Chapter:52 Engaging in New Territory
A strong wind blows snow across the cloudy sky while four Mantas fly together.
"All right, gather 'round. Our mission today is to secure the launch site for the Amity Communications Tower," Said the voice of the leader of the Ace-Ops.
Sometime prior to flying in the Mantas, the leader of the Ace-Ops stands in front of the central table in James Ironwood's office, looking at a hologram screen that displays mission details.
"The designated area is an abandoned Dust mine. Since its closure, the Grimm have moved in."
The screen displays a mission overview, a photograph of Huntsmen battling a Geist, a menu, a map of an area in theKingdom of Atlas, a list of Active Huntsmen and a list of Ace Operatives. The mission overview says:
"Reported Petra Gigas near Huntsman Post North. Huntsmen secured area but were unable to eliminate Petra Gigas. The Grimm was seen retreating to abandoned SDC Mines No. 2 located in Zone 3. No casualties were reported, three Huntsmen suffered minor injuries.
Recommended Course of Action: Send in ACE Operatives to clear SDC mine No. 2."
The menu options are "Open Case Reports", "Mission Board", "Personnel Files", "Zoning Details", "Ace Operatives" and "Atlas Huntsmen".
The map displays that "Zone 1", in the very south of the map, is cleared. "Zone 2" is in the southwestern portion of the map, with "Huntsman Post West" located in its northeastern area. "Zone 3" is the northern section of the map. "Huntsman Post North" is located slightly southeast from "SDC Mines 2", and to the northeast of the mines is "Aurora Pass".
The Active Huntsmen listed are the members of Team RWBY, Team JNPR, and Vic's newly formed team of Team VRMN (Vermillion)
Two more copies of this screen are hovering above the table, being viewed by Qrow, Ruby, Jaune, and Vic.
"The good news is all that untouched Dust is still down there, too. Science team says they'll need it for the first phase of their launch."
"Apologies for the mess and for holding onto your weapons for so long," Pietro said as he enters a laboratory, followed by Teams RWBY, JNPR, and the three members of VRMN.
"The upgrades you requested were, uh… well, they were more than I anticipated," He said as he laughs.
"Atlas military Huntsmen are already hard at work clearing out the surrounding tundra. But recon has identified a powerful Geist that's managed to evade destruction and take several lives."
Uniformed Huntsmen are seen gunning down Grimm while the three Mantas fly past overhead.
"After we increased our numbers, the Geist was smart enough to retreat into the mine itself, meaning it's old and extremely dangerous."
The man withdraws a compactScrolland presses a button, causing the photograph of Huntsmen battling the Petra Gigas to take up the entirety of each screen.
"This is our target."
"Your new weapons and armor should be as requested, but I also took the liberty of reviewing your combat footage from theVytal Festival Tournament, and suggestions from your three new friends."
Teams RWBY, JNPR, and the three Trainers stand in front of a series of narrow shelves, each of which have cases on them. Nora shifts eagerly on her feet, letting out an excited giggle as she snatches up her case. Everyone else calmly picks up their cases.
"There's some additional enhancements I'd like to suggest. Oh, but for now, these should serve you well enough."
Ruby opens her case and smiles. Nora opens her case and looks amazed, pupils dilating and eyes shimmering from her excitement. Jaune opens his case, and his eyes widen. Randy opens his, and whistles to his new get up.
The hologram screens above Ironwood's table have been replaced with a 3D hologram map displaying the SDC mine.
"The mine was a labyrinth back in the day. There's all sorts of tunnels and chambers the Geist can move between, so if we're gonna kill this thing, we'll have to split up and corner it."
Jaune sits on a bed, looking at his open case before letting out an anxious breath till Pyrrha sits besides him and grabbed his hand. The two look at each other's eyes as the two of them shared assuring smiles.
"General Ironwood says you've seen your fair share of combat."
Yang puts on her upgraded and repaired prosthetic arm and makes a fist, grinning confidently.
Blake runs her hand through her hair.
"I trust that man with my life, so tomorrow, I'll be trusting you all, too."
Inside Ruby's case is a neatly folded outfit. She happily pulls out the new cloak that rests on top of the stack. As she does so, Oscar enters the dorm room.
