"I shouldn't have accepted Nakamichi's bet seriously! I had no choice to stay at his place for four hours straight!" thought someone angrily under the black helmet
One high schooler is driving his motorcycle in quite high speed. It's almost midnight and he didn't expect that he will miss seeing his little brother fight with his one and only rival, Kaito Kid
Flashback
At Teitan High School
"Kid sent a notice?" asked Shinichi surprised in front of his school seeing the little boy in front of him
It was his little brother who has been waiting for him to go out from his own school. Conan forgot to bring his substitute phone that Shinichi gave him before which make him have no choice to meet him in person
"Yeah, when I was about to go home after buying groceries, I see the news on the big screen. The notice said he will come tonight right at 11 PM in Suzuki Museum" said Conan while holding a bag of grocery
"Hmmm… What is the target?"
"The target is Blue Sky jewel, it is one of the most beautiful jewel with blueish color. Can I go there?"
"It should be fine by me, but I'm thinking of visiting Nakamichi first so you go on first. I will go there after that" said Shinichi as he looks at his watch
"Okay then! Here are the groceries for tonight's dinner. Since you are having dinner with Nakamichi-niichan right? I should be having light dinner later at Poirot and get going to that place"
"Hahaha you deduct it huh. Alright then, be careful okay!"
Conan waves at him as he dashes away with his skateboard while Shinichi just smile seeing his little brother's back while holding the groceries that he get from him
Back to present
At the museum
"You're late Shinichi-kun!" shout Sonoko
"Sorry sorry, I lost track of time at Nakamichi's which make me stuck in the rain. So what's going on?" asked Shinichi who just arrived
"Kid already escape, now Conan-kun is giving statement to Inspector Nakamori" said Ran looking at Conan
Shinichi look at his little brother with Inspector Nakamori and Jirokichi together and some reporters taking their pictures. He saw that Inspector Nakamori is holding a blue jewel on his hand which means Conan manage to get the jewel back
Conan sigh and then look that his big brother have come so he smiles to him but Shinichi surprised to see his smile and start to look at him serious
"Oi are you-"
"How did you know that Kid-sama is on the roof?" asked Sonoko quickly interrupted Shinichi's words
"He always goes there after stealing jewels, I suggest you try to stay on the roof next time Sonoko-neechan" said Conan with a small smile
"No way, I will miss his performance here then"
"Hahaha if we can, we're not small like Conan-kun who can go there very fast" said Ran bends down
Shinichi just look at his brother in surprised and worried. He knows his brother inside out and he can tell when he's acting. That smile just now, is indeed an act
"Did something happen?" thought Shinichi serious while looking his little brother's back
At Kudou's house
Conan walks toward his room quickly which surprised Shinichi. He knows something is wrong so without do anything, he quickly takes a peek at Conan's room. When he opens it, much to his surprised to see Conan lie down immediately facing the window
Shinichi goes inside and sit right to his bed, Conan cover his eyes with his arm so that Shinichi didn't see his face
"What's wrong buddy? Is there something wrong?" asked Shinichi worried
"No… there's nothing"
"We know that's a lie"
Conan seems unhappy with Shinichi's remark and when he faces Shinichi. Much to the big brother surprised to see an anger mix of sadness hinted on his eyes
"Oi what happen?!" shout Shinichi
"Niichan… Can you leave me alone for now… please" said Conan in low voice
Shinichi was shock by his brother, just what in the world happen which make him be in this state. Shinichi knows that Conan will never tell him even if he forces him so he has no choice to obey his little brother's wish and goes out from the room. He close the door and stay there in confused
"Conan… what happen?" thought Shinichi worried looking at the door
In Conan's room
Conan takes off his glasses while looking at the moon right from the big window on his room. He grits his teeth as he throws his glasses to the carpet under his bed and he throws himself inside the blanket in anger
"It is really the end…" said Conan in anger
Time Skip~
It's been a week since that heist, Conan didn't even tell Shinichi what's going on but he didn't press his brother much because he knows that he will not answer it. They are now sitting on the sofa in front of the TV together. Although the TV is showing news, both of them are engrossed with the files that Shinichi bring from the police headquarters. Conan seems better after that day and he back to himself in no time so Shinichi quite glad that it's not hurting his psychology that much
"Oohh so the culprit use this bridge as his advantage?" asked Conan showing the file about the bridge right beside the body
"Yeah, for the trick is clear… Just need proof so that the culprit confessed. Well Inspector Megure said that he will give me the statements files later night"
"Kaito Kid send another notice!" said the newscaster which grab both of their attention
"Tomorrow night at 7 PM, I will steal the darkest jewel, Black Rose. I'm hoping some waters near them to show the true colors of the beautiful jewel. Signed Kaito Kid" said the reporter reading the notice heist
Conan sees it once and then goes back to the files which surprised his big brother. Every time there's a heist, his little brother will always write it and try to figure out what the phantom thief means but now he just look once and then didn't even budge
"Okay that's it! Now is a good time that I get proper explanation" said Shinichi as he snatched the files away from Conan
"Oi wait-"
"I don't know what happen between you and that phantom thief, but I already waited for a week but you still didn't tell me. Seriously what's wrong?"
