Happy Thanksgiving y'all! Hope you have a great day with your families!
"Are you sure we're going in the right direction?" Brooklynn asks nervously as the group walks along.
"Yeah," Darius nods.
"How far back is the Ceratosaurus?" Brooklynn asks.
"Pretty far back," Darius says. "We've been walking all day."
"How fast can they run?" the girl brushes back wisps of pink hair.
"About 30 miles per hour," Darius answers.
"If Sarah decided to turn around and follow us, what would we do to escape her?" Brooklynn asks.
"Try to climb a tree," Darius sighs, stressfully. "We wouldn't be able to outrun her."
"Would that work?" Brooklynn asks, kicking a stone. "Wouldn't she just eat us right out of the tree?"
Darius's chest constricts with stress and worry and his hands feel clammy.
"Oh my God, Brooklynn, you asked him and he answered! Would you just shut up, already?!" Yaz snaps.
"Sorry," Brooklynn hisses and sighs. "I talk when I'm nervous."
"Same," Sammy whispers.
"Chances are if Sarah were to chase us, we'd be dead," Yasmina unhelpfully points out.
"Let's think positively," Sammy says. "What happened to 'we will survive?'"
"Died with Ben," the injured athlete says bitterly. "We survived crazy odds the first day, and that gave us a sense of hope, a false sense of security. Ben's death reminded us that we could die. That people were dying. We don't live in some happy, mushy, fairy tale show. Face it, the odds are against us leaving this island the longer we're here."
"So what you're saying is that we give up?" Darius asks.
"No, I'm saying we stop fooling ourselves," Yasmina says. "We hope for the best, and plan for the worst. We try our best to keep each other alive, but don't expect for a second that all of us are making it out of here alive. Or that any of us will make it out alive."
The group is solemnly silent, staying close together as darkness falls. As Kenji bumbles along, panting from the effort of carrying his friend the entire day, Sammy says: "Maybe we should stop for a break."
"Good idea," Darius says, noticing the alpha male's exhaustion, too. "We're all tired from walking all day," he adds, knowing Kenji would never admit to "weakness."
"Put me down, my legs are asleep," Yasmina says. Kenji lets her off his back and he flops down on the grass.
"Great spot to rest, Kenji," Darius smiles half-heartedly. "You can stay here with Yaz, while the rest of us search for food together."
"I'll go!" Kenji says, getting back up again.
"Do you think you're a chihuahua or something?" Yasmina frowns. "You're just as tired as us, if not more tired."
"I just got my second wind," Kenji insists forcefully.
"We need someone to stay with Yaz and elevate her ankle," Darius sighs.
"I can stay behind if Kenji wants to go," Sammy says.
"Great! Let's get moving people," Kenji says, immediately moving out into the jungle.
"Must this idiot insist on being grumpy and tired one minute and springy and energetic the next?" Yasmina quirks an eyebrow.
"He hasn't been himself since Ben's…" Sammy says, sitting next to her to examine Yasmina's ankle. "But none of us have been the same since then. Give him a break. You're more pessimistic than usual."
"That's possible?" Darius jokingly asks as he and Brooklynn follow Kenji.
"Let's find a source of water," Brooklynn says as they walk. "We really need to get hydrated."
"What about food?" Kenji asks.
"There's multiple berries and plants we can eat," Brooklynn says. "If need be, we might be able to try to eat some animal meat. Would dinosaurs be edible?"
"Probably," Darius shrugs. "We'd just have to kill them and cook them first."
After searching around for a bit, the three find a stream. They drink thirstily. "I know it's not sanitary, but what choice do we have?" the pink-haired girl says as they drink.
After drinking, the kids get up from the ground and look around. "We need a way to carry the water back to our makeshift base," Brooklynn says, backing up. She trips over something and falls into a bush, then screams.
"Brooklynn!" Darius and Kenji exclaim at the same time, rushing to her aid.
