Mikasa POV
She stared out across the fields of Sina, looking for any glimpse of the Scouts that they had sent out some time ago.
She stood about halfway up a rocky hill that they had chosen to be their place of meeting. They had arrived there easy enough but for safety purposes, and for the last hour she had been posted on lookout duty, which wasn't the most exciting task.
"Mikasa," the voice of Hanji called out from below her. "Come down! We're going over the plan. Also, your watch is over."
"I'll be down in a minute," she replied before letting out a long sigh of relief.
She took a long look into the fields once again, searching for any movement. But she found none. And with night setting in it was unlikely that anyone would find them now
She let out another sigh before carefully making her way down the rocky hill, not wanting to injure herself upon its sharp stones.
As she made it to the bottom the smell of soup filled her nostrils, nearly instantaneously making her feel hungry.
It doesn't even smell half bad either, that's a relief.
She walked past the crackling fire and towards the largest group of Scouts, who were all huddled around a large map of Wall Sina.
"So," she started, catching the attention of all the Scouts in the group. "What is the plan?"
"Milieus, you tell her," said Hanji, letting Milieus take the lead.
"Yes squad leader," he replied before walking over to the map which lay on the ground and was pinned down at the corners by rocks.
She followed him and crouched down next to him as he began explaining the plan to her and the others who were nearby.
"See here," he said, pointing to a point on the map where a rough black dot had been drawn. "This is where we think Pixis's mansion is, or one of them. If what we found is true then this was gifted to him a couple of years ago by a noble who no longer wanted it."
"He may own it, but that doesn't mean he will live there," she replied quickly.
"But Pixis was recalled to the capital, remember," he told her while removing his finger from the map. "But the trial was still a couple of days away when the attack happened, so it's unlikely he could have been in the capital at the time. And because of the attack he probably didn't want to go Mitras in case he too was convicted."
"Oh, of course," she replied, slightly irritated that she hadn't realised that as well.
"So if we send out a couple of Scouts out there then we might be able to get an audience with him. And if the walls allow it then we might just gain an ally from him."
"But what if decides to betray us?" She asked, still uncertain about the plan.
"Well," Miliues said while looking her in the eyes. "It's a risk we have to take. But the rest of us won't be sitting around idly either. What we plan to do is send a small team into Mitras itself, and from there they will speak to Zackly who will hopefully not turn them over."
"So we're relying on luck for this plan to succeed?" She stated.
"Most plans are built on luck," Hanji cut in. "This plan just relies more on luck than most plans."
"We'll be riding out at sunrise, so be ready," Milieus said while standing up.
"Because you'll be leading the team into Mitras."
Eren POV
He was finally beginning to feel tired.
He had started running a couple of hours after midday the day before, and now the sun had risen and he could almost feel the city as he came closer.
Ever since he had broken through the gate and ran across the vast fields of wall Sina he had met no resistance, but that was hardly surprising. He would hardly be surprised if they had abandoned the city to escape him.
It looks like the plan is working out just as I hoped. I'm still alive and the rest of the Scouts will be able to get through the wall with ease.
And no doubt I've drawn most of the attention to myself, which will allow them to sneak through undetected. And the king and his nobles never be the wiser.
He was ripped from his thoughts by his sudden realisation that he had arrived at the capital.
That was faster than expected, but I suppose I got carried away while thinking.
He stopped running suddenly and began walking at a slow but steady pace, his eyes darting around and catching glimpses of soldiers trying to sneakily move around.
He continued walking through the streets of the city, walking directly towards the largest and grandest of all the buildings in the city.
He ignored everything else around him as he walked further forward, the soldiers and civilians both like ants scuttling around as he shook their houses.
A sudden gunshot went off beside him, and without a second thought, he shot his fist out sideways and struck the building with all the speed he could muster.
His fist destroyed the building which the soldiers had shot at him from, though what the building used to be was beyond him. Now the top of it was destroyed and had a large gaping hole on it.
He removed his fist from the building slowly and then continued walking forward, the shock of seeing him destroying the building no doubt sending the rest of the soldiers into a panic.
As he came ever closer to the building no other soldiers dared to shoot him, but they all kept nearby as if they were waiting for him to do something.
As he arrived at the gate to the palace of the king several things caught his attention.
