Hey yo everyone. I am back for another chapter for V!T!R!

Victory through Remnant really reached my expectations from views alone and I hope for it to be like this or even better.

After all of this months, this story of mine went through a lot of trials, the story itself, my own memory, the low amount of people following the story, and the need for OCs.

But I surpass them all and I am confident enough that this story will reach the end despite the follows as I am really dedicated to keep this going till the end.

So for now, I hope you guys will enjoy the chapter.

Chapter:38 Distrust to Truth

Somewhere in the snowy lands of Mistral, Cinder's body is seen floating in water, ice chunks surrounding her. A closeup of her right eye suddenly opens up, twitching as she comes to terms with her current situation. Bubbles escape from her mouth as she struggles to get upright in the water. She activates her Maiden powers. The sound of Cinder gasping for breath is the only thing that can be heard.

She is next seen crawling out of the pool of water onto the shore of an underground cave. Cinder holds her hand out and tries to activate a small flame in her hands, but it dies out quickly. Cinder grunts in frustration, slamming her Grimm-like fist to the ground, unknowingly opening up an exit to the cave. She looks up to see light pouring through the crack as well as the sound of howling wind. Cinder then looks up to notice the Vault under Haven Academy where she foughta gainst Raven. Cinder then uses her Grimm fist to punch at the crack in the wall.

Cinder staggers out of the cave and into the rain. She struggles to walk for a bit before collapsing to the ground, dragging herself through the mud. A woman can be heard approaching her.

"Gods, are you okay?" The woman said as she holds a basket of food, looks down at Cinder in concern. "Where did you...?"

Cinder crawls forward, revealing her Grimm arm. The woman gasps and drops her basket. Cinder then looks up to the frightened woman, activating her Maiden powers and smiling evilly...

Before the the incident with the Argus Limited, Team RWBY, JNPR, Nomad, Randy, and Qrow are seen back at the house in Mistral.

"We need to take the Relic to Atlas?" Ruby asked.

"That's what Oz said," Qrow said as everyone look at Weiss.

"You've got to be joking..." Weiss could only say.

"I mean, bright side, we finally get out of this house! If it doesn't work, Vicky is still there," Nora reminded them as Weiss sighs.

"Well trust me, I'm not crazy about it either. And without the Spring Maiden here to seal the Relic back in its Vault, it's our best option," Qrow said.

"Atlas may be the safest kingdom we have at the moment, but their borders are closed. General Ironwood called everyone back," Ren said.

"Eh, not everyone," Qrow said as he activates his Scroll, showing a hologram of a highlighted portion of land. "The city of Argus is a ways north of us and it's the primary trading port between Anima and Solitas. They've got the largest Atlas military base outside the kingdom. There's no way they'd leave it abandoned, and if we play our cards right, I think there's a good chance we could convince them to escort us straight to Ironwood."

"I mean, we do have the missing Heiress to the Schnee Dust Company and we have Vic on the inside," Blake said.

"If they even wanted to," Weiss said.

"True, true. But if there's a chance of reward money, I say we go for it," Yang said as the heiress couldn't help but groan.

"Hopefully the first option will suffice," Ozpin said as Oscar let him take control of his body.

"Glad to see you're feeling better," Qrow said.

"Likewise, and while I'm sure we could all use more time to recover, I'm afraid time is of the essence," Ozpin said.

"Right, as long as that thing's out in the open, its power could fall into the wrong hands," Blake said.

"Speaking of, what does it do exactly? Qrow never really told us," Jaune said as everyone look at Oscar's possessed body.

"Now that you mentioned it, what does this Relic do?" Randy asked as Ozpin faced them.

"Of course," Ozpin then detached the Relic from his hip. "The Relic of Knowledge has a wonderful, and incredibly dangerous ability. Its user can ask any question, and the Lamp will provide an answer."

"Intriguing..." Ren said in awe.

"That's incredible..." Blake said.

"Just holy smokes," Nomad could only said.

"Indeed. However, it's not without drawbacks. The Lamp cannot tell of events that have yet to happen, and it will only ever answer three questions every one hundred years," Ozpin explained.

"Well, I guess that's not so bad. Adds a lot of pressure though," Yang said.

"Then let's put it to a vote!" Nora declared as she zips around the room, causing Ruby, Randy and Nomad to jump and Qrow to spit out his coffee. "What should we ask first? Oh! Can we ask for more questions? CAN WE ASK FOR MORE QUESTIONS?!"

Ren facepalm and said, "They're not wishes..."

Ozpin chuckles and said, "I'm afraid you won't be able to ask it anything at the moment." Nora grunts in frustration when she heard that. "The questions were used before I sealed it away."

