Four of them are now walking to school together since Teitan Elementary and High School are close to each other. Haibara and Conan talk about yesterday's heist while Ran and Shinichi talk about their school stuffs. Suddenly the three grade schooler friends run to them
"Good morning Conan-kun, Ai-chan" said Ayumi greeting both of her friends
"Ah good morning" said both Conan and Haibara
"Good morning too Ran-oneesan and Shinichi-oniisan"
"Good morning" said both Ran and Shinichi
They then walk together and of course the three kids are talking loudly about Kaitou Kid heist last night, especially Genta who shout the loudest. Moments later, they notice that it's time for the high schooler to split up
"Well we're going okay, have fun at school" said Ran to the group of kids
"Yes!" shout the three friends
At Teitan High School
Shinichi was trample by his classmates as usual. All of them are basically asking about his case at the Haido mansion, leaving Ran sitting on her chair
"Good morning Ran!" said Sonoko happily
"Ah good morning Sonoko"
Suddenly they look that Shinichi sit and start opening his science book
"Eh that's rare for you to study?" asked Sonoko
"I have a bet, why I even suggest cleaning the bathroom" said Shinichi unhappy
"Bet with the brat with glasses?"
"Yes… Last time when they have a bet, Shinichi lose since Conan-kun got perfect score" said Ran with giggle
"Hahaha that brat is too smart for his age after all"
"Sometimes I feel like I'm having a twin rather than a little brother..." said Shinichi while looking at his book
Time Skip~
Shinichi already arrive home since he didn't have soccer practice. He take off his uniform and start preparing for dinner since Conan ask him to. He turns on the TV to see the news which surprisingly about another Kid heist will be held on Friday, Shinichi was calm until the announcer tell that Suzuki Jirokichi have requested full team of Detective Boys cooperation for the next heist. That caught Shinichi off guard since the one that he always call is only Conan but why he requested full team. When he was thinking, suddenly the door opens and shut very hard, showing Conan with a sweat and panting tiredly
"I'm... I'm home…"
"Oh... Welcome back, what's wrong?" asked Shinichi surprised
"See for yourself" said Conan while pointing the door
Shinichi goes to the door and when he opens the flashes of camera and flood by the reporters
"Kudou Shinichi-san! Give us your thoughts about the Kid heist!" "Kudou-san! Tell us what you think about Kid Killer next plan for capturing Kaitou Kid!" shout the reporters
"NO COMMENT! It's almost night, please go home!" shout Shinichi while slamming the door
"What a protective guardian" said one of the reporter unhappy
Shinichi close the door and see Conan lying on floor panting tiredly. Shinichi bend down and see his brother face behind those glasses
"You alive?" asked Shinichi while poking his cheek with his finger
"Well… You could say that…" said Conan as he put his arm on his eyes
"What's going on actually? Suddenly Jirokichi-san announce that he needed Detective Boys help"
"I will tell everything later… Just don't ask me like those reporters, okay?"
"Fine fine… Get up and take a bath, dinner will be ready soon"
"What today's dinner?"
"Curry"
"Of course..."
Shinichi slightly glare at the boy by his remark which the boy just smirk
Time Skip~
After dinner, Shinichi and Conan sit on the sofa, with Conan using his laptop to access the message to give a full picture of the heist
"Before I take a bath, I message Jirokichi-ojiisan about the notice in detail… Here" said Conan as he showed the challenge notice to Shinichi
"Hmmm… On the night of the next full moon at 7 PM, I'll be paying a visit to receive Kirin's horn signed Kaitou Kid… P.S, this time let us cease the child's play and engage in battle as adults" said Shinichi as he read the notice
"Jirokichi-ojiisan said that he revealed his weakness that he will have a hard time doing his heist since he can't disguise as kids"
"That's quite possible… But why he told about his weakness so bluntly"
"That what I was thinking the whole time… Well Detective Boys are happy about it while Haibara also felt something weird"
"Hmmm… Should I come this time?"
"Eh? Why suddenly?"
