Answer: Merrick savage
What animal are they?
Answer: they are a wolf
What do they look like? Special markings, colorations, etc.
He's pretty tall, his primary fur a color is gray silver with White being secondary. He has silver Iris. On his right arm there is a electrical pattern starting from his paw all up to his shoulder in the colors of the bisexual flag. There are also three stones embedded into his knuckles each stone representing one color of the bisexual flag (purple pink and blue). There is a modified heartagram symbol on his back and on his chest is a broken/cracked pattern starting right above his heart and extending out over his chest.
What inspired you to create them?
Answer: mixture of things inspired me to create Merrick. First for his species was inspired by Beastars more specifically Legosi. The stones in his paws were inspired by Avengers infinity war and endgame, as for the colors of the stone well that should be obvious
What are they like?
Answer: he can be pretty blunt and socially awkward due to being sheltered and never really getting a chance to socialize in his village. He is loyal once his trust is earned.
What's their family life like?
Answer: his mother was loving and very protective of him because of how different he was. She did however teach him how to defend himself at least a little. His father wasn't very good, being very power-hungry and self-centered along with being the king of the village. Merrick's father is the type that will do anything to make sure he's number one and most powerful which include harming Merrick and making him weaker by removing two of the three stones when he was a baby, nearly killing him in the process before his mother stopped him from removing the third and final stone.
Do they have a love interest?
Answer: he had a couple of interests in RP worlds and a couple of stories.
Do you have any stories written about them or that they're included in?
Answer: he is included in a couple of stories written by Spazziebunnie as commissioned stories. I plan to write a story with Merrick which would tie in to his backstory and going on a quest to avenge his father and be made whole again/gathering the two stones that were taken from him.
For the purpose of the OC interview the setting is the creator's OC is about to be interviewed by my co-owned OC Vicky Chola. A north american grey fox vixen in her mid 20s. They're both in a studio booth with headphones on and microphones to speak into. The interview we did earlier about the creator and their OC is considered a pre conversation between these two before going on the air. Vicky will ask questions based on the answers provided by the creator. Enjoy!
"Welcome everyone to another edition of the Characters of Zootopia show! I'm your host Vicky Chola and joining me today is Merrick Savage. Thank you for joining me Merrick."
"Hi Vicky, it's an honor to be here." trying to get comfortable in the chair
"So Merrick, I always like to get the obvious out of the way. Can you tell our audience a little about why you have the coloration your fur has?"
"Sure thing, the coloration on my fur is caused by these stones that are embedded into my knuckles as you can see." Raising up his right paw " The energy from each stone stained my fur permanently with the individual colors in an electrical pattern going up my arm... well I guess I can't say permanently if you manage to remove one of the stones the literal color that represents the stone you removed will disappear from my fur. Please don't remove one of the stones. It hurts like hell and it's extremely dangerous to the Mammal who's touching the stones. I do have a cracking black fur pattern on my chest which is covering scars that mimic that exact pattern. That's a different story altogether and not very pleasant."
"It sounds like the stones have been removed before or someone at least tried?"
"Yes, they have been removed before and I've had quite a few people try to remove them as an adult. Two of them were removed when I was a baby so I don't remember the pain from that apart from what my mom told me which was that I started to bleed not only from my paw but from my mouth, nose and ears before she stopped my father from removing the last one. My mother quickly figured out that it was killing me because the stones are attached to my genetic makeup."
"That's quite extreme. So you were actually born with them?"
"Correct." Giving a confirming nod
"Any idea what caused them?"
"Yeah I know what caused them... My dad made a deal with a demon god. He wanted to be the most powerful Wolf in our lands. That deal gave him all he wanted, which was just power... somehow that deal ended up affecting me. I think it was because that god thought my father wanted power for himself and to have an offspring who is powerful they carry on the legacy so to speak. That last part is just my theory, at least one that makes sense to me."
"Did you have to learn that on your own or did someone tell you?"
"I heard a small glimpse of it from my mother before she passed and after my quest to regain the stones that were removed when I was a baby, I found out the full details about that deal from my father and the demon in question."