"Well, at least now we know what it is. And we'll be sure to keep it safe!" Ruby declared.

Back in the present day, Ruby scours through the train wreckage and picks up Dust bullets, before looking to see the Relic of Knowledge slightly buried in the snow nearby. Yang can be heard complaining as she struggles to get Bumblebee out of the snow.

"Great! This is just great! We're stranded,we lost a third of our party, and we've gained a defenseless old lady, a kid, and a small fox!" Yang yelled out in frustration as with one final heave, Yang manages to extricate Bumblebee, but falls over to the ground, with her motorcycle following suit as she's partially covered in snow.

"My name is Maria Calavera, and I am not defenseless! I'm just a little hard of hearing. And blind without my eyes, that are in desperate need of repair," The now named Maria said as she taps on her prosthetics, which open wide and close, before opening narrowly again. "Okay, I'm starting to see your point."

"Sorry about not getting to the other cart in time because somebody wanted to stay and watch," The unnamed teen said as she glared then look at the group. "My name is Meliodas by the way, but call me Mel."

"Nice to meet you," Nora is the only greeting them.

Qrow grunted and said, "Yang, knock it off, will ya? If we lose our cool now, we'll just be inviting even more Grimm."

"Does that even matter? Apparently, we've been attracting Grimm ever since we left Haven," Blake said.

"Oh, and how could I forget about that?" Yang said sharply as she look at Oscar. "What happened to no more lies and half truths?"

"Yeah, I think it's time we got an explanation..." Oscar said as his eyes glow as control of his body is switched to Ozpin, who furrows his brow at Yang's accusations and said. "I did not lie to you..."

"Well you certainly didn't tell us everything about the Relic," Weiss said.

"Please, now is not the time."

"No, we're past that! I wanna know why you're still not telling us everything!" Yang yelled.

"It is true that the Grimm are attracted to the Relics. It's faint, but undeniable. I believe it has to do with their origin, but I'm not entirely sure. Regardless, I feared that making you all aware would only add anxiety and negativity. It seemed like the safer option," Ozpin said to defend himself.

"You know, I'm getting real tired of people choosing what's best for me," Weiss said in agitation.

"The other people who've I've met would say the same," Nomad said as he crossed his arms.

"Is that why you chose to lie to everyone about Lionheart too?" Yang questioned.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I believed the Kingdom of Mistral deserved better than the truth. And I believed Leonardo deserved to be remembered for his lifetime of service, and not for the unfortunate missteps he made in his final years," Ozpin said as Yang could only look at him in disbelief.

"Missteps?!" Yang yelled in outrage.

"I could guess that its not," Mel whispered to Maria.

"Why ask me? I'm old remember," Maria said.

"What Professor Lionheart did was reprehensible. I am not here to argue differently, but does one lapse in judgment truly negate all of his good? Do we not all have regrets? You may have met Professor Lionheart, but you never met the man he was before Salem found him," Ozpin grimly reminded them.

"Look, we're supposed to be in this together. You can trust us! We're not gonna turn our backs on you."

"Do you really think Leo was the first?!" Ozpin raised his voice at them which made U. Pichu ran to the white fox's side as everyone stops. "That he didn't say those exact same words to me? I'm sorry, but you have to understand that my behaviors are backed by experience. I'm not saying that I have reason to think you will betray me. I'm saying that I have reasons for the things that I do, the secrets I keep, the reason I..." Ozpin suddenly suddenly stops and realizes something. "Where's the Relic?"

"Right here," Ruby said as she held the Relic on her hands. "It got scattered in the crash."

"Please, hand it over," Ozpin said as he reaches his hand out, but Ruby hesitates.

"So all those times you talked about having faith in humanity, that was just for everyone else?" Ruby questioned as Ozpin sighs.

"That's not what I meant to suggest. Miss Rose, the Relic is a powerful item and I simply feel as though it is my burden to bear," Ozpin said.

"But, you said it couldn't do anything right now," Ruby pointed out.

"Why does it matter who carries it?" Blake questioned.

"You're not convincing anyone Ozpin," Nomad said as he kinda grew tired of the Headmaster's constant defenses.

"I need you to listen to me--" Ozpin was then cut off as he was about to reach for the Relic, but suddenly is stopped, stuck in his position.

"Oz?" Qrow said in worry.

"Hurry... he's... trying to stop you!" Oscar said as he struggled to take back control.

"Stop her from what?" Yang asked.

"He's afraid... you'll find out what he's... hiding!" Oscar said as he suddenly collapses with Nomad quickly catching him, Yang, Weiss and Blake glare at the boy with intense looks while Ruby holds the Relic of Knowledge defensively.

"Her name is Jinn. Say her name to summon her," Oscar said as he held on Nomad for support.