"I found it interesting as well"
"Let me call Jirokichi-ojiisan"
Conan ask if Shinichi can join the heist but what a surprised when Jirokichi denied the request since he just wanted pure Detective Boys, himself, the TV crew and police only. Shinichi can only laugh about it since can't be helped, it's not his jurisdiction in detective view
"That's a bummer, the last time you see me chasing Kaitou Kid properly is at the Suzuki cruise when he disguised as Ran-neechan. You never properly see me fight him again after that" said Conan pouting
"And that was also your first heist, since then you are known as Kid Killer. I always meet him with you, but we can't count those times a heist huh..."
"Hahaha…"
"Well I can only advise you, stay on guard and beware of anything… I think he will be taking advantage of this situation unlike what you guys thought" said Shinichi serious
"I will…"
There was a silence between brothers until suddenly Conan let out a paper which Shinichi realize, he then run to his room and return with a paper
"Ready?" asked Conan smirking
"as you are…1"
"2"
"3!"
Both of them let out their papers which showed Conan got score 98 while Shinichi got 97 which reveal that Conan wins the bet
"YOSHA!" shout Conan happily
"AHH! I lose again!" said Shinichi hitting his head on the table
"Hehehe good luck cleaning the toilet"
"What a little brother you are"
Time skip~
It was Friday evening, Conan is getting ready to go to the heist place with his new parka that Jirokichi-san made for them
"Woah, DB… Detective Boys huh" said Shinichi seeing the parka
"Yeah, but color is too bright" said Conan unhappy
"Get used to it since you need to wear bright colors every Kid heist"
"You're right, you are going to Ran-neechan house?"
"Yeah, Ran insisted on having dinner with her since Sonoko is also there and watch your heist. Tell the driver to drop you at Mouri Detective Agency, I have a feeling we will be staying there today"
"Hehehe okay then"
Both Kudou brothers sometimes stay at Mouri Detective Agency, but mostly Conan did since every time Shinichi have to go out of town for cases or helping the police until midnight, Ran insisted on looking after Conan which he's already get used to since he's also comfortable at Ran's home. Suddenly they heard a car horn, which to be the TV crew. Shinichi and Conan comes out and saw that Haibara is already near the car and the three kids are inside the car. Conan wanted to go inside the car until stop by Shinichi
"Be careful okay… use your detective senses properly" said Shinichi looking at his brother
"I will, see you later tonight"
"Ahh!"
Shinichi look the car drove away, and then he locked his house gate and goes to Ran's home. When he arrived, he saw Kogoro drinking as usual while Sonoko and Ran already in front of the TV
"You're late Shinichi-kun!" shout Sonoko
"Sorry sorry, I have to wait until Conan get pick up by the TV crew" said Shinichi while sitting on the sofa right next to Ran
"Oi detective kid, why didn't you go to the heist with the brat in glasses" said Kogoro while drunk
"I can't, Jirokichi-san didn't let me go there Kogoro-san"
"Eh you want to go to the heist as well?" asked Ran surprised
"That's rare since you never go to Kid heist" said Sonoko surprised as well
"I don't know, I just got a bad feeling ever since I read that notice" said Shinichi while looking at the TV
"Notice? Oh! You mean Kid-sama notice"
"But why?" asked Ran concerned
"It's weird that magician reveal his weakness so bluntly" said Shinichi while looking at the ladies
Both girls understand what he meant and also start to doubt it. Shinichi just hope that it's just him being paranoia. He watched the TV which reveal the five Detective Boys, Shinichi sees that Conan not really happy being on TV which make him laugh looking at it. He looked at the time which is almost time and Shinichi saw that the four friends are separated to protect something while his brother just at the center where the Kirin's horn is. Suddenly the TV got black, which surprised three high schoolers
"Oi what's wrong with the TV?" asked Sonoko
"It's never broke before so-"
Suddenly they heard voices from the TV crew, Shinichi then assumed that the place is having a blackout over there. He looked at the time which is right on time and at the same time he hears the pillar of Kirin's horn opening up. He was calm until he looked at an electricity and certain scream which make Shinichi's blood boils and standing up
"Oi… That's the brat in glasses voice right" said Sonoko who looks surprised
"CONAN-KUN! Hang in there CONAN-KUN!" shout Ayumi on the TV
