The eight nodded, like that cleared everything up. "Now, answer one of our questions." Annabeth said. "How do you know who we are?" Cassie looked eager to answer, but I answered first. "Uh, I need to talk with my friends first."

We huddled up, while the eight talked together. Cassie squealed. "I can't believe it's actually them!" I shook my head. They stared at me.

"Look, they don't know that they're a book! "

I told them. "So?" Lilith asked. "I don't know…it just doesn't feel right. I mean, what would they do if they knew they're not actually real—but they are, Ugh! This is so confusing." I re-did my ponytail in frustration. "Ok, so we'll make something up." Nicki finished. We all nodded in agreement.

We shuffled back into a circle. "Ok, so the truth is… someone sabotaged your vacation, and…" I started. "And, the gods, chose us as your companions to," Cassie continued. "Help you get back to Camp-Half-Blood!" Lilith finished. The eight all raised their eyebrows.

"Yeah, sure." Annabeth said. "Maybe could you tell us the tru—" Piper tried charmspeak. As if programmed to do it, Cassie, Lilith, Nicki and I's arms shot to our ears. Piper's voice drained out. She stopped and stared. I dropped my arms cautiously. "Right now, we're your only chance, you have no choice but to trust us." Nicki pointed out; fingers still plugged in her ears.

Hazel and Frank sighed. "Fine," Annabeth huffed. Another cold breeze blew across my face. I pulled the hood over my head, sending a rush of warmth through my cheeks. "Ok, we should be able to reach Ney York by tomorrow morning if we leave right now." I inform. Lilith shook her head. "Olivia, our parents will send out thousands of search parties to look for us when they find out we're gone."

I planned ahead for that. "Did you bring your phones with you?" I asked my friends. All of them nodded, except for Nicki. She shook her head. "It's okay, I'll try to make it work. Okay, hand me the phones. You can open it, right?" I ask, a little un-prepared for this part.

The home screen shone bright, hurting my eyes a bit, as Cassie and Lilith unlocked the phones. I opened the notes app, and made a fake reminder.

Cassie, and her friends are going to New York, they leave at 4:00 in the morning, I type in Cassie's mother's phone.

Not the best, but we have to work with what we have, as in my raisin sized brain. I did a similar thing to Lilith dad's phone, but with a twist. At the end I wrote, Remind Nicole's parents about this.

I'm really bad at this, I speculated. I returned the hones and nodded at the eight. They nodded back. I took a deep breath, before I explained my bizarre idea to everyone.

"So, we leave at 3 in the morning, steal—whoops, borrow your parents' Bugatti and then improvise from there." Leo finalized. I shrugged. "You guys do it all the time. There'll be a lot of monster attacks because of your aura, but we have to stick together for safety." I added.

Annabeth analyzed me. It made my palms turn clammy, and my cheeks heat up, despite of the windy, cool weather. "So, it's a death sentence." I gulped. Before I could argue that I didn't have a better idea, she sighed and said, "Seems like everyday for us,"

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. Why did I need her approval so badly? I shook the thought out of my head.

That's when the trouble began.

"Looks like this meeting's pretty much over. See you guys here at three." Cassie said, yawning. Lilith and Nicki waved bye.

We said our goodbyes, and the eight and I were about to head back, when we heard a startled scream. I'd recognize that scream anywhere. It was Lilith's. "That was Lilith!" I told the eight. They drew their weapons, and silently ran to where the scream was heard. I tailed behind them.

I almost bumped into Piper when she abruptly stopped with everyone else. They'd stopped in front of a caramel colored house. I gasped, not because I knew who lived there, but because we heard another scream. This time it was Cassie's.

Then just as quick, we heard the muffled shriek of Nicki. Not loud, but loud enough to know she was terrified. Our eyes widened. The sounds of cry were all coming from different directions. "Split up?" Percy whispered. Jason, Hazel and Frank nodded. Annabeth looked like she wanted to argue, but she said nothing. "Uh, I don't think that's a good idea. It sounded like my friends were attacked by different things." I blurted.

I mentally smacked myself. These people fought way more monsters and battles than I'd ever in a lifetime. "Never mind-"

"I think that makes sense." Annabeth cut me off. She smiled; her golden locks glowed. I gave her a thankful smile back.

Jason cleared his throat. "Uh, I don't know about that. We should at least try splitting up. Divide and conquer, right?" I swallowed the lump in my throat and agreed. "Yeah, totally. Yeah." I mumbled. I could feel Annabeth, Piper and Hazel exchanging pitiful looks.

I don't need more pity. That's all I get every day. If I ever try to join an adult conversation, my dad always briskly says, "She's just a kid," And tells me to play with Alex and Luca. I stared at the pavement. Jason and Percy split the 8 into different groups. 3 people each, I was with Frank and Hazel. Percy, Leo and Annabeth—one group, and Piper, Jason and Nico.

We set out, ready to brawl against whatever got our friends.