"Hey… Ruby?"
Team RWBY's Manta soars through a cloud and opens its side door, with Team RWBY and the Alolan Vulpix standing in the doorway with the girls wearing their new outfits and having new looks.
Ruby's hair becomes spikier and choppier. She has a new outfit, comprised of a black red lined lace-up corset with four buckles hanging loose over a mesh sleeveless top over a white low cut long-sleeved blouse, as well as a black choker around her neck with rows of blue Xs around it. She wears a red pleated skirt that is split at the side with a small brown belted strap across the gap with a hint of blue, and bright red shorts under it. On her arms, she wears black bracers with large brown buckled straps around the wrist as well as black fingerless gloves. Around her waist, she now has a brown belt with several bullets with a buckle of her emblem on it alongside a pouch on the right side with a Zwei based emblem and she wears black, thigh-high steel-toe boots with red soles and heels, a single buckled strap, rear seam and a large brown buckled strap with attached pouches near the top, over a pair of brown mesh tights.
Weiss' hair is now braided, and she has grown out her bangs and styled them to frame her face more closely. She wears a pale blue sleeveless dress with deep red lining, bow detail fixture, and two diamond-shaped pieces hanging from the corners of the hem, over a white diagonal hemmed strapless dress. Above which she wears a vivid blue shrug with a raised collar, puffy sleeves and the Schnee emblem on the left sleeve, fastened by a blue, silver outlined strap. On her arms are a pair of long navy blue gloves with silver top trim surrounding a red gem at the top. Over her dress, she wears a light blue, corset styled belt. Around her waist are three white belts with a medium-sized pouch attached to the lowest belt, another pouch attached to the middle belt, and a Pokéball clipped on it. The lowest belt crosses over the middle belt. She wears long, pale blue wedge-heel boots with white frill detailing at the top at the front, alongside grayish blue coloring on the toes and navy blue wedged heels.
In addition, she wears a pair of ruby earrings that match her icicle-shaped tiara with a diamond-shaped ruby in the center.
Blake now has shoulder-length bobbed hair. She changes her attire to a purple sleeveless catsuit with attached boots that has light purple soles and trim. The catsuit has a high neck with a single short silver zipper alongside matching zippers that run from her thighs to her ankles on the front of the legs. A pair of kneepads, matching color to the catsuit with silver studs on them are attached to the knees of the catsuit.
Her long, white tailcoat has desaturated purple detailing on the chest, sleeves, sides and collar alongside a dark purple detailing on the back. It has a narrow belt around the collar and a wide white belt loosely secured around her waist through the coat's belt loops. The belt has two pouches attached to the back. The coattails end in a point and the inside lining is vivid purple. The front zipper of the coat is upside down and extends to the very bottom of the coat, and there are additional zippers along the lower half of the sleeves with a single purple line running between the zipper and her shoulders. Around each wrist is a dark purple belted wristband and has a desaturated purple magnetic backpack on her back.
Yang obtains an entirely new outfit primarily consisting of khaki overalls, the gold zipper of which is unzipped just below the breast to reveal a white low-cut cropped tube top. Around the thighs of the overalls is a gold zipper and buckled strap that allows for the pants leg to be detached. The right leg is unzipped but still strapped to the overalls but the lower part is partially folded over. Over top of the coveralls, she wears a baggy, dark brown crop aviator styled jacket with fur trim around the neck and black-and-orange straps along the sleeves. Around her waist is a black-and-orange belt with black-and-yellow folded fabric on the sides, which runs behind her with a pouch attached to it and a golden buckle of her emblem. She wears dark brown knee-high boots with black laces and top trim. For accessories, she has resumed wearing her orange scarf around her neck and her purple scarf around her right leg, like she did with her original battle outfit. She also has a black/brown strap with golden trim and a pouch wrapped around her left thigh. She also wear a pair of orange glasses.
"Let's make it happen, people."
Team RWBY look at each other, smiling. Yang chuckles, and Ruby nods. The four leap from the Manta, with Ruby immediately using her Semblance, laughing as she falls. She draws Crescent Rose, changes it to scythe form, stands on it and begins firing it, using the recoil to slow her fall. Weiss makes her way downward with the Vulpix while leaping back and forth between glyphs, before launching herself toward the mine and summoning her Arma Gigas'arm and sword. She then uses a glyph to send herself onto the sword and slides down the blade.
