Chapter:45 Mindful Questions

In the Land of Darkness at Salem's keep, Hollowed laughters were heard as Emerald is sitting on the floor while Mercury is training around the room with punches and kicks.

"I hate being kept in the dark like this..." Emerald said in annoyance.

"Yeah, Cinder was a pain, but at least she kept us filled in," Mercury said as he continued training.

"Can I ask you something?" Emerald said.

"You're gonna."

"Why did you come with us, the night Cinder and I found you?"

"Why are you asking--"

"Just answer the question," Emerald cut him off.

"Just made sense."

"I made sense?" Emerald said in confusion.

"All my life, my father trained me to be a killer, an assassin like him. And then moments after I killed him, you two showed up looking for someone with my exact skills. Just felt like it was meant to be," Mercury explained as Emerald look at him incredulously.

"That's it?"

"Hey, what's your problem?"

"I mean, there has to be something you want from this, right?"

"Salem's promised us everything. We win this thing for her, we'll be top dogs in her new world. What more do you want?"

"I just..." Emerald sigh then said. "Cinder was the only family I ever had. She cared about me, taught me things... But without her here, I don't know if what we're doing--"

"Wake up, already..." Mercury said as Emerald look at him in shock. "Cinder doesn't care about you! She doesn't care about either of us!"

"You don't know what you're talking about!" Emerald said rather protectively as the laughter enjoyed the show the two were doing.

"You're in denial. And if you're gonna start having a crisis of identity or some crap... keep me out of it."

Emerald angrily jumps forward at this and starts to attack Mercury with punches and kicks, but he dodges them and catches her wrist.

"I'm sorry you didn't have a mommy that loved you, but I had a father who hated me!" Mercury said in anger as he shoves Emerald back a bit. She takes a defensive stance as he slowly approaches her. "He never went easy on me! Every day of training was a beating. And when I unlocked my Semblance, he stole it with his!"

Mercury then throws a punch and a kick at Emerald, who dodges them, while he quotes his father's words, ""This is a crutch!" "This makes you weak!" He told me I could have it back when I was strong. So I got strong, but I never got it back! I've had to work harder than anyone to get where I am. You may not like it here without Cinder, but I think I'm right where I'm supposed to be!"

Suddenly, the two hear a certain laughter. Tyrian steps out of the shadows with his new metallic scorpion tail.

"Oh yes, the world is mean, and I'm a big, bad man now just like the others," Tyrian mockingly said as he laughs at the two.

Mercury growls as he angrily walk over to Tyrian and said, "How long have you been standing there?!"

"All you ever learned was pain and violence, and now you're too afraid to leave it. Such a tragedy," Tyrian said.

"You don't know me!" Mercury shouted in anger as he tries to kick at Tyrian, but he dodges and kicks Mercury back. Tyrian holds him down to the ground by keeping his tail at a short distance away from Mercury's face.

"Hey!" Emerald called out to them.

"Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh. I want to tell you both a little secret. Your question is all wrong," Tyrian said as he laughs.

"What?"

""What do you want from this?" Children, please, if you're not loving what you're doing, then you're in the wrong field."

"So, what? Are you saying we should just leave?" Emerald questioned as Tyrian gasps.

"Oh no, no, no, no," Tyrian denied as he chuckles. "You can't do that!"

"Then what did you come here for?" Mercury questioned.

"To say farewell. There's been a change in plans. Her Grace must act swiftly if we are to prevail. If General Ironwood comes to his senses and calls upon aid from Vacuo,allmay be lost for us! And so the good doctor and I are being sent to Atlas... to prepare."

"Prepare for what?" Emerald asked.

"Tyrian!" Arthur's voice is then heard as he is shown at the end of the hallway leading into the room. "It's time."

Tyrian steps off of Mercury, who gets back up on his feet, and said, "Do what makes you happy children... please? I'm begging you..."

Tyrian then holds his new tail out threateningly with an evil smile, with purple liquid venom dripping from the stinger's tip. Tyrian walks away towards Watts letting out a little chuckle. Emerald and Mercury watch him leave with disgusted looks while the room became silent.

Back in Argus, Team JNPR and Saphron are walking down a sidewalk at night with Bacchus in the air looking.

"Oscar!" Jaune called out.

"Oscar!" Nora called out as well.

"This city's enormous, he could've gone anywhere," Ren said.

"This is all my fault... I overreacted," Jaune said with guilt as Pyrrha comforts him.

