Letters From the Summer

June, 1978

Dear Danders,

Many thanks for your last letter, I cannot believe that you might be sitting back, relaxing on a beach and enjoying your holiday as you read this.

Send my regards to your daughter, her advice on booksellers to contact was incredibly useful.

How are you getting on anyway?

We are getting on fine, many thanks for asking. The shop is spluttering along quite nicely - although it's quiet now the Hogwarts students have gone home for the summer.

My "young strapping lads" are doing well, thanks for asking. James and Sirius have been accepted onto the young Auror's programme doing whatever that entails with great success apparently; Remus is still on a job hunt, but is definitely being less of an idiot these days, and Cass seems to be going down a storm at St Mungo's.

Do you know when you might be returning from your holiday yet? Let me know! Stay safe, Danders.

All my love,

Em

Em,

I've been called away to-scene-accident-an emergency. Sorry to leave you hanging so last minute. Please call one of the boys to come over, and please don't stay up waiting for me. I'm not sure how long I'll be here.

Cass

P.S, we need a fucking phone.

July 1978

Em,

How are you? Good I hope.

I'm writing to let you know I'll be back home in a few days. I was wonder- [crossed out].

I wanted to know if you had any vacancies at the shop? Cheeky of me to ask, I know, but Cass told me Danders was still looking for staff and...well, let me know.

How's the boys? I heard Lily and James moved in together (finally). Do you know if Sirius is still looking for a flatmate?

Seems forward of me to be asking all these questions when we've barely spoken in months, I…

I've missed you.

Yours always,

Remus

Remus,

It's so wonderful to hear from you. I hope your trip to visit your parents went ok?

Don't be silly! I'd love to have the help, and to be honest, I'm getting a bit sick of Sirius. He keeps putting all the books on the wrong shelves and it takes me hours to re-sort it! I can't really complain though to be honest, he brought enough vinyl for the store to last us years - even if most of it is David Bowie.

I mentioned the roommate thing to him and he says the room is waiting for you.

It will be good to have you back. The boys have been acting strangely. Cass too actually. Every time I turn a corner they stop talking. I'm not sure why. Have they said anything to you?

I've not got a good feeling about it.

Yours always,

Em
