Who is your OC today?

Kristy Ar'hop soon to be Chola

So you're male and Kristy is obviously female. I know you use her name as your discord name on servers. Is it awkward when someone approaches you as a female on discord?

Well I refrain from telling most people what I am unless directly asked and not really. Someone's sex has little effect on how I feel about a person. Though as a rather shy person it's awkward whenever I meet someone new.

What animal are they?

bobcat

What do they look like? Special markings, colorations, etc.

In summer she has a burnt orange coat with a cream belly, on her breast she has a lucky spot. It's a brown spot in the shape of a heart. During winter much of her orange becomes silver gray and her belly and chest become a stark white. She has honey brown eyes. She has many ear piercings, she likes to dress sexy and paint her claws. Though as she matured she has started to dress professionally at work.

Is Kristy's color change over the seasons an attribute of all bobcats?

Yes, it's one of the few things that distinguish them from lynxes.

What gave you the idea for her 'lucky' spot?

well my real life cat neo has a couple spots on him that are heart shaped, so it's from him really. plus i just think its cute

What inspired you to create them?

I'm a weird dude, before the story she was just a female version of me so I could play house with some friends. Then as the RP progressed she evolved and grew and my friend Joe and I started writing a story together and she became more and more her own thing. There's still a lot of me in her but we have differing interests.

What are they like?

Friendly, outgoing, a bit of a show off and a flirt. In her younger days she was a heavy partier, willing to try just about anything for a good time. Though she was smart enough to not use any drugs that she had to snort or inject she did just about everything else. However she was dedicated to her music, never let anything keep her from playing a show. Which was her favorite part of being in a band. After her band broke up and she had to get her life together she learned to be responsible.

How much of yourself do you see in Kristy now?

there is a lot of me in her. we both have played music in our past, are hard workers, affectionate, weirdly maternal, she's not as nerdy as me (any more, when she was first created she was into all the same nerdy stuff, but i removed that cause it didn't make sense for her backstory) her parents are a lot like mine.

What's their family life like?

Her father was an officer in the army since he got out of highschool and served in a couple wars (I basically use/see the country that Zootopia sits in as America. Think the gulf wars and the little conflicts here and there). He got a college degree in the army and became an officer. Kristy's mother married her father in highschool she had a few odd jobs till the birth of her second cub. From there she became the typical officer's wife. Personality wise Kristy and her parents are very different. They prefer the more regimented stable life of the army. Where Kirsty embraced the wild cat instincts and bounced from guy to guy while she was on an adventure, her parents actively fought against those instincts. Her parents were as much a product of their time, which I see as a short time for mammals, maybe just cats bucking their instincts to beat the stereotypes. The slutty cat, dumb loyal wolf maybe, wildabeast allways following the crowd, I havent put a lot of thought into.

Kristy is the youngest of four. Two brothers and a sister. Due to moving with the army so much they were never that close to the rest of the family. They have met most of the family grandparents of course but they didn't really have a bearing on their lives. Kristy's siblings were much more like her parents than Kristy. The oldest brother and her sister both joined the army like their father while the middle brother went to college. When Kristy was in high school her father decided to retire and return to the family farm. This upset the young bobcat queen filled with wanderlust so she ran away from home and hasn't talked to them in 13 years.

Do they have a love interest?

Samuel Chola

What's your favorite thing about creating a character?

Well that's kind of hard to explain while being so simple. Coming up with their history, likes, dislikes and their features can be as much a nightmare as it can be the most fun thing ever. It all depends on how inspired you are at the time. Like it took me forever to come up with treats for the other members of Kristy's band other than Roxxie. Then one day a joke picture I found turned into a full little thing I wrote for my friends. So I guess the simple answer is when something little inspires fun things for a character.

Do you have any stories written about them or that they're included in?

Life Turns Right

Vicky is Kristy's daughter so what do you see is the biggest difference between them?

The main thing would be experience. while she will always be a free spirited fire cracker. after raising 4 children and "adopting" a teen, she's become a bit of a worrier when they are involved, her husband too but to a lesser extent.

We've said before that Vicky is very much like Kristy. What's your take on that?