"I'm fine!" she says, scrambling to get out of the bushes. "I just…"
The two boys look in the bushes to see a rotting corpse staring back. They back up in disgust. They cover their noses at the stench while Brooklynn fights against throwing up. "How did we not notice this before?" Darius asks.
"I think we were too focused on finding water," Brooklynn says.
Kenji takes a deep breath and holds it as he prods the corpse. "What are you doing?" Darius gags. Kenji doesn't say anything as he takes the man's pack off. "Let's see if we can salvage anything," he gags and opens the pack. The group finds thin pieces of rope, a flashlight with extra batteries, five energy bars, half a gallon of water, another first aid kit, a whistle, duct tape, and a compass. "Jackpot, bruh," Kenji says. "I dunno what happened to you, man, but you can rest in peace knowing that you helped five stranded teens."
"I wonder what happened to him," Brooklynn says sadly.
"Looks like a Compsognathus attack to me," Darius says. "But he's been here a while."
"Let's get back to Yaz and Sammy," Brooklynn says. "My legs are really tired."
The three scavengers arrive back at their makeshift base to show the girls what they found. The group eats the five energy bars while Sammy and Yasmina take a drink. After that, Kenji solemnly pulls out the map from Ben's "dork pouch" and he and Darius try to find themselves on the map. The five campers take their time to rest from walking all day long with no food or water.
As they try to fall asleep for that night, a roar pierces the silence. Every teen sits up quickly. "What was that?" Brooklynn whimpers.
"Something big and meat-eating," Darius sighs shakily.
"Too close," Yasmina hisses. "That sounded way too close."
As they listened carefully, they could hear thumping footsteps. The teens couldn't tell if it was their imagination, or if the dinosaur was coming closer. "We're not taking chances on this one," Darius decides. "Get up, get up!"
Darius slings the pack of water, food, and supplies over his shoulder while Kenji tries to convince Yasmina to ride on his back. "Yasmina, you are not running on your leg!" Kenji insists. "You wouldn't be able to keep up!"
"You carried me all day; you can barely stand!" Yasmina retorts.
"I'll carry you," Sammy hisses, getting down on one knee. "Swallow your pride already and get on!"
"It's not my pride that I've got a problem with this time," Yasmina hisses as Sammy hoists her onto her back.
"Come on, move, move, move!" Darius urges. The group finds the strength to quietly run away in the opposite direction. They walk, rest a bit, and listen for the dinosaur. But every time they thought they were safe, they would hear the monster and have to move again.
After a couple rest periods, the group hears rushing water and comes up a huge river. "Wait a second," Kenji frowns, and pulls out the map. "This is the Cretaceous Cruise river," he mumbles. "If we head west, we'll find the park and my Father's condos."
"West?" Sammy asks. "Isn't that where the big dino is?"
"She's southwest," Darius says. "If we can follow the river northwards, we might be able to miss her and head for the condos."
Unfortunately, as the night passed and the day wore on, the mystery dinosaur pushed them farther north. By the end of the day, they had reached a grassy clearing. In the distance, they could see the park. The exhausted teens were overjoyed, until the mystery dinosaur revealed itself to be a Giganotosaurus. The huge carnivore stomps out of the woods between the campers and the condos.
"Our only chance is to try to reach those trees before she sees us," Darius says, pointing the the clump of trees located in front of a hill.
"So we're going to try to outrun Gigi?" Kenji asks, panting.
"How fast can they run?" Brooklynn asks panickedly.
"Too fast," Darius sighs. "We're crawling across the ground in hopes that she won't be able to see us in the dark and the tall grass. Yaz, you can crawl, but if she sees us, you're riding on whoever takes you."
The athlete nods. The teens get down low on the grass and army crawl across the plains. Their hearts beat fast and every second feels like an hour as they slowly move across the grass undetected. Dragging their tired, aching bodies across the plain, the teens thought they might make it across without trouble. To their horror, Gigi the Giganotosaurus stares at them, then roars and charges after them.
"Run!" Darius shouts, and the teens bolt. Yasmina scrambles to get up in what seems to be the opposite direction. Kenji grabs her, slings her over his shoulders and fireman carries her across the rest of the way.