Blake draws her newly-repaired katana, shifts it into sickle form and throws it, hooking it onto one of the metal structures outside the mine entrance. She then uses it to swing from building to building. Yang freefalls, laughing as she does so, before firing at the ground and flipping to land on her feet. She slides across the snow between two minecart tracks and is joined by Ruby, Weiss and Blake when she comes to a young woman from the Ace-Ops lands nearby with a slight bounce, tucking and rolling. The male Faunus of the group lands on his boomerang, rides it across the snow and leaps off of it, causing it to fly through the air and then return to him. The boomerang shifts into rifle mode when he catches it.
Team JNPR's Manta soars overhead toward the mountain. Inside the ship, Elm and the pale man look at JNPR, wearing their new outfit and prepared to jump.
Jaune cuts his hair short and styles it to be upswept and somewhat spiky. He wears a high collar black shirt under a re-modified pure white chest plate that covers a bit more of his upper abdomen and similarly-colored bracers. Both the chest plate and the bracers are trimmed with gold, and he once again wears two shoulder pads. He retains his gloves and sash except he now wears dark navy jeans and dark brown boots.
Nora cuts her hair to its original length during Beacon. She wears a long, pink and white sleeveless coat with light blue lapels and white-collar belted closed by a black belt with a pouch on the left side, over a black short dress. The front of the coat has two heart shape cutouts near to the bottom. On the upper back of her coat is a small pair of decorative metal wings with a magnet in the middle that she can attach Magnhild to. She also has long detached white sleeves with black fingerless gloves, white stockings light blue socks and black boots with silver heels, sole and toe plates. In addition, she wears matching metal bands on her upper arms with her emblem on them alongside silver metal bands around her thighs.
Pyrrha's ponytail is now slightly longer along with some of her bangs. She wears a brown overbust corset with a vertical strip of black in the center along with red cloth around her waist except the front, she kept the large bronze gorget around her neck, she wears an open black jacket that reached just below her bust along with bronze pauldrons, black gloves under a fingerless bronze gauntlet, a brown skirt over black tights, elaborate bronze greaves that started below her mid-thigh before continuing downwards into her boots as well as a pair of cuisses that began mid-thigh and ended slightly above her knees. In addition, she wears a brown belt with pouches along with bronze with a black center and a red symbol of her emblem on it, and lastly is a bronze laurel on her head.
Ren now braids his hair and now wears a sleeveless turtleneck dark green top, white long sleeves underneath, black half of a jacket/arm guard combination on his right arm with his father's dagger attached it, a single detached long black finglerless glove on his left arm, and black leather boots.
"This is my favorite part!" Elm said as the pale man steps out of the ship, while Elm leaps backwards. Ren hops out, followed by a laughing Nora and calm Pyrrha. Jaune takes a deep breath, gets a small running start and leaps out. He dives for a moment, then deploys his shield while transforming his shield to its Alpha form and activated a barrier. The shield begins acting as a hang glider, with the sudden slow in momentum causing Jaune to yelp. He then drifts over to the cliff, before turning his shield downward and used the barrier in a certain way to create an outward burst that cushions his landing. Standing alongside Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren, Jaune draws his sword.
"Ha ha! Perhaps you kids won't get yourselves killed after all!" Elm said as she enters a tunnel, while Jaune looks disappointed as Pyrrha tried to comfort him while Nora pouts.
"She meant that as a compliment," The pale man said.
"Woo-hoo!" Up in the air Mel, with his new outfit, is free falling as he used his Semblance to slow his descent. Vic, Randy, and Nomad are just above him with the latter two wearing new clothes as well.
The green haired teen has his hair more sleeker. He wears a large, closed, black coat with three horizontal green stripes around his waists, under it is a wool shirt with orange horizontal stripes. Black pants with white vertical lines, white winter boots, and his headset is upgraded with better ear muffs.