Well, they're both free spirited firecrackers, lol. they're both stubborn but not bull-headed. occasionally over dramatic, normally optimistic and very affectionate. though i see Vicky as being a little more prudish than Kristy, while Vicky is a bit more sarcastic and quick witted.

For the purpose of the OC interview the setting is the creator's OC is about to be interviewed by my co-owned OC Vicky Chola. A north american grey fox vixen in her mid 20s. They're both in a studio booth with headphones on and microphones to speak into. The interview we did earlier about the creator and their OC is considered a pre conversation between these two before going on the air. Vicky will ask questions based on the answers provided by the creator. Enjoy!

"Welcome everyone to another edition of the Characters of Zootopia show! I'm your host Vicky Chola and you've heard me say this before but today we have a truly special guest. It's with great pleasure, that I welcome to the show, my mom!"

"Well, hello everyone it's a pleasure to be part of my daughters project."

"Oh this is going to be so much fun!" squeals

Squeals a little "Yeah, but I'll tell you this ain't my first interview, but it will be my favorite."

"So why don't you tell everyone where you're from?"

"Well I was Born while my dad was stationed in Germany. I don't remember, really anything from there... with Daddy being in the army we moved a lot. Some mammals would hate that, my brothers and sister did. I loved traveling like that. Meeting new mammals, seeing new places, you know." giggles "There are perks to being settled with a nest and all that but I'm rambling."

"So what happened when Grand dad retired?"

"Well you know how Grand Dad wanted to run the family ranch...I was too full of wanderlust with a dream of being a Rockstar to be some little farm girl, so Aunt Roxxie and I along with our friends Tea and Arta loaded up a van with instruments and headed to stardom."

"Do you ever regret it?"

"... that's hard to answer sweetheart. There are things I regret doing... the males, the drugs stuff I probably can't remember. But I can't say I regret it all as a whole." there is an audible shrug "I mean if I changed anything I might not have met your father, or saved your sister or Stefano. Who knows where all of us would have ended up."

"If you could change anything and have the same outcome, what would it be?"

"ummm." whispers "all the guys."

snorts "What does dad think about that?"

"um he wants to take them all deep sea fishing?"

"...what?"

sigh. "I guess you don't remember what your father said about your first boyfriend."

"Who, Leon?"

"Yeah. He joked about taking them deep sea fishing but Sam would come home alone."

"He would come..." gasp! "He wouldn't?!"

"Oh of course not he's joking." giggles "if he was going to do anything he would have asked Uncle Kno for help."

"That's not funny mom."

smirks "sure."

"Waasss dad like that with all my boyfriends?"

"He's your father sweetheart, he's been watching over you since the day you were born."

"Mmmm, well let's get back to you. How long were you doing the rock star gig?"

"Bout ten years, lot of ups and downs."

"Were there more ups or downs?"

"Depends on what you consider and up."

"What you considered up."

"Well selling 'Free From You'... it was the most money we had ever seen at the time, but we blew all that money on clothes and... drugs. And well it didn't do any for our notoriety, we were getting the same number of shows for the same pay as before, the partying was fun even if I can't remember half of it."

"What brought it to an end?"

deep sigh. "Tea ODed... she was our drummer. I don't know if your listeners want the full story. "But it does make a good cautionary tale about drugs."

"We're considered a family show so we'll have to leave it at that I'm afraid. I do want to ask what happened to Tea's remains?"

"We talked to her family. They wanted her cremated and sent back to them. I think she was sprinkled in the lake she grew up by."

"What happened to the band after that?"

"It broke up. Arty, our bassist, was on the verge of an emotional breakdown. So with basically the last of our savings, we sent her back to her family."

"Did you think about trying to go home after that?"

"Yeah, but after 10 years of almost no contact, and not enough money to make it, I was sort of stuck."

"How'd you get by?"

"I got lucky. Roxxie and Kno landed a job at Savannah Heat so they were set. Me, I was living in the van...which barely ran. Going through withdrawals made getting or keeping a job hard. Then one day at a fast food joint my card got declined in front of Uncle Fred and Aunt Nora. Though at the time they were just strangers then. They took pity on this kitty, probably because I was about their own kits' age."