The campers race the Giganotosaurus in a terrifying run for cover. Darius doesn't need to point out the small ditch covered by a large rock and trees. As the dinosaur roars, the teens slide into the ditch one by one. Kenji and Yasmina are the last to arrive. Kenji roughly throws her off his shoulders and he and Darius pull her into the ditch before she can react. The Giganotosaurus's jaws snap shut around what would have been her torso had they been a second too late.
The dinosaur roars and tries to headbutt the rock. It shakes, but it doesn't budge. The campers—who were holding on to each other tightly—sigh with relief. "I don't think it can break through," Darius says.
The monster roars, scaring the campers. "But it's not going away anytime soon," Darius adds.
"Good morning, Bumpy!" Ben says cheerfully, stretching his arms before checking his wounds again. "It's been five days since I got stuck on this island, I think…"
Bumpy snorts.
Ben looks her up and down. She was now his height, if he were to stand up.
The injured boy leans back and thinks. He had been living semi-comfortably right near the stream. Bumpy had snapped off a long, thin stick that he fashioned into a spear to use against the Compies. Eventually, the little dinosaurs had learned to stay away from him. By then, he had filled up on Compsognathus meat. Though he wasn't a fan of meat due to animal cruelty, he had begun to enjoy the little dinosaurs. Their meat was quite filling as well.
He sighs. Ben knows he needs to move. The longer he stayed, the higher the risk of being found by a large predator who he couldn't fend off with his spear. And Bumpy was far too vulnerable without a herd. She was still too small to be a big threat even without a herd. Should a predator attack, Ben wouldn't be able to run away; his tailbone was still painful, though it had gotten better. As for his gashes, well, he didn't want to risk tearing them even more.
"All right, girl, I think it's time we head for Kenji's condos," Ben says. He pushes himself onto his knees with his left arm and stands up. It didn't hurt to walk or move, just to sit up. He looks at Bumpy, who blinks back at him. "This is going to be difficult," he mumbles.
He tries to get her to lay down so that it was easier to mount her, but she runs in circles. "Come on, girl, work with me!"
Bumpy refuses to listen. "Oh my Lord, help me," Ben sighs, facepalming.
Finally, after about five minutes of chasing around his Ankylosaurus companion, Bumpy lays down to rest. Ben carefully climbs on top of her and lays down to avoid pain. "Oh, great, now you wanna sleep," he sputters. He sighs, and lays his face down on her rough back, deciding to wait until she'd move.
Night passes second by second for the campers as the shiver in fear. Gigi—as Kenji named her—continued to puppy guard the entrance to the ditch. She scratched at the entrance and tried to bite them, but couldn't reach them. Even so, the campers whimpered each time she tried.
After a break, Darius dared to talk. "Yaz, were you trying to run in the other direction?"
She was silent for a few seconds until Gigi roared. "Maybe," she flinches.
"Why?" Sammy asks.
"I can barely walk without you guys trying to carry me," Yasmina hisses. "Everytime a dino comes, I'm a burden you have to deal with. And there's no way I'm going to heal up anytime soon. I'm slowing you guys down."
"So you were going to, what?" Kenji snaps. "Sacrifice yourself for us?"
"I'd be fine with that," Yasmina mumbles.
"Nuh, uh!" Kenji exclaims. "No sacrifice in this group!"
"Surviving with an injury and being unable to walk is impossible!" Yasmina hisses. "If there's no chance that I'm surviving, I'd rather give my life to help you guys live!"
"No!" Sammy says firmly.
"I don't want to live knowing I could've done something to protect my friends," the athlete spits.
"And you don't think we feel the same way?" Darius asks. "No sacrificing ourselves. Not just yet."
The group yelps as Gigi tries yet again to eat them.
