"Ouch! Be gentle!" said someone in pain
"Seriously, hold still" said the other person unhappy
The two grade schoolers, Haibara and Conan are now sitting on the bench in the park. Detective boys are playing soccer with Shinichi, Ran and Sonoko looking after them but suddenly Genta accidentally hit Conan's shoulder with a soccer ball which make his wound open again so now Haibara is treating his open wound
"You shouldn't have played if your wound is still like this! Seriously, learn to protect your body" said Haibara angrily
"I know I know! You don't have to yell at me again" said Conan unhappy
Shinichi, Sonoko and Ran giggle at the grade schoolers situation. Well indeed Conan is at fault for forcing himself to play soccer knowing his shoulder wound is not healed yet which is why Shinichi didn't play with them since his feet are still full of bruises after what happen in Touto Stadium.
"But I kind of agree with Ai-chan. Conan-kun always reckless and careless with his own body" said Ran
"Not you too Ran-neechan..." said Conan unhappy
"What do you mean Ran?" asked Sonoko
"Do you remember when you ask Shinichi and I accompany you to that magic lovers club" said Ran trying to make everyone remember
"Ah that time!"
Conan froze in place as he remembered what Ran means, the people who notice the sudden behavior is Haibara and Shinichi only
"But if I have to say, half of it is Sonoko's fault" said Shinichi while folding his hands
"What do you mean?!" asked Sonoko angrily
"If that time, you didn't force me to go there. We wouldn't meet that case and Conan don't have to force himself like that"
"Then you prefer that Ran and I are in trouble?!"
Shinichi and Sonoko got into a glaring contest which Ran trying to calm both her friends down. Conan just sigh while Haibara look intense to the glasses boy as if demanding answer
"You want to know huh" said Conan smirk
"All of you started it" said Haibara as she's done treating Conan's wounds
"Fine fine… If I'm not wrong, it was last year. That time, Sonoko-neechan want Shinichi-niichan to join her and Ran-neechan to some magic lovers club meeting but Niichan really didn't want to come"
"Is it because she doesn't want you to come as well?"
"No, that time, I have a very bad cold"
Conan just let out a small smile to Haibara as he looked up to the sky remembering the events
Flashback
At Kudou's house
"Please Shinichi-kun!" said Sonoko begging Shinichi
"I can't, Conan is sick so I have to take care of him. He has been in bed for few days now" said Shinichi didn't like the invitation
"Eh Conan-kun is?" asked Ran surprised
"Ah-choo!"
The three high schoolers avert their attention to the sick boy who just arrived to the living room while wearing a jacket and seems to be holding his body
"Oii, where's the tea and medicine?" asked Conan in low voice
"Ah sorry sorry, in a minute"
Shinichi dash to the kitchen to prepare the tea that is supposed to be good for healing his cold. Ran quickly take over to make the tea so Shinichi goes to his little brother and help him sit on the chair
"Wuah, you really are sick" said Sonoko
"Of course, why I have to lie being sick?" asked Conan unhappy as he coughs hard
"Ahahaha sorry sorry"
"That's why I can't go… It's been almost a week and he's still like this. Well, mom did tell me that he has a history for having a cold often and it always took him a long time to heal" said Shinichi unhappy as he gives Conan a tissue
"Then why not ask Ran's father to take care of him in the weekend! It will be no problem, right Ran?" said Sonoko convincing
"Hmm… I don't know, you know dad doesn't like looking after Conan-kun when I'm not around. How about Professor Agasa?" said Ran
"Professor is away for science convention until next week. That's why I haven't been to school either" said Shinichi as he took Conan by his arms
"Just ask Kogoro-ojiisama to take care of him. Let me do the talking… I know a perfect way to make him do it" said Sonoko smirking
Shinichi and Conan realize what she's going to do to make Kogoro do the job. Shinichi look at Conan who seems to be shivering
"It's fine, go on. If Occhan can take care of me then it's alright" said Conan as he coughed
"Are you sure?" asked Shinichi worried
"I will be fine, it's not like there will be a case or whatsoever"
Shinichi look worried by his little brother but since Sonoko really force him to go with her then he has no choice to agree.