"How were things after meeting them?"

"Easier, I had a home again. They gave me a place to live and even helped me get a job, car and eventually a house."

"Did they ever ask you about your family?"

"Yeah. They were why I was friends with them on Muzzlebook. Both NahNah and I were too stubborn or nervous to really talk to each other and well you know Grand Dad and the social media stuff."

"Yeah... Let's not get into that."

"Yeah, doesn't make me or them look very good huh." giggles nervously

"Oh, what happened to your friend Arta after the band broke up?"

"Arty? She went back home, she eventually started a family with a high school flame. But well, she had to deal with a couple addictions. She got divorced, remarried to the opossum, we visited them a few years ago in fact. They're doing fine."

"So you meet Uncle Fred and Aunt Nora, you finally get your life together. How were you doing in the guy department?"

"Same as before till your father." sigh "Sweet heart, I had a habit of going for a pretty face and well, I don't prowl so I always tried to make it work… it never did."

"Did Dad have a pretty face?" snicker

"For a fox." snickers "But really it was more than just the face, he was handsome and broken but still road to my rescue without a second thought and after bumping into each other a few times it just felt right like a story or a song so it just started there."

"Hmm, I specifically remember you giving me a lecture about it not being like that." she said smugly

"Yes yes, the start was exciting and all but the best part has been everything after that."

"Uh hu, So what happened next?"

"Whatcha mean?"

"After you got settled with a home and job."

"Oh." humming. "Well, I just kind of lived. Like, well, an adult. Went on a few dozen dates and the like. Broke up, got together with someone else. Made manager at Cat's Meowsic so on and so forth.

"When did that change?"

"Well when I met your sister. On a dark night after working late to do...you know what I don't remember any more, anyway that's not important. I bumped into this little scared wet chinchilla and well something in her little blue eyes just awoke something in me. I just suddenly felt the overwhelming need to protect and care for her. Does that make sense?"

"No, not really. I mean, I think any decent mammal would have helped her but you did more than that. Didn't you?"

"Yeah that's what I mean. Like that night I basically started thinking about her like she was my kit. Caused a big fight with my then boyfriend... he lost... and well anyway from then on I was going to raise her...even if I had no idea what I was doing most of the time."

"Did the thought of finding her parents come first?"

"Yeah but the moment I mentioned it she almost exploded in fright."

"I can imagine. She was on the show earlier so we don't have to go too deep into the details. But she wasn't the first mammal in need that you opened your door to was she?"

"Oh yes. About a month or two before Orchid came around I took in Stefano. He was an exchange student from Italy. Though my boyfriend at the time wasn't happy about it, till he learned the school was paying."

"So how did you get involved in that?"

"Umm, I think there was a flier at the store or something, might have been at the mall. It was one of those spur of the moment things."

giggles "You just decided at the drop of a hat to invite some college age stranger into your home. You were quite the swinger mom."

giggles "Well when you live in a college town, you got to love college life. I'm sure you know all about that sweet heart. Plus at the time I thought I would be a good to pass on my wisdom to someone."

"Yeah, college was certainly fun. So at this point in your life you've got Stefano there, you've just started helping Orchid, what was the next big thing to happen?" she says with an excited grin

"Well the worst break up of my life. Well, I've had a few bad break ups in my time. a few got pretty loud." deep sigh and shifting. "But well there's a line you don't cross, it doesn't matter if you're male or female, you don't put paws on someone you love."

"What happened?"

"Lot of yelling and growling, bared teeth. Poor Orchid almost had a heart attack. Then he slapped me, I was lucky he kept his claws sheathed..." snort "swear my teeth were loose. but I didn't let that stop me."

"Didn't stop you how?"

"From kicking him out of my house and protecting my little ones."

"Once he was gone how did things go?"

"We ate dinner and then I cried myself to sleep... can you cut that last bit."

"We're live I'm afraid. But after he was gone and you moved on what did you do to pick up all the pieces?"

"Well I dove head first into caring for Orchid and finally got to know Stefano. Little did I know fate would make it all so much easier."