Randy has cut the side of his spiky black hair from left to right. He wears a green, white strip, hooded jacket and a black shirt with green circle strip from above to bottom with a v neck, blue jeans, white boots with green-black strip. Additionally, he still kept his neon green mask.
Nomad still looked the same but he wears a brown leather jacket with a black and white checkered pattern on the back, a black vest with grey inner lining, a pair of long black trousers with two extra pockets, and grey boots with blue soles, black gloves, and kept his hat. For accessories, he wears a blue bandana wrapped around his neck, he also has a cross necklace around his neck hidden under his jacket.
Qrow and Clover slide down a sheer icy incline, landing on a cliff just outside of a tunnel opening. Clover activates a communication device in his ear while Qrow brushes off his new outfit.
Qrow retains his torn cape and black wristband, except he loses his necklace and old rings and now wears a new outfit. He wears a dark gray collar shirt with a black vest that has cross-shaped buttons, and a white v-neck shirt underneath, dark gray dress pants and black dress shoes. His old rings are replaced with black ones worn in the same place as his previous rings were.
The floral pattern on his sleeves resemble his emblem.
"This is Alpha squad. LZ's clear. Proceeding on foot."
At the bottom of the mountain, Team RWBY rest their fingers against their own communicators, listening to Ace-Ops leader.
"You've all got fancy new Scrolls, so don't forget to use 'em. Keep your eyes and ears open. I want an update if you encounter the target. Alpha out."
While the man speaks, Blake brings out her new Scroll, deploying the hologram screen from the small device. She taps on an icon with a mugshot of Yang, which brings up a screen showing her teammates' Aura levels. Weiss has 96% Aura, Yang has 97% and Ruby has 98%. She taps the hologram again, making it recede into the device, which she turns horizontally in her hand. The built-in screen displays four small meters - one on top and three on bottom. The top meter is labeled B, while the other three are labeled R, W and Y. The B meter is completely full. Once Clover finishes speaking, Blake's left cat ear twitches, and she looks ahead of her.
"Huh?"
Yang, who was staring at Blake, looks side to side. Realizing that she is the one Blake is looking at, Yang poses awkwardly and waves.
"Uh, sorry, just not used to the new hair yet," Yang said as Blake blushes and self-consciously brushes her hair back.
"Is it… bad?" She asked.
"No! No. It's good. Great, even!" Yang assured.
The two other members of the Ace-Ops watch the awkwardness from nearby.
"Man, I did not sign up to be a babysitter," The Faunus said.
"Yeah, well, the rest of us babysit you all the time," The woman said as she walks away, and the Faunus crosses his arms and pouts, following her.
Weiss wipes snow off of a piece of metal, revealing the Schnee Dust Company logo. She looks down at it with a frown and lets out a small, sad groan. The two Ace-Ops members lead into the mine entrance, with Team RWBY following at a distance. Ruby comes to a stop, shivering with her arms crossed across her chest.
"Oh, it's freezing out here!" Ruby said.
Weiss stops, and Blake and Yang soon stop, as well.
"Without heating or projected Aura, the cold of Solitas can kill you in a matter of hours," Weiss said.
"I suddenly don't feel as bad about leaving Oscar behind," Blake said without any second thought.
Yang sighed because of this and said, "Can we talk about that again?"
Ruby glances over at the two Ace-Ops members, who have gone ahead to the opening of the mine, and said, "What about it?"
Yang frowns and said, "We're really not gonna tell Ironwood about what happened to Oz? What we learned about Jinn? About Salem?"
"We are," Ruby said as she let out a small sigh. "We will. But you saw how things looked when we flew into Atlas."
"The General's heart seems to be in the right place, but that doesn't mean we should trust him yet," Blake said warily.
"We need to play along for a while before we make any major decisions," Weiss said.
"Okay. How did Oscar feel about that?" Yang asked as she looks over at Ruby, raising an eyebrow. Ruby lowers her eyes a little, thinking back to her conversation with Oscar.
"Er, probably shouldn't keep running around with an ancient Relic on a keychain… you know?" Ruby said as she hands the Relic of Knowledge to Oscar, who looks at it and then at Ruby.
"But-"
"I know you'll keep it safe in Atlas," Ruby assured with a smile.
