Shinichi and Conan are now at the Professor Agasa's house with the other detective boys, Professor Agasa, Ran and Kogoro for a BBQ party and sleepover. Shinichi invited Kogoro and Ran to join as well which Ran agree immediately while Kogoro was about to decline until Shinichi recommend him to come for playing mahjong with them since Professor Agasa has a mahjong set which Kogoro happily agree since it seems Kogoro doesn't have friends to play. Ran with detective boys are playing with Professor Agasa's game instead since they don't know about mahjong. The one who plays are the brothers, Professor Agasa and Kogoro, Haibara became an audience to see the play
"Ron!" shout Conan while showing his tiles
"B-Baiman?!" shout Kogoro shock
"You got to be kidding me, it's the 3rd time you win today" said Shinichi angrily
"Well Conan-kun is indeed the ace in mahjong in this case" said Professor Agasa laughing
"I have to thank dad for telling me all about mahjong" laugh Conan
After few rounds, they're finally taking a break from playing. Kogoro quickly chucked the whole beer cans unhappily after his lost in mahjong. The rest of them just sit on the sofa while watching TV, suddenly a certain show mentioning both Kid Killer and Kaito Kid while showing picture when both Kid and Conan are talking by the building when the Purple Nail heist happen
"Kaito Kid and Kid Killer rivalry always heated up in every heist! It's almost new month which means it will come closer to the day we can get to see their passionate rivalry!" said the MC in that TV show
"As expected from Conan-kun!" said Ran smiling
"I'm not really happy with it" thought Conan laughing looking at the TV
"Nee Conan-kun… There's something I have been curious about" said Mitsuhiko
"Hm?"
"When is the first time did you meet Kaito Kid?"
"Ahh! Ayumi want to hear too!" said Ayumi happily
"Me too!" said Genta
"I'm also curious, since you never talk about it" said Haibara smirking
Conan just laugh at their friends sudden interest on him fighting Kaito Kid. Suddenly Ran realize something
"Now that you mention it… I also don't know why Conan-kun suddenly interest fighting Kaito Kid. It began at that Black Star heist" said Ran thinking
"No, Black Star heist wasn't his first heist…" said Shinichi while closing his eyes
All of them look at Shinichi who shows a serious look, Conan on the other hand just look at him lazily
"It's April Fool, right?" said Shinichi smiling
"April Fool?!" asked all of them
"I think I don't need to count that as a heist since he didn't steal anything…" said Conan while drinking hot chocolate
"Tell us Conan-kun, don't just give us short words!" said Genta
"Yeah! Tell us!" shout both Mitsuhiko and Ayumi
"Fine fine fineee! So it all started when Ran-neechan show me a Kaito Kid notice for the first time… That time, I haven't officially moved here and just visiting Shinichi-niichan for vacation"

It is the day when many people make pranks and jokes to other people. April Fool falls in 1st April which is a perfect time by its name. People saw the day as prank day but for certain rivals, it is different occasion for both of them. April Fools' Day is the day of the first meeting between the infamous phantom thief, Kaito Kid and the famous Kid Killer, Edogawa Conan
But some people don't know that because of that notice, Edogawa Conan persona was born on that day
Flashback
"Sure it's been a long time Yukiko-chan, where's your husband though?" said Kogoro happily
"Kogoro-chan too! It's been a while too seeing you. Yusaku has a deadline to do so he locked himself in the library for the next week" said Yukiko laugh
Yusaku, Yukiko and Conan are visiting Japan for a friendly short vacation. Ever since the knife incident in his school, he has grown to be a quiet person. He rarely talks to anyone, even to his parents. After that day, both Yusaku and Yukiko agreed to dropped him out from the school and give him a full year rest. The parents even agree that if Conan can't be recovered from what happen, he will have to do homeschooling until he can go to college. The parents objective is to make Conan forget about what happen and so they have been taking Conan all around the world and even to Hawaii with Shinichi coming with them to at least change of environment by taking him in some places but it seems they're no improvement at all.