They see a flash lights up the pillar which shows that the Kirin's horn already stolen but Shinichi doesn't see the kids which make him want the place lights up to see his brother. The lights went on and sees it, his brother lying there right in front of the pillar with Detective Boys surrounding them. When he shouts his brother's name, the show change into something else
"Shinichi… calm down"
"THAT PHANTOM THIEF JUST KNOCKED OUT CONAN!" shout Shinichi angrily
"But we can't do anything! We just have to wait for the news came back" said Sonoko calming him down
Shinichi glare at the TV in anger
"Kaitou Kid… How dare you!" shout Shinichi in his thoughts
Time Skip~
The news never get back on so Sonoko uses her family name to get information and turns out that Kid disguise as Nakamori-keibu and knocked out Conan to make him go to the hospital so that he can steal the Kirin's horn properly, but it was backfired when Detective Boys found out his identity and cornered him. It also said that Conan kick him out and put his own card that was on the parka's back to let the police know about him
"At least Conan-kun is safe, so it should be fine" said Ran calming Shinichi
"Hm…" said Shinichi who just look so angry
"He's angry…" thought both Ran and Sonoko together
Suddenly the door comes in which shows Conan with the parka on his hand
"I'm home!" said Conan
"Welcome back Conan-k-" said Ran stands but Shinichi already dash toward him
"Let me see that stun gun bruise" said Shinichi serious
Conan open his shirt and Shinichi saw the two dotes bruise thanks to the stun gun on his back. Conan didn't realize how angry Shinichi is when seeing that bruise on his back
"Are you alright?" asked Shinichi while tucking his shirt back
"Um! It turns out he uses me for putting the jewel"
"Yeah we know, we ask Sonoko to get information" said Shinichi
"Well then since you are here, let's eat dinner then. Shinichi, Conan-kun please help take my father to upstairs" said Ran while running with Sonoko
"Ahh…" said Shinichi who still staring at his brother
Ran and Sonoko goes upstairs, leaving the brothers at the agency
"What's wrong?" asked Conan look at his brother confused
"You just give me a heart attack…"
"Sorry, I didn't expect that he will use one of us as a carrier for the jewel and use the other four to open the pillar"
"This is why I hate that magician… At least you are alright…" said Shinichi while patting his head
"Of course, I'm the little brother of the high school detective Kudou Shinichi after all" said Conan proudly which make Shinichi giggle at him
"Yeah yeah and here I am just the older brother of the famous Kid Killer, Edogawa Conan"
The both brothers smile and start to lift Kogoro up to his room since he already asleep due to too much drinking. Shinichi who was carrying Kogoro look at Conan in front of him which is resolved to do something.
Two weeks after the Kirin's horn heist
At night, Shinichi and Conan are at home. Conan is doing the dishes while Shinichi is cleaning the table, suddenly Shinichi's phone rings and look at it with an evil smile until Conan realize it
"Oi, what are you doing?" asked Conan while washing the dishes
"Eh ah sorry sorry, just got a message from Megure-keibu"
"I see…"
Shinichi then goes to the living room and called someone in serious tone. Conan tried to overhear, but the sound is too vague so he can't understand anything but one thing's for sure, he can sense that his brother looks like about to kill someone
"What is he planning to?" thought Conan looking at his big brother
The next day
Shinichi drop Conan off to Ran since she knows what Shinichi is going to do but Conan on the other hand only know that he have something to do at the police headquarters
"I don't think I will be back until after midnight, so you stay at Ran's okay" said Shinichi bend down to Conan size
"Okay then, murder case?" said Conan look at his brother
"No, just giving testimony and helping Megure-keibu on something"
"Okay then, be careful"
Shinichi wave at both Ran and Conan and start running with a grim smile. Conan who see Shinichi running suddenly look down and his glasses become white
"Let's go inside Conan-kun" said Ran
"Okay Ran-neechan!" said Conan looked at Ran with a smile
As both of them goes inside, Conan on the other hand just let out smirk
"What a liar" thought Conan
Time Skip~
At Police Headquarters Heliport
Shinichi run to the helicopter and see Inspector Megure waiting for him
"Sorry for the wait Megure-keibu" said Shinichi
"It's fine, let's go" said Inspector Megure smile to him
Both Shinichi and Inspector Megure goes in the helicopter, and it's take off from the heliport. Shinichi then look around until he found the certain tower with two helicopters around it, and it shines brightly with lights.