"Ruby, hiding things from Ironwood, doesn't that feel like what Ozpin did to us?"
While Oscar speaks, Ruby's smile turns into a frown. She turns her eyes away from him in silence.
Qrow and the leader of the Ace-Ops walk through a long tunnel with different colors of Dust veins in the walls.
"Gotta say, I'm still not really used to working with other Huntsmen in the field," Qrow said.
"But you were on a team before, weren't you?" He said as the drunkard let out a sigh.
"Long time ago. I just found working alone tends to be for the best."
"Well, I think that's a shame."
Qrow slips and falls forward, but the man catches his arm and pulls him back up. Qrow frowns, while the man walks away, using his communicator.
"Alpha here. Give me an update."
"The connecting ice tunnels seem clear. We should be approaching the actual mine any minute now," Said the pale man through the communicator.
The pale man, Elm, Jaune, Pyrrha, Nora and Ren walk through an ice tunnel, which has metal arches supporting it. While Nora, Jaune and Pyrrha are smiling, Ren is frowning.
"This is so exciting! It feels like we're an actual Huntsman team!" Nora said as she fidgets with her hands a little, then looks at Ren with her hands clasped beside her face. "I, um… like what you did with your outfit, Ren."
"We should probably stay focused on the mission," Ren said with a frown as Nora stops, her smile fading, while Ren continues walking forward.
"Oh. Okay," She said with a sad tone.
Jaune was about to compliment her till Pyrrha grabbed his arm to not make matters worse. Nora then continued to follow them but was worried for Ren.
"Bravo checking in. Hit a bit of a snag," Said the young female member of the Ace-Ops through the communicator.
The young woman, the male Faunus, and Team RWBY arrive at a wall of boulders in the main mine tunnel.
"There's been a cave-in in the main entrance. Not sure if it's recent or was caused by the original accident," She said while Blake suddenly pauses, her ears perking up and eyes widening. She looks all around her. "Either way, we'll have to do a little problem solving."
"Understood. Let us know if you need anything."
Yang looks at Blake as she uncrosses her arms and said, "You okay?"
Blake looks away and said, "I just realized where we are. This mine was closed after an explosion."
"I remember this disaster. Or rather, I remember how furious it made my father," Weiss said as Blake and Yang look at her as she grips her wrist while looking away. She then approaches Blake. "I wish I could take back the years of pain my family has caused the Faunus and all of my complacency in it."
She crosses her arms, and Blake rests her hands on Weiss' shoulder, giving a small smile.
Away from the others, Team VRMN walks in another part of the mines as the three other members began to talk with him.
"So how are you and Mel know each other?" Nomad asked.
"Yeah, he didn't really explain before," Randy said.
"Well me and Mel lived in the same orphanage together, you could say that he's my brother in all but blood," Vic explained as he and Mel bump each other's fists. "We were pretty much inseparable together, always cause so many mishaps in Rustboro City till Mel got adopted and went to Unova."
"Yeah, we even exchange letters together to see how is the other doing, but we rarely do it," Mel said.
"So how did you two arrive in Remnant? I was sent to Mistral five years ago and I met Qrow there," Nomad said as the three of them look at Randy.
"Menagerie five years ago, I was in the forests with my whole team turned to Faunus, I had to hide in Kuo Kuana or I would be found by the residents," The masked teen said as Vic is then the victim of the stares.
"It was four years ago in Beacon, right at the floor of Ozpin's office, had to live there for a year till I can join the new batch of students next year," Vic said as the focus was then on Mel as the green haired teen looked nervous.
"I was sent to Vacuo and we'll..." Mel trailed off as the rest of the team look at him intently.
"Go on," Nomad said as the he, Randy, and Vic were curious.
Mel blushed and said, "I... I crashed down on a roof and... landed on a girl's room."

...
"Pfft!"
"Hahahaha!" The three laugh as Mel's Blush worsens.
"Hey! I didn't even have time to correct myself, or I could've not landed there at all!" Mel said but the three members of VRMN continued laughing.
"It's just. Of all things, you crashed into a house and to a girl's room. Hahaha!" Nomad laughed.
Vic then wipe the tear of his eye and said, "Did you at least apologized?"