"Her name?" Ruby questioned as the wind picks up much more gradually, blowing snow even harder. The Relic starts to glow in Ruby's hands. "Jinn?"

Suddenly, the snow stops, floating in midair. The wind stops blowing too.

"What?" Qrow could only say as Hunch could only look around warily.

Ruby then lets go of the Relic as it floats a short distance away, cyan smoke emanates from it. Suddenly, the lamp is enveloped in the smoke, and from it, a giant, semi-nude feminine figure emerges. Her skin and hair is colored blue, and decorated with gold jewelry and ornaments. The figure stretches and moans as she has been awakened once again.

"Wonderful," The female spirit said as everyone stares at her in awe. "Tell me, what knowledge do you seek?"

Back in Mistral, Cinder, now dressed in the clothes of the woman she encountered earlier, steps out of an alleyway. Her Grimm arm is bandaged up. She looks to her left and notices a holographic screen showing portraits of her and her allies. A subtitle below says "LAST KNOWN LOCATION: HAVEN ACADEMY, APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO".

"The perpetrators, Cinder Fall, Hazel Rainart, Emerald Sustrai, and Mercury Black have still not been seen since the attack and are presumed to have fled the city. The Mistral police department is offering a reward to any citizen..." The newscaster said as Cinder realizes that she's a wanted criminal and puts her hood up to conceal her identity. She walks out into the rainy streets of Mistral, among crowds of people with their umbrellas up. People still carry out their businesses as usual, both legally and illegally. As Cinder continues walking, she notices a symbol - a spiderweb with a spider in it - etched into the wall.

Cinder then walks into a restaurant, with some of the customers bearing tattoos similar to the symbol she found. She then walks up to a woman, who she presumed is leader of the gang.

She is a heavy-set middle-aged woman with light skin and short blonde hair kept in a bob haircut. She has a spider in its web tattooed on her left shoulder, a beauty mark under her right eye, lipstick on her upper lip and purple nail polish on her fingernails. The top of her dress is white and backless, with long sleeves and details, such as beads and straps, in purple. Below is a purple corset, and a long pleated skirt that is yellow on its top layer, purple in the middle one, and white in the lower layer. Her shoes are brown and decorated with a green ribbon.

The woman then notices her just as she was about to have her meal and said, "That's far enough."

Her two bodyguards walk up to Cinder, blocking her way. Cinder tosses down a sack full of Lien on the table.

"Okay," The woman said as bodyguards step back and Cinder takes a seat across from her.

"You're Lil' Miss Malachite?" Cinder said questioningly as the now named Lil' Miss took out her fan.

"I'm Lil' Miss Gon'-Skin-You-Alive if you ever take that tone with me again," She said as she looks to the Lien on the table. "Looks like your life's savings."

"It was somebody's," Cinder said as Lil' Miss laughs.

"Cute," Lil' Miss said as she close her fan. "What do you want for it?"

Cinder pulls out her scroll, showing portraits of Nomad, Team JNPR, and Team RWBY and said, "I'm looking for these travelers."

"Well, sweetheart, you came to the right place," Lil' Miss said as Cinder jolts a little as she looks behind her, noticing a man entering and being greeted by his group of friends sitting around a table. Lil' Miss chuckled and continued. "A little jumpy today, hmm? You know, I used to be afraid of spiders. Want to know what I did about it?"

"Learn to kill them?" Cinder said.

"Oh no, the world needs spiders. I just made the spiders work for me," She said as Cinder looks around, noticing all of the customers have the tattoo of spiderweb, insinuating that they all work for Lil' Miss. "Give us a week, we'll find your travelers."

Cinder then gets up and leaves.

"Lil' Miss, we already know where they are. That big guy asked about 'em last week," The female bodyguard said.

"I know we know, but what we don't know is who here in Mistral might be asking about her..." She said rather ominously.

Back in the snow, Maria adjusts her goggles to get a better look at what's in front of her while Mel could only look in amazement as well with the Alolan Vulpix but in curiosity.

"I am Jinn, a being created by the God of Light to aid Humanity in its pursuit of knowledge. I've been graced with the ability to answer three questions every one hundred years. You're in luck, as I am still able to answer--"

"That's enough!" Everyone looks to Ozpin, who managed to regain control over Oscar's body as Nomad quickly let go of him and went by Qrow's side.

".. two questions this era," The now named Jinn said as everyone is shocked, despite Ozpin telling them that the Relic won't work for them beforehand. Jinn then chuckles and said, "It's a pleasure to see you again, old man."

"Ruby, please... Don't," Ozpin pleaded as Qrow glances to Ozpin, and steps forward.

