Shinichi who is now looking at the papers very pale while held a phone on his hand and at different place, Conan who's showing shock and hopelessness look while looking a thing in front of him in the dark place
"No… there's have to be other way so-"
"There's no other way Shinichi-niichan… in order to save other people, I have to read the hint and Takagi-keiji sending the hint message to Sato-keiji. It's for the best… I'm sorry" said Conan while looking down
"Don't…" said Shinichi in anger

Shinichi and Conan now at the living room with Shinichi showing a bunch of files to Conan
"It's been three years yet we can't find the criminal behind this bombing who threaten the police" said Shinichi while putting the files on the table
"Yeah… so how's you research for the case files?" asked Conan while sipping a cup of coffee
Shinichi put some papers and pictures on the table which to be the files about the bombing case, he seems borrowed it from Inspector Megure
"The first bombing case happen seven years ago at an apartment in Tokyo. The victims were mostly from the bomb defusing team who happen to be there to defuse the bombs. The defused bomb suddenly activate again with three seconds before it exploded. The second one is three years ago at the Ferris wheel which take one victim which is a police officer from the 1st division that was suppose to defuse the bomb"
"Eh? he tried to defuse the bomb?"
"Yeah, from the information I got from Megure-keibu, that officer is a former bomb defusing team before he moved to 1st division so that's why he can do it… though what they think"
Shinichi then sit right beside Conan and take a sip from his cup of coffee
"The bomber put a message on the bomb says that there is a bigger bomb planted and the hint for the place will showed three seconds before the bomb exploded. That officer stay behind to look at the hint which lead them to the next place which they can save the people from it. The place that the bomber plant is at Beika Central Hospital" said Shinichi while showing a picture of a bomb from the Beika Central Hospital
"I see… the serial bomber really do love three seconds" said Conan looking at the paper
"Yeah and then this code just came today…"
"Eh?"
"The bombing case of seven years ago and three years ago have one common. It's on 6th January"
Conan look surprised and see the his watch which to be 5th January
"Oi that's tomorrow right?!" shout Conan
"Ahh… not to mention, tomorrow I have National Mock Exams which make me can't really join the investigation" said Shinichi unhappy
"Ahahaha" laugh Conan by Shinichi's misfortune
Conan look at the code seriously and try to understand what it means words by words. Suddenly a realization comes in after reading the code carefully. Before he says anything, Shinichi already cut him off
"Trains… red trains, you think that right?" asked Shinichi looking at Conan
"What, you already solve it" said Conan unhappy with the fact
"Well it's the result talking with Megure-keibu, for now the police are checking every red trains and other possible places like baseball field since the code mention extra inning. I just hope it goes well"
Shinichi stand up and look outside the window showing the night sky, Conan see his brother acting weird when he said about the trains and baseball field
"There's something lacking huh?" asked Conan to his brother
"Ahh, I can't let it get out from me... I think I should just study for tomorrow exams. Don't sleep too late okay, you maybe want to investigate more about this case with your team right"
"Oh!"
Shinichi goes into his room leaving Conan alone at the living room with the paper code and police files about the bombing seven years ago and three years ago
Time Skip~
One hour before Noon Deadline
Conan and his friends are now with Detective Takagi in the police car, the grade schoolers secretly went into Detective Takagi's car to listen more about the case and the updates but he said that mostly the bombs at the train are fake and they didn't find anything at the Baseball fields. Conan look at the code again to think of other decipher until suddenly when the three kids are pointing at Touto Tower
"Touto… tower… I SEE!" shout Conan inside the car
At Teitan High School
Shinichi drop his head on the table tiredly due to the exams. He open his phone to check any updates from Conan which there's not so he look at the code again to think of other place.
