Shinichi, Ran and Sonoko are coming home after school. Shinichi is playing with his soccer ball while the girls just talking together
"Oh yeah Ran, I heard you are invited to a white day party thanks to your dad?" asked Sonoko
"Yes! Since my dad was featured in the commercial of the new white chocolate, Oh yeah how about you two coming with us?" asked Ran
"Hmmm tonight huh… Wait, I have to ask Conan first" said Shinichi as he turns on his phone
"Sorry Ran… I have something to do this evening" said Sonoko apologize
"It's fine"
Shinichi walk further from both girls to call his brother which give Sonoko a chance to ask Ran without Shinichi hearing them
"So Ran, did Shinichi-kun already give you the return gift?" asked Sonoko smirking
"Eh?" asked Ran surprised and blush
"Shinichi-kun got it right. Your homemade Valentine's chocolate"
"Well… Rather than giving him, it's more like he helped himself to it. Not to mention, not too many boys pay attention to things like this well"
"You should try forcing him Ran!"
"Hahaha no way he would understand that, after all he is baka mystery geek"
Shinichi who only overheard the mocking which make him got irritated until moments later he sees Conan got out from a certain shop
"Oi Conan!" shout Shinichi
Conan got shock as he heard someone called him which to be his big brother, Shinichi quickly run to him
"Shinichi-niichan?! You don't have soccer practice today?" asked Conan as he quickly covers his bag behind him
"No, most of my teammates are not practicing today. What are you doing here?" asked Shinichi
"Ah well… you will know later on"
"Oh yeah, do you have something to do tonight?"
"Nothing in particularly, why?"
"Ran invite us to attend a white day party, you know the company of that white chocolate commercial that Mouri-tantei starred in"
"Ahh I remember now, I should be fine tonight. I haven't thought of what to eat for dinner after all"
"Alright then, don't worry we're probably going in 6 AM which is plenty of time for you to make that"
"YOU FOUND OUT?!"
Conan shout to him in shock while Shinichi just smirk like a bad boy and winning for knowing what his little brother want to do
"It's very clear to me since you just got out from that store. Never underestimate my skills of solving little Conan-kun" said Shinichi mocking
"Cih fine fine, then tomorrow you will not get any allowance" said Conan unhappy
"Oi oi give me a break!"
"Then tell me how did you know?! I never told you anything"
"Last week, I found some leftover cheap white chocolates in the fridge and some different types of sugar and cream. That's certainly not my doing since I can't bake, Ran will not go to my house to bake which leaves to you only… You were practicing right, so you can make the real one with these which looking by the paper bag, it's seems to be expensive"
"As expected from high school detective… You got it all right"
Moments later, Ran and Sonoko arrive to them and surprised to see Conan have a paper bag from the shop which to be cake and sweets shop
"Conan-kun, what are you doing?" asked Ran
"Eh well…. Hahahaha" laugh Conan who didn't want to answer
Sonoko quickly smirk as she snatched Conan's paper bag and then look inside it. Ran and Shinichi was not happy of what Sonoko did but they stop themselves as Sonoko take out a white chocolate bar
"This is…" asked Ran looking at it
"Wait a minute, this is the limited edition famous white chocolate bar that only sell 100 bars per month!" said Sonoko who realizes it
"No way! Not to mention, you get a lot! How did you do it Conan-kun?"
"I booked in advanced of course… I already reserve some since last week"
"Even I can't get this much…. Quite scary" said Sonoko in low voice
"Did you know the shopkeeper?" asked Shinichi
"Yeah… Actually, the shopkeeper got pickpocketed when my friends and I are playing soccer and we help her get the culprit and her bag back. As a thank you, she treat us some chocolates here and I secretly booked the chocolate bars for today… I'm also surprised since I remember that I only ordered two chocolate bars" said Conan as he took the paper bag back
"But she gives you five instead… Talk about luck" said Sonoko
"Why did you buy this? Do you want to make something?" asked Ran
"Ah yeah… You could say that"
Shinichi just smirk at his little brother since he knows what is the boy plotting for that chocolate bars. Moments later, his phone rings so he steps away from a moment and at the same time, both Ran and Sonoko heard a car coming which to be Takagi and Sato
"Sato-keiji!" said Ran surprised
"What are you guys doing here?" asked Sato looking toward all of them
"Ahh this glasses brat buy a limited white chocolate bar which is quite popular. Not to mention, today is white day so everyone should try to buy these" said Sonoko unhappy as Conan hold the paper bag
"White day?"