By day break, there was another roar. The campers lift their heads from their little huddle. Gigi roars and leaves them alone. By the sounds, they could tell there was another huge dinosaur. Shaking, Darius takes a chance and peeks out. Kenji follows suit, and the girls join in. "That's Mapa, Mapa!" Kenji exclaims. "Idk the real name, too long to remember. It's one of the ones considered too agro for public display. Toro was one of them, Gigi was one of them, Mapa, too."
"That's a Mapusaurus," Darius explains. "Kenji, what other dinosaurs were considered too agro?"
"Uhhh…" Kenji thinks. "Utah-something, Carcha-do-do-something, Marijuana… I think there was a Spinosaurus possibly…"
Darius sighs stressfully. Yazmina, on the other hand, was trying not to laugh. "Marijuana?!"
"Utahraptor, Carcharodontosaurus, and Majungasaurus," Darius translates. "All four of those are huge, meat-eating dinosaurs we don't want to run into."
"What are we going to do?" Sammy asks.
"We head up the hill and try to get to the park," Darius says. "Those two are distracted by each other. If we can get to the park before they're done, we'll have more hiding spots."
The group leaves the ditch and runs up the hill as best they can. Kenji insists on carrying Yasmina, and the entire group has to forcefully insist as well. Once they feel that they have enough distance between the carnivores, they begin to cross over from the edge of the steep cliff to the park. A third roar stops them in their tracks.
"Can this day get any worse?" Brooklynn groans.
"Don't you dare jinx us!" Kenji snaps.
"What was that?" Sammy asks.
"Toro, definitely," Darius says. "No doubt about it."
"That came from the park," Yasmina points out.
"Great, ya jinxed us!" Kenji sighs.
"Y'all, the fights beginning to break up," Sammy whimpers. Indeed, Gigi and Mapa were slowing down.
"Darius, you got any ideas?" Brooklynn asks.
"Uhh…" the young camper's throat tightens. "That line of trees, we can hide in there."
"You sure?" Brooklynn asks.
"You gotta better idea?!" he asks as Toro roars from the park.
"Let's move! Time is life!" Kenji says.
The campers run towards the small forest. As their tired legs bring them close to their refuge, they hear a roar behind them. "It's Mapa!" Yasmina says urgently.
"Almost there!" Darius shouts encouragingly.
They reach the trees. "Climb! Climb! Climb!" Darius urges. The campers tap into strength they didn't realize they had and climbed the first tree they got to. Yasmina climbs as fast as she can, locks her knees around a sturdy branch, and reaches out her hand for whoever was coming up behind her. Brooklynn grabs her hand and the athlete uses her strength to pull the pink-haired girl onto the branch. She helps the others as best she can.
The campers try to climb high enough to avoid the Mapusaurus, but she arrives at the treeline before they're twenty feet off the ground. The kids brace themselves for an attack, but the dinosaur tiredly falls over under their tree. "Guess Mapa met her match," Darius says as Yasmina pulls him up onto the sturdy branch.
"Abs, girl!" Sammy chuckles.
"What? I haven't been running the past… three days?" Yasmina huffs.
"Four," Brooklynn counts. "Well, actually if we count the day of the disaster, we haven't had a break from walking and escaping for five days."
"I don't know about y'all, but my body aches from moving around so much," Sammy groans. "I'm so tired."
"We all are," Darius sighs. "This tree's as good a place as any, since we can't leave it now." He takes off the pack and the group drinks the rest of the water. They needed it, due to running around for two days straight.
"We really need to get more hydrated," Yasmina says.
"I'm feeling dizzy," Brooklynn says, spacing out. Darius grabs her arm in case she fell off the branch.
The rest of the day, the group hangs out in the tree, too afraid of Mapa. As injured as she was, she could still bite and injure them. So they sat in the tree and waited for her to leave. Finally, by nightfall, she got up and limped away. The campers climb down and set up camp near a small stream. They drink their fill, thankful to have water again, and Brooklynn collects edible berries.
Most of the teens were happy and relaxed; thankful for a rest over the past three eventful days. Darius, on the other hand, was tense. Between emotions, lack of rest, dehydration, and hunger, they had become very irritable and prone to snapping at each other. Gigi and Mapa had kept them from fighting too much, but the young leader could sense that it was only a matter of time before they set each other off. Not too surprisingly to Darius, it was Sammy who accidentally set off the ticking bomb.