"So where do you want to go?" asked Inspector Megure
"To where Kaitou Kid heist is held"
Flashback
Conan looks at Shinichi who call someone seriously, Shinichi was talking with Sonoko
"Are you sure about this Sonoko?" asked Shinichi
"Yeah, I got the news just now from Jirokichi-ojiisan. But since it was not his property, so he will not join the fight. The target is the clock tower, I think he wanted to steal the jewel that was inside the clock hands"
"You think? You mean you are not sure his motive?"
"Yeah… Because he just said clock tower instead of jewel"
"I see, thank you Sonoko"
Shinichi give a vibe about to kill someone when hearing the information from Sonoko
Back to present
Shinichi take out his laptop and quickly look at the map that he was given. Inspector Megure look surprised by the map layout
"Kudou-kun?" asked Inspector Megure surprised
"Megure-keibu, I might borrow your authority for this one day if you don't mind" said Shinichi smirk as he quickly dialed someone
"Wait Kudou-kun, what are you-"
"Hello? This is Kudou Shinichi"
Few moments later
Shinichi was looking at the laptop serious, and he happened to overhear the officer that's now questioning other officer when he found Kid costume
"Do you mind asking his ID number as well, if he answers fluently then without a doubt he's Kid" said Shinichi through the communication
As Shinichi predicted, the officer tell his ID number fluently which of course they are now chasing him out. Shinichi give full instructions to the officers to catch the phantom thief
"I repeat, seal all exits from the tower immediately. He will have nowhere to run and make sure anyone leaves has a valid authorization" said Shinichi smirking behind the helmet lenses
On the other place
"There, it's him!" shout the officer inside the vent
Kaitou Kid that still wearing his officer disguise can't help to be surprised by the sharpness of the team
"Oi oi that keibu sure is sharp today! Wait, maybe it isn't him behind this but who… That brat doesn't the authority to order, so it shouldn't be him. Hakuba is still out of town… Then who?" thought Kaitou Kid as he tried to escape
Back to the helicopter
Inspector Megure can't help to get awe by Shinichi fluent instructions for the officers to catch the thief. Suddenly his phone rings which of course the inspector who actually leading the force to catch Kaitou Kid is angry at him
"I'm sorry I'm sorry, I did promise him to let him ride in the helicopter" said Inspector Megure apologize
"Who is it?!" shout Inspector Nakamori
Shinichi quickly take Inspector Megure's phone
"Keibu, I don't mean to interrupt your operation, but we don't have time to fight. If you want to catch that bastard phantom thief, then you have to listen to me. His plans have been disrupted since he couldn't reach the top level, so this is the best time to catch him" said Shinichi serious
"Wait a minute… Don't tell me, you are…" said Inspector Nakamori in surprised
"Long time no see, Nakamori-keibu. My name is Kudou Shinichi, a detective"
"KUDOU-KUN?! Wait… Why are you- don't tell me Conan-kun is there as well?!"
"No, I'm alone now and Conan doesn't know about this heist. Let me be Kid Killer's replacement for the day, so you have to believe me. Since I am, Kid Killer's relative so you can trust me 100%"
The officer quickly ask for instruction to Shinichi which he quickly told him to continue the pursuit. The officer told him that Kid already take off his disguise on the fourth floor, so Inspector Nakamori told the rest to get him
On the other side
Kaitou Kid is looking at the sleeping officer smirking as he looked up to the tower
"Hello, where are you right now?" asked Kaitou Kid to his partner
Kid who hearing the situation then smirk as he found out the unexpected help. He turn off the communication and look up to the helicopter
"I see… Then, I will gladly settle the score today, Meitantei" said Kaitou Kid smirking
At Mouri Detective Agency
The clock shows to be 11:50 PM, Conan sneak out of his room assuming both Ran and Kogoro are already asleep to the agency below and turn on the TV. He looked that the news is reporting live from the clock tower heist
"Hm! I knew it he would go there" said Conan gave a little smile
Suddenly the agency lights on which shows Ran with her pajamas looking at Conan who's watching the news. Ran was taken by surprised because Shinichi said he didn't tell Conan about the heist and ask her not to tell until he come back tomorrow
"Conan-kun, you knew about it?"