"It's the day when boys return gift to girls who give them chocolate from Valentine"
"So if you give out chocolate on Valentine's Day, you will get return gifts on 14th March? That's music to my ears"
"Hm?" asked both high schoolers
"So, Takagi-kun?"
Sato quickly use her hand asking Takagi for the white day present which surprise the detective since he was sure that Sato didn't give him anything for Valentine's Day. Sato quickly told him that she did give him which to be a chocolate snack on the stakeout which Takagi quickly laugh by the fact. Suddenly a car goes to them which to be Inspector Shiratori
"Hey you guys, done gathering information?" asked Inspector Shiratori to them
"Shiratori-san… eh?" asked Takagi surprised and the others as well
They see the car which to be filled with little box presents and shock by the amount
"What's with those boxes?!" asked Takagi surprised
"These are presents I'm giving Kobayashi-sensei for White day… Well biscuits, candies, white chocolates, marshmallows… I couldn't decide which to go with so I bought them all" said Inspector Shiratori happily as he blushes
"Oi oi…. That's too much" thought Conan laugh by it with Ran helping him to see the view
Few hours later
Shinichi and Conan are now waiting for Ran right in front of her house. Kogoro already wait in Taxi to go to the party
"I can't wait for the party" said Ran to Conan happily as she locks the door
"Me too" said Conan happily
"Come on let's go, it's almost time" said Shinichi
"Yeah yeah"
Ran and Conan quickly walk downstairs following Shinichi behind them. Kogoro who waited in Taxi look at Ran
"Oh yeah, how's your throat? You even had a nasally voice yesterday" asked Kogoro to Ran
"Um! I'm fine now" said Ran smiling
Time Skip~
At Haido City Hotel
"EH?! Okino Yoko-chan couldn't make it?!" asked Kogoro shock
They are now at the reception for guests of the party, Kogoro ask about Yoko already arrived to the party or not but it turns out that she didn't come due to her tight drama schedule
"What's wrong Mouri-tantei?" asked Shinichi
"I was thinking to give a White day present for her" said Kogoro as he showed a light blue box present
"What's that? You haven't even given anything to mom or me yet" said Ran unhappy
"Ahahaha…" laugh Conan by the scene
Moments later, they meet the president of the chocolate company, Urai Taruto and his wife, Urai Hoshie. All of them goes into the party which Kogoro quickly take a lot of food from the buffet which Ran was unhappy by it. Shinichi quickly take plates for him and Conan
"Oh yeah, why you didn't bring it?" asked Shinichi
"It?" asked Conan confused
"The thing that you have been making this evening"
"Ah that, of course, I put it in the fridge to chill first… Enough about me, how about you?"
"What?"
Conan was about to get angry by his cluelessness until Ran call them to go to the table quickly along with Kogoro which Conan quickly gives up asking. All of them are talking with the president until suddenly Kogoro was called on stage to tell about his commercial
"Can Mouri-tantei do well?" said Shinichi half laugh
"I don't know either" said Conan gives a bored look
"Then, I'm going to toilet for a moment okay"
"Alright"
Conan looks at Ran and much to his surprised to see that Hoshie is reading Ran's hand
"Hmmm… your luck is strong" said Hoshie smiling to her
"I do often win prize drawings!" said Ran happily
Suddenly Ran face turn blush and she looks around which she notices that Shinichi was nowhere near her sight so she uses that chance
"Um… how's my luck with love?" asked Ran shyly
"Let's see… Your marriage line runs sideways and is Y-shaped. This means you haven't been able to bond with the person you like because of numerous obstacles and it appears that you're headed toward despair" said Hoshie as she reading her hand
"Oi oi… I know Niichan can be clueless but not to get into that" thought Conan who overheard everything
"Are you still listening?"