"I was but..." Mel trailed off again which made everyone hold their breathe.
"The girl slapped you didn't she?" Randy guessed which caused Mel to look away and the others trying to hold their laughter. "Well that explains it."
"Can we move on please?" Mel pleaded as everyone decided to stop teasing him.
"So what do you guys want to know?" Vic asked.
"Well we know that all of us are Champions, except for Nomad," Randy said as the two best friends looked at the tallest member of the group.
"I was exploring in the Crown Tundra to train my team for the tournament, I was just minding my own business till I got sucked by a portal and got to Remnant," He said.
"So how was your time here in Atlas?" Mel asked as Vic shrugs.
"Well I protect Mantle from time to time, but I was always spend my free time with Penny."
"Right, you're girlfriend," Nomad said as he then got a question. "How about the Ace-Ops? We don't really know all about them after the passing days."
"Well you could say that they are somewhat of a strange bunch. Clover is known to be very optimistic, his own Semblance always save him from time to time, but is very aware of the situation."
"So that's the leader, how about the others?" Mel asked.
"Well Marrow is the newbie on the team, so he lacks the experience with the rest. Vine is the voice of reason of the group, he would ask first then thinks of the situation before taking action. Elm is the most blunt of the group but is more friendly than the rests. Lastly Harriet is the most competitive out of all of them, she always the first to rush in and fight," Vic explained.
"So what's your first take after meeting with them?" Nomad asked.
"Well..."
"This is Bravo! We found the target, but it fled deeper into the mine. Engaging Centinels!" They heard the voice of the young female of the Ace-Ops.
"Well you heard Harriet, let's go," Vic said as they quickly went deeper.
In another ice tunnels, Elm, the pale man and Team JNPR listen to Harriet's report.
"Let's pick up the pace!" Elm said
The group runs over to a decline in the tunnel, and the Ace-Ops members, Jaune and Pyrrha jump, sliding along the ice. Nora smacks Ren, sending him down the decline with a small shout, and then follows, laughing. Below, the ice tunnel gives way to the Dust mine, and three Centinels begin burrowing out of the rock.
"Contact!"
The pale man deploys his Semblance to grab onto the walls of the ice tunnel, stopping himself. Elm stomps on the ice, deploying her own Semblance to root herself to the spot. Jaune, Pyrrha, Nora and Ren continue sliding past the two, Nora laughing with her hands in the air.
As they approach the bottom, both Jaune and Pyrrha deploy their shield's Hard-Light barrier and stabs the ice with their blades to slow themselves. He then slams his shield down, using Dust to send out a blast that knocks the Centinels back while Pyrrha went for a shot. Catching up to Jaune and Pyrrha, Ren leaps into the air and activates his weapons' upgrade - his guns fire their blades at one of the Centinels, with wires keeping the blades tethered to the guns. He pulls himself to the Centinel and slams his feet into it to knock it down and fires his guns at it. Another Centinel rises up behind him, only for Nora to slam Magnhild down on its head. The hammer emits a blast, allowing her to swing it backwards onto the remaining Centinel's head. With all three Centinels dead, the pale man and Elm slide down the ice to meet up with Team JNPR.
"A very… head-first approach," The pale man said as he and Elm begin walking past Team JNPR, who try to act confident.
"Yeah, well, that's just kind of our style," Jaune said.
As soon as the two Ace Operatives pass them, JNPR relax their shoulders and sigh with relief.
Team RWBY, and the two Ace-Ops members have whittled down the pack of Centinels to one remaining. Weiss raises Myrtenaster and prepares to charge while her Vulpix used Powder Snow.
"One left!" Weiss called out.
"I got it!" Ruby shouted.
The young woman of the Ace-Ops speeds past both of them and plunges her fist straight through the Centinel, killing it. Ruby rises up from nowhere beside her, eyes filled with amazement.
"Whoa! Your Semblance makes you super fast, just like me!" Ruby said in awe.
"Very cool. Though, based on your reaction time, I'd say I'm a little faster," She said with a wink.
"This is Alpha! We've engaged the target!" Called out by the leader of the Ace-Ops.
Qrow fires repeatedly at the Geist, which swerves and spirals around in the tunnel, avoiding the bullets while Hunch the Absol tried to claw it.