"What is that Shinichi-kun?" asked Sonoko who look at the detective
"Ah it's the case I have been following… I'm just looking at it again to recheck"
"Even at mock exam, you still thinking about case… huhhh" said Ran sigh toward his childhood friend
"Ahh at the time like this, I want to go to Touto Tower to see the view of Tokyo instead of doing this exams" said Sonoko who's irritated after exams
"Touto Tower… AH!" shout Shinichi
"Eh what's wrong Shinichi?" asked Ran to Shinichi who suddenly scream
Shinichi quickly dial Inspector Megure to tell about the code, the inspector who just hear about it hurriedly order the bomb defusing team to quickly go toward Touto Tower. Shinichi close his call and quickly call Conan, but his brother didn't answer his phone. When Shinichi want to call again suddenly the teacher comes in and tell them to get ready for the next exam
"Please… make it" thought Shinichi looking toward outside the school
At Touto Tower
A smoke comes out from the tower which confirmed that it is the place of the next bombing. Detective Takagi start to go inside Touto tower. Conan who can't sit still also comes out from the car
"You're going too?" asked Ayumi
"I just going to check it out, you guys stay here to guard the police car in case the bomber tried to put the bomb here"
"But..." said Mitsuhiko unsure
"It's okay, even without me, you guys are still Detective Boys right?" said Conan assuring his friends
After Conan said that he goes straight to the Touto Tower. Haibara on the other hand looking at the running boy in cold look
"I hope he doesn't heard it… that devil voice" thought Haibara
Back to Teitan High School
All the students are now doing their exams seriously except for one person who practically worried. Why? Because the police helicopter are still flying very hearable to all of them. Shinichi look at the teacher who are looking after them seems to be listening to the news on the radio as well because he was looking outside the whole time
Shinichi can't focus on doing his exam due to uncertain feeling he's having right now. He tried to shake it off but he still feel something bad is going to happen. As on cue, one teacher open their classroom door which surprised the rest of the classroom
"Kudou Shinichi-kun… bring your exam paper to the teacher's office right now" said the teacher seriously
"Eh?" said all in the classroom surprised and start to whisper
"Everyone be quiet! Kudou-kun, go"
Shinichi was surprised so he take his paper and stationary and goes out from the class. Sonoko and Ran seems confused because the teacher never do this before. Shinichi close the door and the teacher run which make him also run. As he arrived to the office, another teacher with a phone held on his hand looking at the high schooler serious
"Uhh... what is going on?" asked Shinichi
"I'm sorry to interrupt your exam Kudou-kun but it's an emergency" said the teacher
The teacher give him the phone and told him to sit down. Shinichi held to his ears which he heard a slight panic breathing which he can identified who's breathing is it
"Conan!" shout Shinichi
"Shinichi-niichan…" said Conan from the phone
"What's going on?! Try to breath normally…"
The teacher open a laptop which shows Inspector Megure on video call
"Kudou-kun… right now Takagi-kun and Conan-kun are stuck at the elevator on the Touto Tower and at the elevator roof there's a bomb"
Shinichi was shock hearing what Inspector Megure said to him
"Conan notice that there's a mercury lever in the bomb. The only way for them to survive is to defuse the bomb but Takagi can't go to the roof which only leaves one person to defuse the bomb" said Inspector Megure with serious tone to calm the high school detective down
"I see… and to ease him down so that he can defuse it, you ask me to calm him down and you guys want me to give him instructions to defuse the bomb, right?"
"Yes… you're the only one who can do it Kudou-kun, please for the sake of Tokyo"
Shinichi just nod after hearing what the Inspector said, the teacher give him a handout of the bomb layout and how to defuse it
"Conan… can you hear me?" asked Shinichi calming his brother
"Ah… I think so…"
"Don't worry… we already read and watch how to defuse a bomb remember, also it's not different from the airship hijacked"
"It's different! That bomb is just a small plastic bomb, this one is different! Not to mention Kaito Kid just stay there and didn't help at all and you were knock out with Kogoro-ojiisan that time!" shout Conan slightly angry
"Finally you calm down.."
Conan was surprised hearing Shinichi's words and can't help to smile after hearing what his brother did. Seconds later, the team give Conan the equipment to defuse the bomb and luckily he knows what each equipment are suppose to do
"You ready buddy?" asked Shinichi serious
"Yeah… let's do it" said Conan while putting an earphone thorough his ear to listen Shinichi's instruction
Shinichi take one of the earphone to hear the instruction from the defusing bomb team so that he can give the exact instruction to Conan calmly. Shinichi wait for Conan to reply, he can also hear Takagi ask Conan. Shinichi seems restless until he heard Conan ask to continue the procedure
Shinichi start to get calm since it's only three more wires to go. Suddenly he heard something fall to the floor on Conan's side
"Oi Conan?" asked Shinichi
"Shinichi-niichan, Takagi-keiji… there's something I want to discuss…"
"Eh?" said both Shinichi and Takagi on the phone
"To the brave policeman…"
Takagi and Shinichi was shock hearing Conan recite those words. Shinichi drop the papers to the ground which surprised the teachers
"This is a price for your courage… A hint about the location of the much bigger, game ending, firework will be displayed three seconds before the explosion… Good luck"
Shinichi bend to the chair and look shock hearing the recited words. Shinichi hold his head in desperation and anger at the same time.
