence is not the solution. I understand that to ask you to leave your homes and protect Haven Academy is asking you to put your lives at risk. But that's what's at stake. So I'm going, and I'll stand by myself if I have to."

"I'll stand with you!" Blake then turns around with a surprised look on her face as Ilia stands up. Her pained expression then looks down. "If... if you'd have me."

"Isn't that the White Fang girl?"

"I thought she hated the Belladonnas."

"Calm down children!" The crowd then stop to see Taihou the Turtle Faunus walking as they quickly move away to let him through.

Kali and Sienna then walk towards him as they went down the stairs, and bowed to the elderly Faunus which shocked the others.

"Kali, Sienna," Taihou said as the two women stood up straight.

"Master Taihou," The two of them said as everyone were quite shock to here this.

Taihou then look at the crowd and said, "My people, we should not judge this young lady by what she was before, but what she is now. In that very moment, while we didn't see it, we could see that she indeed change, and what we should do now. All of us are indeed blinded by our hate in some time in our lives, but doesn't mean that we should resort to violence. We are not our ancestors and we should finally change our ways!"

Everyone were in awe at his words and were truly inspired by them.

Taihou then look at Blake and Ilia, "Come down young ones and show them."

Blake and Ilia then walk down the steps as they stood with each other proudly.

"I'll go!" They then saw the Ram Faunus from before, steps forward and raises his hand, followed by many more.

"I'll go too!"

"I'll stand with you! I'll go!! Yeah!! Me too! Let's go! Yeah, let's go!!"

As more Faunus start to give Blake their support, Sun and David walks down the steps to join her and Ilia. The crowd is heard cheering as a majority agree to volunteer. They all smile at the crowd.

"Looks like we've got work to do," Sun said.

"Thank you," Blake said as she felt overjoyed by this.

"You stabbed me," Sun said as she points at Ilia and she looks down sorrowfully.

"I-" She was cut off when Sun pinched her arm. "Ow!"

"There. Let's just call it even."

Ghira and the rest of Randy's team walk down the steps to join everyone else.

"We have about two weeks before Adam's attack on Haven. We're going to need shields, training, whatever we can do to protect as many people as possible," Ghira said.

"We'll take care of that," Charles said as Yunero, John, Drago, and David stood beside him. "We also got a heads up that Randy and Lanaya are currently in Mistral waiting."

"We'll need transportation too. For everyone," Kali said as Blake smiled.

"I think I know a ship captain who owes us a favor," Blake said as Sun grins and nods.

"But before that," Taihou cut in. "I think your mother have some explaining to do.

Blake then look to her mother as Kali sighs.

"Sooner or later. You would eventually to learn something for me," Kali said as they then heard a loud cry.

They then look up to see Fox the Staraptor circling above the air and quickly go down and landed on Drago's shoulder with a letter on his right leg. Yunero took the letter as he reads it and was quite surprised.

"What did it says?" David asked.

"That's not our only backup," He said as everyone were quite confused till they heard hundreds of different calls from everywhere as they looked to the western horizon and were shock to see something coming to them by and air and sea.

They could clearly see that those aren't just boats or Bullheads, but living creatures heading towards them in hundreds.

The Pokemons have shown themselves to the Faunus populous.

And that is it for this chapter.

Next up is the battle in Haven!!

And yes I am having an army of Pokemons helping. I kinda plan this for the end but I watched some clips Volume 8 where Penny. Dies. Again!!!!

Why! She was turned human and she was killed again! Just seeing the part with the blood made me so sad and mad in the same time. No matter! I will not let that happen here, she is Vic's girlfriend and she will gain plot armor. I know that this would be spoilers but can you blame me? There are some Penny fans out there and I am one of them, so I will let her live.

Anyways, I will still keep doing my other stories but my schedule is full with VTR dates so I don't have enough time for my other stories. So the update of my other stories is completely random, no distinct dates when it will ever update or any time that it would happen, so just don't expect me having to update my other stories when you like it.

So for now, I'll see you guys on the next chapter and expect the upcoming battle in Haven.