Time Skip~
In the car, Shinichi sit on the back with Ran and Sonoko while Conan in the front beside Kogoro who's driving. Conan was much better rather than days ago when Sonoko ask Shinichi to join so which make Shinichi can leave him with Kogoro without worrying anything. The girls talk about the magic lovers club online that Sonoko join
"But are you sure about us joining, you even force me to come" said Shinichi
"It's fine, I told them that I bought girlfriend and her friend" said Sonoko
"Hah?" asked both Ran and Shinichi surprised
Since the way to the lodge is by the side of the cliff so, they had to walk there. They walk through the bridge
"What?! you pretend to be a man?!" asked Ran surprised
"And you want me to pretend as you?!" asked Shinichi didn't believe
"Yes, this will be interesting" said Sonoko
"Oi oi is this cosplay party" thought Conan who overheard everything
"But shouldn't they know about Suzuki Sonoko as a girl?" said Ran
"We use nickname to talk, that's why we don't know each other gender. Example, my nickname is Magician's Apprentice and Katsuki is Red Herring"
"Then, how did you know about his name then?" asked Shinichi
"I email him of course! Ahh I can't wait to meet the people from the internet that I can't see in real life"
"Yes yes" said Ran smiling to her best friend
All of them go toward the side of the bridge until Kogoro look around
"Hey did you smell something weird around here?" asked Kogoro
"Hm? Now that you mention it…" said Shinichi while looking at the bridge
"Ah-choo!"
Shinichi and Kogoro look at Conan who wipe his nose which make Shinichi just bitter laugh
"Oh yeah, how did Sonoko manage to make you look after Conan?" asked Shinichi to Kogoro
"She told me that if I look after this brat, she will get me a front row seat to Okino Yoko's upcoming concert that already sold out… oh Yoko-chan!" said Kogoro with grimly smile face
"Ahahaha… I knew it"
As they almost arrived to the lodge, Kogoro quickly have a good talk to Shinichi to protect his daughter at all costs which Shinichi quickly said yes since Kogoro scared him. When Sonoko ring the lodge bell, someone comes out and welcome them
"Welcome, ah you are the young lady known as the Magician's Apprentice" said the guy who open the door to Sonoko immediately
"Eh?" asked Sonoko, Ran and Shinichi surprised
"How did you know, that I'm the one?" asked Sonoko surprised
"I could tell from the way you spoke, that is the tone of a lady trying to act as a guy. I see you bought a friend who tried to act as you I see"
"Yeah he's right" said a girl who's wearing glasses right behind the guy, Kuroda Naoko
"Ah shoot…" said Sonoko embarrassed
"I know it that this is not a good idea" thought Shinichi unhappy
"If you want to do that, you should learn from Tanaka-san" said the guy who wears white blazer, Hamano Toshiya
"I didn't purposely start pretending to be a male" said the other girl, Tanaka Kikue
"Ah let me introduce you, my name is Ara Yoshinori. The owner of this lodge and he is the housekeeper, Sugama Kiyohiro" said Yoshinori pointing at Kiyohiro
Sonoko quickly bow to them and then suddenly someone goes down from the stairs which to be a fat guy that was supposed to be Sonoko's friend that she hope to be.
"Ah you must be Magician's Apprentice, it's me Doito Katsuki" said Katsuki to Sonoko
"No way…" thought Sonoko dejected
Shinichi and Ran giggle at Sonoko's misfortune. As all of them are talking with Sonoko, Yoshinori quickly notice them and assume they are Sonoko's acquaintances
"You two must be the supposed friend and girlfriend of Magician's apprentice" asked Yoshinori
"Ahahaha yes, my name is Kudou Shinichi. This is my relative, Edogawa Conan" said Shinichi nodding
"My name is Mouri Ran and this is my father who take us here, Mouri Kogoro" said Ran smiling
"I see, then let's go inside" said Yoshinori
"Ah it's okay, I'm just brought them here. I'm supposed to go now" said Kogoro as he give Ran's bag and Sonoko's carriage to Shinichi
"Alright Conan, be a good boy to Mouri-tantei or do you want to stay here?" said Shinichi
"Ah-choo! It's alright, I prefer to sleep in Ran-neechan's home which is not as cold as here. Have fun, Tell me everything tomorrow okay" said Conan holding his jacket
"Alright, I leave him to you Mouri-tantei"
"Yeah yeah, let's go brat"
Kogoro and Conan walk away from the lodge and the rest goes inside. All of them are already inside the lodge, Shinichi take his bag with the other two girls, much to his surprised that he has no choice but to share room with Katsuki instead. He quickly unpacks his stuff in his room as he waits for dinner is ready, Katsuki comes in and then sit on his bed
"I'm surprised, the famous high school detective Kudou Shinichi is coming here" said Katsuki smiling to Shinichi
"My friend force me to come after all, I'm surprised that you know about me?" asked Shinichi who seems surprised and laugh at it
"There's no one that don't know about you. The great detective who can solve any case he gets and the relative of the Kaito Kid's new rival, Edogawa Conan"
"Oh? You also know about my relative as well"
"Of course, since he did help the police trying to get Kaito Kid. I think I slightly see him with a mask on earlier, is he sick?"
