At Hamilton Hill High school

"Tutoring? Does that mean you're gonna stop doing homework now, too?" Nash asked.
"I never said that." Blade answered.
"Then let's go for a ride."
"Right now? Just like that?"

"But I like a little warning." Blade said before walking away.
"Okay then. Saturday night. Dance at the pier."
"I'll think about it, but I might have other commitments." Blade said before continuing to walk away.
"Then how about a ride home?" Nelson offered.

But Nash just elbowed the nerdy kid away from him. "Wasn't talking to you, nerd." He said before he saw Willie fall on his car, almost scratching it and ruining his left sleeve in the process, making the jock gasp before he looked at his car. "Now look what you did. You almost scratched it." He said before grabbing Willie and went for a punch before he heard 2 familiar voices.
"Lay off him, Nash. Don't you have anything better to do?" Terry asked his rival.
"Or do you need another one of my lessons?" Max, in her trench coat, asked while cracking her knuckles.
"You think I'm afraid of you 2?" Nelson asked with no fear.
"I don't know. Are you?" Terry answered with a question.
"Or perhaps you've forgotten how very deadly I can be around people like you?" Max asked while advancing on the bully.
Nash looked at Willie before looking back at Terry and Max. "He's not worth it. But you are, McGinnis. And you are worth it times 20, Gibson. Someday." He threatened before getting into his car and speeding away.
"You ok?" Terry asked with concern for Willie.
Later
At a construction site, a man named Frank, who was Willie's harsh father, was observing the new construction robot: the Golem, working on the building, barking orders to his workers until he turned to his son and saw his sleeve. "So what are you going to do to the guy who did that?" Frank asked before getting no response from his son, making him a bit mad. "No wonder they walk all over you. I told you, Willie: someone pushes, you push back."
"Yeah, like that'll help." Willie said sarcastically.
But that only caused his father to grab him. "You listen to me. I'm not raising no wuss. I want you to take care of this, Willie, you hear?"
"How am I supposed to do that?" Willie asked.
"Hit 'em where it hurts. You figure it out." Frank answered while his son looked at the Golem outside and got an idea of how to do just that.
Later at night
Batgirl was testing her suit's new camouflage system, having thought of it with Bruce a few days ago but they also discovered that it takes up most of the suit's power, so she had to limit the amount of time to use the camouflage.
As she was testing it, a couple of people were playing a basketball game, with no one seeing her. "The camouflage system is working perfectly." She whispered to her boss and mentor through her communication.
"No one's noticed you yet?" Bruce asked.
"No one." Batgirl answered before she saw police cars rushing by. "Great. Trouble." Batgirl said with annoyance as she turned visible again and flew to follow the cars.
When she got to their destination, she'd heard that a gigantic robot named the golem had been stolen, much to her concern as a robot that big could cause great damage to the city. She quickly got out of the area and contacted Bruce. "Bruce, you got this?"
"I heard. The last changing shift was only an hour ago, so the stolen Golem couldn't have gone far or unnoticed. Start searching within at least a 10 mile perimeter around the construction site, I'll keep you updated for any distress calls."
"Got it boss." Max said before breaking contact.
Meanwhile at the Gotham mall
Nash and Blade had just come out when the bully jock spoke. "I'm sick of the mall. How about a ride?"
"You like that car more than me." Blade said with her hands on her hips.
"Who said anything about cars?" Nelson asked, implying something a bit more intimate.
But unknown to anyone, Willie, who was wearing the control helmet for the Golem, was smiling with bad intent and before anyone knew it, the gigantic robot itself was coming up to them, scaring everyone, even Nelson, who ran like a coward to his car while leaving behind Blade, who was trying to catch up to him but fell as the robot walked past her as Nelson tried driving away, only for the Golem to grab and pick it up as Nelson fell out of the car."
"Hit 'em where it hurts." Willie said, repeating the words his father told him as he controlled the Golem to completely squeeze the car until it was completely beyond repair, much to Nelson's dismay before the robot threw the car away.
But before it could do any more damage, an explosive Batarang hit the Golem, thrown by Batgirl before she threw 2 more, which didn't do any damage to it before the robot broke apart part of the building and tried to hit the new Dark Knight, only to just send her into another car that Blade was on the other side of before the Golem stepped up and moved to hit Batgirl again.
