Chapter 5: A Complication To The Mission

I am trying to make the chapters longer and once the tasks start I will have more action to write about.
What did you think of the plot twist, I wanted to make the story more original because this plot is used so much and it is always Percy who is chosen. I thought it was an idea I would try and see if people like it.
Also, Leo's fatal flaw is low self-esteem he always thinks he not important, so this is a way to add him in the action more.
Now you are most likely bored of the A.N, so I will stop them so you can read the story.
Piper's POV:
"The Delphi academy champion is... Leo Valdez!" Dumbledore said. We all started clapping and Leo just sat there frozen with shock. Percy shook his shoulders and said something I couldn't hear.
Leo stood up still shocked and walked over to the door the rest of the champions had gone through. I smiled at everyone and they all grinned back at me.
When the clapping died down Dumbledore stood up and started to speak again,"Now that all our champions have been chosen w-" He stopped as once again the flames in the goblet turned red again. Is that supposed to happen? I thought but by the expression on Dumbledore's face it was not. Then another piece of paper shot out and the flames died.
Dumbledore looked at the paper and murmured someone's name than said,"Harry Potter". I looked at the boy that was sitting down a little ways down the long bench we were sitting on. He looked really pale and a look of complete horror on his face. Then, he stood and walked down the long hall, a few people shouted about how he was not seventeen and that he had cheated. He walked all the way to the teachers table and walked through the door.
"All of you are dismissed!" said Dumbledore as he and other teachers hurried through the door. We all stood up and walked back to the Argo ll in silence. When, we walked onto the ship we sat silently on deck all waiting for Leo to return and tell us what happened after Harry walked through that door.
After what seemed like hours even though it had only been 10 minutes, Leo showed up. He saw us and then put on his signature grin and walked onto the deck. "Why hello there, how are you guys on this very fine night?" He said with a bow. I couldn't help cracking a smile at his attempt to cheer us up.
"I suppose you want to know what happened after Harry came in" he said cheerily,"Well I will tell you. He came in with a shocked and horror stricken, so I asked him what he was doing there when a bunch of teachers came in arguing about something, I promptly became very distracted until Dumbledore said my name and asked me if I had been listening. I said no and he explained how Harry's name came out of the thingy and how they had came to the decision that he must compete in the contest. Then, Dumbledore explained that the first task would be taking place sometime in november and that it was a secret. Then we all left, and now I am here telling you all." He finished and then leaned back and stretched.
"Okay. Now that we have that out of the way, Congrats man!" said Percy and gave Leo a high five. Annabeth hit him over the head,"No Seaweed Brain, it is not 'out of the way' our mission is to help protect Harry and make sure he doesn't get hurt."
"Okay, okay but a least congratulate Leo before you start your scheming, planning, or whatever you call it." Percy said."Yeah he is right, Congratulations Leo, Good Job!" I said patting Leo on the back, the others did the same. "Thanks guys!" Leo said with a wide smile on his face.
I could tell he liked the attention and importance. After we had finished, Annabeth went downstairs with Hazel, Frank,Thalia,and Lou to probably form some kind of plan, Jason and Percy went to train on the on ship arena. Nico went down to his cabin, I totally forgot he was here. Chiron went to talk with so of his friends in the forest.
I walked over to Leo who was chatting with Festus and asked,"What do you think the first task will be." He shrugged and said,"I don't know, but I bet it won't be easy though." I nodded and said,"I was thinking along the same line as you, are you gonna try and find out what it is?" He shook his head and replied,"No because that will be cheating, if I find out on accident ohh well, but I am not gonna try to find out on purpose, that would not be fair."
I looked at him and said,"Leo, when did you become a philosopher?" He laughed and then said that something was wrong in the engine room and walked downstairs.
I sat there for a while thinking about that days events and then Jason came up from downstairs and said,"There you are, I have been looking for you!" I looked at him and smiled."What are you thinking about?" He asked and I replied,"Just about today, I don't think Harry put his name in from the expression but someone else did in the hopes of getting him hurt or killed." Jason nodded as if he was thinking the same things.
"Well, it happened and now we have to deal with it." He said and I kissed him."True words, true words." I said he smiled and kissed me again.