"Yeah, he got a cold. Well I hope Mouri-tantei can take care of him for me"
"Of course he can since your relative is very smart, I mean he even can be your assistant on cases"
Shinichi look at Katsuki for a while until he let out a small smirk until suddenly Kiyohiro knock on their door and tell them that dinner is ready and so they go out from the room
Time Skip~
After dinner, Toshiya tried to contact the leader again but the phone seems cut. Moments later, Ran seems surprised and look through the window in confused which grab her friends attention
"What's wrong Ran?" asked Shinichi
"Ah I thought I heard someone screaming" said Ran while looking outside
"No way, in this secluded place?" asked Sonoko surprised
"What did you hear?" asked Shinichi seems took it serious
"If I'm not wrong, it's 'Niichan'… but more like a scream" said Ran
"Eh?"
"Wait, isn't that what the brat call Shinichi-kun" said Sonoko who look confused
Without seconds, Shinichi quickly go to the front door followed by Ran and Sonoko. When they open the door, much to their surprise to see Conan who passed out on the snow right in front of the lodge
"Conan/Conan-kun!" shout both Shinichi and Ran
"What?!" shout Sonoko shocked
Shinichi quickly run to him and get him in his arms. Ran check his forehead which he has a high fever. Suddenly, Conan open his eyes and look to his brother's eyes
"Run… run away…" said Conan in low voice and heavy breathing
"What?" asked Shinichi worried
"Hurry, run away… from… this… place"
Before Conan continued his words, he passed out. Shinichi was shock seeing how fragile his little brother right now
"Conan! Oi Conan! Hang in there, Conan!" shout Shinichi trying to wake him but the boy is nowhere of waking up
"Shinichi! We have to bring him inside!" said Ran panic
Shinichi nods as they go inside and suddenly they see Katsuki who happen to walk near got surprised when Shinichi bought Conan which he quickly dashes upstairs to his room
"What? Isn't that?!" shout Katsuki surprised
"Please ask someone if they have medicine for fever and cold please?" asked Ran worried
"I have one in my room, I will go get them"
Katsuki goes upstairs while Ran and Sonoko goes to the kitchen to take a bowl of water for the boy and told the rest about the sudden boy appearance. In upstairs, Shinichi quickly put him on his bed and take off his glasses. He looked at his little brother closely and then take off his blazer
"What is going on… Why did you come back here…" thought Shinichi worried
Moments later, the rest of them goes to Shinichi and Katsuki's room. They were shock by the boy's appearance, Shinichi quickly put the towel on his forehead gently
"The boy was lying outside?!" asked Toshiya
"But why would he come back here?" asked Yoshinori
"Maybe he wants to stay here" said Naoko
"I don't think that's the case" said Ran serious as he looked at Conan worried
"Eh?"
"Conan-kun said… run away from this place…"
The words from Ran surprised the people inside the room
"What does that mean?" asked Toshiya start to get scared
"We don't know, he fainted after that" said Sonoko
Just then, Katsuki goes beside Shinichi and then give Shinichi some medicines for fever
"I got some medicine, I'm sure it's just a normal cold so he just needed some rest" said Katsuki as he touched Conan's forehead
"Thank you" said Shinichi as he tried to give Conan the medicine
"You are sure?" asked Sonoko to Katsuki
"I forgot to tell you that I'm studying medicine" said Katsuki as he stood up
"Ehh?!"
"I will try to contact the leader again, let's wait by the dining room" said Yoshinori
All of them goes outside except Ran and Shinichi who stay behind to look after Conan. Shinichi change his towel again and look at him who seem to give a more relaxed look in his sleep
"Shinichi… calm down, Conan-kun is alright now" said Ran calming her childhood friend
"Ah I know… I'm just very worried" said Shinichi
"But what would he mean by run away?"
"I don't know… but there must be something happen. You heard him before he went away with your father, he didn't want to stay here yet why he suddenly come back like this"
Ran then becomes worried by Shinichi's words but she can see how worried Shinichi is to his little brother. Not to mention, knowing the boy, he will not make his big brother worried about just coming back to stay. Few moments later, Sonoko comes in and ask for the boy's condition
"How's Conan-kun?" asked Sonoko
"He's fever seems to be going down" said Ran smiling as she held his forehead
"I'm glad…"
Ran and Sonoko move to Katsuki's bed and sit as they watch the sleeping boy. Shinichi look at him worried as he sits beside Ran as well
"Sonoko, Katsuki-san seems not a bad guy as you say he is" said Ran
"Yeah… I hear he is studying medicine too, besides that… Have you figured out why Conan-kun is here?" asked Sonoko
"No… we have to wait for him to wake up" said Shinichi serious
"I'm worried about my dad…" said Ran worried
"I can't tell them… I actually smell fire smoke from Conan's blazer" thought Shinichi as he sighs
"I'm sure he's fine Ran. Oh! I just remembered, they were about to get ready for Hamano-san magic. Ran, you should come and see it"
"But Conan-kun is…"
"Don't worry, I will stay with him. Go on without me" said Shinichi with a small smile
"Alright… I will bring you some snacks later"
"Okay"
Ran and Sonoko gets out from the room, leaving Shinichi stay beside the boy. He gently change his towel again and look at the boy serious. Conan was not wearing his jacket as he goes back here and knowing the temperature outside is very cold makes him even worried
"Conan, just what happen on the way back…" thought Shinichi as he gently brushed Conan's hair away from his sweaty forehead
Moments later, Shinichi he heard a soft moan coming from his little brother to which he sees Conan trying to wake up
"Conan?" asked Shinichi calling him out
"Ukh…"
Conan quickly regain consciousness and trying to adjust his eyes with the light of the room. He looks around and spot his big brother beside him
"Hey buddy, you really scared me there. I was surprised to see you lying out there" said Shinichi in soft voice
"Nii…chan? Ah!"