"We always make mistakes," Pyrrha said.

"I still don't really understand what happened. Was it about the mission?" Saphron questioned.

"It's... kind of hard to talk about," Nora said as she look at the Bat Pokémon for any sign, yet got no response.

"I know, I know, "top secret". Did he... do something wrong?" Saphron asked.

"No... he didn't. We just got some new information and... it's going to be a lot harder than we thought," Jaune could only say as he felt very lost.

"I mean, if it was easy, then it wouldn't be important. Right?" Saphron said.

"I think we're all just a bit unsure of what to do next," Ren said.

"You could... stay in Mistral, get your licenses at Haven, and come back to Argus. There's a lot of good you can do here. I know your mission is important, but it's not like you're the only ones who can do it. It's not the only mission that needs doing," Saphron suggested.

"It's... not that simple," Jaune said as Saphron lingers a bit behind while Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren and Nora walk forward, before turning around to look back at her.

"Well, uh... I should go pick up Adrian from daycare. I'll let Terra know what's happened, and we'll meet you later. Good luck," Saphron said as Team JNPR watch her leave before looking down sadly.

"Hey, there's a cafe over there. Why don't we get something to warm up?" Nora suggested as Bacchus then land on her right shoulder.

"I'm okay. You three go on ahead," Jaune said as the rest of his team watch him walk away with sad looks on their faces. Jaune takes a seat on a nearby bench.

"You don't want anything?" Nora asked as she and Ren then exchange a brief glance.

"We'll be right back," Ren said.

Ren and Nora walk away, leaving Jaune alone as Pyrrha sits beside her leader to comfort him which made Jaune slightly better. Jaune keeps his head down while the wind blows, and a dried maple leaf flies in in front of Jaune. He notices this and follows the maple leaf as it flies in the wind, while Pyrrha follows him in worry. Jaune follows the leaf into a nearby park. Suddenly, Jaune and Pyrrha stops in his tracks and notices something.

A statue of a young man in armor as he look in the distance in confidence while holding a spear in his right hand. Jaune and Pyrrha slowly approaches the statue as they look up to the confident face of the statue. The two then kneels down and notices a plaque a symbol similar to Pyrrha's and words inscribed on it written:

In Honor of Achilles Nikos, Great Defender of Argus who fought alongside the founders of the city.

Jaune look at Pyrrha as she said, "He was my great grand uncle, he died during the war when he fought along with my great grandmother, Atalanta and the rest of the founders, till he got shot by an arrow that left him vulnerable and exposed. He died very young but he inspired the people of Argus to fight back and have this very city to be built."

Jaune could look at the statue in awe and envy as he felt weak and lost. The two then heard a surprise gasp as the two look behind them to see a young woman behind them.

She has the same hair and eyes as Pyrrha but she looked more older than her, and wore winter clothing and glasses. She is also holding a bouquet of red flowers.

"Mom," Pyrrha said as the woman began to tear up.

"Pyrrha!" The woman then ran to Pyrrha and embraced her.

Pyrrha also return the hug while Jaune look at them with a kind smile.

The woman then let go of Pyrrha and said with a smile, "Your finally back."

Pyrrha smiled and said, "Miss you too mom."

Pyrrha's mother then look at Jaune and said, "So who's this young man?"

"His name is Jaune, the leader of our team and my partner," Pyrrha explained.

"Is that so," The woman then walk over to Jaune as she look at him analytically. "May I ask a question?"

"Welll..." Jaune look at Pyrrha then to her mother. "Fire away."

"Are you two together?" Pyrrha's mother asked as the two teenagers blushed madly.

"Mom!" Pyrrha cried out in embarrassment.

"Well..." Jaune then put his arm around Pyrrha's waist, which made her more embarrassed, and said, "We are."

The woman looked overjoyed as she embraced the two and said, "I'm so proud of you two! When is the wedding?!"

Jaune suddenly choke on his spit as he beat his chest to clear it out while Pyrrha's face now look more like a tomato.

"That's to early for that!" Pyrrha yelled while her mother laughs as she slowly calms down to look at her daughter's face.

"You have grown so much after you left, I almost got a heart attack when I heard that you fought that woman from your school," She said as Pyrrha laugh nervously.

"It was a hectic day," Pyrrha said as her mother smiles and hugged her again.

"I'm just happy that you are alright," She said as Pyrrha smiles.

"Me too," Pyrrha said as her mother then look at Jaune.

