Chapter:68 Prelude of the Assault

On the airspace of Atlas yet again, Shori managed to lead back his wife on the right track while looking on their Scrolls that now contains static.

Shori sighs from this and said, "I hope that their message went through."

"We just need to hope," Seier said as their trip towards Atlas was filled with silence.

...

"So did anything happen during our time in Vacuo?" Shori asked his wife as she thought about it.

"Well... I began a research campaign for any relics that would show us the connection between our worlds and to theirs," Seier said to him.

"And what did you find?" He asked her.

"Well... We found some old indications that Arceus did arrive here along with the rest of the legends. It was even told how they have changed the world of Remnant to what they are. It is quite strange that two of the continents were shaped like dragons, we could tell that it's Regigigas' work. I even went to Mistral to research those floating rocks and I could even feel some hint of Psychic energy from the Gravity Dusts there," She said to him.

"Then it is a great discovery," Shori said in joy but Seier looked saddened. "What's wrong."

"It kinda feels wrong you know," Seier said.

"What is?"

"Well... I feel so afraid that these world would take advantage of the Pokémons here. It is a slow start, but I feel afraid that there could be someone trying to cause further chaos," She said to him.

"I don't think you have to worry about it," Shori assured her. " We are trying to teach the first generation of Trainers and I have high hopes for them. Plus, we did get rid one of them. Remember that so called kid that tried to takeover? We destroyed him and his group after trying to escape and trying to control the surrounding Pokémons there. He clearly didn't listen to our lessons when he got attacked by the resident Dark Types that he somehow pissed off."

Seier giggled from the and said, "Yeah, I don't think anyone would try to overestimate or underestimate Pokémon anytime soon, but it would eventually happen."

"And the next generation will be there to stop it, if they aren't like assholes or anything," Shori said to her. "Like really, we need to lead these kids to the right path or they might do something awful.

Seier said as the couple continued to fly towards Atlas till her eyes began to glow and she has a serious look on her face. She quickly turn Fox around as her husband saw go to the opposite direction.

"Where are you going?!" He called out to her.

"The war zone is on a different place!" She yelled back at him and Shori quickly turn Alpha around when he heard it.

"Where to now!?" He called out to her again as she looks directly towards him.

"Vacuo!"

Cinder awakes on a bed somewhere within Monstra and sits up. Emerald hurries over, kneels in front of her and takes Cinder's Grimm hand into hers.

"You're awake. I was so worried. How are you feeling?" She asked in worry.

"You… You brought me back here," Cinder said as she pulls her hand away and looks to the side, upset. "We failed."

"Cinder, you were hurt. I was just trying to help," Emerald said sincerely.

"I think she's had enough help."

Mercury then entered the room and said, "Besides, she went against our queen. I'd be careful who you back."

"Cinder's hunch was right. If we'd had support then maybe we would've--"

"Would you stop trying to protect her already? She doesn't care about you," Mercury cuts off Emerald in annoyance while Cinder becomes annoyed as well, and her eye manifests the Maiden flame.

"Both of you, get out. I'll let you know when you're needed next," Cinder ordered as Emerald sadly looks away from Cinder, then looks at Mercury.

"Yeah about that, Salem's got other plans for me. I'm not gonna be taking orders from you anymore," Mercury said as Cinder's Maiden eye flame disappears and she looks surprised and saddened. "She wants everyone on the bridge. Something big is about to happen."

Emerald looks at Cinder while Mercury heads for the door. Emerald then sighs, gets up and follows Mercury. On their way out the door, Mercury is smirking and Emerald is sad.

In the torture room, Oscar is left alone with U. Pikachu struggling in a corner while wrapped with darkness.

'I'd like to express again that this is my burden to bear, not yours. His grudge is with me,' Ozpin said to him.

'No, it'll be even worse. He's holding back with me. I can tell,' Oscar said as he is now bruised, has a black eye and has blood smudged under his nose and by the corner of his mouth.

'I understand. I do. But you've done so much already. The least I can do is give you a break and try to get us out of here.'

'We can't leave yet. This is our chance.'

'Hmm, maybe you've taken one too many hits.'

'Salem, she knows she can't take on the whole world at once. So she doesn't. She has her followers work their way in sabotaging us from the inside out.'

'Maybe we should do the same,' The both of them said.