Now, Kogoro and Yukiko are having a light reunion after years not meeting each other, Shinichi and Ran are watching afternoon news and Conan just looking through the manga magazine that happen to be there. Shinichi silently gaze at his little brother that's right in front of him which Ran notice him
"What's wrong Shinichi?" asked Ran in low voice
"Eh ah nothing…" said Shinichi
"But still… Conan-kun sure is different now"
"You notice too, Ran? I'm also surprised by his change from last year and now"
"Last year, he was very polite and greet us happily like a child of his age but now… he acts like you but even colder"
"Oi oi, am I really that cold"
"But you did go to Hawaii last week right? You didn't talk to him at all?"
"Well… I got focus on things that dad teaches me but he always there with us"
"Try talk with him Shinichi! You're his big brother right!"
"I would have done that if we didn't have this kind of awkward distance"
Suddenly Sonoko barge into the agency with a big bang on the door which grab everyone's attention
"Ran! You have to hear this!" shout Sonoko
"Sonoko, what's wrong?" asked Ran surprised
"My dad got a notice from this thief who wants to steal our one of treasure, Black Star"
"Thief?" asked all of them confused except Conan who only hear her
"Ah Shinichi-kun's mom?! Wait… who is that?" asked Sonoko who just realize Yukiko and Conan
"This is Conan, my second son. He's 6 years old now" said Yukiko as he goes to Conan and pat his shoulders
"Nice to meet you" said Conan bowing slightly but still sitting on the sofa
"Now that you mention it, Shinichi-kun did mention having a little brother. He's really a replica of Shinichi-kun" said Sonoko surprised as she come closer
Of course he is, Conan now doesn't wear glasses which is shown that his face is indeed a replica of Shinichi when he was his age. Conan also aware of it since he already knows how Shinichi looks from pictures in their house
"So what is this about a thief?" asked Kogoro
"Ah the thief name is Kaito 1412" said Sonoko to Kogoro
"What's with the 1412?"
"Nobody seems to know its origin. He's an infamous thief that steals art and gems all over the world. 1412 was a secret number that the FBI, CIA or the Interpol gave him. That information was leaked to the media and I heard that's how he got the name"
"Sounds like pack of lies" said Shinichi seems bored by it
"Shut up Shinichi-kun, anyway apparently he got another nickname in Japan"
"It's probably just some play on the words" said Kogoro
"This is stupid, thieves are boring" said Shinichi as he stands up
"Where are you going?" asked Ran
"Toilet"
Sonoko just glare at the high school detective by his not interest on thieves. Conan on the other hand seems to show quite interest hearing this Kaito 1412.
"Oh yeah, I have a copy of the notice from Kaito 1412 that was delivered today. I have two copies here" said Sonoko as she gives the paper to Kogoro and Ran.
Yukiko goes to Kogoro side to see the paper while Conan just sit there without moving but his eyes focus on the paper on Kogoro's hand. They notice that the paper seems to be torn apart but put it together
"April Fool, When the moon divides two people under the name of Black Star, pushed by the waves I will arrive, signed Kaito… The rest is not there" said Kogoro as he read the notice
"Can't be helped, my dad got mad and tore it apart so we had to piece it back together" said Sonoko
"It's really weird, like a code" said Ran
Conan who heard Ran's words quickly got interest, he then stands up immediately
"Ran-neechan, can I see it?" asked Conan
"Eh ah um…" said Ran as she gives the paper to Conan
Conan quickly sit back to the sofa and look at the paper seriously. His behavior bought surprise by both Ran and Yukiko. Conan didn't talk one word to any of them ever since they arrived
"All we can know from here is that, he will appear tomorrow" said Kogoro
"Eh why?" asked Yukiko surprised
"Tomorrow is April 1st which is the exact time as this notice said. Since April Fool means April 1st"
"Oh yeah… That's why the guards in Beika Museum is very tight today" said Sonoko realized
Moments later, Shinichi comes out from the toilet and sat right beside Conan. He looks surprise to see how Conan got focus on the paper. Shinichi then play with his phone until suddenly someone taps his shoulder
"Nee, can I ask something?" asked Conan in low voice
"What is it?" asked Shinichi who look at him
"How to figure direction using watch?"
"Why suddenly?"