"Take good care of her," She whispered to him as he could only nod.

Pyrrha's mother then ended the hug as she left the bouquet under the statue and left the couple.

"Jaune? Pyrrha?"

Jaune and Pyrrha then sees Ren and Nora looking for him while holding hot drinks in their hands. The two notice Jaune and Pyrrha in the park and walk over to him.

"Jaune, why did you walk away like that, with Pyrrha even," Nora said as every member of Team JNPR stood by the statue of Pyrrha's great grand uncle.

"I'm sorry. I've been a terrible leader, and a terrible friend, and I--"

"Jaune, this has to stop," Ren cuts the blonde off from his barrage of apologies.

"We... heard what you said to Cinder, at Haven. You're not being fair to yourself. We love you, all of us do. We are teammates, family," Nora said.

"We don't want to lose you," Ren said.

"Because we are together no matter what," Pyrrha said.

Jaune ponders his friends words before looking back up to Achilles' statue.

"You're right... I know that I shouldn't worry, it wouldn't help me, not anymore. I guess its time that we should finally try and move forward," Jaune said.

"That's the spirit," Nora said as she pat him on the back.

"I agree," Ren said.

"Then let's do it... together," Pyrrha said as the whole team look at the statue with a new sense of purpose while Nora hand Jaune his drink.

"We should check back in at the house. Come on," Ren said as the four of them then walk away. Jaune look back for a moment and he could've swore that the statue winks at him but shook it off and Team JNPR walk away.

In Saphron and Terra's house, Ruby is looking down with a look of disapproval on her face. She lets out a disappointed sigh.

"I've never seen him this bad," Yang said.

Ruby, along with the rest of Team RWBY, the three Trainers, U. Pichu, the Alolan Vulpix, and Maria, find Qrow passed out on some stairs leading up to a house.

"Come on, let's get him up," Ruby said as the two sisters grab their uncle's arms and sit him up. Qrow groans and rubs his eyes.

"Why am I on the stairs?" Qrow asked.

"Probably because no one's home, Uncle Qrow. We've been out looking for Oscar," Ruby said.

"Oscar?" Qrow said in confusion.

The group hears footsteps. They turn to see Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren, Nora, as well as Saphron and Terra, who is holding Adrian in her arm, walking towards them. The two mothers look at Qrow.

"I'm sure this looks great to the neighbors," Terra said sarcastically as Saphron lightly elbows her wife while Jaune and his teammates walk up to the group.

"No luck?" Ren asked.

"No, you?" Blake asked.

"Don't worry, we aren't going to Atlas without him," Jaune said as Ruby look at him in confusion.

"We?" Ruby asked as Team JNPR shares a smile.

"Sorry we won't be staying," Jaune said to his sister as Saphron just smirks.

"No you're not," Saphron said.

"How about we get out of the cold?" Terra suggested.

The door to the house is heard opening. Everyone gasps in shock as a familiar voice is heard.

"Oh, I was wondering when you'd get back."

There standing on the doorway is Oscar wearing a new set of clothes.

He wears an olive coat with shoulder pads and a belt both of dark red. Underneath, he wears a white collared shirt and bandages wrapped around the neck. His gloves are a slightly open U-shape with black X-pattern wrist straps. He also wears black trousers and red boots colored orange at the toe.

"Oscar!!" Everyone shouted in relief while Nora screamed in joy as Oscar initially has a confused look on his face, and then one of comical terror as the eight students, the three Trainers and U. Pichu all leap forward and tackle hug him. Now inside the house, Ruby helps Oscar up with U. Pichu getting on his shoulder as everyone shares a laugh.

"You had us worried sick!" Weiss scolded him.

"Are you okay?" Ruby asked in worry.

"What are you wearing?" Nora asked with a grin as Oscar smiles and rubs the back of his head.

"Uh..." He was cut off when the rest of the group entered the house.

"Is something cooking?" Terra asked as she smelled something good.

"Oh, uh, yeah. I thought you guys would appreciate a hot meal after... spending all day looking for me, apparently," Oscar said.

"It's my fault we were all out there in the first place. Oscar, I am so sorry for earlier. I was way, way out of line, and what I said--"

"No, it's okay," Oscar cuts Jaune from his track and said. "These past few days, I've been scared of the same things you were. I don't know how much longer I'm going to be... me. But I did some thinking, and I do know that I want to do everything I can to help with whatever time I have left."

Jaune smiled and said, "Good. This team isn't the same without you, Oscar."

