" Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. "

- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)

(Rouen, France, 4:20 AM)

Carol was still sitting beside the boy on the bed as she was interested to hear more stories from him. He recalled those days when he left San Francisco after Mar-Vell's demise which he had decided to continue the journey by himself.
" So, it is painful to let go a dear friend after more than a month, " she commented.
" Yes, I never knew what should I do in those times, " he replied. " It was so difficult to live alone with anything I barely knew. "
" So, why is that? "
" I got used to join Mar-Vell's begging exploits, but I got saddened to stay in San Francisco. "
" I see. So, you had no choice, but you went on your own going elsewhere. "
" Yes, but some humans came to follow me ever since I escaped the MTF Facility. "
" So, they have been chasing you? "
" Yes, when Mar-Vell and I were in Los Angeles, I saw some armed men who were searching for me. Gladly, my late friend helped me to hide and escape. "
Carol nodded and understood of the boy's way to defend himself from his captors. She could imagine how difficult he lived before she met him.
" Then, what happened next? " the elderly half-Kree woman asked.
" Something happened: The Kree and the Lizards arrived here. "
" Can you tell me more? "
" Sure..."

(FIFTY YEARS AGO: TWO WEEKS LATER AFTER MAR-VELL'S DEATH, SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, 11:15 PM)

The Kree-Lizard boy ended-up in another city near the Pacific coast. He got used to blend-in with the crowd as a street beggar which he continued begging for food and money on his own. Sometimes, he received from people, but mostly he never received anything. He went on the streets and followed the walking crowd on the streets in order for him to familiarize the city spots. There were times he got himself into the alley finding more food from the dumps and ate them.
Living as a street beggar was the only way to survive and somehow could forget those brutal memories from 682, however he couldn't take-off in his mind about seeing his dear friend who died on his arms. Truly, he missed his best friend and mentor so much. He was very grateful to be with him. There were evenings when he earned his money and spent drinking beer which he wanted to forget his sadness. Indeed, he was experiencing harsh reality of outside world which Skoúro had mentioned. There were other days that some people drove him away from the dumpsters. Sometimes, he was being followed by the same people from Los Angeles.
This time, he was hiding on the bushes at the park where he sought a temporary shelter and refuge. He brought his bottle of beer and kept drinking. His solitude and sadness were still lingering his mind despite of grieving for his friend's loss. He looked at the same bright star which he usually stared every evening.
" Is this gonna be more difficult several days from now? " he sadly thought. " I couldn't see so much luck here. Now, Mar-Vell's gone. Those humans are after me. What am I gonna supposed to do? Where should I go? Like I don't have so much idea of everything, I can't live all alone. "
He was about to shut his eyes to sleep when he finished drinking. Then, he heard some people walking around the park. They were security personnel holding a flashlight. The other man was chubby and his partner was thin man wearing a patrol uniform. They were walking around the place on their night-shift duty.
" Have you heard of SCP-682? " his partner curiously asked.
" Yeah, what about it, " the fat one replied.
" Just heard some rumors that he's dead, but the people saw him in California along with the old Captain Marvel. "
" Wait, what?! He's a killing machine how come he makes friends with an old superhero? "
" I don't know, but the duo ended up as homeless dudes. Maybe, that guy who looks like 682 is a clone or something. "
" Yeah, I saw that guy too on the streets, " the security guard replied. " He's also looking for food in the dumps, begging for money, and drinking left-over beer from the bars he had been. "
" That's odd to hear that. Do you think those people will hunt him? "
" I dunno... Maybe? " the chubby guard shrugged.
The Kree-Lizard boy got started as he heard he was being talked about. He anxiously moved his head to and fro which he wanted to leave before the park night guards would find him. Suddenly, he heard a large explosion from a distance which he and the guards turned their attention.
" What is that? " he thought.
" Damn, what the hell?! " the thin man raised his voice. " Did you see something? "
" Yeah..." his fat partner nodded and turned around. He never knew he got shot on the chest as the thin man exclaimed in horror.
Suddenly, he was being surrounded by the blue and pink skinned humanoid aliens along with some tall reptilians. The park security was horrified in seeing them and pointing his pistol at them. The Lizard man took the weapon and crushed it. The thin man thought of running away as the blue man pointed his weapon on the human.
" You choose: submit or die? " he sternly asked.
" Look, I don't know what you're talking about! "
" Fine, then you will die like your friend! "
The Kree-Lizard boy heard the conversation as he was still hiding behind the bushes. He saw the man being beaten up which he couldn't stand seeing it. The hybrid was contemplating to save him, but this time he had to do it. Then, he instantly jumped out of the bushes and took the security guard from those intruders.
" GET THEM! " the Kree soldier yelled as the troops followed the two.