"Y'all, I think we should have a day of Thanksgiving," Sammy says.
"It's December," Brooklynn says.
"Why do we have to have one day for giving thanks?" the Texan asks. "We're all depressed and tired, and it would be good to remind ourselves what we should be thankful for and keep our spirits up."
"Great idea," Darius smiles. "I'm thankful for… friends. Friends that I'm going through this with, because I know I wouldn't survive—and I would certainly be depressed—without you guys. And I'm thankful for rest, too."
The group softly chuckles at the last part. "I'm thankful for life," Sammy says. "I'm thankful that I've survived another day. Another day that I might possibly be able to see my family again."
"Not all of us can be thankful for that," Yasmina says, darkly hinting at Ben's death.
"Yep, you're clearly dead inside," Kenji says sarcastically. He phrased it like a good-natured roast, but his tone revealed anger and sadness.
"Well, that's what happens when a friend dies," Yasmina keeps a cool tone as well, but she was bristling. "I'm not above showing grief."
"Well, forgive me," Kenji says, trying to keep his calm. "I have to stay strong for the rest of us, because you're clearly lacking that ability, mentally and physically."
Yasmina grits her teeth; her cool, sarcastic demeanor breaking. Kenji's remark had rubbed salt in a wound, and she was about to hit him below the belt. "If you're so strong then, why weren't you the one holding Ben's hand instead of Darius?"
"Oh, well, I didn't see you, Miss Tough-girl, helping out either!" Kenji shouts angrily.
Yasmina smacks him across the face hard. Growling, Kenji shoves her back hard and the two start punching and hitting each other.
"Guys, stop!" Sammy pleads.
"Enough!" Darius shouts, diving into the fight and trying to pull them apart. Yasmina yelps and Darius shoves Kenji off of her. "Kenji, move!" Darius orders. He points to the spot near Brooklynn where he used to be sitting. Kenji sullenly sits down and Darius sits in between Yasmina and Kenji.
"What happened?" Sammy asks, examining the injured girls ankle.
"Not sure," Yasmina winces in pain. Kenji looks down at the ground, ashamed.
Darius sighs as Sammy takes out the ice pack and elevates Yasmina's ankle. The athlete props herself up on one shoulder next to him. Trying to diffuse the situation and calm someone down, Darius finds a small twig, brushes the leaves in front of Yasmina away, and hands her the twig. "You wanna draw, Yaz?" he asks quietly.
She takes the twig and begins to draw. Darius places his hand on his shoulder and begins to gently stroke her upper arm, trying to calm her down. The campers sit in a tense silence, but within minutes, Yasmina was in her own world of art. She rests her head on Darius's knee, and the leader could feel her anger melting away. Feeling her calm down makes Darius relax as well. She was the main catalyst in the fight, and all he needed to do now was calm down Kenji.
The alpha male in question had crossed his arms sullenly. He was hyper focused on his fingers as he tapped them on his arm to some beat in his head. Darius could see him holding back tears.
"Are you okay, Kenji?" Brooklynn asks. Darius's breath hitches, hoping that wouldn't set him off again.
"Sure, why wouldn't I be?" Kenji shrugs.
"Ya seem distracted," Sammy says.
"Only by your eyes, gorgeous," Kenji winks, turning on his charm to distract them from his feelings.
Sammy giggles. "Gracias. Tus ojos también son majestuosos, mi amor. (Thank you. Your eyes are majestic as well, my love.)"
Kenji grins, even though he had no clue what she said. "Pero su cabello se ve mal," Brooklynn says flirtatiously. "(But his hair looks bad.)"
"Es un tonto," Sammy says in a flirting tone back. "(He's a goofball.)"
"Y el piensa que es un macho," Brooklynn says, playfully brushing back a wisp of hair. "(And he thinks he's a macho.)"
