Chapter 2 – Unlimited Grinding Works

When I next open my eyes, I find myself standing among a destroyed and burning city under the night sky. Looking around me, I take notice that I'm on a street with burning and smashed buildings all around me.
"Shit!" I really was in the apocalyptic version of Fuyuki City that is Singularity F. "Ok, first things first…"
[Summon Elemental: Charcoal Inpachi]! [Summon Elemental: Dust Devil]!
My surroundings are quickly flooded with light as two Elementals appear before me. With the Summon Elemental skill allowing me to summon one Elemental per five points of INT, two Elementals is the best I can do until I level up my INT some more.
Looking at my summons, I quickly Observe each one of them.

"Ok, seems like Inpachi is going to be my defender while Dust Devil is my striker."
Hearing the sound of teeth hitting each other and the stumbling of feet, I look up ahead to see two dozens of Skeletons slowly walking in my direction.

"Inpachi, protect me! Dust Devil, tear those Skeletons apart!" I order quickly and my Summons obey just as fast. My toughest Elemental gets behind me while the Air Elemental dives at the undead approaching.
Even though he's outnumbered, my Dust Devil proves to be more than capable enough as he takes out skeleton after skeleton with ease.
Seeing the last skeleton being destroyed, I take another look around before sighing. "Ok, so I'm practically in the tutorial of Fate/Grand Order. Something tells me that, to complete it, I'll have to defeat Artoria Alter."
And that something would be half right.
"Only half?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. "Don't tell me that I have to beat all of the Servants that were summoned in the Fourth and Fifth Holy Grail Wars. Or is it just the Servants from Singularity F?"
A little bit of this. A little bit of that.
"And this is supposed to be the tutorial!?"
Oh, don't whine. All of the Servants in this dungeon are Shadow Servants that only possess 30% of their full power.
"Only 30%? Well, depending on the Servant, that is still a lot! Imagine if I have to fight Berserker Herakles?" My eyes then widen as I come to a realization. "Oh my God, I'm gonna have to fight Herakles, won't I?"
I won't confirm or deny the validity of that statement.
"That basically means that I'm right, you fucker!" I rage at the A.I. before Gamer's Mind does its job and calms me down.
Now that I can think logically, I make a plan of action. I need to level up and that means going Rambo on the undead of this dungeon. The mini-bosses, the Shadow Servants, I need to stay clear of until I'm stronger. That means staying away from Homurahara Academy, the Einzbern Castle in the woods, the Ryuji Temple, etc. Basically, any place known for having housed a Servant, or a location that served as the battleground for Servants in the source material. Those are the areas that will most likely trigger a Shadow Servant appearance. Enlarging my mini-map, I find no special markings, and the only recognizable places that I can find at a glance are the school, the temple, the bridge, and the castle.
"If I remember right, Tohsaka's house was near the woods in the southern quadrant of Fuyuki. I will need to stay away from that area; don't want to fight Emiya, after all. Hm, then again, in First Order, Emiya was at the temple… No, better be safe than sorry."
Deciding to head north, I have my Dust Devil go ahead so that he can kill any undead that appears before me. Just like I had expected, there are Skeletons and Zombies everywhere; I can barely take ten steps before one or two appears from a side street, behind me and my Inpachi, or even from the front.
With such a high number of enemies, I start providing some assistance to my Summons. Using Skill Create and Magical Energy Manipulation, I create a few spells to help with that.
[Mana Arrows] (Active): Costs 30 MP. Create three arrows made of mana that deal 15 points of piercing and magical damage each.
[Mana Bolt] (Active): Costs 50 MP. Fire a bolt of mana that deals 25 points of magical and blunt damage.
[Mana Shield] (Active): Project a shield of mana to block attacks. This skill costs 5 MP/second to maintain and blocks blunt, piercing, and magical damage equal to the amount of MP that you put into it.
[Mana Bullet] (Active): Costs 100 MP. Fire a bullet made of mana at your target that deals 150 piercing and magic damage.
As my Dust Devil plows through the Skeletons in front of us, I finish an Undead to my right with a Mana Bolt. Seeing a few Skeletons coming at me from the side street to my left, I take them out with Mana Bullet. More Undead try to get close to me, but my Inpachi takes all of them out. The few that get through I evade or beat to death with a pipe I grabbed from the ground. I'm really thankful for my Summons protecting me as I'm not at the point that I can just spam spells without having to worry about how much MP I have left and how long it takes to recharge.
After almost an hour of going to town on the Undead, I take a short break to check on some notifications from Yugi.

My summons and I then continue on our way forward. With my INT at 60, I can now have up to 12 Elementals, so I quickly summon three more Dust Devils, four Jade Golems, and three more Charcoal Inpachis. Two Jade Golems join my Inpachis in protecting me while the other two join the Dust Devils in the offense.
It's as I and my summons make our way to the main street that I spot some new Skeletons. These, however, look different in that they wear medieval armor.

Hm, better than a normal Skeleton, but still not enough to take on most of my summons. Opening the battle with a salvo of five Mana Bullets at five different Skeleton Warriors, I watch as my Dust Devils and Jade Golems rip through them and any other undead that gets in my way. It's a massacre, really. This is why I chose Summoner for my first class. Not even Level 10 and already I have a group of beings that can take on a company of normal soldiers at my command.
Once the coast is clear, I go to take a step forward when I notice a silver treasure chest appear a few steps in front of me in a flash of light. Using Observe on it, I step closer once I'm sure it isn't a trap of some kind. With two Jade Golems and four Charcoal Inpachis surrounding me, I open the chest and see three bright blue crystals inside, which I quickly Observe.