"Eh yes I am" said Ran immediately
"No, I meant you"
The question was actually directed to her husband instead
"Perhaps…" said Taruto
"Eh?" thought Conan surprised
"But there's a good chance that you will finally be together at the end of a dramatic event so try not to quarrel with him too much" said Hoshie to Ran
"Yes!" said Ran
Suddenly Taruto shout in pain as he's holding his mouth. Shinichi who just arrived to the hall shock and run toward Conan
"Oi what happen?" asked Shinichi to his little brother
"I don't know suddenly he fell" said Conan
Both brothers quickly goes near them while Hoshie who has been on his side quickly calls Kogoro saying that it appears to be a mystery skit. Kogoro goes to his side and then do his job faking examination and pointing the culprit is inside the hall and he asks for confirmation but both brothers said otherwise
"He can't answer you no matter how much you try" said Conan as he hold Taruto's neck
"Eh?" asked Kogoro surprised
"This person… isn't breathing" said Shinichi serious
"He's really dead?!"
Shinichi and Conan goes closer to the victim's mouth while covering their nose with handkerchief and which both of them quickly conclude the death at the same time
"Death by poison" thought both Shinichi and Conan together
Time Skip~
The police has arrived and do their investigation of the crime scene. Inspector Megure quickly questioning Conan, Ran and Hoshie who happen to be beside Taruto the whole time.
"At that time, did the wife tell the president to do anything?" asked Inspector Megure to Ran
"No, not really" said Ran telling the truth
"But you know, She did say this while in the middle of reading Ran-neechan's palm… Are you still listening?... Like that" said Conan while looking at the wife of the victim
"Listening?" asked Inspector Megure confused
"At first I thought she was talking to me but it turns out she was actually asking the president" said Ran
"Because it's a rare opportunity to hear Mouri-san's speech yet his mind seemed absent"
Conan then look at his brother which surprise him until Shinichi nod to him
"But the president's reply at that time was kind of strange… He didn't reply with I'm listening or I wasn't listening but instead he said perhaps"
"That's indeed strange…" said Kogoro who hears Conan statement
Hoshie quickly revoked saying that her husband is indeed having distraction and she said that after Kogoro's speech, both of them will divorce and split the company into two. Takagi and Sato then deduct that Taruto committed suicide due to broken up by the divorce. But all of them since unconvinced and so Shinichi suggest having body check on Hoshie to look the poison. Both girls are going away until suddenly Hoshie fall to the table full of drinks and all the drinks are broken.
Few moments later
Suddenly Kogoro proposed to be run on murder on the spot saying that Hoshie knows that Taruto will be performing mystery skit and she uses that chance when Taruto collapse, she put the poison inside his mouth but then he was revoked by Hoshie saying that Taruto didn't move again after collapse which is proof that the poison was administered right before he collapsed. Kogoro just sigh until suddenly he shout and throw away the cigarette due to pain got into his fingers
The brothers who have been hearing the whole situation seems to be locked by one deduction. Moments later, Conan bravely goes to Hoshie while the police, Kogoro and Ran didn't notice
"Nee, I think you better call the restaurant soon" said Conan to Hoshie
"Eh?" asked Hoshie surprised
"Since you and the president only had things to drink during the party and didn't eat anything. You must have dinner reservations at some expensive restaurant, right?"
"This guy…" thought Shinichi smirking who see the whole scene
"We didn't have any reservations like that. To get my husband's metabolism going, he was prohibited from eating out at night. That's why I made healthy dishes for him everyday instead" said Hoshie as she bends down to Conan
"I see… then what dish did you make for tonight?" asked Conan with childish voice
"Eh… what was it.."
"This party would have been over around 9 PM after all, so you should have already bought the ingredients right?"
Shinichi notice the change of face of Hoshie as Conan comfort her. Conan face change from childish smile into his signature detective smirk
"After all, it couldn't be that you knew things would turn out like this from the start" said Conan who change his tone into serious
Hoshie just look dumbfounded by the boy's statement until Conan bow down to her and then goes to Shinichi's side and the high schooler bend down to Conan's size. They look at each other and becomes serious
"The killer is no doubt to be her" thought both of them together
"Still, how in the world did she give the poison to the president without anyone noticing…" thought Conan serious
"That's one thing I'm still thinking about" thought Shinichi
Suddenly they heard a sneeze which to be from Chiba
"What's wrong Chiba-kun? Hay fever?" asked Sato concerned
"Yeah, I took some medicine but it doesn't seem to be effective" said Chiba
"Effective?" thought Conan surprised
"I do wish there were some miraculous allergy medicine"
"Miracle…" thought Shinichi
Moments later, both brothers heard Ran shouting due to Kogoro's cigarette burn a napkin. Shinichi looks closer and realize that it was Hoshie's napkin for her lemon tea. Suddenly Shinichi eyes shot up and then smirk as he looks at the smash glasses by the table. Conan quickly touch his shoulder and glare at his big brother
"Tell me" said Conan glaring
"Hahaha… Of course you notice, are you planning to use sleeping Kogoro?" asked Shinichi look to him
"Of course, you are not even there when it happened, I do have to get at least half of deduction"
"Alright alright… I do have to thank Occhan for making me realize the trick"
"Eh?"