The Kree and the Lizard soldiers kept shooting and chasing them. They instantly escaped by running as they headed on the streets. The hybrid boy and the security guard both panted and hid on a nearby alley. The man got shocked to see his rescuer.
" Damn, it can be..." he paused.
" I heard what you were talking earlier, " the boy said. " I don't have an intention to hurt you. I saw those men were beating you down. "
" Okay...okay... I'm sorry for that. All I want to say is thank you for saving me. I really appreciate it. By the way, who are those guys? "
" The Kree and Lizard soldiers. "
" What the hell do they want? "
" I don't know. For now, I'll keep you safe in hiding. "
" Gee, thanks man..."
The two saw what was transpiring within the city. The residents were being killed while fighting as the others were being abducted by the invaders. The famous tourists attractions and skyscrapers were heavily damaged by those explosions. The guard was horrified to see war against humans and the invaders. The hybrid boy kept him in the large dumpster where they spent hiding for their safety.
Several hours later, the lid got opened as the security guard and the Kree-Lizard boy decided to get out of the garbage. They got back to the alley and saw the disastrous mess made by those invaders. He and his rescuer were surprised to see some flames, smoke, and the deceased in the city.
" Why on Earth?! " the thin middle-aged man wailed and wept in tears. " Why are they doing this?! "
The Kree-Lizard boy let the guard ranting and crying as he gently patted the man's back. The man leaned on the boy as he couldn't stand the horror of what he was seeing.
" I'm sorry..." he calmly said.
After he and the guard had parted ways, the hybrid had set off to find another place where he could stay. He kept walking on the streets and seeing all the casualties. The boy sadly sighed as he saw lives were taken away from those invaders.
" So, this is the worst thing that I ever saw, " he thought. " I hope someone could do something to fight back. "
The boy found a recently abandoned hospital where it still stood on the street. He entered and saw the shattered glass and dismantled medical equipment on the floor and in the rooms. Looking around, he saw the deceased doctors, nurses, patients, and other people around the area. He watered his eyes as he couldn't take so much death and violence transpired in the place of life and health.
He walked away and rubbed his eyes as he headed to the hallway. The boy was hearing a loud banging from the room. He followed the noise and slowly turned his head around. It came from a cancer patient ward where he was heading.
Entering the room, he saw a woman in her mid-twenties dressed in a white hospital gown and a purple wig. She had a wrist bracelet on her right hand. She was hitting some empty metallic bedpans on the wall.
" Hello? " the Kree-Lizard boy called her attention as she ignored him. " Hello?! Miss?! Miss! "
" WHO THE HECK ARE YOU?! " the lady angrily yelled and threw the bedpan as the boy evaded. " ARE YOU COMING TO KILL ME?! GO AHEAD! TAKE MY DAMN LIFE! I HAVE FEW YEARS OR LESS TO LIVE! I'M SICK AND TIRED OF GETTING MY CHEMO! "
The Kree-Lizard hybrid just sighed and never wanted to retaliate the woman. Still, he was curious of her negativity as he scratched his head.
" Do you hear me?! I said..."
" Look, I don't want to kill you. I just want to take you out of here, " he calmly answered. " I don't have any intention to harm you. "
" Really? " she scoffed. " What made you say that, mister? I saw what was going on. Those lizards and the evil blue men took people and then they killed them. So, what's the point of saving, anyway?! I'm not a damsel in distress! I'll be happier if you do mercy-killing to me! "
" I don't know what you're talking about..." he heavily sighed and carried the female cancer patient.
" HEY, DUDE! LET ME GO! LET ME GO! "
" You're coming with me, whether you like it or not..."
" Damn, you!! You're kidnapping me! " she angrily gritted her teeth and clenched her fists to punch her tall hooded rescuer.
The Kree-Lizard boy ignored her as she went yelling. Her voice echoed on the hallway. They left the hospital and headed on the streets. The woman was struggling to break free on the boy's strong, rough, and scaly arms. She was thinking of pushing him down, but she intently looked at her rescuer's face. He had a striking handsome humanoid facial features and two green irises on his eyes despite of his dark green and scaly complexion. She noticed a blue scar on his left side of his face.
" Okay... fine! I give up! " she sighed and frowned. " Thanks for saving me, mister...I just don't expect you to show up and rescue me. "
" I just really need you to survive..."
" Survive? Really? How come? I'm gonna die anytime soon. "
" I lost a friend two weeks ago. I know how hard it is to experience all alone. "
" Okay? So, you need a new companion to be with? I'm not sure if I'm the right gal. Anyway, I'm Nancy Johnson. What's your name? "
" I'm sorry, I don't have a name..."
" You don't have a...damn name! " Nancy loudly laughed as her rescuer bowed in shame. She turned to him and felt guilty. " Look, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to insult you. But let's see how can I help you. Okay? "
" Sure..."
" So, for now. I'm gonna be your new travelling companion, " Nancy replied. " But please bear with me, 'cause I get easily irritated. Trust me, I'm gonna be more patient with you. "
" Thanks. "
" So, where are we headed? "
" Let's find somewhere else safe. "
" Good, thanks! "
" You're welcome. "