"I'm quite curious"
"Okay well…"
Shinichi show his watch and tell Conan how to use his watch to know directions, Yukiko notice his youngest son change of behavior and can't help to giggle quietly
"Like father, like son" thought Yukiko looking at Conan
Time Skip~
Conan silently walk by the corridor of his home and comes into the library which he quickly sees his father is asleep with many papers on the table. Conan quickly goes to one of the drawer near the table. He looks inside which luckily on the first try, he got what he needed, three piles of file books consisting of robbery crime files. He smirks as he gently takes it out, suddenly he found his dad's old glasses in the drawer and then he takes it.
Moments later, he walks out from the house and then goes to the neighbor house which to be Professor Agasa's house. He then takes a big breath and then knock on the door which Professor Agasa opens it and surprised to see him
"Conan-kun? What's wrong at this late night?" asked Professor Agasa surprised as he let him in
"Professor, can you do me a favor?" asked Conan as he put the files on the table
"What's wrong?"
"Can you look for information about Kaito 1412 inside these files for me"
"Sure but what are you going to do with that?"
"I'm going to meet him now, so I want some background information about him"
Professor Agasa was surprised as he sits down on the sofa near the table
"Meet him? You know where he is?!" asked Professor Agasa surprised
"Well I have an idea where he might be"
"Then why didn't you tell the police or at least Shinichi and your parents about this?"
"Mom already out to bed after night partying with her friends, dad is too busy with deadlines and Shinichi-niichan is doing a case so he's not at home. Also… I got the sudden urge to meet him in person" said Conan who seems let out a serious smile
"But…"
Conan then walk closer to the window and then look at the moon shines from the big window
"I become a little curious about this strange retro-thief who's crazy enough to announce his moves" said Conan smiles as he looks to Professor Agasa again
Professor look at the boy in surprised to see how serious he is. He just met the boy for a week but this is the first time he sees him seems to be serious and curious like his big brother when he was little. Yusaku already tell him everything that happen to Conan in LA so he pretty much already know Conan's background
"I know we just met few times but please help me Professor…" said Conan bowing to him
"Alright… but wait here" said Professor Agasa as he stands up
He goes through a table and goes back bring a pair of shoes which to be a child size shoes
"This is just a prototype, it's the Power-Enhancing kick shoes. You can use this to defend yourself if that thief suddenly want to attack you. If you turn this button, the shoes will give a power much to high schooler power which will not hurt your feet when you kick something hard" said Professor Agasa giving the red shoes to Conan
"Thank you Professor! But why…" asked Conan was very pleased by the gift
"Well I have been making gadgets but never got a chance to test it since it is for child size. I will contact you immediately after I got the information but please be careful Conan-kun"
"I will! Thank you so much Professor"
Conan quickly write his number for Professor Agasa, after that he take out his dad's glasses and take out the lenses out. Professor Agasa was surprised by his sudden actions which Conan notice it
"I don't want him to know about my identity and about my past… Putting some disguise wouldn't hurt right" said Conan smirking as he put on the glasses and the shoes
"Wait, give me the glasses for a moment. Let me adjust it quickly"
Time Skip~
Conan run toward the certain place where he will meet the mysterious thief. Shinichi who just about to go inside the house notice the boy run out from Professor Agasa's house. He got shock and without thinking chase him out. Suddenly at the intersection, he lost him. Shinichi become serious and then think hard
"Wait a minute… He did show an interest on that thief notice. Don't tell me, he wants to meet him?!" thought Shinichi start to worry as he run back home to take the motorcycle with him
Shinichi then look back to the notice on his phone that Ran send him by accident. He looks through the notice carefully
"When the moon divides two people… moon… people… ah satellite and the sun! Then his attention goes to… I see!" thought Shinichi as he put the phone on his jacket and rush to the place
"The satellite must be about BS satellite, the waves in the notice must be about electromagnetic waves. Conan did ask about how to know direction with a watch, which means that the thief should be coming from the direction of the BS broadcast signals. BS broadcast signals are sent southwest, 42.3 degrees above sea level. The only place that is within of Beika Museum and fits that description is… !" thought Shinichi serious as he powered up his motorcycle speed and determined where his little brother would be
At different place
Conan opens the rooftop door and see that no one is there yet so which means the thief hasn't come yet. He walks further and see the Beika Museum is full of lights and police helicopter. Conan takes out a firework in the can on the floor as he sits down by the rooftop.