"All squads head toward our position!" The leader ordered as he deploys his fishing rod and sends the hook out at the Geist, just barely missing it. The Geist swoops into a giant chunk of ice with a minecart imbedded in it and rises up, gathering more ice, rocks and metal to form its body. The man runs forward to combat it, while Qrow and Hunch stands back and observes. Qrow notices a chunk of ice pressing against a metal support beam, steadily pushing the beam off of the tunnel wall.
"Wait, stop!" Qrow called out.
The man turns to look at Qrow, then notices the beam, which falls and lands between Clover and the Geist. The impact creates a large cloud of dust, and when the cloud settles, it is revealed that the ground beneath the Geist collapsed. Clover looks down the hole, frowning, while Qrow runs up beside him.
"Darn it," The leader swore as he use his communicator. "Target escaped, last seen headed east."
He then faced Qroe and said, "Thanks for the call-out. That could have been bad."
Qrow sighs and said, "I wouldn't thank me. My Semblance brings misfortune. Sometimes I can't keep it under control."
"That so?"
Qrow looks at the man, who is looking at him with a slight smile. The leader of the Ace-Ops checks his Scroll, then looks up at a bent support beam next to the hole in the ground.
"Well, hey, don't beat yourself up about it," He said as he casts his line to wrap around the beam and jerks it down, and the beam pulls a large amount of rock down with it. He then turns to Qrow with a smile.
"My Semblance is good fortune. Lucky you, huh?" He said with a wink as he then walks on ahead, using his communicator, while Qrow stares at him.
"Charlie, Bravo, you should be able to cut off the target at the heart of the mine. Qrow and I won't be far behind."
Qrow looks away, then hurries after the man.
Team JNPR and the two Ace-Ops members with them exit their tunnel onto a raised walkway in a giant mine chamber filled with Dust veins and huge Dust crystals. Raised minecart rails, walkways and stone arches span across and around the edges of the chamber. As Ren comes to a stop, his foot slides across the ground, and the dust particles he kicks up drift slowly into the air. A bead of sweat drips from Jaune's forehead and evaporates upon hitting the ground. Team RWBY and the two other members of Ace-Ops arrive in the same chamber at the bottom level along with Team VRMN. Ruby looks up toward the two teams.
"Guys!" Ruby called out to them.
"Everyone use caution. This room is highly active with Dust energy. Triggering it could ruin the launch site," The pale man said through the communicators.
"And vaporize us. How is that always second with you?" The male Faunus said to him while Nora looks around.
"I thought the target was supposed to be in here," She said.
A low rumbling noise from above causes everyone to look up. The Petra Gigas Geist is clinging to a chunk of ice on the ceiling. It turns to look down at everyone, showing purple Dust crystals embedded in its body. It jumps down from the ceiling, crashing through a stone arch on its way to the ground in front of Team RWBY.
"It added Dust to its body? How are we supposed to-" The woman with Team RWBY speeds past her with the male Faunus follows suit. Elm jumps down from the cliff and runs toward the Petra Gigas, as well.
"Elm!" The pale man called out as he reaches out with his Semblance, wrapping an Aura arm around one of the Petra Gigas' legs. With his other Aura arm, he reaches behind him, grabs onto a support beam and pulls. Elm runs over to the leg, stomps to root herself in place with her Semblance and grabs onto the leg.
"Vine!" Elm called out to the palr man as the now named Vine lets go, leaps off the cliff and uses his Semblance to swing onto a minecart bridge. He then uses his Semblance to grab onto one of the Petra Gigas' arms and pull.
"Marrow!" Vine called out to the male Faunus as the now named Marrow throws his boomerang at the exposed Geist arm between pieces of ice and rubble, severing it. A Dust crystal flies out from the released rubble, and Marrow's eyes widen.
"Huh?" He said as the crystal falls toward the ground, and Marrow catches his boomerang. He then faced the other member of his group and called out. "Harriet!"
The now named Harriet charges her Semblance and then speeds after the crystal, maneuvering around falling rocks. She runs up a rock, jumps off the side of a raised walkway and catches the crystal in mid-air, landing on another walkway. Teams JNPR, RWBY, and VRMN watch the Ace-Ops in amazement except Vic, as they continue fighting. Marrow cuts off the Geist's other arm, sending another Dust crystal flying through the air.