"Seems like you don't know how to do anything without diving in head first?"

"Well yeah. Bobcat's got big heads so it's only natural."

Facepalm

Giggles

"Alright, let's get to the good part. When did you meet dad?"

"The next day actually. The store I worked at had internet trouble and he came to fix it."

"Was that all there was to it?"

"Yep, it was a bit of a funny story but well yeah he just came trotting into my life we chatted and he left."

"Funny how?"

"Well, are you sure that part is appropriate?

"Appropriate how? Can you just give us an idea of what happened?"

"Well, it turns out, my boss and his girlfriend... another manager... were in the electronics closet giving cats a bad name." giggles "Or a good one. Anyway they were a little too wild in there and tore one of the cords from the server."

"How did you figure that out?"

"We walked in on them."

"We? You mean dad was there with you?"

"Yep, we had known each other for all of a minute."

"What did he do?"

"After picking up his jaw from the floor and putting his eyes back into his head, he caught me as I flew into a blind rage."

"You attacked your boss? Why am I not surprised?"

"Hey! What do you mean by that?"

"Moving on. When did you meet dad and realize there was something between you?"

"Well, I think it was when he burst into Aunt Roxxie's office after I broke down on stage."

"What caused you to break down?"

"Oh um," nervous giggle, "the break up plus feeling like I was getting old and going nowhere. It made me realize I couldn't stay out all night drinking and partying looking for guys to hook up with...I had to be home every night and at work every day. It was a lot for me to take... I hope you don't have to go through that sweetheart. It's like being hit by a truck." a soft giggle rolls through the speakers. "though once the shock is over you feel so fulfilled with that stuff. Least I did."

"So dad barges in unannounced into Roxxie's office. What happened?"

"Well your aunt was telling me that basically there is opportunity behind every door or something like that, just the second before he came in. Then Kno yanked him out of the room."

"Uncle Kno yanked him out?" chuckles

"Thought they might kill each other for a second, Kno was very protective of Roxxie when she was pregnant, thankfully she stepped in and stopped them."

"So once the dust settled and you two got a moment alone, what did he say? Did he tell you why he was there? Because you two hadn't really interacted much before then."

"He was there with friends and just so happened to see me perform, and really when I'm rocking a house how can you resist." dreamy sigh. "But he wanted to make sure I was okay after that little breakdown. Which is why I wanted to get to know him so much... a lot too early for Sam's liking, still surprised how quickly he forgave Kno and Roxxie, but I still think it was a good night. All things considered."

"Forgave them for what?"

deep breath. "Well they used some connections they had to look up your father's history..."

"I don't think I've heard this story before."

"We don't talk about this part much. It's never fun hearing about how someone's life fell apart."

"Victoria?"

"Sort of" sighs "it's not her per say that was the problem that night, it was the fact Roxxie and Kno brought it up before your father was ready to talk about her."

"So, what happened exactly?"

sigh "Well after chatting for a bit I danced with Sam, me being my forward self i tried to kiss him but he wanted to talk first, but I've told y'all most of that before. We went back to Roxxie's office. She was crying in Kno's lap. After reminding me I had terrible taste in guys back then they showed us the background check. Your father was pissed to say the least, I can only really remember one maybe two other times I have seen him that mad... but I hugged him anyway. He calmed down after that."

"What was your first reaction when you found out he had been married before?"

"Before I heard she had passed away, I was wondering what I did to make Cupid hate me."

"So you and dad go back to their office, they justify doing the background check because of your past but how did Victoria get mixed up in that?"

"Your father still hadn't gotten over her death and as he put 'got dragged into this' by Roxxie and Kno. That's what upset him so much."

"Well yeah but it sounds like you thought he was still married for a moment. How'd that happen?"

"Oh hehehe. Well it wasn't mentioned that she had passed away at first."