He is now right on the rooftop of Haido City Hotel
The time shows 12:28 which left for him is to wait if his deduction is right or not. Suddenly Conan's phone rings but he knows that it must be Professor Agasa
"Hello? Is it Professor Agasa?" asked Conan to the phone
"Yes it's me, I just found the information about Kaito 1412 that you ask for" said Professor Agasa on the phone
"Nice Professor, so what is the information you got?"
"Kaito 1412 still seems to be shrouded by mystery. He first appeared 18 years ago in Paris, 10 years later, he suddenly disappeared and many said he passed away. However now, he has resurrected and is now mostly active in Japan"
"If he was active 18 years ago then he must be pretty old now"
"It should be… He had many nicknames like Heisei's Lupin or Magician Under the Moonlight but there seems to be one that's most familiar among people"
"Most familiar?"
"Kaito 1412 could easily fool a police force as if they were kids. A young writer became interested in this fact and twisted the 1412 to read as… K-I-D."
"K-I-D?
Conan suddenly got surprised by the sudden wind coming to his face, luckily Professor Agasa adjust the glasses giving lenses on it which let Conan's eyes got secured properly by the light and wind. Suddenly he felt a white presence near him
"Right… Kaito 1412 is known as…" said Professor Agasa serious
Conan still heard him but then his radar turns on as he looks back and there he is… A person comes to the rooftop of the entrance between the hotel and the rooftop itself.
"Kaito Kid!"
Covering with a cape and silk hat, he's shown to be in full white form in this night. Without disturbing the stillness of the night, he landed silently along with that fearless smirk that said he had foreseen everything. There he is, the person that Conan eagerly want to meet, the person that should be proclaimed the Magician of the Moonlight, Kaito Kid has appeared by his sight
"Conan-kun? What's wrong?!" asked Professor Agasa worried
"Thank you Professor, I call you again later" said Conan as he turns off the phone and put it in his pocket
Kid jumps down from that roof to the ground where Conan is standing and he walks closer to the boy as he inspects the white covered person seriously
"I can't see his face clearly because of the monocle and moonlight but he looks quite young… Thirties? Twenties? No… even younger…" thought Conan
The person himself just smirk as Conan turn back to light on the firework, the smirk on his face didn't fall at all as Conan didn't face him
"Hello little boy, what are you doing at a place like this?" asked Kid to the boy
Conan then light out the firework and as it explodes, lights up to the sky above them. He didn't look at the person at all and just look at the helicopter of the Beika Museum
"Now with the act" thought Conan
"I'm lighting a firework... Look! There's a helicopter. It looks like they have seen us" said Conan with a childish voice act
Kaito Kid look grim to the boy until then he shows the smirk again to the boy as it seems he has seen through the act of the boy in front of him
"Boy… you're not an ordinary brat. Who are you?" asked Kid confidently
Conan slight surprise that his act seems to be found out with that he let out a smirk and his glasses let out a light which covered his eyes. He then looks at the thief with pure confidence as high as the thief himself giving it to him
"My name is…"
Flashback
Two years ago in Los Angeles
Shinichi is there visiting with Ran after the events in New York. The original plan is that both high schoolers goes straight back to Japan after side seeing in New York but they cancel the plan with addition two days in LA since they don't have very good vacation in New York due to the case and Ran got sick for a day
Both Ran and Yukiko are having a girls hang out buying clothes and some souvenirs while the boys stay home. Conan now is watching as his father and big brother is having some kind of deduction showdown with a case in the newspaper and Conan just being the middle man on this argument
"No, the culprit should him! The evidence is clear enough pointing him" said Shinichi
"No no no… The evidences are altered by the real culprit" said Yusaku shaking his head
Both Yusaku and Shinichi look at Conan with serious look as Conan sigh as he quickly calls the police to ask about the case. Since the police already know about the fact that Conan is Yusaku's son so they gave in hurriedly about the results of the case
Few moments later
Shinichi fall down on the floor while Yusaku smirk to the high schooler. Conan just laugh while patting his big brother's back
"There you have it Shinichi… You can't beat your old man easily" said Yusaku
"Hahaha old man huh…" thought Conan laugh
"I heard that Conan-kun"
"Hahahaha…."