"So did your father remove the stones for his own uses?"
"That was his original intention but he quickly found out he could use the stones the way he wanted to. According to my mom he try putting one of them onto his knuckles which kind of backfired. He kind of lost his left paw and had to make an artificial paw, so for anyone who wants to use my stones they will have to put it on some kind of staff or put it in a machine basically they can't be touching it to use it the way they want to. I think that's a safety mechanism and a good thing on my behalf that it's like that otherwise I probably wouldn't be standing here... or technically sitting here hahaha"
"Thank goodness for that. Did you or do you still suffer from anything related to having them removed?"
"No not really but the fur pattern on my chest kind of shows off what damage removing the stones can lead to. You see all three stones together balance each other out when the two that were moved for me were gone and the single stone had no counterbalance which meant that if I used that stone's power a little too much it caused severe damage to my body so underneath this cracked broken pattern on my chest are scars or burns from the power eating away at my body. I think if one of the stones is removed maybe it will cause more pain and problems but as long as they stay connected to me whatever damage was done, it's no longer an issue because my body was healed. If that makes sense to the viewers. On the off chance it doesn't, Think of my body as a reinforced flamethrower with all three stones attached if you remove the two you're basically replacing the proper flamethrower with a papier-mâché flamethrower... and we both know that doesn't work out very well when you try to use it. So to answer your question there's no lingering issues from them being removed once they're returned but if they are removed again it's basically undoing everything and that will suck."
"So what kind of capabilities do the stones provide?"
"Well all three of them can shoot energy blasts individually or simultaneously so that's the one thing they have in common together. The blue stone focuses primarily around elemental and matter manipulation. For example I would be able to manipulate a cup of water, have the water float in the air, make it change into different weapons, turn it to ice or make it completely vaporized. The purple one is pure power energy it could help me increase my speed My strength so it's more Weaponized for fighting. The pink one it's kind of more magic based defensive like if somebody were to be poisoned I will be able to use the pink stone to isolate the poison to either remove it from the victim or speed up the process of the poison within the victim. Of course I haven't got a chance to fully push each individual stone so potentially they might have some hidden secrets that I don't even know... that's kind of how life is right there's always secrets to be discovered even if you think you discovered all the secrets."
"Have you ever tried to practice using the stone? Mastering their abilities and trying new things?"
"I haven't got a chance to fully practice using them lately. I've been trying to do some meditation to clear my mind before trying to find out what more the stones can do."
"What kind of meditation?"
"There's more than one type of meditation?" He tilts his head
giggles "I meant what are you doing to meditate. Are you sitting in a garden humming till you float in the air or something as simple as studying."
"Ooooh haha I'm definitely doing the sitting in the garden humming to myself, sometimes I don't hum to myself and just have my eyes closed and sit not moving for hours."
"Me too, I call it napping though. Do you experience anything you'd like to share while meditating?"
"I don't know anyone who can take a nap while sitting straight up without falling over. Haha I do have something to share when it comes to meditating I've noticed my stones would glow off and on, I can see that with my eyes close and occasionally I will feel electricity bounce around my body of course every time I open my eyes it stops so I'm kind of curious to know what that means and hopefully one day I'll find out."
"Hopefully you don't just explode one day. So what do you use your powers for?"
"Well nowadays I use my powers for self-defense but the other day I tried using it for cooking... didn't end very well the blasted turkey well got blasted haha"
laughs "I bet that was a sight to see. Have you thought about using your powers to help others?"
he laughs "The poor thing went flying and turned into Ash I had to go hunting for another turkey after that. Hahaha of course I have actually helped a couple of villages. If I hear something bad happening I can't ignore it."
"May it rest in peace-s. How do you hear about others needing help?"
"Well in my world a bunch of screaming and random objects flying or explosions are kind of a dead giveaway."
"I guess what I'm asking is how broad of an area do you cover to help others."