Conan just look away and don't want to answer his question as if he's just keeping what happen to him. Shinichi just sigh as his little brother didn't budge. Suddenly Shinichi's phone rings which to be Ran
"Hello?"
"Ah Shinichi! Are you with Conan-kun now?" asked Ran
"It's about Kid-sama!" shout Sonoko who seems to be beside Ran
"Yeah he's beside me, wait I will speaker it"
Shinichi then speaker his phone so that Conan can listen
"Jirokichi-ojiisama ask me to invite Conan-kun for the heist tomorrow, can you come tomorrow at-" said Sonoko but then interrupted by Conan
"I'm sorry, I'm not coming. I promise to help Professor Agasa to test his game" said Conan serious while reading the case files
"Conan…" thought Shinichi
"What?! You declined Kid-sama! How?!" shout Sonoko surprised
"It's rare Conan-kun not joining the heist?" asked Ran surprised
"Just not into it hehe, I'm more interested in the game. I want to go to toilet, you can continue"
Conan then get off from the sofa and goes to the bathroom, Shinichi switch to call mode
"Shinichi… Is Conan-kun okay?" asked Ran worried
"I will be lying if he's okay. He's been acting weird ever since the last heist. Do you know what happen between them?" asked Shinichi serious
"I don't know, the brat seems as usual fighting with Kid-sama… Ahh but last heist, Kid-sama was acting weird"
"Weird?"
"It's like he's angrier than usual when the brat figures his trick? I don't know maybe just my imagination"
Shinichi start to suspect something weird so he asks Sonoko if she can get the rooftop CCTV record from Jirokichi. Sonoko said that she can and she will give it tomorrow at school
Time Skip~
At Teitan High School
"Shinichi-kun, here what you asked yesterday" said Sonoko giving the USB consisting the CCTV record
"Thank you Sonoko… now let's see"
The three high schoolers are now at the library using the computer so that they can see the recording. Moments later, they see it, Kaito Kid is looking at the jewel at the end of the rooftop. Seconds afterward, Conan barges in and then Kid tossed the jewel to Conan. It seems he's talking his little brother but he can see the change on Conan's face while Kid seems showing an anger look to the boy.
"Oi, did those two fighting?" asked Sonoko looking at the video
"It seems Kid is angry to Conan-kun?" asked Ran worried
Suddenly Conan's expression to change to anger and shout something to Kid but the thief just shove his face away and let out smoke bomb and disappear from the roof. Shinichi look at his little brother who then hit the wall with his fist and goes back inside
The video ends right there
"There's something happen between those two" thought Shinichi serious
"Shinichi?" asked Ran
"I think we can conclude that what happen between them here is the reason why Conan doesn't want to join the heist today. With that, Sonoko… Sorry but can you tell Jirokichi-san that Conan will not be joining today?" asked Shinichi serious
"Ah okay, I'm still going there with Ran since my parents are going to be there… How about you Shinichi-kun?"