Kenji smoothes back his hair, grinning like an idiot after hearing the word "macho."
"Pero apesta," Brooklynn adds. "(But he stinks.)" Sammy and Brooklynn giggle and turn their faces away: Sammy to contain her giggles and Brooklynn to sound flirtatious. Kenji doesn't know the difference, and thinks they're fawning over him. He begins to flirt more with the two girls. They would respond in Spanish, but he didn't mind. He had no idea that Brooklynn was mostly talking smack about him. Sammy was giving positives about him, on the other hand.
Darius watched the three, bristling the more they flirted. "Why does this irritate me?" he wonders. "Why am I bothered by this?" Something about the situation irked him, but he couldn't put his finger on what exactly it was.
Yasmina looks up from her artwork to see Sammy and Brooklynn "flirting" with Kenji and "fawning" over him in Spanish and frowns. "What is…"
Darius can feel her tense up. "Oh, that's why I don't like this situation," Darius thinks. "Because Yaz gets irritated by Kenji's ego. Yay."
"I didn't know you could speak Spanish," Sammy says after "flirting" with Kenji for a while.
"I'm impressed you could actually understand me!" Brooklynn laughs. "I've taken classes for years, but I haven't practiced with anyone other than my teachers and classmates."
"Can anyone else speak another language?" Sammy asks.
"I know formal greetings in Japanese, and I've learned bits and pieces of Korean from my step-sister's K-dramas," Kenji shrugs.
"What about you guys?" Sammy asks.
"Nope," Darius shakes his head. Yasmina outright ignores Sammy, pretending to be immersed in her work.
"Who's your best friend at home?" Sammy asks.
The group takes a depressing amount time to think about that question. "Probably my brother, Brandon," Darius says.
'I'd say Jane," Brooklynn shrugs. "Except we kinda had a problem before I left for Camp Cretaceous. I think she was talking behind my back, so I said some bad things about her… I don't know where we stand."
"I don't really have a best friend at home," Kenji says.
"My sisters, probably," Sammy says. "I'm probably closest to Kaitlyn at school, but she has a different best friend… Yaz?"
Yasmina pulls her legs away from Sammy and tries to stand up. "I think I need alone time."
"All right, I'll come with you," Sammy says, getting up.
"Do you understand the meaning of alone?" Yasmina growls.
"Yeah, but we can't be alone on this island," Sammy says. "What if a dinosaur came up to you and we couldn't get to you in time?"
"I still don't want to be with you," Yasmina hisses.
"Why?" Sammy frowns.
"You know d*** well why!" Yasmina snaps.
"Language!" Sammy exclaims. "Your words have power; you can bring blessings upon you, or curses upon you with your words. And we don't need curses right now. If you must curse, use alternatives!"
Yasmina growls, and turns on Sammy. "Okay, bleep you, you tooting turd! I need time away from you, fartknocker! I have not had a break from your crapola in days, you son of a motherless goat! Just shut your piehole and suck eggs! God bless America!"
Much to her annoyance, the group starts laughing at her choice words. Chuckling, Darius stands up and helps her limp away from the group. He sits her down behind a tree not too far away from them. "Just call for help if you need it," Darius says.
"Thank you," Yasmina sighs, leaning her head back and closing her eyes.
Darius returns to the group and sits down. "Why doesn't she want to hang out with us?" Sammy asks sadly. "What did we do? You'd think she'd want to stay close on this island."
"Uh, duh," Kenji snickers. "She's an introvert, and now she can't even pee alone."
"It's a personality thing," Brooklynn explains.
"Wait, so it's not that she doesn't like people?" Sammy asks. "It's her personality?"
"Well, she definitely doesn't like people," Brooklynn laughs. "But different personalities react in different ways to social situations. When you get around others, you're energized by the interaction, right? You get energy from other people, and feel drained when you're alone, right?"
