Eren POV

'

The room was filled with the sound of a dozen scouts chatting amongst each other, every one of them talking about something different.

Few knew why they had been gathered, but a general idea had been gathered in the severs minutes they had been in the room.

So this is it. These will be the people to take down the government. I suppose it's more than last time, but still, will it be enough?

He saw Hanji, Levi, and Eld enter the room quickly, each of them strutting forward towards the front of the gathered Scouts.

If this coup gets bloody then this will turn into hell. The capitol building will be tough to take, and with dozens of armed MPs guarding it, I reckon casualties will be high.

They also have several Scouts kept in the building, so a siege isn't optional. And if they wait for me to arrive then they'll just execute them anyway.

"Scouts, I need your attention!" Hanji called out suddenly, dragging him from his thoughts. She stood up in front of them alongside Levi and Eld, the only veteran Scouts not imprisoned at the moment.

Even Moblit, Hanji's second in command, had been captured. From what she had told them, he had saved her from capture by giving himself up to the MPs, buying her the time to escape

"Our plan is finally ready, and after much talk, we know what our plan of action will be," Hanji began. "It will start with Eren handing himself in to the government."

As expected the room was filled with complete shock at her statement, and he did not doubt that all of them were expecting the opposite of that.

"I know," Hanji continued over the noise. "It seems like a stupid idea, but bear with us. The government right now is on max alert. They're probably looking for us at every moment possible, and they will make it impossible for us to sneak past the walls."

"So we plan to have him transform outside Stohess district and open the gate to let us in. Chaos will take hold and everyone will rush to escape into wall Sina. We will be in the crowd and will split up to avoid us all being captured, with luck most of us should make it through."

"Once inside wall Sina, Eren will exit his titan and will then let himself be taken captive. He will likely be taken to Rod Reiss and Eren will then kill the puppeteer to prevent him from stirring up any trouble in the future."

He glanced over at Historia who stood just across the room from him and standing next to Ymir and Mina.

Surprisingly she hadn't reacted at all when Hanji told them what they were going to do to her father. Instead, she kept her face nearly completely still, not letting a single emotion through.

"And to make sure that nothing goes wrong Levi and Eld will follow him, but hopefully they won't need to do anything."

"The rest of us will meet up inside Wall Sina and from there we will spread out and try to find allies. Pixie will at least hear us out, and I know Zackly has long since harbored grudges against the government."

"And once our allies are gathered we can put together a final plan, and hopefully without Rod Reiss to keep the nobles in check they might just crumble and fall apart. Now, what do you think of it?"

The room remained in complete silence, none of them able to say anything at the flawed plan.

I think even Hanji knows how unlikely this is, especially towards the end. No doubt Erwin has a plan to do something, but how can I tell them that without completely giving myself up.

Looks like this will end up being a bloody coup, and I don't even know if we can win. I suppose I need to have hope, but where can I find hope in a situation like this?

"This is insane," Ymir called out, a look of shock on her face. "This plan has so many flaws that it shouldn't even be called a plan, not to mention that most of it relies heavily upon luck and luck alone."

"Yes, it does rely a lot on luck, but I'm afraid that's all we got," Hanji admitted. "We don't have the strength to do anything on our own, so I'm sorry, but that's it."

From the looks of it, you're the only one who has hope, Hanji. But I suppose you were always like that. Able to find hope and joy even in the direst of circumstances.

"Relying on a dozen Scouts to take down the government isn't luck," Ymir snapped back. "That's just a fantasy. And we don't need that right now."

"Ymir, I understand why you think that, but we will have help. There are those in the Capital who will provide aid, supplies, and even men to the cause."

"If those people existed then they would have done something already. And if you think Pixis or Zackly are going to help us then you're mad. How do you think they got to the top? I can tell you it wasn't just through their skill."

"I think you're stepping out of line," Eld stated, cutting into the conversation. "You need to learn to respect senior officers, you haven't seen half the crap we've been through."

"I can tell you I have," Ymir replied angrily while staring down at the veteran. "But if it's a challenge then I think I'll win the award for the most shit seen in one lifetime."

"I doubt that," came the reply from Eld, who was still staring down the secret. shifter

"Both of you stop it," Levi cut in, "fighting amongst ourselves won't help anyone."

Both of them fell silent at his words, neither wishing to start an argument with the Captain.

The room fell into momentary silence, most of them were probably thinking about what an awful situation they were in, and even by his standards, they were in a dire situation.

"Well, if that's all, and you have no other questions, then you're all dismissed," Hanji said, breaking the silence which had befallen them.

All the scouts in the room quickly started walking out, no doubt a thousand things on their minds. But he didn't leave.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Mikasa looking at him, also not leaving the room.

Soon enough there were only four of them left in the room, with Eld the last one to leave, closing the door behind him as he did so.

Now the only people left in the room were Mikasa, Levi, Hanji, and himself. They all stood in silence with three pairs of eyes locked onto him.

"I know about what you were talking about last night," he finally told them, gaining some enjoyment from Hanji and Mikasa's shock.

"I thought I heard something last night when we were talking. But I wasn't sure," Levi replied, he was the only one of the three who seemed to be unaffected by what he'd told them.

"Well the sounds you heard were me, and I heard everything, even after she left," he replied emotionlessly, not using Mikasa's name.

Mikasa could only look at the ground while he and Levi spoke, guilt obviously weighing her conscience down.

"So then, if you heard everything you must know what we want to do with you?" Levi asked, unsurprised by his answer.