"I think I prefer look from afar"
Time Skip~
Conan really did stay at Professor Agasa for the night to which give Shinichi chance to see the phantom thief show without joining the police forces. He also asked Ran to hold a pen which have a transmitter attached to it. Shinichi now is in the café right in front of the museum and listening to everything from Inspector Nakamori surprised that Conan didn't join and Jirokichi shouting about the priceless jewel
As the stealing show start, it seems just a regular that Conan would always tell but at the certain moment he heard the thief voice near Ran and Sonoko
"Where's the boy in glasses?" asked Kid
Shinichi surprised and start hearing seriously. The fact that the phantom thief is searching his rival
"Kid-sama! You're so cool!" said Sonoko happily
"Conan-kun isn't here, he has something to do today" said Ran
"I see… It must be from that time" said Kid in low voice but the sound catch into the transmitter
"Hm?" thought Shinichi as hearing it
"Well then, see you next illusion"
Shinichi then heard a bomb sound and the girls coughing so it must be smoke bomb. After that he let go the ear bud and look at the museum serious
"Just what is going on between them"
At Professor Agasa's house
Conan is at Professor Agasa's roof along with his friends who are playing fireworks
"Ahh finally fresh air" said Genta happily
"It's because you guys play for whole three hours" said Conan while resting his back on the door
"It's fine right! But you're the one who suggest us to play right Conan-kun" said Mitsuhiko
"Yeah yeah"
Haibara suddenly notice a shadow and she looks up and much to her surprised to see a silhouette step down right between the three kids who are playing with fireworks and the two kids who are near the door
"Ka- KAITO KID?!" shout the four kids except one particular who glare at him
"Yo Detective boys, sorry for barging through your little fun time" said Kid smirking
Conan seems didn't like the fact that Kaito Kid is here so he hurriedly takes the door handle and about to go away from the rooftop
"Wait Tantei-kun! I want to ask why you-" said Kid but interrupted
"Why? You're the one who said that you don't want me around?" said Conan without looking at the thief
"That was-"
"Just go away and don't interrupt me anymore"
Those words hit the thief which make him stop talking, with that Conan close the door and leave from the roof. Kid just give a shock look that the kids never see the thief like that before, Haibara look at the thief serious and go near him
"Mind telling us what happen?" asked Haibara
"Sorry I can't tell you miss... Then since I already ruin your fun time, I should leave"
Kid then go straight back up which to be his hang glider still attach with him and he goes away. Conan looks through the window and just sigh in annoyed look
"He's the one who shook me off but he's the one who search. What a nuisance" thought Conan with his hands folded
Haibara went down and notice that Conan look pissed and sad at the same time. She goes closer, sit beside him and hold his shoulder. Conan was surprised but he just smiles to Haibara and thank her not to ask any further
On the sky on the other hand the phantom thief fly while holding his head with regret look
"I really am an idiot…" said Kid in anger
Time Skip~
Conan haven't talked about what happen and just shut himself up. Kid also making a record by doing heists more than three times in two weeks and none of the heists Conan attend, as if he doesn't want to see the phantom thief anymore. One time, the reporter who interview Shinichi after murder case ask a surprising question
"Is Kid Killer retiring for chasing Kaito Kid?"
In normal cases, Shinichi would be laughing his heart out because of the question from what they deduct just by Conan's three absence on Kid heists but this time, Shinichi himself not sure if his brother really retiring or not and he just lied that Conan have been very busy lately. Haibara also tell him about what happen at the day of the Black Rose heist when Kid suddenly barge to Professor Agasa's roof and their encounter.
Right now, Shinichi, Conan, Ran and Sonoko is on their way home from school. Just yesterday, there was a heist by Kaito Kid and the two high school girls attend it
"Kid-sama sure is handsome yesterday when taking the painting!" said Sonoko happily
"Hahaha Sonoko… but Kaito Kid is weird to chase a painting, he always after big jewels right"
Shinichi just look at his two childhood friends talking about heist last night but he's also thinking about what happen at the Black Rose heist. The fact that Kid is looking for his rival that always by his way, but the only thing that he worried the most is his little brother
Why?
The fact that now when Sonoko and Ran talking about Kaito Kid, he just uses his earphone so that he didn't hear or say anything. His mother told him that Conan would act like this when they were at LA so he just returning to his old self which make Shinichi very worried
"I need to do something!" thought Shinichi serious
With that he resolve to do what he needs to do
"Conan! You stay at Ran's okay, I will take you later tonight" said Shinichi while tapping his shoulder
"Where are you going?" asked Conan while taking off his earphone
"I forgot that I have to gather some information about the murder case few days ago, Ran take care of him for me okay!"