-Line break dedicated to Bianca- A.N Yes I did go there and now I am crying for Bianca.
It was about a week later after Halloween and we were going into a small town nearby called Hogsmeade. I was excited because me and Jason were finally getting to go on a proper date together. Annabeth was also excited for her alone time with Percy where they weren't going to be interrupted, most likely.
It was nothing formal so I had just thrown on my normal orange CHB t-shirts and some jeans, my hair was braided over my shoulder. I had on a pair of white sneakers,or previously white they were now covered in dirt and smudges. It got cold here even in early september so I had thrown on a jacket. I went up to meet Jason who was playing rock, paper, scissors with Leo. Then he saw me and smiled and I planted a kiss on his cheek.
Everyone else came up as well and we left the ship, me and Jason holding hands. We walked into a small pub called The Three Broomsticks. We sat down and ordered some butterbeer. Annabeth and Percy went to find a place to probably make out, Leo had gone to the joke shop, Nico went to check out some place called the Shrieking Shack, Thalia went to go find a place to do archery in a 'natural setting', Hazel and Frank went to go and find their own table in the pub, and Lou Had went to talk with some friends she had made from Ravenclaw.
Then it was just us we talked fore a little bit and then I noticed Hermione came in and sat in the booth beside us kept quietly talking to herself. That's weird? I also noticed that she had ordered to butterbears instead of one. I pointed it out to Jason, he just shrugged and we kept talking.
A few minutes later, Hagrid the groundskeeper came in and went to talk to Herimonie. Except he looked at the chair next to her and it hit me, Harry must be their and he had something to make him invisible like Annabeth's hat.
After, Hagrid left I got up and went over to where Hermione was sitting, Jason followed."Hi, Hermione, Hi Harry." I said, by the look on Hermione's face I had guessed right.
"How- How did you know?" she said, I laughed and said,"It was quite easy,first you came in talking to yourself, then you ordered two butterbeer and one disappeared, and finally Professor Hagrid talked to the empty seat beside you instead of at you." Jason kissed me on the cheek and said,"That's my Piper, very observant." I smiled at him.
After about 5 minutes of us chatting with them, we left to go find our friends. Me and Jason walked around gathering up everyone from their various activities, we had to practically drag Leo out of the joke shop and luckily he hadn't made it do the candy store yet.
We were looking for her and when Thalia came hurrying toward us and told us to follow her. We walked with us and then we met up with everybody else. I was about to ask Thalia what we were doing out in this secluded area of the town when Annabeth beat me to it.
"What is it, why are we here?" she asked."I figured out what the first task is." Thalia replied.
"How?" I asked. How could she have done it? "I was shooting my bow and I noticed fire and yelling I went over and saw a bunch of people with some dragons. So that is the first task, Dragons." she said.
We were all silent until Leo said, "Well then this is gonna be easier then I thought." We all chuckled a bit at that, I mean Leo was fireproof after all.
Once again we all went our separate ways to go have fun in the small town. Jason and I went to check out the candy shop which was probably the most popular among the students. Second only to a joke shop called Zonkos. There were alot of weird candy's like Acid Pops, Chocolate Frogs, and Cockroach Clusters. We bought some candy and then decided to go back the the ship hoping that most of the others would still be in town.
Only two people were aboard the ship when we arrived, Chiron and Lou. We went down to Jason's cabin and ate some of the candy while we talked, it was quite nice. A few kisses here and there. About an hour later we heard voices above which singalled the others had gotten back.
We went up on deck, Annabeth was in a conversation with Hazel and Percy, Thalia, and Nico were in a fight about who's dad was the best with frank trying to come them down before it got to powers point. Leo had already gone downstairs to his cabin.
Jason and I went to help Frank break up the fight, with our help and my charmspeak we got them to stop and not blow up the ship.
A few hours later we all went to dinner in the great hall as usual. Nothing major happened unless you count Nico scaring Peeves half to life (Get it because he is a ghost you probably do) after he pulled a prank that accidentally involved Nico.
After, dinner we all went back to the ship thinking about whatever was on our mind. What was on my mind you ask, well it was the tournament and the dragons and what I thought was gonna happen.
That was the end of this chapter and tell me what POV's you want to see or for me to do again. Sometimes I don't know who to go with.