"So, I think we're getting a lot of details out of order so let me see if I got this straight. You went to perform at Savanna Heat and ended up having a breakdown after a bad breakup. Dad was there and saw you have the break down and went to find you. When he did, Uncle Kno and Aunt Roxxie were confrontational about him. So while you and dad were dancing and getting closer they had someone run a background check on him? And when you tried to kiss dad he stopped you because he felt he needed to tell you something first. So you go back to the office and find Roxxie and Kno upset about something. Roxxie starts talking about all your bad history before telling you dad had previously been married. Dad gets mad and then they tell you she had actually passed away?"

"Yep." giggles "sorry about that, it all happened really quick."

"So after dad calms down what happened next?"

"Roxxie and Kno apologized before leaving to let us talk. That was...well it wasn't fun but it was necessary."

"How were things between you and dad after that?"

"Pretty good. We would have probably texted for a bit before meeting up but well. The very next day is when Orchids birth parents came back for her."

"How did that feel when you got the call?"

"Like the rug got pulled out from under me."

"What did you think when Orchid stood up to her parents and told them off?"

"Your big sister told you huh?" giggles "I was so proud of her and happy I could help her find her courage. Little bit later I was as nervous as can be."

"And why is that?"

"Well after the chinchilla's decided it was better for Orchid to live with me." mumbles something about lazy money grubbing puff balls. "and the process of adopting was on the way, I realized her life was now completely in my paws."

"You said it made you nervous but how did it start to feel over time?"

"Well... I've never really been a skittish cat... you pointed out how I jump in head first already."

"So at that point, you and dad had just started talking. How did Orchid becoming a permanent fixture change things?"

hums "we kind of just took it slow...uh probably shouldn't say what I just thought of soo yeah. We took it slow. Two weeks before we had a real date."

"And you just mentioned how you usually jump in head first for everything. You even tried to at the club that night. How was dating dad different?"

"Yep, and well your father is different in that way. He held back, didn't let his...desires. stop him from being a gentlemamal. Even if that was a little rough on me."

giggles "How rough was it? I remember you guys told me dad actually spent the night at your place a lot after you dated for a bit."

"Oh he spent the night a lot. Especially after an incident with my ex." sighs "but it was rough cause...well...he slept on the couch every time."

smirks "And where did you sleep?"

"My bed? Alone...what are you smirking about?"

"Uh hu, sure. So let's skip forward a bit. After you and dad got married. What was your reaction when you found out you were pregnant?"

"Oh uh. That's hard to explain.. " dreamy sigh "like it was the happiest thing the doc could have told me...even if she embarrassed the crap out of me."

"How'd she do that?"

"Basically asked if I roamed."

"In front of dad?"

"Yep"

"Oh boy, I bet that was embarrassing. So I actually want to fast forward a little bit. What was it like when you found out you were pregnant?"

"Well it took a minute for it to set in. Like you know it was kind of something that was always possible but not really in the cards. Back then hybrids weren't as common back then. When it set in I was super excited and happy. Then probably about as worried about it as I should have been when I first took in Orchid."

"What was it like after it was all said and done and you were taking all of us home for the first time?"

After a full body sigh the bobcat smiles. "with all four of yall in my arms it was the weirdest, most intense mixture of relief and Terror."

"I like to think that you and dad gave us as normal a life as possible. With dad owning his own business we obviously lived much more comfortable than some. And for you it was basically going from rags to riches wasn't it? When you two got married?"

giggles "with how the girls and I spent money on clothes we didn't wear rags but well we didn't have the best priorities." a smile spreads on her muzzle. "And I like to think those years I spent living on scraps from gig to gig then paycheck to paycheck on my own helped me keep y'all from being too spoiled."

"Were you ever tempted to splurge or worried that dad might think you were spending too much on something? I'd ask if dad surprised you by spending tons of money at once but we both know he's a scrooge with money."

giggles happily. "Yeah he is. I swear he turned green whenever I wanted to throw a party... except when we got married. I also didn't really want anything extravagant...and your sweet sixteen...your brothers going away parties...when Orchid got accepted to college." with a happy giggle the motherly bobcat thinks back to those times. "Guess I'm still a party girl at heart and your father...saves up for the big stuff."

snorts "That's one way to put it. So what is something that he would splurge on? Or rather, what's something you've seen him splurge on that surprised you?"

humms as she thinks. "Well...he always likes to have nice a truck. Remember when we had that addition added to the house? Though all of that was more practical." humming more "Your senior prom dress really surprised me."