Everyone shares a smile. Suddenly, a smoke alarm goes off as Oscar gasps.

"The casserole!" Oscar yelled in horror.

Saphron giggled and said, "We're on it, chef."

Saphron and Terra then step into the kitchen to take care of Oscar's cooking.

"Uh, combat gear looks good," Ruby commented as she and Oscar share a smile which caused U. Pichu to hide a teasing smile behind his paw. Then, the group notice Qrow walking up the stairs.

"Where are you going now?" Ruby asked sternly.

"I don't want to get in the way of your celebration," Qrow said.

"You've been gone all day! Just sit with us," Ruby said in anger as Qrow sighs.

"Look, Ruby, I'm glad you kids worked out, uh, whatever all that was. But the fact is, we're not a single step closer to Atlas."

"Actually, I think I have an idea. But... it's sort of a "no-going-back" kind of idea," Jaune said to them.

"Well, let's hear it," Ruby said.

"With Cordo on watch, only Atlas airships have the clearance to leave for Solitas. So... we... steal an Atlas airship," Jaune said as nervously shrug at the last statement which shocks everyone while Adrian giggles in Maria's arms.

"Okay, I did crazy things in my life but I know that's just insane," Mel said as he blinks.

"You said it," Randy said.

"That's not just breaking the law. That's... that's definitely worse," Weiss said.

"How would we even get onto the airfield?" Yang asked.

"Last I heard that Argus is being watched by them top to bottom," Nomad said.

"That part I haven't quite figured out yet. But I--"

"Okay, stop," Qrow cut Jaune off. "Just... stop! Look, if this thing goes south, it's not something we can just fight our way out of. This is the Atlas Military we're talking about."

The drunkard then sighs and said, "For your sake, just drop this."

Everyone looks down with discouraged looks on their faces. Ruby and the three Yrainers notices this as Ruby turns back to Qrow with a determined look on her face.

"I want to hear him out."

"Ruby..."

"I want to hear him out!" Ruby cuts her uncle off with more force from her tone. "I know you're trying to protect us, that you're afraid we can't do it, but right now, I don't really care what you think!"

Qrow gains a shocked expression upon hearing this while the three Trainers look at Ruby with smiles on their faces.

"Just because you don't have an idea, doesn't mean we're out of options! Oz hasn't been here to tell us what to do, but we still managed to get this far anyway. We've been in bad situations before, and we don't need an adult to come save us or tell us what to do. We just did it our way! And I say we do it our way," Ruby said as the others smiled. "And if you think you can keep up with us "kids"... we'd be happy to have you."

Qrow could only look down sadly while Maria laughs.

"Looks like you didn't give her enough credit either," Maria said.

"She isn't a little girl anymore Qrow, she is a Huntress," Nomad added as Qrow doesn't say anything, he looks back to Ruby while she looks back at him determined.

And that is it for this chapter.

Hoo boy, you have no idea just how happy I am as I get closer to finish this Volume.

I would also have an idea when I reach the current finished Volume for Team VRMN as I want to give the four of them some more action time.

I also have future RWBY Crossover stories planned as I thought that what I'm doing is the best I got.

And another thing, I began reading stories were the cast from BNHA watch movies from Marvels, and I can't help but be disappointed by the watchers.

I always see that being a hero isn't just fun and games but something far worst. But when I read those stories, I could see that BNHA is even worst!

I only just watch the series few times, yet I began to think that something is wrong with the mentality of the characters.

Being a hero isn't a job that you can join in and get money, but a hard duty that a hero needed to burdened by them.

The more I see the reactions, the more I see how bad those characters are, I even began to hate some of the heroes and students while I began to pity the villains more.

And when I finished the Civil War part, I WAS LIVID! Follow the law all you want, but don't expect an apology when some of the heroes aren't competent enough to get their in time, and actually lost.

I didn't even imagine that my hate for Monoma would go even higher. I seriously despise his cocky *ss more than ever when he insulted the only exception of my hate, Izuku, and just spat he's a villain. A VILLAIN! I HOPE THAT IDIOT WOULD ENTER THE MCU AND PERMANENTLY GET DUSTED AWAY BY THANOS!

I seriously just don't have anymore sympathy for that guy after that part! I would even pit my OCs at him and hope that he would get some permanent damage!

*Sigh* I just hope that Izuku would get his hope back if the story continues. Nobody messes with everyone's cinnamon roll.
