Chapter:57 Mystery Party
In Atlas Academy, Weiss is holding an invitation to a banquet hall at the Schnee Manor.
"Something is really wrong," Weiss muttered as she was still thinking to what's missing information that she needed.
In their dorm room, Weiss is sitting in a circle with Ruby, Oscar, Yang, Blake, Mel, Randy, Nomad and Vic. She, Ruby and Oscar are sitting in chairs, Blake and Yang are sitting on Weiss' bed, Mel and Randy on Yang's bed, and Vic and Nomad are sitting on the floor.
"On the news, he said he just wanted to break bread and hash things out. Maybe it won't be so bad? We do want the General to start opening up to these people, right?" Ruby said.
"Yeah, but Ironwood is kinda nervous about this. I really don't what will happen if they ever see each other again," Oscar said.
"Not hard to imagine how that's gonna play out," Blake said.
"It would probably start smoothly at first till it go haywire," Mel said.
"I still can't believe he won. Robyn was supposed to be the people's champion, wasn't she?" Weiss said with a sigh. "There's just too many coincidences."
"You really think your dad might have something to do with Salem?" Yang asked.
"I... I don't think so, if my father really want to change to begin with, then it's not possible," Weiss answered.
"So what to do we do then?" Nomad asked as everyone thought about it till Ruby's unique eyes brightens.
"I got one!" Ruby said as everyone look at her. "If we can't solve it by a far then let's go in close."
"So how do we do that?" Randy said as Ruby look at him, Weiss, and Vic.
"Well, no one knows your Jacques better than Weiss, and out of everyone going tonight, I'd say you're the only one who could snoop around the house and not be questioned. If Jacques Schnee is up to something, I think we should know what it is," Ruby said to Weiss as she then look at Vic. "That is the same with Vic since he has some little problem going around the house from what I heard."
Ruby then look at Randy, "Lastly Randy, I heard that you can now turn invisible with your Semblance, so you could just easily look around as well."
Weiss, Vic, and Randy thinks about it for a moment, then Weiss and Vic gains a somewhat determined look while Randy just shrug.
An Atlas Broadcast News airship hovers in the night sky above the Schnee Manor. Four hover cars drive along the driveway loop and come to a stop in front of the manor. While Ruby, Weiss, Eis, Yang and Qrow get out of their car, Jaune, Oscar and U. Pichu stand nearby, having already exited their car. The Ace Operatives exit another of the cars, and Ironwood steps out of the fourth car with Winter. Penny and Vic gets out of the other side of Ironwood's car.
"Suppose we should smile for the cameras?" James asked as Winter looked at him.
"Sir, with all due respect, you'd have to pay me."
Ironwood smiles in amusement from Winter's response, and the two head to the front door of the manor. Weiss stops and takes a deep breath before following them. Everyone gathers at the door, and Ironwood rings the bell. The double doors open to reveal Whitley and Neige the Snom on his shoulder.
"Good evening, everyone," Whitley welcomed the group.
"Where's Klein?" Weiss asked as Whitley frown and crossed his arms.
"Father put him on a break, while he wasn't fired, he still needed to punish him you know," He said as Weiss frowns as well and nods in understanding. He then look at Ironwood and said. "General, exactly how large do you think our dining room table is?"
"I happen to know it's enormous. But most of my guests will be on standby in case the council requests additional eye witnesses. Until then I'm sure they'll be happily celebrating your father's victory," James said.
Whitley let out a nervous laugh while looking around, Weiss and Vic notices this as the two look at each other, he then lead the group into the foyer. Scattered around the room are small groups of formally dressed guests. Waiters roam the room with trays of wine glasses and hors d'oeuvres. Whitley stops in the middle of the room, turns to Ironwood's group and points to his right.
"For those of you joining us in the dining room, please follow me," Whitley said as Neige let out a cute cry while pointing in the same direction. He walks in the direction he pointed, crossing his arms behind his back. Ironwood, Winter, Penny and Clover follow. Clover and Penny glances back at the others.
"Wish us luck," Clover said.
"I mean, they already invited you, didn't they?" Qrow said as Clover responds with a slight chuckle. Penny quickly gave Vic a small wave as Vic glady return it with a smile.
A Faunus waiter approaches Qrow and offers him a tray of wine glasses with his rabbit ears folded back.
"Care for a drink, sir?" He asked as Qrow looks at the wine, his eyes widening slightly.