'We certainly are similar, you and I. Maybe we have been presented with an opportunity,' Ozpin said till the membrane door squelches open, and Hazel enters the room.

'Great,' Oscar thought, this might be their only chance.

'Oscar, please.'

Hazel picks up Oscar and slams him against a bone spike while U. Pikachu struggles harder to escape.

"You don't need to fight this war, kid. Tell me what I need and we can be done," Hazel offered to the farmhand.

"Hello Hazel," Then Ozpin's voice came out of Oscar's mouth as the farmhand's eyes glow yellow momentarily, revealing that Ozpin has taken control. Hazel quickly becomes angered.

"Coward! All this time, it could have been you, but you let him suffer," Hazel said in anger as he tosses Ozpin. "Now tell us how this damned Lamp works. The boy has suffered enough."

Ozpin then stands up and said, "Why do you follow her?"

Hazel walks over and kicks Ozpin hard enough to knock him down. U. Pikachu kept struggling till he felt something and grew stiff in fear.

"I know…" Ozpin coughs before continuing. "I know how you see me. But her? Look at what she does. How is she the answer? Why not stop her!?"

Hazel stops and looks away. He then walks across the room to a bone spike.

"Salem can't be stopped. She's a force of nature. I've seen it first hand. But you..." Hazel said as he breaks the tip of the bone spike off and starts walking toward Ozpin, sharpening the spike on the metal plate on the back of his hand. "You send children to their deaths for a cause that you know has no victory, no end!"

"Someone has to try! Salem isn't a force of nature because Salem can be fought! Unless she brings the Relics together. If that happens--"

"Ozma. You have wonderful timing," He then froze as Salem was there standing on the doorway. "The show is about to begin."

A short time later, Salem is sitting on her throne with The Hound next to it. Lined up kneeling in front of her are Oscar, Hazel, Tyrian, Cinder and Mercury. Kneeling off to the side are Emerald, Roman, Neo and the duo's Pokémons. U. Pikachu was in the room as well, but he was wrapped on Oscar's back so he doesn't just zap anyone without hurting his friend. Salem stands up and walks over in front of Cinder, before moving to stand in front of Tyrian.

"We have good news. Tyrian has heard from our dear colleague Watts. Although he remains in captivity, it seems that he has worked with Ironwood to gain some control over the puppet masquerading as the Winter Maiden. I suppose he remains useful after all," Salem said as she gently sets her hand on Tyrian's head, as he holds up aScroll. She then turns her attention to Cinder, losing her smile. "Speaking of which… Cinder."

Cinder's Shadow Hand begins hissing and smoking, and she grunts and cries out in pain, trying to hold the writhing arm still.

"You chose to disobey my specific instructions just to fail again," Salem said as Emerald watches wide-eyed, and Cinder was remembering parts of her childhood. "And I've realized, it's all my fault."

The pain stops, and Cinder looks up in fear as Salem walks over to stand in front of her.

"You've fought your whole life unwaveringly for what you want and here I am holding you back instead of lifting you up," Salem said as she holds her hand out, and Cinder hesitantly rests her Grimm hand in it. The Hound goes to Roman, Neo, their Pokémons and then Emerald, sniffing them. "You deserve so much more than I've given you. Go to Atlas, recover Watts. He can lead you to the girl."

The Hound approaches Cinder and sniffs her, and Cinder looks at it, tensing her shoulders up.

"Whether you or my Hound get to her first, you will finally have the Winter Maiden's power, and I will have my Staff," Salem said.

"You'll only be helping her bring about the end, for all of you!" Ozpin yelled out till Hazel slams Ozpin against the ground and then holds him up as Salem approaches. She leans to his face, smiling.

"You're too late," She said to him deviously.

An airship is flying through the air somewhere above the tundra. Inside, Elm and Vine discuss Penny, while Winter listens from one of the pilot's seats.

"Did the hack just not work? How do we even know we can trust Watts?" Elm questions, clearly not trusting the supposed to be dead scientists.

"We have confirmed visual of her leaving Amity. She appeared to be malfunctioning," Vine said to her.

"This is why I don't trust technology! Now we're wasting our time searching for broken junk!" Elm complains as Winter becomes annoyed and turns in her seat to look at them.

"Enough! You're Atlas elite, act like it," Winter sternly said to them as Marrow, who is piloting the ship, puts his finger to the communicator in his ear. He then addresses Winter.