Conan quickly jump to the sofa continue to read an encyclopedia that Conan has been reading for a while now. Shinichi look at his brother for a moment which notice by Yusaku
"What's wrong Shinichi?" asked Yusaku
"Ah no… Conan sure love to read those kinds of books" said Shinichi
"Well this is the only kind of books that dad has in this house" said Conan unhappy
"Are you into mysteries?"
"Not really… I'm quite confused why dad give me this name without introducing having mystery books here"
"Eh?"
Shinichi was surprised by Conan's remark which then he look at his father. Conan then look confused by Shinichi's sudden change
"You didn't tell Conan?" asked Shinichi in low voice
"Eh ah hahaha…" laugh Yusaku
"What's going on?" asked Conan as he close the book
"Actually the one who give you that name is your big brother here"
"What?!"
"Hahaha… Well to be honest… Parents of ours didn't tell me about you at all until this old man told me that mom was in the hospital giving birth to you" said Shinichi as he stands up and put his hands on his pockets
"That's surprising… But why Conan of all names?"
"That time I was sitting on the floor by the library. Behind me was shown names of Edogawa Ranpo and Arthur Conan Doyle so I thought Conan will be a good name"
Back to present
"Edogawa… Edogawa Conan, a detective!" said Conan with a serious smile
"Oh? A detective huh…" said Kid starts to get interested
"Shouldn't you be worried, Kaito Kid-san? If you don't run fast, the helicopters will get here"
Kid then put his hand on his chin to think. Conan smirks as he bends down taking the can from the floor
"The moment he tried to run away, I will kick this can and use these shoes that Professor gave me earlier… Bring it on!" thought Conan smirking
Suddenly Kid let out a radio from his pocket which to be the police radio and he started to change his voice to call the police to go to the on top of the Haido City Hotel. Conan who witness it just look shock since Kid didn't use any devices to change his voices which make him slight admire by his skills but he ultimately confused on why this phantom thief have the guts to call the police to arrest him
Moments later, the helicopters arrive and lights up the whole rooftop
"Are you satisfied now, little detective?" asked Kid smirking
"This guy" thought Conan irritated by his cockiness
Shinichi just arrive to the hotel and shock to see many helicopters on top of the hotel and with that he rush inside the hotel immediately. Inspector Nakamori arrives to the rooftop and then took his gun out pointing to the thief
"Freeze Kid!" shout Inspector Nakamori
"My My, if it isn't Nakamori-keibu. You sure move fast as usual" said Kid
"Hm! I had deciphered your notice and had been waiting here for you all day. In any case, give up on that pearl already. You have nowhere to run!"
"Tonight is just a practice drill. I have no intention of stealing it. I'm sure I made it clear in my notice"
Kid suddenly let out his hang glider wings up on his back
"I said April Fool, in other words it's a joke!"
Inspector Nakamori and his subordinates about to get him until suddenly Kid let out a flash bomb in front of him which make the whole rooftop blinded by the light. Kid then face Conan with a winning look on his face
"Oi brat, did you know? Thief is a creative artist who take his prey in style, but a detective is nothing more than a critic who follows our footsteps" said Kid to the little boy
"What?!" shout Conan angrily
A gas comes out around him and he disappeared from everyone sight. Inspector Nakamori told the helicopter to look for him but they also lost him.
"You got to be kidding, no way a person could disappear that easily" thought Conan as he grits his teeth
Conan looks serious until suddenly he found a notice on the floor with a little flower on the side
"This is?!" shout Conan surprised
"Little boy! Give me that" shout Inspector Nakamori to Conan
"On April 19, aboard the Queens Elizabeth which embarks from Yokohama Harbor, I will arrive to steal the real Black Star. Signed, Kaito Kid"
Conan face change to irritation as Inspector Nakamori read the notice out loud which he smirks because that thief just ask for another battle
"Bring it on!" thought Conan as he squeezes his pants
Few moments later
Inspector Nakamori already send his subordinates down and some to the museum to give the news to the other team and of course to the owner of Black Star. Inspector Nakamori bend down to Conan size since he did ask the boy to stay for a while
"Little boy, where do you live? Let me get one of the officers to take you home" said Inspector Nakamori to the boy
"Ah well…"
Suddenly someone comes to the rooftop which to be the big brother of the little boy, Kudou Shinichi. Conan was surprised seeing his big brother
"Conan! What are you doing here?!" asked Shinichi slight angry
"Eh?! How did you…"
"You're not hurt right?!"