Conan quickly sit up but then his breathing becomes fast which worried the high schooler
"Oi!" shout Shinichi worried
"It's okay… I'm fine" said Conan as he controls his breathing
"Did something happen?"
"We have to go to everyone!"
"Wait Conan, explain first to me" shout Shinichi stopping Conan from going down the bed
"I will explain later with everyone else. This is important"
Shinichi just sigh and nod to him. He quickly took Conan's blazer and put it on him. He also started to piggyback him to downstairs which they heard the others talking about the leader who hasn't come
"I don't know about Dark Master but our leader, Tatsuo-san should be here soon" said Yoshinori while opening wine bottle
"He will not come" said Conan in a weak voice
Shinichi who's carrying him were surprised and so is the others who see them arriving to the dining room
"Conan-kun!" said Ran surprised
"He's been killed… He died in his own house" said Conan
"Killed?!" shout Yoshinori shock
Conan's words immediately grab everyone attention on the room especially Shinichi as he looked at Conan shock and surprised by the revelation
"What do you mean Conan-kun?" asked Ran worried as she goes to Shinichi's side
"His name is Nishiyama right?" asked Conan looking at Yoshinori
"Yeah…" said Yoshinori shock
"It was on the radio... I came back to warn you that you guys are in danger"
"Why are we in danger?" asked Naoko
"There was a message left in Nishiyama's computer… It said… This is the first victim from Dark Master"
"What!?" shout Yoshinori, Katsuki and Shinichi
The whole room started to get intense as Conan said it. Kikue remembers that Toshiya also involved with the fight online and they start to go to Toshiya's room which it was empty. The brothers notice that the window is wide open
"It can't be" thought both Shinichi and Conan
Both of them dash out to the window to which they look down and there was nobody fall to the snow so they were relief at first until Sonoko pointing a lying man far from the lodge who seems to be not moving
"No way…" thought Shinichi as he gritted his teeth
Time Skip~
Hamano Toshiya was found dead right in few meters away from the lodge. Katsuki quickly inspect him and he confirmed that he's dead. The others about to go around him but Shinichi quickly stop all of them from coming and let Katsuki alone near the body
"Shinichi?" asked Ran
"We don't want the crime scene to be altered any further" said Shinichi serious
"Eh?" asked all of them confused
"Don't you see… The body is 10 meters away from the lodge, yet the footprints here are all ours"
"But… this is…" said Yoshinori shock
"Right, this is a murder that someone without wings could not commit, an impossible crime" said Conan as he looked serious to the body
The others just look shock and disbelief by the situation in front of them
"Katsuki-san, how's the body?" asked Shinichi
"It seems as if he was strangled by some kind of rope. Then the culprit use other way to move him here but I'm sure that someone close by the lodge did this" said Katsuki looking at Shinichi serious
"I thought so…"
"Oi oi… You both think that the killer is among us?" asked Yoshinori
"We can't say that yet but knowing that only us here…" said Katsuki
"No... there is another and he's hiding" said someone behind them
The voice was from Kiyohiro to which grab everyone's attention
"What do you mean? Who are you talking about?" asked Naoko
"The Dark Master" said Kiyohiro serious
"Eh…" said all the adults
"It is a fellow member of the club that was supposed to stay here tonight"
"That is possible, not to mention the message that was left on Nishiyama-san's monitor" said Yoshinori
"Then that means he could be waiting to take another's life?!" asked Naoko
Kikue becomes angry and about to go in the lodge. The others asked and she said that she wants to get out from this place
"I am not going to wait around and become another murder victim!" shout Kikue angrily
"You can't go home…"
The others quickly look at the source of the voice, which to be the grade schooler who still stay on Shinichi's back
"What do you mean?" asked Shinichi serious
"When I came back, the bridge was already on fire as if someone had burned it down" said Conan serious
"So the smoke smell is from there…" thought Shinichi as he looked at his little brother to which Conan nod to him
"What… then without the bridge… We can't get off this mountain" said Yoshinori shock
"Could it be the culprit cut the phone lines too…" said Naoko disbelief
"It seems so… As if the culprit has separated us from the rest of the world" said Katsuki
Shinichi look at the body serious and he noticed the heavy breathing from his back. Conan seems to be having a hard time to holding out his own cold and the weather