"Uh... No, n-no thanks," Qrow said as he waves his hand in rejection and turns to Team RWBY and Vic. "I think I'll just stick to patrolling the grounds."
Qrow walks away from the group. Marrow frowns and watches the waiter pass by.
"Words out of my mouth," Marrow said as he walks away in the same direction as Qrow, and Harriet turns to address Team RWBY.
"Right, well, don't wander off, don't break anything, and be ready in case the General calls on you," She then walks away with Vine and Elm.
"Hors d'oeuvres?" Vine asked.
"Let's eat them out of house and home," Elm said.
"Counterpoint, how about we do wander off, consider breaking things, and then all that other stuff," Yang said.
"We'll be in touch," Weiss said as she points to her ear.
"Just buy us some time," Vic said as he saw the others coming inside and sent Randy a nod.
The masked teen quickly went to a more secluded area to begin the plan.
While Vic headed to the halls, Weiss went to the staircase. She stops at the base of the staircase upon seeing Whitley descending the stairs.
"Dear sister, can I talk with you for a while?" Whitley asked.
"Oh--"
"Please," He said with a troubled look as Weiss felt hesitant.
She looks to the others as they don't know what to do till she saw a silhouette slightly rippling till it disappeared, she then look at her little brother and said, "I guess we could have time."
Whitley smiled and said, "Thank you."
The others saw this as they look at each other.
"What now?" Oscar asked.
"Give them some time, but also not do an obvious distraction," Pyrrha said.
"So do anything to make it happen except for breaking things," Nomad said as everyone quickly look at Nora, who pouts from the stares she was getting.
"General Ironwood, please... have a seat."
Jacques is standing on the other side of the room at the head of a long dining room table, and he opens his arms in invitation. Sitting to either side of him are two other members of the Council, both male and female. On the left side of the room, Robyn is standing by a window, staring outside with her arms crossed. Ironwood nods to Clover and Winter, who then take their seats on either side of the end of the table nearest to them. Penny takes a seat next to Winter.
"Councilman Sleet, Councilwoman Camilla," James greeted the two as he takes a seat at the end of the table.
"Councilwoman Hill would have had a nice ring to it. Though I suppose I should just be grateful I got invited to the table," Robyn said as she takes a seat at the middle of the table.
Jacques cough and said, "Miss Hill, that vigor of yours is precisely why we're grateful to have you with us tonight."
"What is she doing here?" James questioned.
"Because I just want to say something General, this must include her," Jacques said as Ironwood look at him suspiciously.
"If you say so," James said, unconvinced.
Jacques then look at Penny and said, "I trust Mister Polaris after helping me with my family's company, so I hope you're identity will soon be cleared."
Penny perk up by this as she numbly nods.
"So why are we here Jacques?" Ironwood said.
"Not for now, as I could see that my fellow guests need to ease their minds," Jacques said as the waiter and waitress entered with trays of food. "For now, we eat."
In the foyer, Ruby and friends watch from across the room as Whitley continues to talk to Weiss in front of the staircase.
"Weiss could've finished by now," Yang said in annoyance.
"Just wait, we don't want to rush this," Nomad said.
"So we should eat and relax, and let the guys come back," Mel said as he already have a plate of appetizers.
Everyone look at each other as they were hesitant but gave in and went to get some snacks.
"So what do you want to talk about?" Weiss asked her brother.
"I need your help," Whitley said as Weiss looked surprised.
"On what?"
"A man came here from the last two days and father was hesitant around him, I don't really saw much but you must help," Whitley pleaded as Weiss thought about it.
She then look at him and said, "I will, so can you let me through?"
Whitley smiled and said, "Thank you, sister."
The young Schnee then left to join the rests of the guests with Neige on his shoulder while Weiss look ay him.
"Anytime... brother," Weiss said as she began to think that her family did began to change. She then began to ascend the stairs while the others saw this.
"Told you," Nomad said as he took a whole piece of meatball in his mouth.
In the dining room, the Council members have begun talking to Ironwood.
"The fact of the matter is, you've operated with a fair amount of autonomy for the past few years, James. But we need now is for you to work with us," Councilman Sleet said while Winter is tapping her finger on the table with a scowl on her face.
"Sir, I have--"
"It's obvious that no kingdom intends to declare war on Atlas," Councilwoman Camilla cuts the General off. "We had no involvement in the incident at Haven, we have proof our drones weren't acting on orders at Beacon. At this point, the closure of Atlas borders is only serving to hurt our relations with the rest of the world."