Shinichi quickly goes down to his size and hold both Conan's shoulders. Conan was surprised by his act but he just nods while Shinichi sigh in relief
"I see you run out from Professor Agasa's house. Luckily, Ran accidentally send the notice to my phone. I quickly figure out where are you since you did got interested in that notice"
"He figures out the place in short time…" thought Conan surprised
Shinichi only showed a confused look as Conan just stare at him in surprised. He also notices that his little brother is wearing glasses and new shoes that he saw for the first time while Inspector Nakamori look up to the high schooler and inspect him from top to bottom
"If I'm correct… You're Kudou Shinichi right? That famous high school detective" said Inspector Nakamori to Shinichi
"Yes… Nice to meet you keibu" said Shinichi bowing
"Ah Megure did tell about you a lot. My name is Nakamori, I'm the assign police officer on catching Kaito Kid. May I ask, what relationship did you have with this boy?"
"Ah he's my-"
"I'm his relative whose visiting here for vacation" said Conan hurriedly interject
Shinichi was shock that Conan lied about him being his little brother. He about to argue until Inspector Nakamori bend down to Conan and pat his head
"Little boy, are you curious with Kaito Kid?" asked Inspector Nakamori
"A little, since I figure out his notice so I want to see him by my own eyes. I'm sorry for interrupting the police investigation" said Conan as he bow down
"Ah no no, actually I want to thank you for keeping that thief here for a while. Well then it's already late, you two should head home"
Inspector Nakamori stands up and tell the other police officers to go back to the Beika Museum to tell Superintendent Chaki about what happen just now and the thief's new notice. One particular officer look at both brothers and smirk by the sight
"I see… The relative of the famous high school detective, this is getting more interesting" thought the officer before he went out from the roof
Time Skip~
Both of them just arrived home after the events, Conan and Shinichi didn't talk at all on their way home. Shinichi want to ask on why he lied to the police about their relationship but then again he didn't want to ruin his mood.
Why
It's the first time from they meet in Hawaii until now that Shinichi see Conan smile so confident and happily. It was all thanks to the phantom thief that he don't even know. As they about to go in, suddenly the light turns on and shows their parents whose waiting for them
"Where have you two been?!" asked Yukiko unhappy
"Eh well…" said Shinichi looking away
"Sorry mom… I meet Kaito 1412 just now" said Conan honest
"You what?! Shinichi, you know about this?!"
"Actually… I followed him… I accidentally see him run out and-" said Shinichi but got interrupted
"Conan! You are still six, you can't just go out late at night"
"I'm sorry…" said Conan looking down
"Yukiko, I think that's enough for now… It's already late, Shinichi have school tomorrow and you also have meeting with Kisaki-sensei right" said Yusaku calming his wife
"But-"
"Shinichi, you go to bed now. Conan, follow me"
Conan then follow his father to the library leaving Yukiko and Shinichi in the living room. Yukiko just sigh by Yusaku's act
"Then, what happen?" asked Yukiko to Shinichi
"Do you want the truth?" asked Shinichi serious
"What is it?"
"First, he told the police officers that he's not related to me and introduce himself as a relative of mine instead of little brother"
"He what!? wait a minute, but why?!"
"I don't know but there's another thing"
"Hm?"
"Conan is smirking happily the whole time"
"Eh…. EH!?"