"We should hurry and get back inside. We can't do anything reckless" said Shinichi
"Yes you're right… Everyone, let's head inside" said Yoshinori
Time Skip~
The room atmosphere was cold. After what happen to Toshiya, neither of them want to do anything. Sonoko look down remember what happen before they are separated to do their chosen chores. It turns out, Toshiya use magic to pick the person for each chore and Sonoko was the one who picked it for him as his assistant. Katsuki then calm her since it was totally coincidence and Sonoko also don't know since she was blindfolded. The brothers who hear the situation find it amusing but then Conan suddenly sneeze to which Shinichi reacted as he gave him his handkerchief
"But is it okay just sitting here waiting for someone to rescue us?" asked Naoko worried
"Don't worry, when the bridge burn down, Kogoro-ojiisan told me from the other side that he would call the police and wanted us to stay inside. He also said that he would come here first thing tomorrow morning" said Conan calming them down
"That's relieving" said Kikue glad by the news
All of them are now discussing the motive of Dark Master killing Toshiya and also their leader, Nishiyama. They then remembered the magician who died a month ago, his name was Harui Fuden. After the accident, Dark Master chat them saying that the great magician died because of all of you. It turns out, the group once talk about his tricks of his career and hoping to see the trick of that accident. The serious atmosphere began to rise as they talk more about it but suddenly Kikue said that she wants to take her coat from her room. Shinichi then stand up as he told her that he and Conan will join her since he wants to give Conan more clothes to warm him up. Katsuki also told them he would accompany them
Few moments later, they are now inside Katsuki and Shinichi's room
"Seriously, why do I have to wear this… It's too big" said Conan unhappy wearing the blue oversize sweater since it is Shinichi's sweater
"Don't complain, it's your fault for not putting on your jacket" said Shinichi unhappy as he was gently fitting the sweater to Conan's size
"Never mind that, Katsuki-san, can you explain more about this magic for roles?"
"Ahh, that time Hamano-san used magic to determine everyone's role for today while waiting for leader to come. The result was the temporary leader is Kuroda-san, the water heater is Tanaka-san and the one being punished to prepare a show was Hamano-san" said Katsuki as he looked around on guard
"I see… what about the others?"
"We're doing our separate things… so we don't know what the others do"
Both brothers get out from the room, and now they are on their way to Kikue's room so that she can take her coat. Suddenly the sound of a broken glass window can be heard and an arrow was shot into the wall inside the room. Kikue look out to the window and suddenly they heard scream from Sonoko to which the three boys run down in hurry
They found that an arrow was shot and hit the mirror near where Sonoko is. Conan help her to calm down while Shinichi and Katsuki look at the situation serious. Kikue got mad by the situation and rush out from the lodge to look for the culprit. Moments later, the found footprints around the trees, but then suddenly Sonoko and Kikue fall to the ground due to the snow. Yoshinori look around and found a lying crossbow near them to which they confirm that it's from the culprit
Shinichi can't help to find things very odd, and suddenly he heard Katsuki hit the snow in anger. Conan looks serious by the situation while Shinichi just look and then back looking at the crossbow. Suddenly he looked down and found some arrow on the ground
"Oi is that arrows from the crossbow?" asked Sonoko look to the arrows
"Then… those arrows are for the rest of us…" said Naoko in panic
"If we weren't lucky, we would have been shot" said Yoshinori
"Anyway, let's head back inside" said Katsuki serious
All of them about to go back while Shinichi look around and see Conan is looking through a certain tree serious. Shinichi bend down to his size
"What's wrong?" asked Shinichi serious
"Look at this…" said Conan pointing at the tree
There was a hole which looks like it was newly added to the tree. He began to run his deduction in his head about the new things he found, Conan on the other hand come closer
"Nee Niichan… I found Katsuki-san suspicious" said Conan serious
"Eh?" asked Shinichi surprised
"You don't? You look at his reaction just now right?"
"Well yeah but I can confirm that he's not the culprit"
"Why? Because he helped you with the case as well?"