"Yes I do," he responded simply. "But since she doesn't know, why don't you tell her."

Neither of them broke eye contact as they spoke, with Levi most likely trying to read him through his expressions.

He shouldn't bother trying to do that. I've lived through two lifetimes of him doing stuff like this, and it's been years since he could last read me. Though he doesn't know that.

"We were going to trap him in a similar prison to Bertholdt," Levi stated, dragging him from his thoughts. "Then we were going to pass on his power to one of our own, preferably Erwin, or another high-ranking trusted Scout."

Mikasa stared at the two of them in disbelief, obviously feeling betrayed by those who she had confided in.

Divide and conquer, a simple but efficient method. And it is working like gold here.

"I thought we were just going to trap him," Mikasa exclaimed in disbelief. "I didn't realise that we were going to kill him."

"Mikasa you have to understand," Hanji replied, trying to reason with her. "Eren is simply too dangerous to be left alive at this point, and since we can pass on his power we need to think about it anyway. Also either way we weren't going to kill him immediately either. He holds valuable information. We could lose all of it if we killed him."

"So that's the only reason he's alive?" Mikasa responded angrily, still defending him even after her betrayal. "The only reason Eren is alive is that he has valuable information."

"We don't have any Titan serums either, meaning we can't pass his power on," Levi said, still staring him down.

"Levi, you aren't helping," Hanji scolded Levi, who barely responded to her opposition to his words.

"I'm not trying to help her get over anything. I'm merely telling her what she wants to know. They are family after all."

"Anyway," Hanji continued, not bothering to reply to Levi. "Mikasa, though you may have known Eren from childhood to us he is a danger. And if he cooperated then that would be the end of that. But as you've told us, and as from our findings, he is hiding things, and faking even more."

Look at them tear each other apart. And it only took a little more than a sentence to turn them against each other and have them start savaging each other.

"But we don't know if he is against us!" Mikasa yelled at the two veterans. "We only have theories."

Why is she still defending me? She betrayed me last night and yet even now she stands up for me. I suppose her obsessive love makes her do strange things.

"And these theories have too much evidence not to be true," Hanji snapped back, beginning to lose her temper.

"Both of you stop," Levi cut in. "That conversation isn't going anywhere, and either way it isn't for us to decide."

"You three may think I'm a threat to the people of the walls. But I'm not. And I will prove this with the plan. I will kill Rod Reiss, and will help put another on the throne."

"Well we'll just have to wait and see. And I do not doubt that who we put on the throne will influence your 'helping."

Oh, Levi. I have no doubts about who will be on the throne when this is over. But will you?

Historia/Christa POV

'

She swiftly walked through the halls of the busy hideout, ignoring all other distractions and heading towards Eren's room.

As she neared Eren's door a thousand thoughts shot through her mind, but out of all of them, one was the most important.

Why was she doing this?

But before she could answer that question she arrived at Eren's room. Not bothering to knock she barged into the room, surprising Eren, who turned to look at her with shock on his face.

"Eren you can't be serious," she said. "You could die if you go through with the plan."

"I'll be fine," he replied calmly, trying to reassure her. "I didn't die to Titans and I didn't die to that squad who attacked us. So there is no way I'm going to die to some lord from up north."

"Eren, you might find this funny. But we care about you. We don't want you to get hurt... I don't want you to get hurt," she confessed, blushing slightly at her words.

For the love of the walls, why did I say that?

Eren's face softened at her words, seemingly touched by her words.

"Look Christa-," Eren started, but she cut him off swiftly.

"Eren you know my name, my real name. How you know it is beyond me, and I know you won't tell me. But when we're in private you can call me Historia."

His eyes widened slightly at her statement, but his shock was quickly replaced by a small smile.

"Alright, Historia," he started, emphasising her name as he spoke. "You don't need to worry, I will be fine. I'll have a small amount of backup with me when I go, and even then they don't have anyone that can beat me."

"That's what I'm worried about," she exclaimed. "You're going to get overconfident and then you could... you could die! I've already lost enough people. I don't want to lose you too."

Eren stood in silence at her words, guilt written upon his face.

Why does he look so guilty, has something like this happened before?

"You won't lose me," he said suddenly. "I'll make it out of there alive, I promise."

"Well, you better keep that promise. Or I swear on the walls I will kill you again," she replied, trying to lighten the conversation.

He let out a small laugh and let a complete smile form across his face.

This is the first time I've ever seen him smile like that. And seeing him smile like that... Well, it's an improvement over his usual unemotional face.

"Anyway, stop worrying about me. You have more important stuff to worry about."

"What do you mean?" She asked, not thinking through what he had just said.

"Rod Reiss is your father, remember," Eren reminded her.

"Oh, of course," she replied, slowly.

How could I forget something like that? But why is he bringing it up?

"That means you are the heir to the throne. And you will be queen once this is all over," Eren told her.

"Well it isn't assured," she replied, trying to convince herself more than Eren. "Only we know about it, so we can just never talk about it."

Eren shook his head and walked over to the window. He stared into the night as he stood by it, obviously deep in thought.

"Even if we don't mention it, they will still find out. Some of the nobles will know about his affair, and they will know about you too," Eren explained. "I know you don't want it, but sometimes we have to do things that we don't want to do."

She didn't reply, still trying to wrap her head around her heritage.

"But I guess we'll just have to see where this goes," Eren said while turning back around to face her.

"Yeah, I suppose we will."