Shinichi then run from them ignoring Ran and Conan's shouting
Time Skip~
Shinichi is now in front of a certain school with his motorcycle and look at it serious
Ekoda High School
"Kudou Shinichi?"
Shinichi was surprised by someone who call him and to his surprised to see Hakuba Saguru with school uniform
"Hakuba Saguru?! You're a student here?!" asked Shinichi surprised
"Yes, what a surprised seeing you here, are you looking for someone?" asked Hakuba smirking
"A…ahhh no, you know murder case at Haido City Hotel last week right? One of the suspects is school janitor here so I want to get information"
But it was a lie
"Hakuba-kun! What are you- wait who are you?" asked a girl
"Ran?!" thought Shinichi surprised but he shrugged it when he looks closely at her
"This is the high school detective Kudou Shinichi, you might know him from newspapers" said Hakuba
"AHHH I KNOW! My dad always talk about you, my name is Nakamori Aoko, nice to meet you" said Aoko happily
"Hello my name Kudou Shinichi, hmm Nakamori? Oohh you're Nakamori Ginzo-keibu's daughter?"
"Yes! Ah wait- Kaito! Come here"
"What is it Aho-"
Kaito surprised to see Kudou Shinichi in front of his school of all places, Aoko then pull Kaito closer to Shinichi
"This is bad, but wait… He rarely fights me so I should be fine right" thought Kaito
"This is Kuroba Kaito! Kaito, go greet him" said Aoko
"Aah… my name is Kuroba Kaito, nice to meet you"
"Kudou Shinichi, nice to meet you"
Hakuba then uses his chance to ask Shinichi a great sensitive question
"Kudou-kun, have you ever went to the Kaito Kid heist before?" asked Hakuba straight
"Hmmm only few times, the one who always face him is my relative after all"
"Relative?" asked Aoko
"You know, Edogawa Conan" said Shinichi proudly
"EHHH you're his relative?! Aoko always want to meet him!" said Aoko happily
No one notice that one person is tightened his fist under his pocket hearing Kid Killer name
"But Edogawa Conan-kun didn't go to the heist for few times now? The media start to assume that he's retiring, is it true?" asked Hakuba
"He has been busy with school and other stuffs, no matter how you look at it, he's still a grade schooler. Still it is funny on how they judge it just by Conan three heist absent"
"Weird… for a guy like that to prioritize other things" said Hakuba who feel something's off
"What do you mean Hakuba-kun?" asked Aoko curious
"Edogawa Conan-kun is a very smart boy, he can know little things that sometimes adults can't see… So I always assume that he have no need to focus on his studies and he always in top front when it comes catching Kaito Kid?"
"Well he's still a child Hakuba-san, child of his age also need time to play with his friends after all. So what are going to ask?"
Hakuba then whisper him something but Kaito know so much what is he asking about and Shinichi who hears it just smirk
"It's a great deduction but I think you need more solid evidence Hakuba-san. I can't say you're right and wrong because Kaito Kid is not my jurisdiction. You should ask Conan next time you meet him, but I think it would be impossible since Conan himself haven't met the person you are talking about" said Shinichi smiling
"I see, thank you for your time to hear me"
With that Hakuba goes away from them and head towards his home.
"Um… Can you guys show me where the teacher's office are? I need to collect some data" said Shinichi to Kaito and Aoko
"Aoko have something to do! Kaito you guide him okay, nice to meet you Kudou-kun!" said Aoko
"Wait Aoko!"
Before Kaito press more, Aoko already run away toward her home leaving the two boys. Kaito have no choice to guide the big brother of his rival
"Park your motorcycle over there, I will guide you to teacher's office" said Kaito
"Thanks"
Time Skip~
Kaito is waiting for Shinichi outside the teacher's room and he sees Shinichi who's talking with some teachers who happily greet him, well since he is famous high school detective. Shinichi goes out and bow to them and thank them. He sees that Kaito is still there
"You're done right? Well then I will leave then" said Kaito who about to bid farewell
"Wait"
Kaito stop his tracks and Shinichi look at Kaito serious
"Can we talk somewhere private?" asked Shinichi
"Why?"