"To prevent that… Takagi-keiji and I have to stay here to see the hint" said Conan in low voice
Takagi understand what Conan means. Which means they have to repeat what Matsuda did three years ago to save other people from the bomb
"No… there's have to be other way so-" shout Shinichi in anger
"There's no other way Shinichi-niichan… in order to save other people, I have to read the hint and Takagi-keiji sending the hint message to Sato-keiji. It's for the best… I'm sorry" said Conan while looking down
"Don't…"
He quickly stand up and about to run out from the room until Conan stop him
"It's no use coming here… the distance between there and Touto Tower is around one hour, there's only 30 minutes left before explosion. It's no use" said Conan in give up voice
Shinichi hit his fist to the wall in anger hearing Conan's voice. The teachers want to ask but they know that it will angered him even more so they shut up to let Shinichi calm down a little. Shinichi sit back to the chair and quickly open the code through the computer after asking the code earlier from Inspector Megure
"Come on something anything!" thought Shinichi
Conan look at Takagi who's now calling the defusing team to say that they can't defuse the bomb. He just look at the bomb in lifeless eyes
"To think this is the end of the line for me…" thought Conan while looking at the time which to be 10 minutes before it explode
"Shinichi-niichan… thank you, for taking care of me ever since I came to Japan. I'm sorry that I can't repay what you did to me at Tropical Land" said Conan apologize
"DON'T APOLOGIZE! Hear me out will you… you… BAKA LITTLE BROTHER!"
Conan open his eyes in surprised after hearing Shinichi shout at him. He didn't notice that he was letting out tears on his eyes due to being hopelessness
"I will not letting you die. No one can kill my family that easily, not on my watch!" shout Shinichi in anger
Shinichi told him to move away from the bomb and he goes near Takagi. He told Conan to give his earphone to Takagi so he can talk to him. Shinichi seems telling Takagi something which he quickly typing his phone, Conan confused on what did Shinichi say to him until Takagi give the earphone back to him
"Shinichi-niichan?"
"Conan… hear me properly and don't talk it out loud… I have a plan but I want you to wake up from any possible scenario and just follow my plan as exactly as that" said Shinichi serious
"Eh?"
"Getting you out is my job as a big brother, I will not let you die as easy as that" said Shinichi serious
Few moments later
Shinichi close his phone and bend down to the table in front of him. He look at the time which already 12 PM which exactly the time limit of that bomb.
"Kudou-kun… how?"
"I'm sorry for yelling sensei… may I finish this exam at my class? To be honest, I just need to finish two more questions, also I already tell the police about what I told you earlier" said Shinichi in unidentified look to the teacher
The teacher just nod and let him go back to his class, well since he was called for an emergency and an order from the police. He also didn't caught cheating when using the phone so he's safe to continue his exam
After school
Shinichi putting his stationary to his bag while looking down
"Shinichi, what happen just now?" ask Ran beside him
"Sorry Ran… I will tell you everything later but now I have to go. See you tomorrow"
Shinichi quickly run outside the classroom leaving Ran and Sonoko who look at him running
"What is going on? I thought tonight he and the brat in glasses will have dinner at your house?" asked Sonoko
"Um… I don't know too" said Ran who look worried
Shinichi run to his home and quickly throw his bag inside the house and take the motorcyle key. he put on his helmet and use his motorcycle straight away while looking serious. Moments later, he arrived to the police headquarters
After parking his motorcycle, he run toward the elevator toward to where the first division room is. He run until he saw one boy is talking with Inspector Megure
"Oh Kudou-kun! Good work" said Inspector Megure to the high school detective
Shinichi stop and trying to catch his breath due to running, he feel someone is touching his cheek and wiping his sweat with a handkerchief
"Are you okay Shinichi-niichan?" asked the boy
Shinichi look at who wipe him which to be his brother who survived the bomb, Conan
"Thank you Kudou-kun, thanks to you my subordinate is safe and Conan-kun is fine. Not to mention, we finally catch the culprit after seven years-"
Inspector Megure stop his talk after realizing that the high school detective didn't hear him instead he was hugging Conan tightly, Conan seems surprised by his brother actions but he let him be since he indeed scare him for a second becoming the victim of the bombing case
"Well… I will question you two when you guys are ready okay. I will wait at this room" said Inspector Megure which Conan give a nod to him and he leave them alone
"Shinichi-niichan?"