"Leave us alone!" Watt said in anger before everyone ran from it, including Blade as Batgirl jumped on another car that the Golem destroyed after the new Dark Knight jumped out of the way and ran up the robot's arm and jumped to the window part of the building. When the Golem advanced on her again, Batgirl jumped to an ascending elevator before the people in it ran out of it as the new Dark Knight was hanging from the bottom of the elevator while the Golem got close to her as she saw the electric circuit of the elevator, getting an idea.
"Gotcha now, stupid little bat." Watt said with a smirk before he made the Golem punch the circuit as Batgirl got out of the way, electrocuting itself and Watt through it as well before they both fell on their backs as Batgirl landed.
When Nelson and Blade came out of hiding, she turned to him with disgust. "My hero." She said sarcastically before walking away.
Batgirl knew that she needed to leave now, so she quickly got to an upper level and engaged her camouflage system before getting out of the area, with Watt doing the same after throwing the control helmet off and walking away.
Later
When Max returned to the Batcave, Bruce showed her on the computer what he had noticed before she got back after her fight with the machine. "The Golem's control halo was found on the rooftop... fused."
This made Max wonder who was controlling the Golem. "Any info on whose head it was on?"
Bruce shook his head "No such luck." Then Bruce pressed one of the buttons and showed her the video images of the Golem crushing the red car. "The Golem went straight for that car."
Max recognized that red Ferrari. "Belongs to Nelson Nash. He goes to Hill High."
"Anyone who might have a grudge against him?" Bruce asked while keeping his eyes on the screen.
Max gave a shrug. "Honestly, nearly everyone has something against him. He's the biggest bully around in that school. The line starts with me and Terry, somewhat, and goes around the block. Twice."
Bruce thought for a few seconds, before instructing Max. "You best keep an eye out on this Nelson Nash. The one who controlled the Golem might come after him again."
Max gave a nod before she watched the screen again, thinking of what bigger opponents might cross her path. If even bigger opponents cross my path and even the 20 times strength of the suit can't help me, I'll need some kind of weapon other than my Batarangs and the other gadgets.
Bruce seemed to know what Max was on her mind with and pressed a different button, opening a part of the wall that held some of Batman's weapons before he raised from his chair and walked into the room with Max while saying. "I understand that you've long since taken up martial arts and you're also an expert with swords, correct?"
"Sure. But what's that got to do with anything?"
Bruce typed a passcode on a platform, making a secured case open, revealing a Katana sword with the Batman Insignia on the handle. "I figured you'd like to see this. I made it years ago but I've never used it for obvious reasons." He explained as Max looked with amazement at the katana sword while Bruce gave a smirk and he stated. "I figured that someone like you might need something like this." Before he took the katana sword and handed it over to Max.
She inspected the black color, finding it fascinating. "The black colored metal... it's unique."
Bruce gave a nod. "It is. The metal of this katana sword is forced from the metal of a meteorite that I had found in here when I constructed the Batcave. I've also added a few more things to the sword. It will also give you the capability to pierce even the strongest metals on Earth and the blade is retractable with the push of a button on the handle. Consider this a gift. But I must warn you; only use this sword when absolutely necessary, so don't even think about it to use it to hurt people."
Max assured her boss/mentor. "You know me, Bruce. I'd never do that. I bruise but I vowed to myself long ago to never kill. And to ensure that I don't, if I ever do lose it, activate the failsafe device to the suit with me still in it. Call it 1 of our little contingency plans for me." She said, making Bruce smile, as they had something else in common. "Anyway, got anything for me to test this on?"
"Of course." Bruce answered before bringing up a big titanium cube. "The metal is pure titanium. Try and cut it."
Max then unretracted the blade of her new sword and rushed to the metal cube before landing a very precise slash through it. After a few seconds, it seemed like Max never even cut through it... before the cube split in half, much to her satisfaction. "I think I'm gonna like this thing." Max said while carefully rubbing the blade before retracting it back into the handle.
The next day at the school
Nelson was trying to apologize to Blade but she was having none of it. "Come on, baby. You know I care about you. I thought you were right behind me."
"I was. By about 100 feet." She said before beginning to walk away while saying to herself. "But brave Nelson. I might as well go to the dance with a twip like Willie Watt." And as if on cue, she bumped right into Willie, surprised. "Willie." She said before getting an idea to spite Nelson. "Are you...busy Saturday night?"