"Ran-neechan also knows huh… That baka high school detective doesn't let me see TV or hear the radio yesterday. Not to mention I can't find my phone all day like he prevents me to see something on the news. I figure it has to do something with a case, so I secretly bug him just before we went here, on the way he was on the phone and I overheard that he's talking to one of the Nakamori-keibu subordinates and ask for the clock tower map layout"
Ran comes inside and then sit right beside Conan
"That's why I figure that tonight there's a Kaitou Kid heist, and he doesn't let me go there. Well if Sonoko-neechan doesn't go with Ran-neechan, so I figured that Jirokichi-ojiisan is not involved, right?" asked Conan looking at Ran
"You are indeed that baka detective's brother, you got it all right"
"But why would he do that? I mean Kid heist is my specialty" said Conan while squeeze his pants in slight anger
"Conan-kun… Shinichi is in your position now that time" said Ran while touching his cheek
Conan looked at Ran's face in surprised by her words
"He really cares for you and will do anything if you're hurt. When he saw you got knocked out by Kaitou Kid, Shinichi resolve to revenge to that Kid himself without you knowing. He shows a scary look like he wanted to kill someone, right?"
"Y-yeah…"
"It means he's angry and ready to revenge. He is always like that ever since he was your age" said Ran remembering
Suddenly the clock bells which shows that it's already midnight, and they look serious until a smoke bomb cover the clock, as the smoke goes away the clock hands were missing which surprised both Conan and Ran
"How did he even get it?!" said Ran surprised seeing the news
"There must be a trick, since it is big, so he must be cover it" said Conan looking at the TV
Suddenly one helicopter comes closer which shows that Conan deduction right, there is something covering the clock, moments later the cover are gone and shows Nakamori-keibu angry at the helicopter
"So he failed huh… as expected of him" said Conan fold his hands
"You're still angry Conan-kun?"
"A little but since it already happened, so I can't do anything about it… let's go to bed Ran-neechan"
Ran goes to her room and wave Conan. Conan goes to Kogoro's room and getting ready to sleep.
As he wanted to close his eyes, suddenly he felt a sudden wind coming inside the room, he gets up and see the phantom thief on the window. He was surprised and quickly but with no voice goes to the roof. When he arrived to the roof, he saw the phantom thief in annoyed look
"What are you doing here Kid?" asked Conan serious and surprised meeting his enemy
"Today's heist is too intense, he almost made me got captured by the police… That brother of yours. I'm rather fighting with you instead of him" said Kid in annoyed voice
"So you know about us being brothers, how?"
Kid let out a picture of him and Shinichi going to school and both of them in a murder case together
"I already suspect you two are brothers since you two have an identical face. When I disguise as him for getting information from the police headquarters, I meet Megure-keibu and he asked me-"
"How's your brother, Conan?" said Conan as if he read his mind
"Ping pong, that moment confirmed it that you two are blood brothers"
Conan just sigh by the thief's explanation and he looked at him
"To be honest, I don't know about today's heist. He kept it a secret from me about it, so I was keep in the dark about the whole situation. It's the first time he touched my jurisdiction and I don't know why" said Conan as he got into thinking mode
"I was surprised as well that he fight me, and he almost never come to my heists like you did. My partner happened to get the transmission of the helicopter and overheard their conversation to which he told me the reason" said Kaitou Kid as he smiled
"Eh?"
