Shinichi, Ran and Sonoko are in the restaurant together. After the mock exams, both Ran and Sonoko agreed to go shopping together but Kogoro have an affair case to which they have no choice to force Shinichi to come with them be their guardian or in other words, their bag carrier
"Seriously you guys really spend a lot" said Shinichi while looking at the bags full of clothes and bags
"It's fine right since I got my monthly allowance" said Ran happily
"You should be grateful coming with us Shinichi-kun" said Sonoko to the boy
"Yeah yeahh… thank you so much"
Shinichi just drink his ice coffee in bored look since he seems didn't like to accompany the two ladies to go shopping after all
"Ahh I rather play games with Conan and his friends at Professor Agasa's house instead" thought Shinichi
As their food arrive, Shinichi ask for some take away to which surprised the ladies
"Hm? That's rare for you to bought take away?" asked Sonoko
"Yeah, you and Conan-kun prefer to have homemade dinner right?" said Ran to his childhood friend
"Ahh but today Conan is playing games in Professor Agasa's house with his friends so he can't cook today. Not to mention, I'm accompanying you two and after this, you guys planning to go to the nail salon right" said Shinichi while eating his pasta
"Ahahaha as expected of Shinichi-kun" laugh Sonoko
"Hahaha you seems also deduct that I will not cook dinner too" said Ran giggle
"You never make dinner after going to nail salon" said Shinichi unhappy
Sonoko and Ran just continue eating and chatting with each other, they also ask Shinichi about his cases and other stuffs. Suddenly Sonoko realize something that she forgot
"Ah I just remember! what day will you two go to Osaka again?" asked Sonoko to both Ran and Shinichi
"If I remember correctly, it should be a week before the school start" said Shinichi remembering
"Then! Can you guys accompany me to a game presentation at Beika City Hall this Saturday?"
"Eh?" asked both Shinichi and Ran surprised
Time Skip~
At Beika City hall
Ran, Kogoro, Shinichi, Conan and Detective boys just arrived and just passed the bag checking area. Since Sonoko also tell both Ran and Shinichi that it's okay to invite Ran's father, Conan and his friends to join so they all accept gladly when they hear that it's a virtual game presentation, well for Kogoro's case because Yoko Okino also present. They are now on their way to the main hall for the party
"Geez, this is a bit much for some stupid game presentation" said Kogoro in annoyed voice
"Ahh I heard they had to put up with cooperate spies and stuff like that just to get this far" said Shinichi walking beside him
"Well Cocoons are supposed to change video games forever after all" said Conan looking at the two
"Ahh I really want to play it" said Genta unhappy
"Can't be helped… We are here only to watch" said Mitsuhiko comforting his friend
"Well it is interesting to get to be the first one to play the game" said Haibara while imagining
"I know right!" said Ayumi agreeing
Conan look at the Cocoon in interest since it is the game era changer. Shinichi bend down close to his little brother's face
"You also want to play right?" whisper Shinichi to his brother
"Shut up…" said Conan blushing
At the same time at different place, a car comes with Professor Agasa goes out along with one person that attracted many reporters, Kudou Yusaku. After that, they went into bag checking area and take their belongings
"Shinichi-kun and Conan-kun should be here too" said Professor Agasa as he put his phone to his pocket
Yusaku who heard it just smile to the old man which he knows since it's been a long time since he meet two of his sons
"I'm sure you like to have some family time with them" Professor Agasa continued
"Yes, I'm curious how both of them now ever since they live together"
"It's your fault to secretly went home without both Shinichi and Conan knowing, you even went home when both of them already goes out to meet their friends"
Time Skip~
At the main hall
Seven of them are now eating at the main hall waiting for the event to start, the Detective boys just stare jealously to the kids who got a chance to try the game for the first time. Shinichi look at Conan who just shows poker face but he knows that his brother really want to play as well even though he's bad at playing games
"Shinichi?" asked Ran beside him
"Hm?"
"You've been staring at Conan-kun for a while, what is it?"
