" There is an enduring tenderness in the love of a mother to a son that transcends all other affections of the heart. "

(More than a DecadeAgo: Skies over Forests near Rouen, France)

The cloudy evening sky passed the Quinjet as an elderly blonde woman and her companions were seating on the passenger seat. A man wearing a gas mask was with her. He noticed her drinking a green bottle of red wine. Elder Carol Danvers was not sober as she felt reckless and reluctant in dealing her mission along with men from the rebel forces. All she wanted to do was to settle her life resting. She kept gulping and staring at the people around her.

The people seemed unamused of her disposition and murmured. The senile blonde woman gave them a death stare which she sensed their minds to gossip her. They were uneasy at her grim facial expression and remained silent. Carol heavily sighed and closed her eyes.

"The mission against the evil Kree and the Lizards are getting even worse. I'm not even the right person for this job in finding 682 or someone else! Why not the Kree Eternal should deal with this mess, not me! "she angrily thought." Why me? I'm just an old prick after all. I can't deal with dangerous missions, anymore! Kids should be working with this kind of crap! "

She continued drinking her bottle of wine as the man with a gas mask and dressed in dark clothes approached her. Carol glared at him which she wasn't interested to talk to anyone.

" The target should be near. Yet, you don't seem to be in shape to focus on the mission, Ms. Danvers. Is there something wrong? " he curiously asked.

" Right..." she furiously grumbled and sighed. " I'm gonna find that 682 and bring him to the those who want to hunt him. Then, I'll have my instant retirement. After that, you guys can deal with that Kasius guy on your own! "

" And what if the specimen resists? You don't seem fit to fight it. The last time we tried to hunt, it was me and my partner who made it, " he looked at her while getting near to her face.

" Well, I'm too old for this job. The Kree Eternal Methu-Selah should be joining with our hunt, but where the hell is he? " the elderly half-Kree woman shrugged and whined. " He just wanted to confront that meddling lizard wherever he is. "

The Quinjet landed on the ground as the crew prepared themselves to search the forests. Carol and her companion left the vehicle as they followed them. She kept drinking her bottle and went walking with her partner. He noticed her steps were either going backward or forward. Some team members headed on a different direction to proceed which they found another object of interest.

The elderly half-Kree lady and the man with a gas mask headed to the other side of the forests. The dark trees greeted them along the way which they were like waving by the wind. The two were never afraid of seeing unusual things along the way.

" So, Carol. What lead to your drinking habit? I've read your records that you used to be quite the hero back 50 years ago. Did you just give up? " he looked at her and started the conversation while walking.

" Well, it's a long story, kid, " she answered. " During that Kree-Lizard fiasco, everyone turned out to be slaves for them. Then, some of them got killed when they resisted. They took me as their thrall, but I fought back. Besides, those heroes are all gone. Until, I escaped and met Methie. He actually found me, but he couldn't stand to see me drinking. "

" I never did consider myself a hero, either, but that's quite the history you have. Yet, you're leaving a legacy of it being stained by drinking, " the man sternly replied. " For me, the mission came first, always. "

" Well, Methie just told me the same thing. "

" Guess, you didn't listen to his advice, did you? "

" Yeah, I was a pain in his Kree Cosmic Awareness, " she replied. " But there's something me and him have talked about before we parted ways."

" And what was that Miss Danvers? " the mercenary again asked. Carol recalled those years when she met her friend. He was waiting for her to answer for a couple of minutes.

" He was still searching for his lost son. That was so impossible to do that, " she replied. " I can't guarantee him if I successfully find that boy. Methie must have been longing for him before he would pass on. "

" So, this boy? Is he dangerous to others or should we sedate him once we find him? " the man with a gas mask queried.

" I don't know. I hope 682 won't eat or takehim as one of those slaves. "

" If we try to kill 682, then we encounter it. Nothing is invinsible, I learned that the hard way, " he said to her.

" Well, let's see how it goes," she blandly nodded.

Suddenly, they heard a sudden threshold from the forest. Carol and her companion exchanged glances which they saw a tall cloaked being. It was eating the fruits which it took them from the trees. The man held his weapon which he readied himself to shoot.

" Hey, did you see something? "

" It seems we might have contact. Best to stun it, so we won't have to fight to restrain it, " he answered while holding his gun up.

" I think I have to deal with this one. You can come along. "

The elderly half-Kree woman approached the figure when it slowly turned its head. Carol saw the obscure being as she was ready to confront it. Her companion came along with her to observe.

" Old woman, what are you looking for? " the male voice asked.

" Well, it seems if you can help us find 682 and the Kree Eternal's missing son. We have some business to do." Carol replied. " We've been searching for him for a long time. Do you have any idea where he is? "

The being heavily sighed as he heard the old woman's question. He ignored her and took all the fruits to eat and decided to leave the two on the forest. The elderly woman raised her eyebrows and put her hands on her elbows. She waited for him to answer. He glared at her which he felt compelled to confront the female elder.

" I'm sorry I have no idea what are you talking about. Why don't you ask the tyrant Kree, maybe he knows. " the being replied.