"I--"
"The rest of the world? It's hurting us. The people of Atlas are suffering and they want to know why," Robyn said as she turns her head to look at Ironwood who looks saddened.
"While I did say that we should've relax, I couldn't help but agree Miss Hill," Jacques said as Ironwood drops the saddened expression and looks at Jacques. Robyn turns to Jacques, as well. "And I'm afraid there's more than just your choices that have brought harm to our citizens as of late. Have your forces found any additional evidence as to who is slaughtering innocent civilians down in Mantle?"
Clover is looking at Ironwood, and as he begins to speak, Clover turns his gaze to Jacques, "That is an ongoing investigation, the details of which are classified, I'm afraid."
Jacques look at him and said, "I'm afraid of the ever-growing list of classified information you seem to be keeping. I asked our fellow councilmen here to shed some light on your Amity Colosseum project and, as it turns out, they know about as much as I do."
Winter continues to tap her finger on the table as Robyn said, "Even you don't know?"
"The Amity Project will help with all of the issues you've presented, but you have to understand that discretion is a top priority at this time," James said.
"Are you saying you don't trust us?" Jacques questioned as he look at the General intently.
Winter's tapping speeds up, and she aggressively slams her fist onto the table and stands up, facing Jacques.
"You can't just buy trust like everything else, you have to earn it!" She yelled to her father as Robyn looks at Winter, smiling a little. There is silence for a few moments, and Jacques closed his eyes and let out an exasperated sigh.
"Trusts?" He said as he slammed the table, which surprised his guests, and stood up to glare at James. "Trusts?! I clearly see that you General have spent what little trust this Council had left in you! The hacker who turned Atlas drones against us was never captured, whoever's been murdering your critics is still at large! How are we supposed to give you our trust, when you've given us nothing as of late?!"
He then faced her shocked eldest daughter and said, "You can be angry at me all you want, but you have no say when you don't know what's happening in this house! Yes I was cruel, yes I was cold, but you can't clearly see me be redeemable! I know I have done many terrible deeds, but you can't always see me as the monster you always envisioned me!"
Now relieved on letting it out, Jacques sat down letting some more of his frustration by breathing while his guests sat there in shock.
"I... E-excuse me for a moment," Winter said as she hastily went out of the room just as a female butler enters, and she shoves the door open on her way out into the hall.
Jacques rub his forehead at this as he look down to his other hand and clenched it from frustration.
Weiss walks down a hallway, passing by a room that has framed portraits and replicas of Manticore and Beowolf heads decorating the inside wall around the doorway.
One of the portraits is a painting of Jacques and Weiss, from when Weiss was younger and still had her ponytail centered, before she received a scar over her eye. Another portrait depicts a white-haired man in a suit of armor. One portrait depicts Whitley playing piano, and another appears to depict a man in a white suit shaking hands with a man in a dark suit outside a Schnee Dust mine. There is a pair of portraits appearing to depict headshots of Jacques and her mother in their wedding attire, from a profile view. The other portraits depict the Schnee Manor, a curved pathway between two unknown structures, the City of Atlas, an industrial type building next to a cliff, and a fountain with a statue of a winged figure holding a staff.
As Weiss continues walking, she is startled by a waitress.
"Miss Schnee, is everything okay?" The waitress asked.
"I'm fine, thank you! Keep up the great work," Weiss said respectfully as she curtseys and walks past the waitress, continuing on her way through the halls. Once she gets to Jacques' study, Weiss enters and breathes a sigh of relief, still facing the door. A voice from across the room startles her.
"Hello sweetie."
Weiss turns around to see her mother, Willow, standing behind Jacques' desk.
She is a a fair-skinned woman with slate-blue eyes. She wears her white hair in a ponytail over her shoulder, low on the right side of the back of her head, while her bangs are shaped around the left side of her face and a small curled lock of hair reaching almost to her shoulders.
Her attire consists of a white cravat secured by a silver brooch set with a red stone; as well as a light purple jacket with light sleeves, a wide belt around her waist, a matching pencil skirt with black tights and slippers.
She looks very troubled while a bottle of wine was a few feet part away from her.
Randy, still invisible, silently sneak around the mansion till he stops when he saw Winter stands alone with her arms crossed in a hallway away from the dining room while having a troubled look on her face.