But this only got Nelson angry as he asked while pushing Willie against the lockers. "Think I'm gonna let some twip take my girl?" But unknown to anyone, the Golem, which was sitting in the police impound after it was taken down by Batgirl, felt Willie while breaking out of the impound as Nelson stopped himself from punching Willie as a teacher was passing by. "Relax. You're safe... for now." He said before slapping the nerdy kid in the face and walking away.
As Willie was picking up his glasses, Max walked up to him. "You okay, Willie?"
"Yeah. I'm great, just great." He answered before walking away, having strangely felt the Golem through a link that the electric fusion somehow created. Later on, as he went to a Jokerz gang territory to feel the Golem more, a gang of Jokerz tried to terrorize him but rode off on their motorcycles when the giant robot finally appeared, with Watt stating that from now on, everything would be different for him.
Later Saturday night at the pier
Dana and Terry walked hand in hand where the school dance was held "I'm glad you came with me, Terry." Dana spoke softly.
Terry gave a nod. "I wouldn't have missed it for the world, except if my mom and brother needed me for something, which fortunately they didn't tonight."
Then they both saw Max, wearing a nice outfit for the dance. But strangely...she was alone. Terry and Dana walked over to her. "Hey, Max. You... came alone?" Terry asked.
Max gave a shrug. "What? Just because it's a dance, doesn't mean I actually got to have a date, right? Besides, I'm sure I'll find a cute girl here to hang out with."
Seeing that their friend was mostly like that when they hung out together, they didn't mind. "Well alright. Suit yourself, Max." Dana said while walking with Terry to the dance floor.
While Max was paying attention to the people in the room, she spotted Nelson Nash and thought to herself. 'There he is. Best keep my eyes open for the guy who controlled the Golem to hurt him. He could be anyone, even someone here.' Then Max spotted a redhead girl, sitting alone at the bar. Seeing she was probably alone like her, Max formed a small smile while walking over to her. 'Although... some fun on the job won't hurt."
After Max sat close to the redhead girl and took a drink too, the redhead girl curiously asked. "Alone too, huh?"
Max gave a nod while taking a sip. "Yeah, me too." The redhead girl looked with disappointment "You also couldn't find a date for the dance in time?"
Max formed a grin when she glanced at her "Not really."
The girl raised an eyebrow at Max. "Oh?"
"I've never really been 'into' men, if you catch my drift?"
This surprised the redhead girl a bit, but then she formed a small smile. "Oh... I see."
"I don't think I've seen you at school before. You're new at Hill High?" Max wondered.
The redhead girl nodded. "Yeah, just moved to Neo-Gotham a week ago. Had only heard since yesterday about the upcoming dance, but... I didn't really feel like asking any boy." Before she now looked a bit sad.
Max moved her hand to hers on the table, looking in understanding. "I know it sucks. But think of the opposite. At least you can find someone to hang out with at the dance."
The redhead girl hadn't really expected this sudden sense of touch, but as she looked into Max's eyes, she felt more comfortable. "Yeah... that's true. I'm Laura." She introduced herself.
"Maxine. But my friends call me Max."

"Don't worry, I'll talk to him. He'll understand." Nelson said before walking to Willie.

But unknown to them, Willie was climbing back up on the ladder as the Golem moved closer to his location and when Willie got back up, he grinned evilly before telepathically calling the Golem to come to him, which the robot did, even as Willie's father saw it and was heading there as well.
Meanwhile
As a slow song was playing, Max and Laura were both dancing in each other's arms, following the rhythm of the slow romantic song before Laura gave a small sigh while saying softly in Max's ear "Thank you for this amazing night, Max."
Both looked into each other's eyes, as Max formed a small grin. "Well, the night is still young." She said before she then moved her hands to Laura's butt, stroking it softly. "And so are we."