"Crap!" Marrow cursed till the crystal is caught by their leader, who just arrived with Qrow.
The man chuckles and said, "What would you guys do without me?"
He tosses the crystal to Qrow, who looks at him with an eyebrow raised. The leader salutes to Qrow and jumps backward off the cliff. Harriet speeds around the Petra Gigas' feet, while Vine swings himself around and punches the Petra Gigas in the chest. Harriet speeds to the middle of the room, whistles and waves at the Petra Gigas, then speeds away when it tries to hit her. Elm takes this opportunity to slam her hammer onto the rock composing part of the Petra Gigas' arm. The rock becomes stuck, and as the Petra Gigas struggles to pull it up, Marrow severs its arm once again.
He then lands on the ground, deploys his fishing rod, and runs over to the Petra Gigas. He jumps off its leg, launching himself into the air. He bumps his clover pin with his thumb, swings his pole and pulls on the fishing line, directing it to wrap around the Geist's mask and hook onto it. Team RWBY's eyes widen in amazement, and Clover pulls, forcing the Geist out of the ice block. Harriet runs into position and uses her Semblance to launch straight up into the air, punching the Geist with her weapon, killing it. As purple Dust crystals begin raining down, the Ace-Ops catch them. One crystal is sent flying through the air on the other side of the chamber.
"Harriet!" The leader called out to her as she uses her Semblance to speed across the room, but she has to maneuver around the falling ice and rocks. The crystal comes close to hitting the ground, and with Harriet mere feet away. Suddenly, a red blur flies past, taking the crystal with it. Surprised, Harriet tumbles and stops. Ruby deactivates her Semblance and falls to the ground in a sitting position, hugging the large crystal tight. She opens her eyes and laughs. Harriet walks over and pulls her to her feet.
"Thought you said your Semblance was like mine," Harriet said as Ruby look at her in confusion with her blue and silver eyes.
"It... is?"
"I've seen other speed Semblances before, but that was different. I think there's more going on than you think."
"Wait until she sees what she can do with her eyes," Yang said as Blake laughs. Qrow jumps down to the ground next to the leader of the Ace-Ops, who puts his weapon away.
"Lucky catch, huh?" Qrow asked.
"Hm. No. I'd chalk that one up to talent."
Ruby, Nora, and Mel begin celebrating on the other side of the chamber, with Elm holding Ruby up on her shoulder.
"Atlas Control, this is Clover. Mission accomplished."
On the other side of the world, Seier is meditating in her and Shori's apartment while their young daughter is being taken care by Emerald the Gardevoir.
She lets out a few breathes till her eyes glows and she opens them.
Seier then stood up and went to sit on the couch, she grabs her pencil and sketchbook on the coffee table and began to draw.
"The flying fortress will soon fall," She muttered as she stopped sketching and look at her work.
She sketch of a castle that crashes on the side of the mountain and the city below being flooded. By the side of her sketch is a black mass while the on the other side are multiple stars.
"You better hurry," Seier muttered as she put down her sketch book back on the table, she look to the corner of the room to see Shori and her weapons being displayed on the wall then to the window to see the afternoon sky. "They are coming."

Boy am I getting close, the RWBY series is now my building block for my stories, I already got some ideas for it, but some can be hasty.
While I am confident that I can make another one, I would have to do a bi weekly update on them since doing VTR, I have to make the chapters ahead quickly for VTR which is tiring.
So I had to do it in bi weekly so I have more time, and probably have some work on the new story.
I know that it has been a very long time that I updated Arc Music Album, but bare with me.
I know that I still want to continue it but I have a very tight schedule for VTR, if I have enough I could, but I slowly feel that I don't have the inspiration for it anymore.
I was happy to make it, but I slowly lose interest on it. I have made the story to be a good reaction story, but half of it becomes a romance story. I can't really do polygamous relationship because of the amount of it, so I kinda feel conflicted on it.
So I can continue AMA but with low enthusiasm, I am still gonna make it a little exciting but that is it.