Time Skip~
Conan look at his big brother who just finish talking with Takagi and with that Conan hide behind Kogoro immediately
"If I were the culprit, I wouldn't have invited the great detective Mouri-san to this party that would end up as a murder case" said Hoshie to Kogoro
"That's true…" said Kogoro
"But if that was part of a strategy you employed… It would be a different story"
Kogoro's voice suddenly sounded which to be from Conan who already use the bowtie voice changer. Kogoro got surprised and then he seems to be covering his neck but Conan use his stun gun to his forehead. Shinichi who has been behind Kogoro the whole time quickly catch him and put him on the floor. He also put the speaker sticker right on Kogoro's collar for Conan who will be talking under the table
"That's of course, a strategy devised in order for the murder trick to work" said Conan with Kogoro's voice
"Right… Strategy that Hoshie-san could poison the president" said Shinichi serious
All people in the hall quickly look at Hoshie surprise since she was called as the murderer by both Kogoro and Shinichi
"By strategy, are you saying that I used Mouri-san?" asked Hoshie trying to calm her tone
"Yeah, though the one you really used is Mouri-tantei's daughter, Ran" said Shinichi serious
"Eh?" asked Ran surprised
"What do you mean?" asked Inspector Megure confused
"If my daughter had testified that both of your hands had been occupied with reading her palm and that after the president collapsed he was unable to move. I would believe her over anyone else and you would be removed from the suspicion" said Kogoro which of course Conan who said it
"So what is the trick? You two can't just accuse me like this" said Hoshie to both Shinichi and Kogoro
Shinichi walk right beside Ran while looking at Hoshie serious
"You said something to your husband, didn't you? Are you still listening (Chanto Kiiteru)?" said Kogoro
"The president loved being showy and would do things such as magic tricks and skits. You proposed this to the president beforehand right? Saying that everyone would be surprised if you ate the sour Spy Choco White without making a face or something like that" said Shinichi serious
"My husband can't even eat sour food so there's no way he would do that" said Hoshie
"There is a way… You know what a miracle fruit don't you?" said Kogoro
"I know that! It's a berry that makes sour things taste sweet when consumed" said Chiba understands
"Yes, if the berry is thoroughly rolled on the tongue, the effects will last for an hour or two. That's why with having the berry in advanced, Hoshie-san asked him"
"In regard to the miracle fruit, is it still effective(Chanto Kiiteru)?" said Shinichi
Hoshie look shock by the revelation by both detectives. They quickly deduct that Taruto must have taken the lemon which is the only thing that's sour on the table to test the berry's effectiveness. Shinichi quickly told them that Hoshie must have replaced her real lemon with the poisoned one and she put the real one beneath her glass
"That was indeed a great deduction. However, where's the proof that I did that?" asked Hoshie defending herself
"Regarding that, forensics has already secured it. It's the same napkin that I burned on purpose by flinging my cigarette on it" said Conan in Kogoro's voice
"Forensics! Is it true?" asked Inspector Megure
"Yes, here it is" said one of the forensics team
"As you can see, the burn mark that stretchers straight out turns into a circular curve mid-way. It's proof that there was lemon on it" said Conan in Kogoro's voice
"Then, where's the lemon that had the poison?" asked Inspector again
"Oi detective brat!"
Shinichi then showed the lemon which have a missing piece in the plastic
"I ask Takagi-keiji to look into this, if your fingerprints and the president's saliva are both found in this lemon that it will be a concrete evidence" said Shinichi smirking
With that, the white day case close its curtains as Hoshie confess to everything
Time Skip~
All of them are now on their way to the parking lot since most of them have to go to the headquarters to report about the case
"But who would have thought that you flung that cigarette on purpose dad!" said Ran to her father
"Well yeah hahaha… Well since today is white day, I just felt I was able to clearly discern black from white" said Kogoro laughing
Shinichi and Conan just laugh at Kogoro's statement since the one who did the deduction is Conan after all, but they can't say it.