Suddenly, Max's phone rang. Seeing it was Bruce who was calling, she excused herself. "Sorry, Laura. I gotta take this." The redhead girl gave a nod in understanding before Max answered the phone. "Yes?"
"The Golem is heading your way." Knowing the seriousness of this, Max went into the shadows. "I hope you brought your suit?" Bruce asked.
"Always." She answered while disappearing into darkness to change into her suit, as this thing with the Golem and the one who was controlling it had to be stopped. And this would be a perfect field test for her new sword.
As Willie walked up to the dancing Nelson and Blade, the bully jock spoke to him. "What are you looking at, twip?"
As Willie glared at him, Dana and Terry walked up to him. "Come on, Willie. Terry and I will take you home." She said with compassion.
But Willie, having reached his breaking point, snatched his arm away. "I don't need your help. I don't need anyone's help anymore!" He said before his eyes had a strange green glow before green energy surrounded him and the Golem appeared, making everyone afraid as they tried running away, with some of the teenagers falling into the water.
"Nelson!" Blade yelled while clenching his arm.
"Let go!" Nelson said while shoving her off him and running for his life but was stopped by the Golem, which moved its foot up to crush him and would have if Batgirl hadn't swung in and got him out of the way. "Thanks. Hey mind if I-" Nelson said, thanking the new Dark Knight with a smile, showing that he admired Gotham's protector.
But Batgirl wasn't interested in hearing any thanks from him and said sarcastically. "Don't mention it and not interested." Before throwing him into the water.
When Batgirl tried to swing around the robot, it grabbed her as Willie walked up to it. "You should have stayed out of it, Batgirl."
But that was when Frank came up to him and turned him around. "Willie!" He said, making the robot turn its attention and making it throw Batgirl away. "So you're doing this. Stop it right now!" He told his power mad son before the Golem walked up to him threateningly. "Willie, what are you doing?" He asked before running as the robot tried to crush him!
"Who's the wuss now, Dad?" Willie asked with evil delight as the Golem cornered Frank before Batgirl flew up to it and threw 2 explosive Batarangs at the robot, which didn't do any damage to it as Frank climbed up on the roller coaster and ran on the support beams to get away from the Golem.
As the Golem looked for Batgirl, it quickly found her as she landed. "How are you doing this? Wait. When that electric circuit fried the robot, it linked you to it." She concluded.
"Got that right, stupid little bat. And now I'm gonna get supreme satisfaction." Willie said with delight, planning to murder his father after killing the new Dark Knight.
After Batgirl dodged an attack from the Golem, she went higher on the beams. "But he's your father, Watt!"
"Not for long. Ha!" Willie said, now mad and drunk with power as he got the Golem to Batgirl's level and attacked her, making her avoid the blow as she got to the robot's central eye.
"Time to field test my new sword." Batgirl said before getting out her sword, with the blade unretracted before the new Dark Knight stabbed it in the eye, rendering it completely useless and causing it and Watt both extreme pain before the robot bumped on the beam, destroying some of them and sending Frank into the air before he grabbed a hanging beam.
Batgirl put away her sword and jumped to the man. "Jump!" She told him.
"I can't swim!" He told the new Dark Knight.
"Damn it!" Batgirl said with annoyance.
Watt, now angry than before, used the Golem's flamethrower to try to fry Batgirl and his father before she got out of the way of the flames and saved Frank from falling into the water and threw him to safety before landing on a spinning ride, shot 2 grapple lines into the Golem, tied the lines up to the ride and got out of the way before the robot was pulled to the ride before it was dismantled in half while also losing its right arm!
"NOOOOOO!" Willie cried out as the now destroyed robot fell to the ground before Watt walked up to it and cried, sad about losing the power that he had. "Come back! Come back!"
Batgirl then looked at Frank. "Better go talk to him. I have a feeling you won't be seeing him for a while."
"Yeah. Sure caused a lot of trouble." Frank said with regret as he did just that before looking at the new Dark Knight, who was beginning to prepare to fly away. "Guess that means he ain't no wuss anymore." He said proudly, seeing Batgirl look at him in disgust before flying away.
Later that night
After Max and Bruce found out on the news that Willie had been sentenced to 3 years in juvie, where unknown to anyone but the people inside, left him with a mysteries new power left behind by the destroyed Golem, the former Dark Knight gave his protege the rest of the night off, which Max was fine with, as she had plans for finishing up her night.

Laura had fortunately gotten away from the scene after looking over how Batgirl destroyed the Golem. When she didn't find Max, she decided to walk back home in disappointment. But that was when Max appeared out of the shadows.
