Cp 12
"You-um hi?" Lilith stuttered. Hermes had a white toga with a gold sash around his waist. He wore a gold helmet with two small wings sprouting from each side. He also wore white winged old-fashioned shoes. He didn't have his caduceus with him. It really was him.
I didn't know what to do, it wasn't everyday a real Greek god appeared on the porch of a stranger's house. I waved shyly. He flashed a bright smile. Nicki continued staring at the god. Cassie seemed to be the only one who was excited. "Awesome, dude! Yo, got any more of those shoes?" She asked. Lilith smacked her arm.
"Hermes, what are you doing here?" A voice asked behind us. It was Percy's. Hermes sighed. "You girls, I heard, have been causing some trouble?" He asked us. We looked at the ground. "Lord Mercury, I mean—Hermes, it wasn't all their fault, they also saved our lives." I was surprised to match the voice to Jason.
I shot him a grateful smile.
Hermes chuckled. "No, no. I'm simply here to deliver a message. For the girls." He looked at my friends and myself. "Whatever you told these demigods were true. There is someone sabotaging your vacation," He explained. Hazel sucked in a breath.
"That is right, Ms. Levesque. Although the part of where the gods sent you as companions for these demigods wasn't true, Zeus has pondered about the idea. All twelve of the council watched you as you defeated the dracaena and empousai. Athena suggested you do help them." Cassie, Lilith, Nicki and I exchanged glances. Excited glances, to be specific.
"So, what are you saying?" Leo asked from the back. "You can't seriously think this is safe. They're not demigods, they could get severely injured or even die!" Nico demanded, pointing at my wound. I couldn't feel it anymore, but I knew he made a point.
Nicki gasped. "But…then what are the chances of us all seeing the monsters? It can't be a coincidence that we can see through the mist." The thought sank into my mind. That's true. Had we been able to see through the mist all this time?
Cassie shook her head. "That's…unbelievable."
Lilith frowned. "I mean, it makes sense, but Nicki, are you saying we could demigods?" Nicki shrugged one shoulder. "I'm not sure, but that whistle you did Lilith, I didn't know you could do that." I also didn't know how she did that.
"Well, something told me to try it. I didn't think it would work, but it did. I guess I kind of forgot about it after." Questions swarmed my mind. "But that would mean our parents, isn't…" I couldn't finish.
I was usually the calm one in our friend group, but this information was telling me that my family—wasn't actually my family. Confusion blurred my thoughts. Cassie tried for a smile. "That's cool, right?"
"Hey, its ok. It was kind of hard for us to believe too." Leo told Cassie. Jason and Annabeth walked over to Lilith and Nicki. "Yeah, I mean, assuming this crazy theory is true, you'll get through it." Annabeth reassured. Jason nodded in agreement.
Hermes stayed silent. It seemed like ages before he spoke again. "That's the thing. You aren't fully demigods…yet." We all looked baffled. "Aren't fully demigods?" Nico asked. "What does that mean?"
Hermes took a deep breath.
"That was the message. Zeus is giving you a choice. He has a few gods that are offering to be your "temporary parent" until this quest is over. You'll be able to have their powers—like demigods. If you refuse, which is completely fine, you won't be able to accompany them." Hermes informed.
"Wait, so does that mean they'll be able to have ambrosia and nectar?" Leo suggested. Hermes nodded. "So, what will it be? I have other messages to deliver."
I took a deep breath. "I'm in." Lilith was next. "Me too," Then Nicki. "Same here." Cassie was last, surprisingly. "Uh, yeah, I guess."
Hermes smiled. "Well, then. Time to see your gods!"