Two shallow trenches had been dug out five meters in front of the gate, each far apart from each other and leaving a large gap in the centre. In front of them were piles of sandbags. Behind them sat god knows how many soldiers, but they would be easy enough to take out.
In between these trenches was a barricade, which went as far back as the gate and rose about eight meters from the ground. It was made from an assortment of items with a large thick plank stretching across the stop, giving a platform to the soldiers who stood on it.
Impressive. Especially given the lack of time they had to build it I'm surprised they even got this done.
Atop the barricade was Kenny and what seemed to be most of his remaining squad, all of them having their shotguns aimed at him.
And below them sat more than two dozen soldiers, who were sat inside the barricade and in their shallow trenches. Some simply lay on the ground, while others stood while stared death in the face.
Why even have them out here? Surely they know that they can't hope to do anything with those weapons?
As he looked across all their faces he saw they all had one thing in common.
Fear.
Even those in Kenny's squad were stricken with it, some even shaking with it as they stared him down.
Kenny himself, however, showed no fear, or he hid it spectacularly well. What he was showing was uncertainty, and what seemed to be confusion.
He stared them down for a minute longer as he continued to analyse the situation before him, and the soldiers who were defending their king were too afraid to even run.
I won't kill all of them, just enough to weaken them, but not enough that the nobles will call for immediate reinforcements. But how many will that be? How many will be crushed before me so that I can win?
A sudden shot went off in the air, bringing him from his thoughts and back to reality.
One of the soldiers finally had gained the courage to fire at him, or they accidentally shot him. Either way, they had begun this battle, intentionally or not.
In retaliation, he let out a sudden and terrifying roar, which struck fear into their hearts and almost caused them to break and flee.
"FIRE YOU FOOLS!" Kenny's unmistakable voice called out, catching the attention of everyone there and finally kicking the soldiers back into action.
Upon his command dozens upon dozens of guns started blasting at him, their tiny bullets striking harmlessly into his skin.
Even the shotguns which were fired by Kenny's squad were useless against his massive body, which was able to heal before they reloaded fired again.
Truly pathetic. Instead of even trying to flee the nobles believe that their soldiers can bring down a Titan with muskets and rifles that are out of date.
He suddenly struck forward at the soldiers in the first trench, striking down on it with his fist and ripping it apart. Killing everyone who lay near it within an instant.
The soldiers continued firing, even as they watched their comrades be slaughtered within a second.
They have courage, I'll them that. Not many could stay and fight even after watching their comrades be crushed by a Titan.
He once again bolted forward suddenly, this time simply back-handing the shallow trench away and all who stood near it.
Now the soldiers were beginning to waver, even he could see that. Some had just ducked down and were refusing to fight, though they did not dare run.
He once again stood straight up, extending his body to its full fifteen meters. Towering above the barricade Kenny had an amusing face of realisation and fear as he realised what was to come.
"GET OUT THE WAY!" Kenny shouted at the top of his lungs, before shooting away.
Several more joined him, though the soldiers below could only scream out in fear as he raised his fists high up into the air.
He slammed them down as fast and as hard as he could, destroying and ripping apart the barricade which couldn't hold against his strike.
The barricade crumbled and shattered under the weight of his fists, sending chunks of wood and large splinters flying into the air.
The soldiers who lay within the barricade were crushed within in an instant, giving them a short but terrifying death.
He stayed squatting over the ruin of a barricade for a moment longer, his fists still covered in the rubble of the defence which they had spent so much energy on.
I almost feel sorry for them. How are they meant to fight against me with their trenches and rifles? With their barricades and muskets. What could they hope to do against an unstoppable force?
He glanced up at the roof and saw just under a dozen soldiers remaining, all from Kenny's squad and all pointing their weapons at him.
I suppose it's time to end this.
He emerged from his titan slowly, blasting as much steam as possible to hide from the soldiers who were shouting and screaming as his Titan slouched over lifelessly.
Sliding down his Titan's back he slammed into the concrete ground, still hidden from the enemy
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Kenny called out from the rooftop, both his guns raised and aiming at him.
He looked Kenny in the eyes with his hands raised and unflinchingly replied.
"I'm surrendering."
I'm sorry to say but there might not be a chapter next week. I'll have to wait and see if I have the time to write it out but due to upcoming exams, I have to prioritise them over the fic
But I will be putting out an update either way, but it may just be a notice instead of a chapter.