"There's something I want to confirm to you and I'm sure you don't want anyone to hear it"
Kaito was nervous so bad but he can't run away so he obeys and take him to his classroom that should be empty since the students already went home. With that Shinichi stay at the teacher desk and look at Kaito seriously
"To think the infamous phantom thief Kaito Kid is the same age as me and inherit the act from the first Kaito Kid, Kuroba Toichi" said Shinichi straight
That caught Kaito off guard but he still gives a proper poker face like what his father always told him
"Hahaha what are you saying, is it because what Hakuba just said? Come on you can't just judge me without evidence" said Kaito slight laughing
"Well from Hakuba, he did just judge you without showing any proper evidence but I'm not a detective who quickly shout the culprit without evidence in my hand. Which of course the fact I'm showing myself to you means I have enough evidences to point you as the second generation of Kaito Kid"
Shinichi tossed seem to be thick envelope to Kaito and he open it to which he surprised to see a fingerprint result, DNA result from a hair and the one that he shock the most, Kuroba Toichi and Konosuke Jii profile. He was surprised on how Shinichi got his fingerprint in the first place while his hair, he's not that surprised since Hakuba also proclaimed that he got it
"I got your fingerprint perfectly on the transmitter from Conan's clothes from the Purple Nail heist. It seems you forgot to erase the fingerprint from that transmitter since the people who touch it bare handed is only me and Conan. For your hair, I got the data from Nakamori-keibu but I didn't expect that it was Hakuba who got it"
Kaito was shock by his biggest mistake that he made while playing his role as Kaito Kid. He never expected that Shinichi is silently search for him this whole time. What a bad luck that is, which make him got caught so easily
"My father already know from the beginning who's the first Kaito Kid so it's not that hard to track the second Kaito Kid. I had to give up my pride to ask my dad a favor which is about his investigation of Kaito Kid from 8 years ago. That data is what my dad did 8 years ago and I just compare it with my own evidences, the reason my dad never give it to the police is because he made and completed that file after Kaito Kid not appearing anymore and presumed dead"
Kaito was shock on how prestigious the evidences and details inside the envelope then he just smiles and gives up. The fact that his own father, the first Kaito Kid is already found out by someone which to be Shinichi's father, he has no choice to give in to the great detective
"It seems I can't get away with this, so you want to arrest me?" asked Kaito smirking
Shinichi just show a serious look and then look to the window showing some boys is practicing soccer on the field
"No" said Shinichi in low voice
"Eh?"
Kaito was surprised by Shinichi's answer. Since with that many evidences, he can always give it to Inspector Nakamori to get the arrest warrant immediately
"You are not in my jurisdiction, you are my little brother's jurisdiction. Arresting you is his job and not mine and I will keep it that way" said Shinichi serious
"What… Then why you face me so daringly like this? You even have this perfect evidences pointing me as the culprit"
"I want answers in exchange for those evidences. It's one of the two copies that I made and I already delete the file from my computer. I need to keep one copy in my library and I swear that I will not give it to the police"
Kaito knows where this is going, since why would Kudou Shinichi bother to go far away from Beika to Ekoda just for getting suspect information when he just can ask the police to get it. He has bigger plot on his mind
"Fine, what do you want to know?" asked Kaito gives up since he also needs to keep his identity a secret for his own sake
Shinichi look at the real Kaito Kid face in front of him who seems to be in for the exchange. Kaito can already imagine that the great detective will ask about why he put the act of Kaito Kid knowing his curiosity
"What happen at the Blue Sky jewel heist a month ago? To be exact, what happen between you and Conan on the roof?" said Shinichi straight

It should be coming after a certain Movie based chapter coming in few chapters so I hope you can wait and expect it!:)
For this series, I added my original plot and biggest plot development. The fact that Shinichi already know Kaito Kid's true identity which is Kuroba Kaito!
Will this effect in future chapters? Of course it will!
Also I'm bad at naming things so I'm sorry if it's weird names for the jewels