"You know… this case is more of 80% for Occhan rather than I did" thought Shinichi to his little brother
"Hehehe for once it's alright right… Since this case did use Occhan and Ran-neechan in her plan of defense" thought Conan giggle
Suddenly they heard a woman yell from a phone which seems to be Inspector Megure is talking with his wife
"It seems Megure-keibu giving white day present to his wife" thought Conan which heard by Shinichi
"Yeah, you're right" thought Shinichi
Both Shinichi and Conan see that Kogoro give Ran a present which to be he ask Ran to give the present to Eri. For them it was laughable because he said that it was supposed for Yoko but the wrapping is very different
"Then Ran-chan and Conan-kun… Let's go" said Sato
"Alright, then Conan-kun will be staying right?" asked Ran
"Yeah, so Niichan will be going to Ran-neechan's house too or back home?" asked Conan to his big brother
"I'm thinking of staying at Ran's. Is it alright?" asked Shinichi to Ran and Kogoro
"Um! it's fine" said Ran
"Well then, see you later night" said Kogoro as he, Shinichi and some police officers are going to the headquarters
Ran see Shinichi going with them. She really wants to ask about white day from him but she holds herself. Conan notice her behavior and hold her hand, Ran notices that and smile to him
Few moments later
"Eri-obaasan didn't seem happy, did she? It seemed as if her face was twitching" said Conan half laughing
"Don't worry, that's the face she makes when she tries to hold back a smile. It's a proof that she's actually overjoyed" said Ran smiling happily
"And there's Takagi-kun here…" said Sato unhappy
All of them in the car just laugh and Takagi seems to be restless as he's driving. Conan look at his watch which to be 10 PM which is very late which he was sure
"Ah Takagi-keiji, can I go visit Professor Agasa for a moment?" asked Conan as he goes between the front seats
"Eh? I don't mind but why?" said Takagi while driving
"Well I have something to do"
Time Skip~
Conan hurriedly goes to his house first but then he got out immediately with a little box in hand. He quickly goes to Professor Agasa's house, push the bell and then by coincidence, Haibara open the door
"Ah Edogawa-kun, what's wrong?" asked Haibara
"Just stop by for a second, where's Professor?" asked Conan as he looks to the house
"He's at the basement, if you want him you can go to-"
"Sorry but I can't be here too long, I was actually wanted to meet you"
"Eh?"
Conan then give a box to Haibara while looking away not showing his blushing face which surprise her. Sato and Ran who sees the scene can't help to shout happily while Takagi just shock by Conan's courage
"This is?" asked Haibara as she looks at the box on his hand
"Well… you did give me a chocolate on Valentine so well you know… This is my gratitude for that homemade chocolate" said Conan while looking away
Haibara take the box from Conan and open it which to be small white chocolates with simple decoration and different shapes but Haibara notice that the decoration is almost identical to her Valentine chocolate that she give him.
"Well thank you there great detective, I didn't expect you to be so soft about it" said Haibara smirking
"Baka, everyone in town been talking about this day, Ran-neechan and Sonoko-neechan practically giving sign to Shinichi-niichan and Makoto-san like no tomorrow… Well consider this also as my gratitude for always helping on cases" said Conan smirk
Haibara smile and can't help to giggle by Conan's words suddenly they heard car sound to be Takagi accidentally press it which got scolded by both Ran and Sato. Conan and Haibara just giggle seeing it
"It seems you have to go" said Haibara
"Yeah since I'm staying with Ran-neechan today due to that baka mystery geek, well see you tomorrow" said Conan as he run back to the car
Haibara just smirk as she waves at him and then she comes into the house. After the door is closed, she open her poker face that she has been using the whole time and quickly blush happily looking at the box on her hand and hug it closely to her. She didn't notice that Professor Agasa happen to see the whole scene and smile secretly
Conan comes into the car which got a smirk face on both Ran and Sato which Conan just blush while looking away. Ran can't help to smile happily as the car start to go
"Ai-chan sure is lucky…" thought Ran while looking at the blushing boy
Time Skip~
At Mouri Detective Agency
"Sato-keiji sure was happy right?" asked Ran to Conan
"Yeah…"
When they about to go home, Takagi lied about the problem with the GPS to force Sato to open the car compartment to see the map but much to her surprise to see a White day present from Takagi that he had put in that present for three days. Both Ran and Conan smile seeing the interaction but Conan always gaze to Ran who seemed down
After they got back to the agency, Conan can sense lacking expression on Ran's face
"Um… look, Ran-neechan…" said Conan in low voice
"Don't worry!" said Ran
"Eh?"