"Ahh nothing particularly"
Suddenly the person who invite them finally meet them which to be Suzuki Sonoko, Sonoko bend down to greet the group but Mitsuhiko notice that Sonoko is also wearing the game badge
"Heehh so Suzuki company also help with the creating?" asked Shinichi amused
"Yes, we help with fund the game development so that's why I get it" said Sonoko showing her badge
The detective boys just stare at the badge in jealously but Shinichi help comfort them that they will get to play it someday. Conan also agrees with him and act like he didn't really interested to play which successfully fool his friends, Kogoro, Ran and Sonoko but he can't fool his own brother
"Oh yeah Shinichi-kun… I just notice, you wear your school uniform?" asked Sonoko looking at Shinichi
"Ahh, my other formal clothes are still in the laundry so I have no choice"
"Luckily there's no school logo" said Conan glaring at his brother
"Shut up…"
Suddenly the MC greets everyone and tell the news that Kudou Yusaku has arrived from America and he is one of the people who helped made ideas for the Cocoon games. Shinichi and Conan just smile looking as their father goes on stage as if proudly tell that it is his father
"Conan-kun's dad is so cool" said Ayumi admiring
"Sshh Ayumi-chan, do you forgot I'm Edogawa Conan" said Conan to Ayumi
"Ahh sorry"
Genta and Mitsuhiko then go toward the table where Haibara is eating to which Ayumi follows leaving Conan alone with Shinichi since Ran is now with Sonoko looking after his father from drinking too much. Just then Professor Agasa arrive beside the brothers
"I wondered why you were gone for a month but you were working with dad huh?" asked Shinichi to the Professor
"I helped out with some of the final programming" said Professor Agasa smiling to the brothers
"What about mom?" asked Conan
"She hasn't been to Japan for awhile so she's having a class reunion"
Shinichi and Conan just smile hearing the news from Professor Agasa and look at the stage seeing their father
"Ah I also have souvenir for you Conan-kun, here" said Professor Agasa giving a badge for Conan
"Is this?!"
"Yes, it's the game participation badge. Since your father help with the game so you get a chance to play it. But it's a shame that he can only got one badge, he was hoping that both of you can join"
"Well it's fine actually, I think I'm already too old to play games after all" said Shinichi smiling
Conan look at the badge in awe but he look behind him which to be his friends so he give it back to the Professor to which surprised him and also Shinichi
"I appreciate it but I don't think I need to play as well…" said Conan determined
"Conan…" said Shinichi surprised by his brother and just smile
"Ehh but I'm sure you will be interested, It's still a secret… but the game takes place 100 years ago in 19th century London. So I think you should hold it for a moment" said Professor Agasa whispering
"London 100 years ago?!" said Conan surprised
"Ahh I see he still loves that setting as much as ever that old man" said Shinichi just smirk
"Well like father like son to which two of you"
Suddenly the lights were out which shows the event is starting, since it's just about the game presentation. The Kudou brothers dismissed themselves to look around, Conan put his souvenir badge in his pocket so none of his friends notice it
"So you are not gonna ask?" said Conan to his brother
"Hm?" said Shinichi surprised by his brother's question
"You seems want to ask why I turn off the offer to play the game"
"I kind of figured out the answer, you want to play as much as them but you don't want to play alone because fun time is always when you are playing together. Not to mention after what you had experience in LA so it's not that hard to figure out"
"Hit the mark as always… but nonetheless maybe I can give this to Ran-neechan so that she can play with Sonoko-neechan who also participate"
"Hahaha you're right but I had a feeling your friends will find a way to get into the game since they are determined as you are"
Suddenly both of them notice the crowd on which to be a interview with Kudou Yusaku, the two brothers look at it from afar so that the TV crew didn't notice them. They just look at their father in admiration. After the interview, the father notice his sons and about to greet him but suddenly his fans are coming toward to ask for autographs, the brothers just smile seeing their father. Moments later, Yusaku look at both of them again from afar
"We're relieved to see you are well…" said the brothers in their thoughts to which telepathically heard by their father
"You two likewise" said the father telepathically
Shinichi and Conan just smile and turn around to go to their friends leaving their father who's giving autographs to his fans. As they arrived, they notice that Conan's friends seems to have participation badge on their clothes
"Ah there you are!" said Ran notice the brothers
"Hehehe sorry, we have a little detour… Hehh you all are impressive to get one" said Shinichi looking at the four kids
"Hehehehe… I'm sorry Conan-kun, we can only get four badges" said Genta who seems guilty
"We will work things out to get you one so-" said Mitsuhiko but was cut off by Haibara
"I'm sure you guys don't have to do it" said Haibara which grab everyone's attention
Conan look at Haibara who seems figured out and just smile want to hear her deduction
"I saw you two talking with Professor Agasa, and from what I know Professor Agasa and Kudou Yusaku-san are close and since Shinichi-san's father also help with the game. I'm sure there is one in your pocket right, game participation badge"
The three kids surprised and look at Conan who just give a defeat look and show the badge. Ran and Sonoko were also surprised by what they see, while Shinichi just smile since he also knows
"No way! But why you didn't tell us?" asked Genta
"To be honest, I want to turn off the offer" said Conan while putting back his badge to his pocket
"Eh why?" asked Ayumi surprised
"Yeah, playing this game will be a one time chance" said Mitsuhiko
"You guys still don't understand?" asked Haibara to three of them
"Eh?"