Sammy nods. "Well, introverts are the opposite," Brooklynn explains. "They recharge while being alone and social interaction zaps their energy. Being an introvert doesn't necessarily mean you're shy, it just means you need alone time to recharge. I'm an introvert, but most people don't believe me because I like to hang out with people. If I have too much interaction, I get grumpy because I don't have the energy to deal with you."
"I still don't get how anyone can not be energized from hanging out with others…" Sammy mumbles. "But I guess I get that explanation."
The group is quiet for a bit. "Speaking of sucking eggs," Kenji snickers, still laughing at Yasmina's choice words. "How do you guys like your eggs? I like ketchup on mine."
"My family puts cinnamon on their eggs," Sammy says. Kenji gasps. "Don't judge me, you ketchup egg eater!" Sammy exclaims dramatically.
"Don't judge me, you cinnamon egg eater!" Kenji shouts, equally as dramatically.
"Well, maybe I think that eggs are terrible in the first place!" Sammy shouts back. "So don't judge me!"
"I wasn't, you judged me first!" Kenji shouts, dramatically leaning forward to look her in the eyes. "But then I decided that cinnamon eggs might've not been terrible!"
"What is wrong with them?" Brooklynn quirks an eyebrow sleepily.
"I think they're sleep deprived," Darius says, squinting at the dramatic teens. "They're brains and emotions are completely shot."
""Then don't judge the cinnamon!" Sammy huffs dramatically. "And I'll just judge eggs in peace!"
"Don't judge the ketchup upon these eggs!" Kenji shouts. "I already stopped judging the cinnamon. And what did eggs ever do to you?!"
"I bet you're still secretly judging them in your heart!" Sammy exclaims. "And I hate eggs cause they taste awful, that's why! They broke my heart! I was expecting deliciousness!"
"It's not their fault they didn't suit your taste buds, how dare you judge them for it!" Kenji shouts. "They can't help how they were made to taste!"
"Maybe they can't, but it's still my right to judge them!" Sammy dramatically pouts.
"You can't attack them for being the way they are, they can't change!" Kenji shouts.
Sammy shuts her eyes and shouts at the top of her lungs: "LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE FREEDOM TO JUDGE EGGS! GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
The two start laughing hysterically and roll around on the ground. "What the what?" Yasmina frowns, only hearing Sammy shout something about liberty and eggs at the top of her lungs.
"Wouldn't this attract a predator?" Brooklynn asks.
"Huh?" Darius looks at her, not understanding what she said. "Oh! Yeah, this would! Okay, guys, guys, stop! Settle down!" He puts his hand over Kenji's mouth. "You need to be quieter."
Kenji starts giggling again. "We jUmPed oUt a wIndOw!" he cracks his voice on purpose.
Sammy starts snorting with laughter. "Balalalala," she imitates Baymax. The two start to quote Big Hero 6.
Darius rubs his eyes. "Brooklynn, go bring Yasmina back in. We need sleep, ASAP."
Brooklynn helps Yasmina back to the group while Darius tries to shush the snorting teens. "What the heck is wrong with these two?" Yasmina asks.
"We're all sleep deprived," Darius says. "Brooklynn and I are losing brain cells, you're grumpy, and these two find everything funny."
The three sane kids separate Sammy and Kenji in an attempt to get them to calm down. After five minutes of making them lie still, the two went out like a light. "I'll stay up and keep guard," Darius yawns.
"I can do that," Yasmina offers.
"Please go to sleep, you're grumpy," Darius says.
Yasmina chuckles. "Fine, but wake me when you're nodding off."
"All right," Darius says as the group settles down for some much needed rest.
"The park!" Ben exclaims happily, seeing the buildings coming up. Bumpy had finally decided to move, and after several botched attempts to steer her, he finally figured out how to guide her in the direction he wanted. He gently pulls her horns and guides her to the park, but the Ankylosaurus was already heading in that direction.
As they enter the park, Ben hears a roar. He looks to the side and sees Toro coming around a building. "Great," he sighs. "It's going down."
(If you're questioning any odd convo's between the kids, my friends give me a lot of inside jokes... only they're not sleep deprived when they do...)