"Are you okay?"
Randy lean a little to see Winter looks to her right to see Penny leaning around the corner. Penny walks over to her.
'Crap!' Randy thought as he quickly put his back on the wall.
"I... I'll be fine. I just let my emotions get the better of me," Winter said as Penny look at her in worry.
"I see," Penny said. "Do you want any help?"
"It... It's fine. It... It's nothing," Winter said as she placed her hand over to where her heart is.
"Oh, okay," Penny said. Saddened, Penny looks down at the floor, fidgeting with her skirt. Winter looks at Penny, and upon seeing Penny's expression, she realizes that her words were misinterpreted. She moves to stand in front of Penny, speaking with a softer tone than usual, and Penny lifts her head to look at her.
"Sorry, what I mean is, this place holds a lot of memories for me, specifically. I thought I was in control, but... you heard me. I sounded like a petulant child."
"It's okay, I know that you were troubled. You were just speaking from your heart," Penny said for comfort.
"I guess my hate on my father is misplaced sometimes," Winter said as Penny turns her eyes away, thinking for a moment. She then looks at Winter.
"Then relax, Vic always told me that having a clear mind always helps," Penny said as Winter smiled at the gynoid.
"Thank you," She said as Penny gave her a salute.
"Your welcome," Penny said as she then walks away, going back around the corner. Winter stays behind, watching her go.
While Randy listened to their conversation, he slowly sneak away to not get caught and continue to get some evidence.
"Mother?" Weiss said as she looked worried.
"I know what you are trying to find," Willow said as walks around to the side of Jacques' desk and took a deep breathe.
"Then you know that I need to see it," Weiss said as Willow nods and gestured her daughter to come over.
Weiss walks toward her father's desk while Willow leans on the desk.
"Everything you need is in his computer and you already know how paranoid your father was, he started locking his home computer."
Willow turns and picks up a Scroll from the desk.
"But I have something just in case," She said as she opens the Scroll and taps one of the buttons, showing Weiss a live camera feed of the office. Weiss gasps and looks at the corner behind Jacques' desk. She then looks at Willow.
"You put a camera in here?" Weiss said as her mother nods.
"I put them in every room of this house, for our safety, in case I ever needed to…" Willow stopped as she quickly trails off and takes a moment to gather herself. She then looks at Weiss. "You haven't come back to stay, have you?"
"... No," Weiss said hesitantly.
"Good," Willow said with a smile as a single tear rolls down her cheek. Her smile soon fades, and she wipes her tear away, while Weiss looks away sadly.
"A man came by," Willow said as she hands Weiss the Scroll and begins walking across the room. "I'm afraid your father may be involved in something more dangerous than he realizes, and having trouble getting out of it."
Weiss looks at the Scroll, which has a recorded video of Jacques and Watts pulled up.
"No matter what happens, Weiss... please don't forget about our family," Willow said to her daughter as Weiss looks at her.
She look down in hesitation till she look up and said, "I will."
Willow stops at the door and turns to look at Weiss.
"I know you will," Willow said as she looks at the portrait of Jacques behind the desk, and Weiss looks at it too. "When I first saw it, your father truly began to change."
Willow leaves the room, shutting the door behind her, and Weiss stares at the door with a look of contemplation. She then gathers herself and looks at the paused video suspiciously.
"Who are you?" Weiss muttered as she taps the screen to begin playing the video.
In an unknown dark place, it was all quiet till the surrounding earth began to shake and seven red glowing lights dimly shine in the darkness.
And that is it for this chapter.
So Volume 9 will be next year of all times, I know some of my chapters will end up there but I will stop right there till Volume 9 comes out. I have many planned stories that I really want to do and really can't wait to make them, but I can only do one till I finished another story.
I do this because I really don't have a clear schedule and can only do one story at a time, and I really just want to focus on a single story till I finished one.
So I have some RWBY/Fate crossovers that is inspired from other stories that I have read and really want to do them.
I have some few RWBY/Pokémon crossovers that won't use any OC, but rather characters from both the anime and manga with ships that some of you guys like. I will not do Amourshipping, there are already many of them so I will do my favorite ships.
I would also do some other crossovers along with just normal RWBY stories with some good add ons to make them interesting.
So for now, I have move on and plan an omake to show some more of Team VRMN.
So see you guys in the next chapter.
Vic out Peace.