"The reason Edogawa-kun didn't tell you guys first and want to turn off the offer is because he only have one badge. He don't want to leave you guys from playing the game first, am I right Edogawa-kun?"
Conan just smile at Haibara's nice deduction to which Shinichi also seems impressed by it
"You hit the marks Haibara… Sorry for not telling, but I'm still thinking not to play after all, I will see you guys playing at the audience"
Shinichi seems surprised but he understand what Conan intention. The three kids look at each other and suddenly Mitsuhiko take Conan's hands from his pocket and take his participation badge by force and give it to Genta.
"O… Oi!"
"There's no way you are not playing Conan!" said Genta in slight anger while putting the badge to Conan's chest
"Yeah, you already got a chance to play after all… We also feel bad not to get you one and leave you alone" said Ayumi in front of him
"But we only have four Golden Kamen Yaiba cards to trade, we were about to ask Professor Agasa to ask one for you but now since you already have one, we should play it together!" said Mitsuhiko letting Conan go
"You guys…" said Conan surprised by their reaction
Shinichi just smile to Conan it seems his answer he was hoping reach and the fact that he really have good friends by his side now ease him.
"Then Shinichi-oniisan also play as well?" asked Ayumi to the high school detective
"No, my dad can only get one badge participation so he give it to Conan. Well I'm already a high schooler so I don't need to play" said Shinichi
"Don't worry, I will make a review essay for you about that stage" said Conan smirking
"Why thank you for that, make sure to meet our idol there though I have an idea what is dad thinking for the character"
Suddenly Shinichi notice some red lights in the window to which he grown curious
"Ah you guys go inside the Cocoon hall first, I will meet you there" said Shinichi running
"Wait Shinichi/-niichan!" shout Ran and Conan to the running high schooler
Conan look at his brother in confused, he was about to follow him but his friends already tackle him to get ready to play the game
At the Kashimura's room
In the room, there's already Inspector Megure, Inspector Shiratori and Kogoro who inspect the scene, Shinichi comes into and surprised see the body of the head developer of the game
"Megure-keibu!" shout Shinichi
"Ah Kudou-kun! You are here as well?" asked Megure surprised
"Ahh we are invited by Sonoko to attend… what happen?"
"One stab to the heart, the weapon was taken from the scene"
Shinichi look at the body closely and look around to find the tissues to wipe the blood, he look around and see the keyboard have a bloody keys
"R T J?" thought Shinichi looking at the keyboard
"Oi detective brat! Step away from the body!" shout Kogoro to Shinichi
"There's a dying message here!" said Shinichi serious
"What?!"