"Don't ever scare me like that… I forgot that you are very reckless and now I'm regretting letting you on this case" said Shinichi while looking at his brother
"I'm sorry… I can't help it after seeing Takagi-keiji goes into Touto Tower alone"
"Ukh… you are indeed my brother… Conan, today you almost lost your life due to my poor decision… asking you to find information of a serial bomber on the day of his plan, I believe in you but don't make me scared like that again okay. For a moment I thought that he kill you" said Shinichi serious looking at his brother
"Thank you for believing in me and I'm sorry, from now on for this kind of cases, I promise to partner up with you instead with my friends… since I also scared them today" said Conan smiling ensuring his big brother
"Thank you… now let's get this questioning over with and after that, If we still have time, I will treat you delicious meal anywhere you want"
"Really!? Okay!"
Shinichi comes into the room and waiting for their turn for the questioning since at the questioning room now is the serial bomber. Shinichi hold Conan's hand which surprised the boy but it seems now he's being careful so if anything happen, he can protect his brother
The culprit comes out with Inspector Megure holding him and he see the brothers. He then smile to both of them
"Good work you two, I never thought you brothers will decipher that code so easily. The officers have to be ashamed at their abilities getting knocked out by mere high schooler and grade schooler" said the culprit with a satisfied smile
"How did you know? About us being brothers?" asked Conan still holding Shinichi's hand and stay behind Shinichi
"I overheard him calling you little brother by phone. I mean who would have thought the famous high school detective Kudou Shinichi and the famous Kid Killer Edogawa Conan are actually brothers. I see you two are indeed the best partners when it comes to solving mysteries, be sure to stay that way okay"
As the culprit says that, he walk away from the leaving the brothers inside the room. There's only Takagi inside the room and he approach the brothers
"I've been meaning to ask you, you two are really brothers by blood?" asked Takagi
"You also overheard our talk that time?" asked Shinichi
"Yeah… but why keep it a secret?"
"I don't want people to see me as the little brother of the high school detective Kudou Shinichi or the son of best seller novelist Kudou Yusaku and former actress Fujimine Yukiko. I want to be known as myself, because of that I take an alias as Edogawa Conan. I hope Takagi-keiji can keep it a secret for me too" said Conan
"Don't worry, he already promise our parents to tell the truth to the world someday but not now" said Shinichi ensuring Takagi
"Hmmm… okay then, then let's go inside and start the questioning" said Takagi while opening the room for questioning
Time Skip~
At Mouri Detective Agency
"EHH?! CONAN-KUN ALMOST DIE AT TOUTO TOWER?!" shout Ran at the dinner table
Ran and Kogoro are having dinner together since Shinichi and Conan seems to be forgetting that they will eating with them
"Ahh… that kid was on news this afternoon for defusing the bomb. It seems that he and the detective brat manage to capture the culprit of the serial bomber" said Kogoro while eating
"I see… so that's why Shinichi was called during the exam… well I think I should visit them tomorrow and cook them breakfast"
"Eh why?"
"After hearing Conan-kun almost died and Shinichi save him. I'm sure when they get home…"
At Kudou's house
In the end, they finish questioning at 9 PM so they straight head home. After that both of them just do things on their own. Shinichi stay at his room ever since they arrived while Conan just finished eating the leftover breakfast
Conan was turning off the lights of the living room and goes to the second floor, he notice that the light from Shinichi's room is turned on. He take a peek and saw Shinichi asleep on his desk, Conan quickly turn off the desk lamp and room light. He push Shinichi's wheel chair so that his body is also moved slowly.