" You, perhaps, do know what are you hiding from us, " her younger male companion sternly demanded.

" I told you, I don't know, "

" Hey, should we make him talk? " Carol turned to her companion.

" We won't get anymore if we don't have information. So do it, Carol. "

" Right. " she nodded and grinned. Carol illuminated her fists as the being widened his eyes in shock. " Okay, Kid. Now, tell us where is the Kree Eternal's son and 682? "

" I SAID ' I DON'T KNOW!' " he angrily growled.

The being decided to fight the old woman and dashed to tackle her down. He tried to use his tail to trip her. She fell down and got pinned. The being was using his sharp claws to wound her. Suddenly, Carol punched the being's face as the hood revealed a lizard boy with two green humanoid eyes different from 682. He fell down and growled at the elderly half Kree woman.

" WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?! " he yelled.

" So, 682, we have met. " she grinned and crossed her arms.

" What do you want? I'm just picking fruits, because I'm hungry! Please leave me alone! You're provoking me to hurt you! "

" We are here to take you to someone then restrain you for capture. So don't resist nor make it hard for us, " the man answered and pointed his gun to the lizard.

" Look, I don't know why are you here, " the lizard said. " I'm just getting something to eat. Then, you two want to have a fight. "

" Getting eating something to eat, Kid? Perhaps, you ate people! You're nothing but a ruthless murderer! " Carol punched the lizard boy's gut as he growled.

" I DIDN'T EAT ANYBODY!! STOP IT! " he cried and tremendously feltpain.

" Don't lie to us, Kid! "

" You killed the men of my squad before when we tried looking for you. So now, we are taking precaution." her gas masked companion added and readied himself to shoot him. He kept shooting when the creature evaded. He was struggling to fight back. Carol illuminated her fists and gave him a blazing blow on his gut. The lizard fell on the ground and slowly stood up. He was shaking in fear.

" No...no... Please...Just leave me...alone! "

" Wait, Carol... 682 is a creature that runs on instinct, right? " the man asked.

" Yeah, but this one is something different, " Carol answered.

She kicked the lizard boy's legs and crushed his tail. He yelled in pain and thought of slicing her, but he got overpowered by an old woman. Her photon blasts tremendously hit him down. The lizard again found himself lying on the ground as he managed to stand up.

" You're hurting me...STOP THIS! " he cried. " I don't want to fight you! Just leave me... Alone! "

" Tell us what are you now in the count of three. Carol will continue if you don't, " the agent said raising 3 fingers.

" I'm just a wanderer. I don't even know what you're saying! Why are you doing this to me, you disgusting, humans! "

" You're a "wanderer" then, " she harshly spoke and illuminated her fists to form her photon blast. " Are you really 682 or someone else? "

The lizard boy remained silent as he couldn't answer the elderly woman's question. Her companion was eager to hear more from him. He may have an appearance of the ruthless murderer or his memories, but in this scenario he was just a confused and naive being. He heavily sighed and thought of his answer.

" They say... I killed people, but I'm not what you're thinking of..." he replied. " Like I said, I don't even know what you're saying. I'm really telling the truth... I just don't know. "

" Can you read minds, Carol and also three, " he counted down. The half-Kree woman was still aiming to blast the creature. Theagent stopped and was having second thoughts to proceed this action. He looked at his elderly companion as she ceased glowing." Wait, Carol. What if he is speaking the truth? " he asked while looking at the lizard.

" I'm trying to read his mind, " she said, walked closer and held the lizard's hands. The creature got surprised to see in that action which he seemed baffled." Kid, I'm sorry. Just calm down."

" Calm down? " he repeated her words. " But you..."

Carol penetrated the lizard's mind and sensed such confusion and sadness. She looked at his eyes. They were different which she reminded of someone else's eyes. Her companion curiously went thinking and observed the two. He approached them and held his gun.

" He is something else, " she seriously spoke.

" You sure or that the booze talking? " he doubtfully spoke while looking at her.

" Hey, I may be drunk, but this kid has something. Now, try to shoot him. That's an order! "

" Shoot me?! " The lizard boy wanted to break free of the woman's hand as he furiously growled. He was about to use his claws. " If you two won't leave me alone... I will hurt you! "

The man raised his MP5 while aiming for the lizard's foot. He took a precise aim and then he fired. The being again yelled in pain as a flow of blue blood splattered on his foot. Carol and the agent got surprised to see the different blood color from him. The being was too afraid in seeing his blood running out of his body.

" Carol, that blood of his is not red! " the agent exclaimed in shock. " Why is it freaking blue?! Unless..."

" I told you this kid is something. The real 682 has red blood, " she answered.

" You hurt me... I'm indestructible..." the lizard defiantly spoke and readied his claws to retaliate. " You're going to pay for..."

Carol gently held his claws as the lizard got surprised. He never realized a tough elderly woman like her could confront him. She was still staring at him and touching his forehead.

" Wait...why are you doing this? " he asked. " You're supposed to be afraid of me..."

" Hold it, right there, kid. We want answers. "
