Eren POV
The walls of Yarckel district stood tall and strong before them.
They stood to the east of the island within wall Rose, and within was housed by thousands upon thousands of people.
Even now he still looked at the walls with a sense of amazement, even though he knew how and why the walls made the walls still gave off a sense of glory and mystery.
Most people on the island looked at them with a sense of amazement and wonder, a feat of engineering which could never be recreated, and the greatest wonder in all the known world.
Of course, most people within the walls knew little of what lay beyond their walls, but they were correct in their thoughts. The walls were indeed one of, if not the greatest piece of architecture ever to be made.
They held 723,822 km of land within them and they held one of the most valuable resources in the world, Iceburst stone. They held over a million people within as well, and each of them had an ability that waited to be activated.
Even outside Paradis, the walls were seen with a sense of greatness and wonder. But most people outside the walls saw them for what they truly were.
A monstrosity of creation, created by the king of the devils. And within those walls were monsters, fifty meters tall and made to flatten the world before them.
But for now, they lay dormant, waiting for their call. The call of the Founding Titan.
"Eren, are you ready?" a voice said suddenly, pulling him from his thoughts and back to reality.
Around him stood one and half dozen Scouts, all of them ready to do the suicidal and bloody task which awaited them.
They would have to charge through the gates of the district and the crowds of hundreds of civilians who would be fleeing as he entered.
They could be trampled to death as they entered, but it was a risk they had to take to get into the capital and restore the rightful ruler to the throne.
"I'm ready, are you?" He replied before looking around the small crowd, making sure to take in one last glimpse of their faces before they went in.
Nearly all the Scouts were there except for the wounded and two other Scouts, who had remained behind to look after the wounded.
They would be splitting up into three teams, with Levi, Eld and Historia staying behind to follow him once he was captured, and the rest were going to try and get inside wall Sina, where they would then regroup and try and find allies.
It was an insane plan, but it was the best they had given the situation they were in.
"Alright, you all should get back to the horses, I don't want to hurt any of you while transforming," he told the Scouts that surrounded him.
All of them did as he asked, but as they left he saw their faces. Nearly all of them were filled with fear and dread, though some were managing to keep their cool.
Now alone he was able to transform into his Titan. And using a small knife he cut himself on the palm of his hand, which quickly covered his hand in his blood.
He was once again engulfed in a familiar golden glow with the sound of lightning booming in his ear as he was pulled inside his fifteen-meter tall titan.
Steam shot out of his body as it formed up around him surrounding and blinding him temporarily.
After a moment he emerged from the smoke and steam, his eyes blazing green as he stood to his full height.
He looked to the wall as the steam dissipated around him, and even from here, he could see several garrison soldiers atop the wall.
Though he couldn't make out their expressions he could imagine what they were thinking.
'Is that a fucking titan?'
Or something along the lines of that.
Well, time to get this over with.
He bent over slightly and laid his eyes on his target. The gates of the district.
He charged forward suddenly, kicking up dirt into the air as he swiftly ran forward and towards the wall, the garrison soldiers atop it barely able to think as he ran forward.
Behind him, the rest of the Scouts were likely also moving forward, though it was doubtful that they were able to keep up within his speed.
The ground beneath him shook and rumbled as he ran, each step sounding like a canon and likely terrifying the people inside the walls who had no idea what was about to happen.
As he neared the gate he heard cannon fire, though where it landed was far away from him.
These soldiers have never seen a Titan in their lives, I doubt if they even know how to use a canon properly. Those soldiers in Trost could have fired a dozen more shots than them by now.
He came closer and closer to the gate with another two shots from canons being fired by the soldiers above, but both of them missed him by quite a lot.
It's more likely that they're going to hit the Scouts behind me while trying to shoot me.
He hardened his fists as he came ever closer to the gate, the shouts of the soldiers above becoming ever louder as he neared the wall. As he reached it he stopped running suddenly and raised his hand to his head and swung it as hard as he could against the stone gate, skidding forward as he raised his fist.
His fist smashed into the stone gate, breaking it apart on impact and sending pieces of stone and rock flying everywhere.
He raised his other hardened fist and slammed it against the gate, once again breaking it apart and sending chunks of rock to the ground.
He did so again and again, chunks of rock and stone falling off the gate and crumbling against the ground.
The screams and shouts from within the district were clearer than ever. The fear which emanated from them was almost nauseating.
I haven't heard those kinds of screams since… No, don't think about it. What is done is done, all I can do is keep on moving forward now.
He finally smashed through the first gate completely, but the second gate remained, though it was damaged from the stones from the now broken gate.
