Third person pov:
Kings landing, tower of hand:
At the top of the tower there was a man sat in darkness, the room only illuminated by the candles around the desk.
The man was milky white pale, long white hair, and crimson red eyes. On the right side of his face, he had a dark red winestain birthmark that extended from his throat up to his right cheek.
This man his named Bryden Rivers master of whispers and the hand of the king for Maekar Targaryen.
He was going through the letters sent by high and minor lord alike, breaking the seal he started to read.
Lord Rivers, Hand of the King
I write this letter asking you if my house was allowed to renovate the part of the kingsroad that comes through my lands.
Lord Walder Frey, Lord of House Frey
All Bryden did was laugh, since most lords would rather keep everything all the same as long as coin doesn't stop coming, Bryden writes a reply to Lord Frey sealing the letter he put it to the side for later.
Seagard, Lord's solar:
Sitting in his solar Lord Jaseth Mallister, he was staring at a letter with the Frey seal, hoping it wasn't a marriage proposal for his house, breaking the seal he read.
Lord Mallister, Head of house Mallister
I've recently finished the renovation of the eastern road from the twins to the kingsroad and soon will have renovated the kingsroad in my lands, and renovated the western road from the twins to Seagard stopping at are shared border.
I'm writing to you if you would be willing to do a joint venture in renovating the road in your lands connecting Seagard to the Twins and in part to the Kingsroad, write if you're interested and if not, no reply is enough.
Lord Walder Frey, Lord of House Frey
Lord Mallister was a little peeved at how the Frey worded the ending, but what he was offering was promising in the least, allowing both parties to come out the better, grabbing a quill to write a reply to Frey's letter.
Greywater watch, Lord's solar:
In the floating keep, Lord Brandon Reed was having the most unforeseen day ever, a raven arrived from the Twins, when first got it he was every willing to burn the letter, but the new lord Frey chose to send a letter to a long-standing rival, breaking the seal he started to read.
Lord Reed, Head of house Reed
I'm renovating the kingsroad in my lands and the roads from kingsroad to Seagard, I know our houses have had a long-standing feud, I wish to improve relations between our houses for a better future, and if you're willing to discuss a future between our houses in person at the Twins, if yes send a raven in reply.
Lord Walder Frey, Lord of House Frey
Grabbing a quill to reply to the young Lord Frey, since the young lord seemed sincere in his want to improve relations between their houses.
Time skip:
Frey lands:
There was a group of around fifty Frey men waiting around a group of chained men. They heard a group approaching, they see two horsemen with a dozen Frey soldiers surrounding them.
Walder pov:
Climbing off my horse with my sword, walking up to my men who were standing around the group of chained men.
"How many and where did you find them?" I asked
One of them steps forward, "Twenty in all and we found some near Reed, Mallister, and some of them while they were robbing on the Twins road." He said, pointing at some of the bandits
I walk up to the bandits to get a better look at them they were well equipped for a group of bandits.
They were each wearing a piece of armor that looked to be part of same set of armor, there was a pile of weapons taken from them, there were some bows, wooden clubs, and one steel sword.
"Nephew why are you obsessed with clearing out bandits" He said
Turning back to him; he was still on his horse.
"It annoys me that they believe they can get away with stealing from me, and we'll be having guests coming soon." I said
"Who will be our guests?" He asked
"House Reed." I said
My uncle laughs, "Why would you care about the frog eaters" He said
I turned to look at the bandits crouching down to their level, "I want a productive relationship with are neighbors." I said
Standing up I throw a bag of dragons to the men who caught the bandits, "Slit their throats and be done with it and take anything of value, leave the bodies to the crows and wolves!" I yelled
Climbing back onto my horse, I start to head back to the Twins as I hear the yells and screams of the bandits.
Time skip:
As we rode over the drawbridge into the court yard of the Twins.
Climbing off are horses, "Why did you invite the Reeds, what do they to offer?" He asked, walking to the keep
"To improve relations with the Reeds, I thought it needed a more hands-on approach, and I believe they have a valuable resource".
As we walk into the keep Maester Harran walks up to us, "Milord three letters arrived, they are in your solar." He said
"Thank you Maester Harran, once the kingsroad in are land are renovated and the road connecting Seagard, build a dock on the western bank of the twins a couple yards up river from us and look into importing some tart grapes, seeds, and plants." I said
Harran hurried beside me as I made my way to the solar, "why tart grapes?" He asked
Stopping at the door of the solar, "To grow them and to make riverland wine, we will need to build a place to produce and store it." I said
"I think we will build the vineyard on the eastern side, two miles from the twins, a couple yards from the eastern road." I said
After what I said Harran walked away to start preparing for what I said.
Walking into the solar I sit down on my chair grabbing the first letter breaking its seal I begin to read.
Lord Frey, Head of House Frey
You have the granted permission of the crown to renovate the kingsroad only within your lands.
Lord Bryden Rivers, Hand of the King
Putting it down I break the seal of the next one, starting to read it.
Lord Frey, Head of House Frey
I'm willing to split the cost of renovating the road from your border to Seagard, splitting the cost of materials and labor costs.
Lord Jaseth Mallister, lord of Seagard
I grab the next letter, breaking the seal beginning to read.
Lord Frey, Head of House Frey
By the time this raven reaches you, my party would've parted already for the twins on the kingsroad.
Lord Brandon Reed, Lord of greywater watch
I called in a servant, "Tell my uncle to send a dozen guards to meet the reeds at the border to escort them here." I said
"Also tell him and Maester Harran to start preparing for them, and to that we have permission from the crown and seagard to renovate the road and that the mallisters are willing to split the cost." I said
"Tell Maester to write up a contract for me and lord mallister to sign." I said, the servant leaves to do as their told.
Laying my head on the desk, I just started to grin, since this is just the beginning of everything.