Shinichi was surprised by his mother sudden reaction. She was angry at first but as she heard that Conan's behavior, she changed to very happy
In the library
Yusaku look at his youngest son serious while Conan just look down. Suddenly Yusaku lift him up and put him on the table so he's half size of Yusaku
"So… Care to explain?" asked Yusaku serious
"I'm sorry dad… I'm just really curious about him and by the time I solve the code, I eagerly want to meet him in person… I know I'm reckless and I'm sorry, I will not do it again" said Conan not looking at his father
Yusaku just sigh and then he goes to one of the drawer and let out a file book. Conan was confused until Yusaku give the file book to him. Conan take it and look at the cover shows the title which to be 'Kaito 1412 (2)'. Conan look at his father in confused but his father let out a small smile
"You want to catch him right?" asked Yusaku
"Eh…"
The father of the boy just smile to him and suddenly Conan's mind struck with realization. He remembered that Professor Agasa told him that a young writer who interested on catching Kaito Kid 8 years ago is the one who named Kaito Kid in Japan as he realizes the meaning of the thief's criminal number. Conan then understand, that young writer has to be his father, Kudou Yusaku
"I understand… you're the one who name Kaito Kid" said Conan in shock
"I see you read the first file of Kaito 1412 crime files or should I say, Professor Agasa tell you since you ask him to help you"
"As expected from dad… You read me like a book"
"What is your impression of him?"
"Well… He looks very young unlike what I had expected. Professor Agasa told me that he first appeared is around 18 years ago in Paris. I assumed that he would be quite old around your age but much to my surprised that he's still young and I'm very certain that he's using his real face"
"I see then my deduction could be correct"
Yusaku walk away from Conan and then sit on the chair. Conan quickly face him since his father let out a smirk on his face
"I will tell you a secret, the phantom thief that you meet just now is not the same as the one who appear 18 years ago" said Yusaku serious
"Eh… then, who?"
"I assume Kaito Kid right now is the second generation… Since the first and real one already died 8 years ago"
"Dad… Don't tell me that… You knew who is behind that monocle?"
"Yeah… The one that you're holding is the second crime file about his journey and information of the gems that he stole for 10 years. The third and final crime file is about my deduction and evidences pointing who's behind that one eyed monocle but by the time I finish that file, he already disappeared. That file should be in our little library in LA"
Conan look at his father in awe, he can't believe that his father also the one who chase him out years ago and now by destiny, Conan is chasing the second generation of Kaito Kid
"Then, if you give your files to the police, we can quickly get the Kaito Kid in advance right? Why you didn't give them now?" asked Conan
"Are you sure about that?" asked Yusaku serious
"Eh? What do you mean?"
"The moment I give the file to the police, then Kaito Kid will be captured by the police… not you"
Conan eyes shot up by surprised. He didn't think of it through, if the police catch Kaito Kid thanks to his dad's file then it will be worthless for him to chase him now
"I'm giving you a chance, do you want to be the one who unmasked him in public and captured him all by yourself… or you want to use my file to captured him which will only take two days to do it" asked Yusaku challenging Conan
Conan look at his father in surprised but then he let out a smile. Yusaku slightly surprised by the change of look of his youngest son which then Conan change the smile into a smirk
"I accept that challenge dad, I will capture him with my own hands!" said Conan in high confidence
"That's my son" said Yusaku as he pat Conan's head
"But I'm confused, why you let me do this?"
"Let's just say I'm also thankful for that thief which made me spare him immediately"
"Thankful? For what?"
"Making you smile for the first time ever since that incident…"
Conan can't help to surprise by the statement. He put the file on the table and rush to his father immediately. Yusaku was taken aback by Conan's behavior since he knows that he really didn't like to be hug or carried like a child but this time, Conan immediately goes to his embrace
"Thank you dad… For believing in me… I'm sorry for making you and mom worried" said Conan in low voice
"It's fine, you may have a body of a grade schooler but inside you're a high schooler so of course I will see you as that" said Yusaku who pat his back with a small smile
"Well it at least I can do to pay back my mistake for what I did to you in LA" thought Yusaku serious without Conan noticing
Yusaku look up to the ceiling still hugging Conan
"Toichi… I really owe you a big favor" thought Yusaku
With that, both of them stay in that position for a while as Conan seems quite happy and can't wait for the 19th April to meet that phantom thief again and catch him with his own hands

heichan201102: About that episode, I'm still thinking about it. I'm still confused to make it in the future timeline or made it as flashback chapter instead. It should be coming to this series if I didn't change my mind:)
So few chapters ago, I got a lot of reviews complaining about Kaito Kid lack of appearance in this series... Now let me take you to A LOT of Kaito Kid appearances in the next few chapters ahead~!
The main part was actually that I want to tell more about Conan's backstory and since he is a Kid Killer. If someday anyone ask about Heiji lack of appearance, don't worry, I already got that covered later in the future~~