"No… I already know who he is anyway, so I'm sure he's not involved. Anyway, let's head back inside"
Shinichi quickly take Conan to his back and they go inside. Conan just find it odd by Shinichi's reaction just now but he has to believe him for now since he's the one who seems to be grasp the case better than him. As they go in, Shinichi quickly goes to Katsuki and ask him the detail of what is everyone doing at the time of the case and magic that for choosing the roles in detail. Both Shinichi and Conan who heard it become serious, that's until Shinichi smirk as he put Conan to a chair
"Oi… don't tell me… You know?!" asked Conan in low voice
"Well I grasp it who's the possible culprit but for the trick, I'm still stuck" said Shinichi
"Then do you want to look around outside? Maybe we can confirm some things" said Katsuki helping him
"That would be helpful, let's go. Conan, stay here okay"
Conan look at the two run out from the room in confused. Ran quickly sit by Conan's side to keep him company
"Ran-neechan… Niichan and Katsuki-san sure is close" said Conan who look at the door
"Now that you mention it, Shinichi seems to talk more to Katsuki-san, maybe because they are roommates" said Ran
"But his words on dinner sure is irritating" said Sonoko beside her
"Dinner?" asked Conan confused
"Actually…"
Flashback
"Favorite magician? Well I do like Kuroba Toichi" said Yoshinori
"Oh me too!" said Katsuki happily
"But I like Kinoshita Yoshiro more" said Kikue
"Mine is Tsukumo Motoyasu. It's sad that he died just week ago" said Toshiya
"Why everyone like magicians that already died… I like Sanada Kazumi. He's very popular right now… How about you?" asked Naoko to Sonoko
"Of course… Kaito Kid!" shout Sonoko to which surprised the rest
"Eh?!" asked Ran surprised
"Oi oi oi…." thought Shinichi laugh
"But he is a thief…" said Yoshinori shock
"I don't care, I like him" said Sonoko serious
Shinichi just sigh by his friend confession for liking the phantom thief and then let out a smirk
"Still he should not be considered as a great magician" said Shinichi
"What did you say?!" asked Sonoko angrily
"Other magicians uses magic to entertain audience by performing spectacular tricks, effects or illusions but that white thief uses magic to steal as if he hides his crimes under his tricks and help him escape from the police grasp. That's not considered as entertainment"

All of them look to the source which to be Doito Katsuki who smiles while looking at the high school detective in front of him
"Kaito Kid did steal but I'm sure he has his reason to do such thing. I still see that he's still a great magician because even though he uses tricks to escape, he will do it in entertaining way to please audience and guests" said Katsuki smiling
"Ohoo… It seems like you are the phantom thief himself for saying such thing" said Shinichi smirk
"Well as a magician lover, that's my opinion on him"
Back to present
"He said that? Niichan did?" asked Conan surprised
"Yeah… What's wrong with it?" asked Ran
Conan only look down as he let out a small smirk, understanding the situation really well now. Few moments later, Shinichi comes in with Katsuki behind him. He sees Conan who's sitting on the chair with Ran and Sonoko beside them
"Conan, can you help me?" asked Shinichi
"Eh?"
Shinichi and Conan look at each other for a long time until Conan smirk by the situation
"Seriously, took you long enough. Alright then" said Conan smirks as he jumped down from the chair
Suddenly Conan feel his head start to annoy him and Shinichi quickly catch him since it seems the boy is about to fall. He looked to his little brother in worried but Conan then take Shinichi's hands off of him and smile
"I'm okay… Let's just hurry and solve this" said Conan smiling as he took of the end of his glasses handle and took it off
"Alright, I will do it quickly" said Shinichi smiles as he took it
Conan quickly goes to Yoshinori asking for some things and they run out from the room while Shinichi then stand up while looking at the rest. Ran quickly approach him
"Nee Shinichi, have you solved the case?" asked Ran in low voice
"Yeah… You could say that" said Shinichi serious
Time Skip~
Yoshinori told all of them that Conan gone missing after asking for some stationery stuffs and as on cue, they heard a scream from the second floor and all of them goes straight to the source of the voice. Shinichi on the other hand, run out from the lodge
After Conan and the others arrive, Shinichi smirk which confuse all of them. He quickly pat Conan's shoulders and he began to explain that actually he asked Conan to do that stuff for him since he figured out whose the culprit of the murder of Hamano Toshiya which he quickly pointed out the culprit is none other than Tanaka Kikue. Shinichi explain that the crossbow incident was simple, Kikue pulled a string with an object at the end to break the window, and fired a concealed crossbow to create the idea the attack was coming from the outside. She did the same for the bottom window but had the arrow stuck to the mirror prepared beforehand.
Shinichi then pat Conan and Conan quickly let out his little speaker from his button which Shinichi run inside the lodge but keep explaining the trick for Toshiya's murder through the end of Conan's glasses handle that he give him earlier. Shinichi quickly goes to where Toshiya's room is and about to begin the simulation but suddenly Katsuki was already beside him and help him to shoot the arrow. The trick was also simple, by using resilient strings, she fired them from the balcony to the forest until there was enough to support Toshiya's weight. She then tied a string around Toshiya's body and used the positioned string to slide the body downwards. She then tied all the strings into another arrow and fired it off. As evidence, Shinichi reveals that the arrows were specialized to have string connected to them and that they should be found on Tanaka's body somewhere.