He gently push Shinichi's body to the bed and throw his whole body to the bed. After that Conan lift his legs to the bed and cover it with a blanket. He look at his brother's sleeping face and touch his cheek
"He's too tired because of me… why you always have to be the one who suffer for saving me" thought Conan while looking at his brother in apologetic eyes
Conan can't helped to sleep right beside Shinichi and look at his sleeping-tired face showing. Seeing his face make him suddenly thrown into the darkness
Few moments later, Shinichi wake up and surprised seeing Conan sleeping by his side. He can't help to smile and put a blanket on Conan and pull him closer to him so that he can keep warm. He stroke his hair for a moment, take his glasses away from his face and the drift back to the darkness
In the morning
Ran know that those two will still be asleep so she borrow Shinichi's house key from Professor Agasa to goes into the house. When she comes in, she take a peek at Shinichi's room which to her surprise to see the two brothers are sleeping together in one bed
Ran can't helped to smile seeing the two brothers are so close to each other
"Shinichi… Conan-kun… wake up, it's already 10 AM" said Ran while gently shake them
Ran not surprised that the one who wake up first is Conan, he rub his eyes and surprised that he's sleeping with Shinichi the whole night. He quickly gets up and look around as if surprised
"Conan-kun?" asked Ran surprised by his behavior
"Good morning Ran-nee… wait how did you get in?!" asked Conan surprised
"Professor Agasa have an extra key of your house remember? I borrow it to come in to check on you two"
"Ahh I see…"
"Wake up Shinichi okay, I will get breakfast ready" said Ran smiling while going out from the room
"Ah thank you Ran-neechan"
Ran goes out from the room leaving Conan with the sleeping high schooler. He quickly shake his brother up to wake him
"Wake up… oii" said Conan in low voice
"Ah? Um… good morning Conan…" said Shinichi while rubbing his eyes
"Oh… you should just wake me up when you notice I was sleeping here" said Conan while staring at his brother
Shinichi sit up on his bed and put his hand on Conan's head
"How can wake up the person who just defuse a highly complicated bomb that almost destroy Touto Tower" said Shinichi smiling
"Oi Oi…"
"Come on, let's just take a bath together so that Ran don't have to wait very long"
"WHAT?!"
Time Skip~
Shinichi and Conan now is eating breakfast that Ran just made for them. Well most of it already made from her home so she just heat it all up for them to eat. This time, Conan got his hot coffee since he desperately need to drink it
"But I'm surprised you can solve that code Shinichi, where is the other bomb anyway?" asked Ran curious
"Eh, you didn't tell Ran-neechan?" asked Conan looking at Shinichi beside him
"No… after I told Inspector Megure, I continue doing my exam that got interrupted. After school, I go straight to the police headquarters so I didn't have time to tell her"
"Hmmm… the last bomb is at the place where you guys are" said Conan looking at Ran
Ran was surprised hearing Conan's answer. The fact that the bomb was actually at Teitan High School, where they are to take the national mock exams
"The bomb was at school?!" shout Ran
"Yeah, after I solve the code and conduct the hint that was given at the last one second before the bomb exploded, I told the teachers to quietly look at whole school except the class that was used for the exams since the bomber will not put the bomb there" said Shinichi while drinking his coffee
"Last second?! You mean Conan-kun defuse the bomb at one second before it exploded?!" asked Ran didn't believe
"Yeah… I put the last wire near me so that after I receive the hint, I can quickly cut the wire to defuse the bomb" said Conan putting the cup on the plate as a sign that he's done eating
Ran just sigh because the two who tell her the story seems okay with it and act like it's nothing serious. Suddenly Ran's phone rings which to be from Kazuha while Conan's phone rings shows Heiji calling him
"He-"
"EXPLAIN YOURSELF YOU AHOU!" shout Heiji from the phone which make Conan drop from the chair
Shinichi take the phone and put it on speaker since Ran is talking with Kazuha at the hallway
"What is it Hattori?" asked Shinichi
"WHY YOU TWO DIDN'T TELL ME ABOUT THE BOMBING CASE?!"
"Why… that's basically a case on our side" said Conan seems uninterested answering Heiji
"Liar! I'm pretty sure Kudou already got the case when I was there right!?"
"Well… I did but the Inspector Megure ask only for me to know and of course Conan knows since we are practically living at the same roof" said Shinichi half lie answering the Kansai hot head detective
"Cih, fine if it's the police orders…" said Heiji who seems unhappy
"So why you call?" asked Conan
"Ahh about my invitation, I already got the tickets. I'm sure now Kazuha already told that neechan"
Both Shinichi and Conan look at each other and now sure that they will be spending their last days of vacation at Osaka with both Heiji and Kazuha

I'm actually still thinking of putting BO to this series or not since I already made Haibara Ai is a different person from Miyano Shiho but for now I want to focus more on the brothers adventures of solving cases together and how they act to each other. Of course I will put romance between the childhood friends and the smart first grader couple on future chapters:)