The three people comes toward the keyboard while Shinichi step back away from them and thinking about the dying message
"RTJ, TJR, TRJ, JTR… JTR?! No way!" thought Shinichi seems grasp the situation
Shinichi run from the room even though Inspector Megure try to stops him but they let him be, Shinichi run toward the Cocoons hall and see that the kids are queueing to go inside the game. He look at Conan and his friends going together and as he about to call him, Suddenly Ran and Sonoko greet him
"Shinichi, what's wrong?" asked Ran worried
"Eh ah… nothing…"
"You're lying, might tell us what is going on Shinichi-kun" said Sonoko forcing him
Shinichi just sigh and go closer to both of their ears, they listen until both of them almost shout to hear it but Shinichi quickly shut their mouth
"Quiet! There's many important people here" said Shinichi scolding his friends
"Ah ah… sorry sorry… but it is true that the key to solve the one who murders Kashimura-san is in the game" whisper Sonoko
"Yeah… Actually Professor Agasa told me and Conan that inside the game there's a stage of 100 years ago London so… I'm sure it's inside the game, the key to solve that case"
Shinichi look at Conan and his friends are picking Cocoons to sit by which he have no choice to watch and leave finding the hint to Conan who have the right to go inside the game. Sonoko look at Shinichi who seems worried for his brother so she take out her badge and shove it to Shinichi
"Here Shinichi-kun, you are worried for the case right?" said Sonoko while looking at Cocoons
"Eh? but what about-"
"It's fine, I don't even interest in this kind of games. Also you seems to worry more about your brother rather than the case"
"Sonoko's right Shinichi, you should take her offer. You have more right to join the game than any of us and I'm sure Conan will be happy knowing you also join the game" said Ran convincing Shinichi
Shinichi is convinced by their words which make him smile and take the participation badge and go toward the line
"Thank you Sonoko! Ran! I promise to take you two to cake buffet as my gratitude!" said Shinichi thanking his friends
Sonoko and Ran just smile to each other seeing their childhood friend goes into the Cocoons
Yusaku comes in to Kashimura's room and ask Megure for more information about Kashimura's murder since he and Kashimura were also friends. Yusaku look around the room and to his surprised, he didn't see his two sons who always come when it's about murder case
"Hm? I don't see Shinichi and Conan anywhere knowing they always be here?" asked Yusaku to Inspector Megure and Kogoro
"Ahh that high schooler brat was here but he run away after looking the dying message keyboard" said Kogoro pointing at the computer
"What?"
Yusaku look at the dying message to which he understand quickly and look at Professor Agasa
"JTR!" shout Yusaku
"Don't tell me Shinichi-kun intend to ask Conan-kun to use my souvenir?" asked Professor Agasa
"I think so, let's go professor!"
Yusaku and Professor Agasa about to go out but stop by the police officers and detective. Yusaku quick explain that JTR means by one of the character that he and Kashimura use inside the game for the 19th century London stage which is Jake The Ripper
"Jake The Ripper?!" shout Inspector Megure surprised
"Yes… most likely Shinichi notice it and tried to tell Conan about it because I only give one badge to Conan to which Shinichi can't join" said Yusaku serious
Time Skip~
Yusaku, Professor Agasa, Kogoro and the police goes into the control game room with game crew and President Schindler looking after the game procedure. Inspector Megure ask him to stop the game immediately but before anything happens suddenly the electricity start to act weird, Professor Agasa sit down and help the crew
Suddenly Kogoro look at the screen to which surprised to see both Conan and Shinichi inside the game
"What the, detective brat and the glasses brat join the game!" said Kogoro
"What!?" said Yusaku looking at screen to which it seems Shinichi found a way to let him also joining the game
"Not just them, it seems Conan-kun's friends also playing" said Inspector Shiratori looking at the screen
Moments later, Ran and Sonoko enter the control room to which surprised the police. Ran use her father name to get into the control room and to surprised to see Yusaku is also there
"Ran-chan, how did Shinichi got other badge?" asked Yusaku
"Sonoko give it to him, he said that the hint about the case is connected inside the game so we suggest him to go inside as well"
"More like he also worried leaving Conan alone too" thought Yusaku seeing his oldest son's brother senses
Suddenly the screen reacted and produce a voice, the voice introduce itself as Noah's ark. Yusaku was surprised and tell the police that Noah's ark is the artificial brain that was finished by Hiroki two years ago. Noah's ark said that he have seized control of the sensory simulation Cocoon game to which surprised the adults
"Noah's ark! Why have you seized control of the children's game?!" said Yusaku to the screen that shows full shot of Conan's face
"My goal is to reset the nation of Japan!" said Noah's ark
Inside the game
All 50 kids are gathered in some sort of room to which have nothing in it beside the kids. Conan look around and to his surprised he saw his brother so he quickly goes to him
"Shinichi-niichan?!" said Conan surprised
"Hey Conan…" said Shinichi bend down to his size
"What's going on? Why suddenly you join the game?"