Kikue quickly gives in and confess that she was Harui Fuden's granddaughter. She accepted that the accident was her grandfather's fault but she can't forgive the comments from both Nishiyama and Toshiya about it.
"But… if both of them knows that he was Harui Fuden then they wouldn't have said those things" said Naoko sadly
"True but he found out, Doito-kun. On the day before the performance, he mailed my grandfather to cheer him on" said Kikue serious
"But how did he?" asked Yoshinori confused
"That's because… He's also familiar with magic himself"
All of them look surprised by the voice which to be Conan's words with a smirk
"Familiar with… magic?" asked Yoshinori
"Well the explanations can come afterward but only him who knows about your grandfather, I don't think the two knows" said Conan serious
"I see… You're right…" said Kikue as she looked up to the starry sky
Conan look toward his speaker which he can't hear anything
"I haven't heard Niichan's voice ever since he's done with his deduction show!" thought Conan as he run
Conan quickly run inside the lodge ignoring Ran and Sonoko's voice calling him. He run toward the Toshiya's room where Shinichi should done the simulation
"Niichan!" shout Conan as he goes in the room
He looked surprised but then change immediately to anger. In front of him right now is Kaito Kid with his usual white costume
"Hello there, Tantei-kun. It's been a while since Ryouma exhibition" said Kid smirking
"Where's Shinichi-niichan?" asked Conan angrily
"Ah he's sleeping beside this room. Don't worry, he should be got up around 30 minutes"
"Why did you come here…"
"I knew about the Fake Child identity all along since it was Harui Fuden's debut stage name… I never expected to be a murder case happening here… When I look at the clues of the magic trick, I figure it out immediately on who she is but I was already too late"
"I see… Emotions often prevent us from finding the truth. Still, no one wants this kind of tragedy happens… Well that's one of Shinichi-niichan's words"
"I'm not a detective after all and I thought I could let him handle it but he seems preoccupied by your sudden entrance and your body so I had no choice to step in as his assistant and help him find out the magic trick"
"Then, before you run away…"
Conan let out a crossbow from his back to which surprised Kaito Kid
"Oi oi Tantei-kun! What is-"
"I forgot to tell you huh when I started to become your rival… There are three rules that no one can break whether it's intentional or unintentional" said Conan serious
Kid eyes shot up in shock on how serious Conan is right now so he goes silence and watch him
"First, never look into my personal confidential record" said Conan serious
"Noted that" said Kid as he raises his hands
"Second, don't even try to hurt my friends or Shinichi-niichan's friends especially Ran-neechan"
"I also have that rule of no one gets hurt in my actions"
"Third… Never lay a finger on Shinichi-niichan"
Conan's eyes change to anger immediately as he said his third rule to which Kid immediately got shock. He just broke the third rule which is making Shinichi asleep even though he did that so that he can have a proper duel with Conan but it backfired
"Making him defenseless like that… You just hit the wrong button" said Conan serious
Suddenly Kid's hat was thrown back and Kid look back to see that an arrow hit perfectly in the middle of his white hat
"I forgot to tell you, Shinichi-niichan's father taught both of us how to aim perfectly using a gun. Sorry to say but our skill in aiming are basically on top of any children on our age. In other words, we are basically a monster. I could kill you on the spot if you want me to" said Conan in sinister voice
"Oh my Tantei-kun. I thought you are a detective. Detective's job is not to kill anyone right?" said Kid who trying his best to keep his poker face
"You are sure about that?"
Conan took out his crossbow again and this time aiming to Kid's head. Kid quickly on guard since Conan right now is letting out a murderous aura
"You just broke the rule, Kaito Kid… That's how you open the monster"
"Tantei-kun…"
Just then, Conan smirk and then Kid heard a click from the crossbow. He quickly dodged but then suddenly he realizes that there was no arrow heading toward him. Moments later after he stood up, Conan then throw the crossbow away from his hand
"Well, take that as warning. I did owe you for the medicines that you give me earlier" said Conan as he put his hands up
"You really got me Tantei-kun… But thank you for the warning, I will note that in my mind but seriously, you scare for a moment there"
"Learn your lesson for my three rules there"
"I will take that as personal note… Well then, see you soon Tantei-kun… Before the bell of the century rings"
Kid quickly open his hang glider and fly away from the lodge. As Conan confirmed that, he fell down to the ground and take a fast breathing as if holding together his body.