Conan was surprised by Ran's fast respond
"There's no way Shinichi would pay attention to something like white day. I can just have a long phone call with Sonoko and forget all about it"
"But…"
Suddenly Ran's phone ring which to be a message notification. She looks into it which to be a message from Sonoko saying that she got the white day present from Makoto. Seeing the email, Ran eyes change and she looks devastated
"Oh no… What do I do…" said Ran in low voice
"Ran-neechan…" said Conan as he walks closer
"Calling Sonoko seems to be… not a good idea"
Conan quickly goes in front of her and Ran seems to be letting out tears from her eyes. Conan grit his teeth as if he has no choice after all. He quickly looks behind and then take a big breath
"Ah re re? There's something in the door's mail slot" said Conan with a childish voice
"Eh?" asked Ran surprised
"Was it here before we left to the party?"
"No… don't tell me-"
Ran run toward the door and quickly grab the mail and as she read the mail which to be from the tax office so she just sighs. She open the door while Conan open his shoes and turn on the light
"What is it? A notice of deficiency? If I recall, the deadline to file a confirmed tax return is March 15th… wait that's tomorrow!" shout Ran as she open the mail immediately
Conan then look at Ran who seems stunned by the content of the mail which is not a notice paper but instead something else
"Cough drops?" said Ran surprised
Ran takes out the whole bag and then she found a little note reside by the bag of cough drops, she read it which to be from Shinichi
"You had a nasally voice ever since we came back from Karuizawa. Try these to help to heal your throat, signed Shinichi"
Ran blush happily by the gift as she gently open the bag
"White day… I want to say that I didn't have any expectations but now that I have gotten a return gift. It must mean that my feelings have been received" thought Ran as she quickly eats one cough drop happily
At the same time as Ran but different places. Not only Ran whose happily eating the white day gift but also Inspector Megure's wife, Midori, Eri, Sato, Kobayashi and also Haibara. The girls eat the return gift happily from their respective boys
Conan glad that Ran is getting better and he silently sits down as he plays with his phone. Moments later, Ran sits down while putting the bag of cough drops on the table
"Don't tell me you know about this Conan-kun!?" asked Ran
"Hmmmm did I?" said Conan as he giggles
"Seriously! You should have just told me!"
"No way, surprise is better right"
"Then why he didn't give me before we went to the party"
"Cough drops are more enjoyable after eating right. Shinichi-niichan seems to calculate the time you will go home so that's why he gives it this way"
Ran quickly blush by Conan's reasoning which make her very happy as she touch the cough drops bag
"When did you know about it?" asked Ran confused
"I saw him buying that when I was making white chocolate… He put it there at the same time as Ran-neechan got out from the door"
Ran just look at Conan unhappy since Conan was act sadly from the start to make her had low expectations of getting white day present from the boy's big brother
The next day
At Professor Agasa's house
"This chocolate is so good!" said Genta happily
"I never knew you can make this Conan-kun" said Ayumi
"Ahh… my mom taught me to make this and those chocolates were my fail tests" said Conan
"What are you trying to make anyway, this is already quite good" said Mitsuhiko surprised
"Just testing some ingredients, that's all. Don't worry the sugar is already balanced, Haibara"
"Fine, you can eat it Professor" said Haibara
"Yes!" shout Professor happily
They are all eating little chocolates that Conan made. Conan really did some tests when he made the white chocolate for Haibara. Haibara then realize that the white chocolate that she ate was actually homemade by Conan himself which make her secretly overjoyed by it but she didn't show it to anyone but she indeed surprised that the taste of the fail ones and the one she had was very different.
"Ah I remember, don't forget about tomorrow Conan-kun" said Mitsuhiko to Conan
"Don't worry, I remember" said Conan