A canon shot once again went off, and almost immediately after he felt it strike him in the shoulder, shattering his Titan's bones and sending steam and blood everywhere.
Dammit, I should have been more careful. If that had hit my nape then I would have been done for, an entire lifetime just to die by a crappy cannon.
He quickly moved inside the gate, and now hidden from the cannons and the soldiers atop the wall he let out a sigh of relief.
But he didn't stay still long.
Once again he raised his fist and rammed it against the secondary gate, nearly falling through it as he broke it.
This one is far weaker than the other. But why it is weaker doesn't matter, it just makes this bit easier.
He slammed his other hand through the gate, this time making a hole large enough for him to look into.
He looked into the hole and into the district where thousands lay before him. Upon peering through it he saw people standing in the streets everywhere, all of them staring in horror and fear as he broke through their gate.
Raising both his fists he used all his strength to break through the wall in one final push. Just as he hoped the gate came crashing down, letting him wander into the district with nothing left in his path.
To all of you here. I am sorry.
He let out a sudden roar which shook every house and stone within the district, the roar shook the ground and threw everyone into a panic as they ran for their lives.
Their screams filled the air and the cries and please echoed in his ears as a thousand pairs of feet began running from him.
He began walking forward slowly, making sure to stamp into the ground with every step, causing, even more, fear and hysteria in the massive crowds which now fled before his march.
As he neared a house he smashed away the roof with a single hand, sending tiles and bricks into the air as the building's roof was entirely removed.
Behind him he heard the sounds of horses riding forth, so he stood still and let them all ride past, looking at each of comrades one last time.
I'm probably not going to see a lot of these people again, but their lives will help push the rest of us forward. Until all our enemies are destroyed.
As the last of the horses rode past him he continued his march forward, the ground shaking beneath him with every step.
As he looked ahead he saw the masses of people who were right now pushing against the closed gate in an attempt to escape what they thought was their deaths.
Some had even begun to climb up the walls to get away, but they fell back down relatively quickly, with the smooth walls nearly impossible to climb.
They haven't even opened the gates up for them, what type of monsters would leave their own people to die like this, clawing against their walls and gates desperately trying to escape their deaths.
As he neared the citizens they began screaming and shouting louder, among them were his allies, though he couldn't see exactly where they were he knew he had to be careful.
The crowd parted for him as he continued to walk to the gate, making sure to not step on anyone and putting as little weight onto every step.
As the crowd fully moved away he saw the bodies which were laid lifeless on the streets. They had been trampled to death in the crowd, and every one of them died because of him.
These people are dead because of me, just more names to add to my endless list of people who died because of me. But I'll never know their names. They'll just be like those I killed beyond the walls. Nameless and faceless.
But at least these people weren't monsters, they didn't want to exterminate an entire race, they just wanted to live in peace.
He finally reached the inner gate, the gate leading into wall Sina where their plan could finally begin.
He let out another earth-shattering roar before raising his hardened fist and slamming it through the wall with all his might.
The first gate nearly crumbled when he punched it, his hardened fist going completely through it and into the small gatehouse.
He removed his arm from the hole in the gate and quickly did the same again, this time with his other arm.
This gap was smaller than the first, but the strike did what he wanted it to do. It broke off the top of the gate, which quickly fell apart and crumbled around his Titan's feet.
Now with only the bottom part of the gate remaining, he was able to kick it apart with ease, the final pieces of the broken and damaged gate crashing to the ground.
He was once again faced with the secondary wall, but this time, instead of smashing against it countless times he decided to take a note of Reiner's book.
He charged at the gate suddenly and as fast as he could, raising his shoulder and preparing for the impact of crashing into a wall.
He smashed into the gate at full speed, sending bricks and other chunks of the gate flying up into the air as he broke through the stone gate.
He raised his head slowly, and now before him were the lands of wall Sina, where the vast and open fields stretched out before him, bringing back memories from long ago.
Armin, Mikasa and he used to play in the great and seemingly endless fields of Maria, where as long as you kept on following the walls you would get back home.
The days before the fall of Shiganshina and Maria. The days before everything changed. Before there were titan-shifters hidden in our ranks. Before we knew of the outside world. The days when we were all innocent and knew little to nothing of what lay beyond the walls of Shiganshina.
But those days are over now. The days of innocence and mystery. But all good things must come to an end, I suppose
He once again started running forward, but this time he had a different target in mind.
Mitras, the fortress for the king of the walls.
.
And so the Scout's plan for taking down the government starts, looks like we're finally back in the action.
Anyway, if you could leave a review then that would be great. Seeing your reviews pushes me to write more, but if you don't want to then it's fine. And as always the next chapter will be out next week on Sunday as usual.