"That surprised me as well. I think I was bouncing on my toes while you called him about it."

giggles "Girl we had to pull you off the ceiling when he said yes."

Ah "I wasn't that bad." giggles "I want to change subjects a little bit. I know you've listened to dad's interview and I wanted to get your view on some of the questions he was asked. Firstly, I want to get your personal thoughts on Richie. Just, when you think of him, what's the first thing that comes to mind?"

"Richie...Richie is." the bobcat sighs. "I worry about him, probably more than your father does. You remember the trouble he had in school... As good looking as he is." giggles. "Got the best of both of us so to speak... he was always bullied, you know you saw it. There were a few years that I dreaded every phone call because I was expecting one of your brothers to have gotten into another fight."

"And now that he's grown, married, has kids and taking over the family business?"

"That he's going to work himself to death. Richie has a habit of hyper focusing too much. You remember when he was trying to be an eagle scout, officer in the ROTC and advanced schooling."

"I don't know, he seems to have chilled a bit since he married Emily. Speaking of which, what did you think when he brought her to meet you for the first time?"

"What every mother thinks when her soldier son brings home a 'nurse'."

giggles "But she wasn't just a nurse mom, she was in the army to, remember? But alright, let's move on to Matt. What do you think about when you think of Matt?"

"Yeah, but you asked about what I thought of her when I first met her." giggles and hums. "well, Matt's my... Matt is more of a cat then I am in some ways. But he will always be my fluff butt baby boy."

Snickers "Fluff butt baby boy." snorts "I can't believe you said that on the air. If only Matt would care it might actually be funny though."

giggles "Yeah that's true. It's not like when I call you my, itty bitty vixy princess."

"Noooo, don't start that. Just... tell us something else about Matt."

"He got my pension for pet names."

"Yeah, let's not go there. What about Orchid? What do you think when you think of her?"

"I think about how much she helped me as much as I helped her." nostalgic purr. "I mean like I had to change so much for her but it was all for the better I think."

"What do you think or feel when you think about where she was in life when you found her and where she is now?"

hmmms for a moment till her purrs become a gentle growl. "when I think about how mammals that were so well off they could have given her just about anything she wanted or needed but still just treated her like a burden unless she made a good accessory, well I still have trouble," forgetting she was voice only Kristy motioned to her throat as she continues to growl. "But now." the growls fade to purrs again. "now I see all the struggles were for good to see how well she's doing now. Same with all of you too. My life's work was not music but you four and it's been good work "

sigh "I guess I have to ask what you think of me." sarcastic eye roll

giggles happily. "Sweet heart you're just like me. A headache when you were young, but you grew out of it like I knew you would. I'm so proud of you." the smile she has can be heard in her voice. "I just hope you're not taking after me too much, love wise."

"Why would I do that?" she said with a flat face, her ears lightly tinted

the bobcat's eyebrows lifted, that wasn't what she expected. "Um well you know. Your dates never last long." not even the bobcat really knew what she meant.

"Uh, yeah, let's talk about you and dad now. How's it feel to be grandparents now with a second grandchild on the way?"

"Oh it feels amazing." she giggled. "Like all the good parts of being a parent without the bad you know?" She smiled that motherly smile she always did when she would ask about Vicky's prospects

"The bad hu?"

"Yeah, changing diapers, making sure you're eating right, sleeping on time, not spoiling you. You know all the stuff I don't have to do with Junior but Emily does."

"Yeah, I don't envy her. Little Richie is too cute though. Well, that's about all the time we have for today. Thank you for coming to my show mom."

"Anytime my Itty Bitty Vixy Princess." Still as fast as ever Kristy pulled Vicky and showered her head in motherly kisses.

"Ah! Mom!" pushes away with a laugh "Ugh so embarrassing."

Kristy giggles as she plops back in her seat. She smiles as her nose wiggles at the hint of a scent she caught. "Wait a second, why do you smell lik-"

Vicky's eyes go wide just before scrambling on her keyboard and the feed goes dead