"Seriously… that overconfidence face of his…" thought Conan smirking while letting out heavy breathing on the ground
Kaito Kid on the other hand who's flying just got thinking on how Conan change immediately unlike the rival he knows
"Did his fever make him like that… But I don't want to confirm any of it" thought Kid as he fly toward the city
Few moments later, Shinichi wakes up and hurriedly goes to the room where he was supposed to shoot the arrow. He run toward the room and shock to see Conan sitting by the bed with a fast breathing
"Conan! Are you okay?!" asked Shinichi worried as he open his jacket and put it around him
"Just… cold" said Conan as he shivers
Shinichi quickly hold him up and put him close by his arms so that he can get warm
"Sorry, I got knocked out by that thief" said Shinichi as he gets out from the room
"Yeah it's fine. But… How did you know that he's Kid the whole time?"
"When he meet me the first time, he told me as your relative but the media never covers that fact which means the people who knows should be us, Nakamori-keibu and Kid himself"
"I see… Already give him a warning… Just let me sleep for a moment" said Conan as he held Shinichi's shirt closer and close his eyes
"Alright… You have done enough. Now, just rest"
Conan nods as he drifts to the dream world and rest on Shinichi's chest. Shinichi went downstairs and see that Ran and Sonoko are sitting on the chair by the dining table while the rest of adults are near the front door waiting for the police
"Shinichi! Conan-kun!" said Ran worried
"Ran, can you hold Conan for a moment. I want to take some hot packs" said Shinichi
"Okay"
Ran hold Conan and notice that the boy seems to be asleep while shivering
"Shinichi… Conan-kun is okay right?" asked Ran worried
"He's just too tired of what happen. The cold snow get him very bad but he forced himself to help me solve this case" said Shinichi as he held a hot pack
Shinichi gently put the hot pack on his hands which make him slightly warm by it. He took him back in his arms and hold him close. He looked to his face properly who seems to be sleeping comfortable now. Ran and Sonoko who sees the scene just smile warmly by the sight of Shinichi's brotherly love for Conan
"Conan…" thought Shinichi worried
After few hours of waiting, finally they heard a helicopter coming toward the lodge. Kogoro arrives with the police to which Kikue quickly turn herself in. Kogoro goes to his daughter immediately but then notice that Shinichi is holding Conan on his arms
"How is he?" asked Kogoro serious
"He's very tired… He has been asleep for a while ever since we solve the case" said Shinichi worried
"Take him to the hospital, it maybe also cause by the fire on the bridge before"
Kogoro quickly put Ran, Sonoko, Shinichi and Conan on a different helicopter while the others are waiting for the other helicopter to arrive. After that, they arrived to the hospital and Conan was taken inside for examination. Kogoro then told all of them after they heard the radio news about the Nishiyama's death, they turned around to warn them but the bridge was on fire as they come back. Conan didn't think further and as he shoves his jacket away, he run toward the flaming bridge
"He ran through the bridge?!" asked Sonoko shock
"Ahh… Seriously, he was really reckless. After he ran, the bridge end fall but luckily he managed to jump out to safety" said Kogoro as he folded his hands
Shinichi who has been standing the whole time waiting for the doctor done examining Conan just sigh by his brother's recklessness
"Seriously… that boy really is reckless" thought Shinichi worried
"That boy really did himself… Even though he was sick, he forces himself to go back to warn you guys" said Kogoro
"Because Shinichi is with us, he's worried about him as well…" said Ran looking at Shinichi
"You better treat him properly, Shinichi-kun" said Sonoko
"You don't have to tell me that… Taking care of him is my job after all" said Shinichi serious
Back to present
"So… you stayed in the hospital?" asked Haibara
"No, after check up, the doctor just tell Niichan that I'm too tired so when I woke up, he took me home and I stay on the bed for another week" said Conan as he remembered
"Still, due to being sick you becoming a monster… What an irony"
"I was sick… And I'm just warning him but I might have taken it too far"
"It's still the same… Now I understand why Shinichi-san hate it if you got a cold. You should really take care of yourself so I don't have to look over you"
Conan then move his body near Haibara and then smirk to her
"Are you worried?" asked Conan while smirking
"What?! Why would I be worried about the stupid detective" said Haibara as she looked away covering her blushing face
"That hurts you know"
"AAAHHH!" shout someone which grab everyone's attention
All of them look at the source of the voice which to be Genta while pointing at Conan and Haibara
"You two are so close!" shout Genta
"What are you two doing!" shout Mitsuhiko and Ayumi as they got angry
Conan and Haibara quickly move away from each other and try to calm their friends down. Shinichi, Ran and Sonoko just laugh at the interaction between the group of friends

I'm back after two months!
I'm very sorry but it seems we will be slow-updating this story due to real life work but we will try to keep writing and make it longer for each chapters so that readers who wait for the update can be more satisfied. Also this particular episode is suggested by one of the reviewer, Doyle Mystery Writer!