"Um, ma'am, we're picking up an open comms broadcast," Marrow said.

"Play it," She ordered him as Marrow pressed a button and plays the broadcast.

"It's headed straight for Mantle! I repeat, a large mass of Grimm is headed straight for Mantle! Please, anyone!" The broadcast was from Jaune himself.

Winter and Marrow look concerned, while Elm, Vine and Harriet walk forward with interest. Soon after, the airship lands in the tundra in front of Jaune, Pyrrha, Yang, Ren, Randy and Nomad who are riding the now repaired two HVB Rhino hoverbikes. Winter and Harriet hop out of the airship, while Jaune, Ren and Randy get off the bike.

"Great, you guys," Yang said sarcastically.

"You're not the only who's annoyed by this," Nomad said.

"But if we must," Pyrrha admitted in worry.

"Did you hear our message? It's right there. We need to hurry," Jaune said to them as he gestures to the river of Grimm Liquid to his right. Harriet looks at Winter, then at Jaune.

"Where's Penny?" Harriet questions him as Jaune look at her in shock.

"Are you serious right now!? There are people in danger," He pointed out to her.

"There are people in danger because you kids are acting selfish and--"

The ground suddenly begins shaking with a series of earthquakes, which frighten people in Mantle and in the Mantle crater. The fear draws attention from Grimm.

The Grimm river forms a geyser that shoots up high enough to hit the City of Atlas. The geyser continues until it forces its way through the city's Hard-Light shield. Centinels spawn from the liquid. The Ace Operatives, Winter, Jaune, Pyrrha, Yang, Ren, Randy and Nomad look on wide-eyed, while Weiss, Ruby, Blake, May, Mel, Vic and Ironwood watch in horror through a broadcast. The Centinels begin burrowing into the earth, while a military airship tries to shoot them. The Grimm then make their way through the ground and dislodge two of the shield's pylons, causing them to fall to the ground beneath Atlas. With the two pylons gone, the entire shield is disabled.

Inside Monstra, Salem smiles, and her eyes glow.

"It's time," She said as Monstra flies over to the City of Atlas and crash lands on one of its farms. The whale opens its mouth, and Grimm Liquid comes flooding out. A variety of Grimm spawn, including Manticores, Teryxes, Megoliaths, Boarbatusks, Apathy, Ursai, Beowolves and winged Beringels.

But unbeknownst to everyone, the whole land of Atlas have one last defense. The last stand of its two cities. The lost hope of its people.

Slumbering under the mountains with snowy peaks lay a being of great power that would becomes the guardian of the world.

It pulls whole continents with mere ropes that soon would become bizarre wonders that would be seen up in the Heavens.

It has created five beings made not out of flesh and bones, but out of rocks, ice, steel and pure energy.

O mighty Titan, wake up from your slumber once more.

Rise up from your resting chamber and protect the people once more.

O great Colossus, protect Remnant once more from the curse that it was put on.

And that is it for this chapter.

The end of Volume 8 is closing and I am happy for this story to reach this point. Victory through Remnant will be put in a temporary hiatus till Volume 9 comes out with their transcripts.

I don't know when it would come out so I have to wait for it. It might take months or a year to come out. If it did during the making of this chapter then I'm gonna continue it.

If the Volume hasn't come out yet during the making of this chapter, I have many stories planned but I'm gonna only one. I would then have to change the publish time for each chapter since once per week is too fast for my taste.

So let's see what stories that I have in store:

First is a Pokémon x RWBY Crossover but with different characters. I would be using the first four main characters of the Pokémon Adventures Manga, and I might say, I love the manga very much. I have only reached only at the beginning of GSC arc of the manga. I enjoyed the first Generation characters so much that I really want to do a story about it.

Second is also a Pokémon x RWBY Crossover, but I'm mixing the Pokémon anime and manga together so I could put it in RWBY. Ash is clearly the main character along with a team that I still have to work on.

Third is a reaction story of this very story with certain RWBY characters only watching it. I got inspired by other reaction stories that I very much enjoyed.

And finally, it is not Pokémon x RWBY this time but a Fate x RWBY Crossover. The two teams would have Servants from Fate shows and movies that is only in Netflix, so not everything from Fate Grand Order except for Babylonia will be used.

So those are the stories that I have in mind if this story is put on hiatus.