Flashback
In the helicopter
"But why you suddenly want to help this Kid heist, you usually let Conan-kun do it" said Megure while looking at the clock tower map
"Just giving him a taste of my real power if he ever knocked out Conan again. Sorry Megure-keibu to ask such weird request" said Shinichi apologize to Megure
"It's fine, you love him too much Kudou-kun"
"I do everything for him even though my life is at stake" said Shinichi smiling satisfied
Back to present
Conan blush hearing what the phantom thief just said. He can't help to smile hearing that his brother will do anything for him, so he hid his mouth with his hand
"You have a very doting big brother… Just like yourself who is a doting little brother" said Kid in mocking voice
"What do you mean by that?!" asked Conan surprised
"You also protect him like crazy brother you are, when someone tells bad things about that detective, you will always mad back at them"
"Ho-HOW IN- okay never mind, I forgot that you are a stalker"
"But he gave me a lesson today. Never messed with you anymore or else I will be going to prison for the next heist"
As Kaitou Kid say that, he jumped from the roof and fly toward the moonlight. Conan sees him flying while thinking about his brother before he went back inside the house
Time Skip~
Conan says goodbye to both Kogoro and Ran for letting him stay for tonight, and he dashed toward his house with his skateboard. When he arrives, he open the door which he looked that the shoe is place untidy which make him sigh
"Too tired to know around huh…" said Conan while putting Shinichi's shoes to the shoe locker and put his shoes beside Shinichi's
He comes in and peek at his room which shows that he's asleep loudly. He slowly close the door and put Ran's breakfast for him on the table. Conan goes to the library and pick up one of the Holmes book, and he sat on the chair
As he was reading, Kaitou Kid's and Ran's words linger on his mind. He can't help to smile while reading the book. He read without knowing time until suddenly someone open the door
"There you are, I've been looking all over" said Shinichi with casual clothes
Conan surprised and look at the clock, it turns out he has been reading for four hours straight. He close the book and look at Shinichi who's holding two cups
"It's been a while seeing you reading here" said Shinichi giving him a cup of tea
"Thanks, yeah it's been a while"
Both of them drink the tea quietly until Conan put the cup on the table and look at his brother
"How is it? Fighting with that phantom thief?" asked Conan
Shinichi who hears that spit out his coffee and cough. He was slightly surprised that Conan knows that he was at Kid heist last night
"How…"
"Bug at your sleeves, suddenly doesn't let me watch TV or hear radio for a day and can I have my phone back?" asked Conan with lazy eyes
"Ah sorry, here"
Conan check his phone to see any messages or other things. Shinichi look at his brother closely and wait for his reaction
"Is there something on my face?" asked Conan lazily while looking at his phone
"You're not angry?" asked Shinichi
"A little, but after that phantom thief tells what really happen. I can only say you are a devil"
"Hahahaha… I'm not going to ask when did you meet him"
Conan put his phone on the table and face his brother with a serious look which Shinichi catch dumbfounded
"As a compensation for letting you taking my jurisdiction, you let me take over yours on one case" said Conan serious
"O-oi-"
"I actually already have one in mind"
Conan shows his phone showing a message from a certain Osaka friend of them
"Let me take this case with Hattori, I think I can invite Ran-neechan and Kogoro-ojiisan as my guardian and my alias" said Conan serious
"Sure, around that time I think I have a back to back soccer match, so I can't join you, I don't mind since I can ensure your safety with Hattori" said Shinichi
"Good"
"And you sure want to do that again? If Ran knows, she will be very angry. I mean, you did knock out her father and use his voice with your voice changer bowtie to tell your deduction to the police and the culprit"
"Ran-neechan will never know, trust me"
"Fine"
Shinichi sit on the table while Conan who sit on the chair just look away with slight blush on his cheek
"Hm? What's wrong Conan?" asked Shinichi surprised
"Nothing…" said Conan
Conan jumps from the chair and go toward the door. Before he closes the door he looked at Shinichi but this time his face is blushing red
"Thank you for taking care of me, Shinichi-niichan"
Shinichi was surprised by Conan's words, but Conan quickly shut the door. Shinichi can't help to smile, satisfied by his actions
