"What's happening?" I asked the dracaena in front of me. She hissed in disgust. "My lord will not be pleased, but I suppose adding a few humans to the demigod delivery will do." She lunged towards me and my friends. Despite her large body, she was able to move quickly and swiftly. "Lilith—Nicki, try to wake Annabeth's group!" I said desperately. There were no way three puny humans could defeat a monster straight out of a Greek story. "I am the best dracaena to live. With the help my Lord, I will be unstoppable and demigods will tremble at the sound of my name."

The scaly monster blocked us into a corner. I was surprised that the people who lived here didn't notice the sounds. Cassie stayed next to me, staring at the dracaena. I noticed Nicki using Nico's blade to saw off the rope tied to the group's hands. "So, I'm guessing you're Kythira?" I said, hoping to stall for a while. The scaly creature snarled. "Yes, but that is not important." Cassie's face brightened as if she got an idea.

"Well, it is, actually."

Kythira frowned. "I know not of what you speak of." Cassie looked confused. "Let me finish, Shakespeare. We were also attacked by um, empousai, and they also seemed to be interested in our demigod friends." What was she doing? I thought.

Kythira cackled. "Aah, I see you encountered that vile snake, Tammi." Cassie may like to crack jokes a lot, but she was one of the smartest in school. She got honor student three years in a row.

"Yeah—Tammi. Right before we defeated her, she went on and on about how much the boss—I mean Lord liked her way more than you." Cassie explained. She hid sly smile as Kythira's eyes shone with denial and envy. Her mouth foamed. It wasn't a pleasant sight, but we had to stall for as long as we could.

Right now, Hazel, frank and Jason's (Piper and Nico) group was unconscious free from their binds. Lilith used one of Franks arrows to cut through the ropes on Percy and Annabeth, while Nicki handled the ones on Leo.

"Impossible!" Kythira screeched, reminding me she existed and was about to rip us into shreds. Her hands grew claws and her teeth somehow looked sharper. I swallowed. Cassie stood her ground. "Yep, it was pretty sad, she's probably somewhere in Tartarus right now telling all the monsters how terrible of a monster you are."

Inside, I was smiling. Cassie was a genius! Kythira had unintentionally implied she had a large ego. Cassie was just pushing her over the edge. If Cassie planned it just right…

"Oh, and she also said she'd destroy in a fight. She sounded pretty smug about it too. Too bad you'll be too busy killing us, instead of proving her wrong."

…She'd break our opponent from the inside.

"Bah How dare she! I will prove to everyone in Tartarus that I am superior!" Kythira roared. "But you don't have celestial bronze. You know what? I think you're the best monster too, how about this," Cassie said as she pulled out a pen from Percy's pockets. She uncapped it and it turned into a gleaming celestial bronze sword. Kythira eyes looked a bit worried for a split second, but it was replaced with rage and determination. Cassie looked at me. "Wanna do the honor?"

I shook my head with a small smile. "Nah, you deserve it." Cassie lunged the sword into the dracaena with a grunt. Kythira stumbled to the ground. Cassie and I looked at each other and most likely thought the same thing: Why weren't she disintegrating?

Just a second after, she exploded in a flurry on yellow specks. I let out a breath I didn't know I wasn't holding. Cassie let the sword clank to the ground. At the same time Nicki and Lilith finished freeing Annabeth's group. They were also passed out.

"Great now what are we going to do?" Lilith asked, exhausted. Nicki blanched. "Um, guys?" She pointed behind me and Cassie. I turned around, hoping there wasn't another terrifying beast we had to fend off.

It was worse. It was something I had stupidly forgotten about.

It was two babies who looked ready to devour us.