"Well-"
"Ahh Shinichi-oniisan!" said Ayumi who surprised with the other three and goes to them
"It turns out you want to play as well Shinichi-san" said Mitsuhiko laughing
"Well you could say that hehe" said Shinichi slight laugh
Conan seems didn't take it and pull Shinichi from them so they can talk alone. His four friends seems confused and look at each other but they let them and they stay at their place talking about the game's atmosphere
"Now tell me what's going on?" asked Conan serious
"There was a murder case right on the basement, the victim is dad's acquaintance and also the head developer of this Cocoon game, Tadaaki Kashimura. Kashimura-san leave a dying message on the keyboard"
"Dying message?"
"JTR"
Conan realize what he means to which make Shinichi conclude that the key of solving the case is indeed inside this game and to be exact, at the 19th century London stage
"I was going to leave it to you since you are confirmed to join that stage but Sonoko give me her badge to join as well so… that's summarize it and I will let dad take the full case in real world while us find the key, well it's not like anything is going to happen here after all" said Shinichi as he stands up
"Yeah I hope so"
"Now then Cocoon pioneers! The game is about to begin!"
Suddenly they are all surrounded by five stones gates to which to be the entrance of each stages, both Shinichi and Conan goes near the detective boys while looking around
"My name is Noah's ark! Nice to meet you"
"Nice to meet you!" shout the kids overjoyed
"I'm going to show previews of each of five stages, so you can choose the world you want to play in. But I must warn you, this is not an ordinary video game. In this game, your live is at stake!"
"Our…" "Lives?" said both Shinichi and Conan surprised and look at each other
"If everyone loses the game, you'll be unable to go return to the real world. So you have to play seriously. But if even one person reaches the goal, you all win, and everyone include those who got game over will wake up in the real world again"
The adults outside and kids inside the game start to scared by Noah's ark words about dying in game means dying in real life
"These are the rules I decided on, do you understand them?"
"What does that mean?" asked Shinichi who seems unsure by it
"If everyone gets a game over, I'll send an EM signal to destroy your brains. In other words, this is a match to see if Japan should be reset or not"
"What?!" shout Shinichi and Conan together in shock
In the main control room
Yusaku ask Noah's ark about what he means by resetting Japan to which Noah's ark answer to intend to cut off the link of kids that will be when they grow up to act just like their parents are. Kogoro became upset and ask what does he have right to toy people's live to which Noah's ark lightly answer that he had no right just like adults had no right to toy Hiroki's life.
Inside the game
Noah's ark then proceed explaining the five stages to the kids so they can pick stages that they have to play but of course all of them are scared by the fact that they will die if they die in the game. All of them question themselves why they have to have this fate and all, some even scream ask for someone to win and rescue them. Shinichi had no choice to step up and encourage them not to give up since he's the only high schooler in the game
"Cheer up everyone, don't lose before you even started!" said Shinichi to all of them to which grab everyone's attention
"He's right! Only one of us has to reach the goal after all" said Conan helping his brother
"Choose the stage you think most likely to survive" continued Shinichi to all of them
Thanks to Kudou brothers, the kids start to agree and begin choosing the stage. Of course the Kudou brothers are sure on one stage but Conan faces his friends firstly
"So guys about the stage-"
"You don't have to tell us, Old time London right?" said Mitsuhiko
"For us to survive and reach the goal, we have to choose the stage we are great are. Not to mention high school Detective Kudou Shinichi and the famous Kid Killer to which both of them happens to love mysteries are with us so it should be easy" said Haibara to the brothers
"Don't get your hopes up… Jake The Ripper is a murder case that hasn't been solved yet, it will still be hard" said Shinichi bend down
"But it's still easier than the others and we know you two are still going to that stage" said Genta with his hands folded
"So we are coming with you two" said Ayumi to Conan
"Okay then" said Conan thank them for their understanding and goes to in front of the Old Time London stage entrance
Shinichi and Conan are right behind the Detective Boys, as they wait for other kids to pick their stages, Shinichi bend down to Conan size so that he can talk to him
"In the end, it's not an ordinary game huh" said Conan to his brother
"Yeah… well I'm just glad I take Sonoko's place or make Ran didn't participate so they didn't get into this trouble" said Shinichi glad
"Ah… we have to survive until the end okay"
"Of course, we still need to strike our old man after all" said Shinichi smirking to which Conan smirk back