"Hey," Qrow said as Yang, Weiss, and Blake suddenly went for the defensive at Qrow. Ruby stares in disbelief while Nomad is contemplating the situation. Qrow then relented and said. "Do whatever you think is right, kiddo."

Ruby then ponders a question and said, "Jinn?"

Ruby turns around to face Jinn, who has a curious look on her face, while Ozpin grits his teeth in anger.

"What is Ozpin hiding from us?"

"NOOOOOOO!!"

Ruby gasps and looks behind her. Ozpin lunges forward and is about to touch her, but suddenly, Ruby finds herself alone in a blank white space.

"Wha-- what? Weiss? Yang?" Ruby stuttered.

Yang then also appeared in the blank white space but she couldn't see anyone.

"Blake? Ru--" Yang tried to called out to anyone, but it was quickly switched to Weiss as she was also in the blank space without anyone in sight.

"--by? Ruby?" Weiss tried to called out as well, and the view quickly switched to Blake in the space as well in the same situation as the four.

"Yang?" Blake said as she look around.

Suddenly, an environment manifests, showing a path leading to a castle in the distance. A woman humming can be heard in the background.

"Once upon a time, there stood a lonely tower..."

Smoke envelops Blake, and Qrow appears where she was along with Hunch. He looks behind him while the Disaster Pokemon look around warily.

"...that sheltered a lonely girl."

It then showed Nomad in the blank space as well as he also look around with U. Pichu on his shoulder while a rather beautiful woman sitting in front of a mirror then appears somewhere else.

The woman has fair skin, pale platinum blonde hair and light blue eyes. She wore most her hair in a half up-done bun style, with a small, simple bun on the top, and the remainder of her long, straight hair hanging at the bottom. Most of her bangs were tied back, barring several large locks that framed her face to her left.

She wore a white, two piece dress consisting of a sleeveless, diagonally overlapping white backless pleated top with a raised, pale blue halter-top square collar adorned with an aquamarine colored rhombus-shaped crystal on the clavicle, surrounded by two smaller white rhombuses. Her long, high-waisted skirt was white with a faint purple tint - adorned with white diamond emblems and white wavy lines near the bottom hem, ruffled around the waist and completed with a purple sash. For accessories, she wore gray, circular earrings, a pair of dull brown bracers, and a thin leather strip that holds the same crystal over the sash, and her long fingernails were painted pale lilac. If noticed carefully, she also has on faint purple heeled flats obscured by the skirt.

Ruby is then seen walking up to her.

"Named... Salem."

And that is it for this chapter.

Holy moly, this story is really getting far.

I am not really expecting this story to even reach this far during the beginning, but I eventually have something to help me continue this story.

I really think that this story would reach the end if the series continues, because it would, and eventually reach the end of it. I might actually create my own ending to give it a good send off.

I really, really, really want this story to finish as I really want to be a personal achievement to me that I actually accomplished something you know.

I have a dream and the motivation, but doubt comes along. After reading a lot stories, I have learned many things from human emotions and possibilities in life, and that begins my doubt as I keep reading.

There will be good possibilities while there are also bad possibilities. Yes I made a lot of OCs but I can't focus on thinking of their stories because of how many they are, I only have a few OCs that actually have a story background in my mind. This made me think of my own possibilities in life when I keep creating theirs.

Many roads that are created for me while I created roads for my OCs, this is the life of person with the aspect of creativity with many ideas. I have a good sense of creative intelligence but I am fool to make a lot of roads. Like they said, if one person is intelligent, they can be fools to their own desicions.

No matter how good I am to creating my OCs and stories, I would foolish go forward to do more. But people always make a lot of mistakes and mine is making stories in a young age. I knew that I was too young at the time but my enjoy of discovering that I could make my own stories overwhelms me and I began to create my stories.

A lot of failures yet I never gave up; despite those fails that I have made, I kept going to make them better; despite the doubts that I met face to face, I kept looking forward to see the end, despite the trials that I come across, I kept enduring them.

I am still a teenager and I have a lot things that I need to do, I have grew up with people that is a year younger than me in school and I adapt to their ways. I always thought of how different my life is if I actually went along someone similar to my age, but I know that I can't change it so I just kept looking forward.

That is just my life and I think some of you guys as well, either before or now, have experienced this as well. You follow along with your peers and you would get some of their personalities. I was once a kid with ADHD but I am now a quiet and serious teen yet I still keep my childish tendencies. My only interest is my work along those songs I always hear, but I am adapt to more that uses a pen and a paper.

But I think that is enough of my life story and I am sorry that I have to add this, but this always let out my pent up emotions when I couldn't let it out physically.

So anyways, I hope you enjoyed the story and I'll see you guys in the next chapter.

Vic out Peace.