"The broad of the area I cover would be the size of a big city since I never really stay in one spot for too long. It does change day after day... it helps that I can pretty much launch myself so I can cover more areas... still trying to improve the landing." He nervously laughs
"What's the farthest you've been able to jump?"
"Well I got two answers do you want to hear the one that was a safe landing or not safe landing" gives a big smile
"Well, I did say the farthest so let's go with how far you can really go and what the consequences are."
"About a mile with me crashing into whatever object happens to be in the way... like a mountain haha. I guess the main consequence for jumping so far is that I can't see as far as I can jump so I don't know if there's something that I might end up hitting which is why it's probably a good idea to not jump so far if you can't see that far ahead."
"Literally leaping without looking. So let's talk about something other than powers and stuff. What about your personal life? How has having the stones affected you there?"
"I guess my personal life is kind of normal. I sometimes cover them up just to feel normal and not be stared at."
"Have you ever been rejected because of the stones?"
"Yeah I had"
"Can you tell us how that felt? Was it different from being rejected for any other reason?"
"Well it feels horrible being judged for something that you were born with, that you didn't ask to have. I think being rejected and having so many mammals treat you like an outsider because of how different you are from them is so bad. Like the energy from the stones has stained my fur permanently even if I cover the stones I get weird looks so by extension I need to wear long sleeve shirts to look normal. Normally when somebody is rejected for something the individual who is rejected can bounce back and fix and work on whatever causes the rejection in the first place. Sadly I don't have that ability or chance. If I remove the stones I die all I can do is cover them up but that's temporary and it doesn't change the fact that the second I show someone they see me as a freak or a weirdo. That's how I feel when I get rejected."
"Have you found anyone who looks past that and is interested in you for who you are?"
slowly smiling " Took a while but I did find someone."
"Care to divulge?"
"Haha well her name is Rika. She's the most beautiful vixen I've ever seen and this was a surprise to me when I found out but she's also a kitsune. she's able to hide her tails so you would never have guessed she is one. Apparently kitsunes are all over zootopia just looking normal."
"Can you tell us a little more about her?"
"Absolutely, the first thing is that she's very sweet but brutally honest haha. Being around her I can feel calm and safe and she's very strong-willed along with being very smart so she is constantly teaching me so many things, even the things that you would think Animals would automatically know. Although she can be scary when she's infuriated for a lack of a better term but I don't find myself running away. I think of her as the ultimate foundation. She has all the tools and materials to keep me grounded while also building me up. I remember her telling me there's no such thing as perfect to me she feels like she could be the definition of perfect of course that's how I see it." He gives a big smile "she's definitely taught me that it feels good to fall in love and learn about love... it's just like a similar feeling when I had my mom still around."
"How long have you two been together?"
"It's been about 11 months and a few days so almost a year."
"Sounds like you two are in pretty deep. Any chance we'll be hearing wedding bells soon?"
he immediately starts blushing "W-well maybe? Hehe"
"Well since we're on the subject, since you're of different species are there any cultural differences that you've had to overcome or work through?"
"In the beginning there was a lot of misunderstanding but that is mainly my fault because of how I grew up or lack of teaching to be perfectly accurate. Of course with us being different species on top of being raised in two different universities before meeting, there were a lot of questions being asked as well. A good portion of the questions came from me since I didn't really have knowledge about anything else. So I guess there were a couple of things to overcome and work through."
"Have either of you ever done anything that angered the other?"
"Yeaaaaah... I would be lying if I said no haha like I said earlier which goes hand-in-hand with this question because of how I was growing and in the environment I was in there's a lot of things I don't know which led to a lot of infuriating misunderstandings."
"How did the two of you manage to work through those misunderstandings?"
"An ungodly amount of patients on her end clearly. After almost a year I think she knows that I try not to purposely anger her. Some of the things I've done we're out of good intentions. It's just I end up messing it up...like trying to do her laundry which didn't end very well. That would be a perfect example apparently women's clothing are delicate" he nervously laughs
Looks at the camera "Let that be a lesson to all males. Well, I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Thank you for joining us today Merrick."