"Hell yeah!" Grinning at the free stat points, I pick all three crystals up and immediately use them.

18:32, February 3, 2012, Fuyuki City, Singularity F Dungeon
I spend another half hour or so in apocalyptic Fuyuki, massacring Undead, and was about to stop for the day since I still have to go get ready for the dinner at the Parkers. Before I could leave, however, a force field of some kind erected itself, closing the entrances of the street I found myself at.
Then I hear the sound of something flying through the air and, faster than I can react, a Jade Golem loses its head and there's a crash directly to my right.
"The fuck!?" I quickly jump to the side and look at what crashed on my right. Seeing a chain with a spike at the end, my eyes widen as I immediately recognize it. "Shit!"
In the blink of an eye, she lands before her chain, her long, purple hair, purple blindfold, and dominatrix get up impossible not to recognize for a fan of Fate/Stay Night. In another blink, she's right in front of me, ready to kick me in the gut. Fortunately for me, the other Jade Golem serving as my bodyguard had moved closer to me after she took the other out. It manages to put their forearm in the path of her kick, which hits with a solid thud and cracks my golem's forearm. She then uses the forearm of my golem as a platform to jump backward and land on top of the roof of a broken house with a moonsault.
All of this happened in two seconds for me. One second she's a few feet away from, the other she's in front of me, jumping away from the cracked forearm of my Jade Golem.
"Damn! That's crazy!" If it weren't for Gamer's Mind, I would be losing my shit right now. Instead, I quickly use Observe on my new opponent.
Medusa

Do recall that an E-Ranked Servant is 10 times stronger than the average human.
Oh, right. Well, so she's stronger and faster than any of my summons and has six times my HP. My fastest Summons are my Dust Devils, but they still can't compete with her. Well, not without some help from me. Thankfully, my MP bar is full.

Choosing one of my Dust Devils, I reinforce its STR four times and its AGI five times, which costs me 672 MP. It is now capable of outpacing and hurting Medusa for a whole minute. Unfortunately, that about takes up all of my MP and it will take me eight minutes to get it all back again. Gotta make that minute count.
"Reinforced Dust Devil, take her out! Normal Dust Devils, help him out!"
As soon as the words left my mouth, my Reinforced Dust Devil was on the move. Moving faster than before, it gets in front of Medusa and punches the Shadow Servant in her beautiful face. Medusa stumbles back from the blow, barely hurt I'm sure since she has 60 END and my RDD now has 73 STR. Nonetheless, my Air Elemental keeps up the attack, its fellow Air Elementals finally catching up to him to help out.
While that happens, I order my Inpachis and Jade Golems to form up around me as I move around to better watch the fight. The battle is more one-sided than I thought it would be, even though I can barely keep up the combatants. You see, my Dust Devils are made of, well, dust. They're essentially sentient dust tornados with humanoid forms. As such, physical attacks don't work on them. With my Reinforced Dust Devil being faster than Medusa, she's fighting a losing battle; even more so with the other Dust Devils helping their reinforced comrade by employing guerilla tactics and hitting the Servant whenever there's an opening. She may not feel their attacks, but being hit by mosquito bites is quite annoying.
With her messily 5 INT, it takes losing three-quarters of her HP for Medusa to realize her situation. Once she does, she tries to move past her opponents and attack me.
Vaulting over the punch of a normal Dust Devil, Medusa uses her chain to snag a Jade Golem by the neck. Pulling on the chain, she pulls herself and the golem forward. With a move reminiscent of Might Guy's Dynamic Entry, the Shadow Rider Servant dropkicks the Jade Golem in the chest with enough strength to crack it. The Jade Golem falls backward due to the momentum carried by Medusa and she uses it as a platform to springboard over the other summons protecting me. In a move similar to her opening attack, she goes to throw one of the spiked ends of her chain at my head. Unfortunately for her, my Reinforced Dust Devil catches up to her before she can do that and tackles her in mid-air.
The pair impact the barrier that had formed once Medusa showed up and my RDD doesn't waste time in taking advantage of having its prey with nowhere to run. Making use of its enhanced speed, the Dust Devil unleashes a barrage of punches on Medusa. My Summon is relentless, not stopping its attack until the Shadow Servant's HP finally reaches zero and she disperses into pixels.

I'm not gonna lie, I laughed! I laughed so hard once I saw my gains! 180 INT? That equals 36 Summons that I can have outside! I basically have a platoon of super soldiers at my command now!
Seeing a golden treasure chest appear in front of me, I stop laughing at my good fortune and go for it. Opening the chest, I smirk at what's inside.

Palming the talisman, I watch as my body becomes invisible, "This is awesome!"
Sending the Snake Talisman to my Inventory, I become visible again. "Ok, Yugi. Let's see what else I can win today!"
Don't you have dinner to get ready for?
Freezing, I look at the clock on my HUD, which tells me that it is a quarter to 7 PM.
"Shit! Thanks for reminding me, Yugi."
No problem.
Quickly dismissing my Summons, I leave the dungeon.

19:00, February 3, 2012, Forest Hills, Queens, New York
I'm so glad for my Inventory. Seriously, if it wasn't for it, I would have taken longer getting ready for dinner at the Parkers. Equipping clothes is so much faster than getting dressed the normal way. For the occasion, I chose to wear a black, short-sleeved polo shirt, dark-blue jeans, and gray Nike tennis. I want to make a good first impression with the Parkers; mainly because Peter is a genius and having one in my pocket will be useful.
His hot aunt is also a very good reason. In my previous life, I had managed to get into the pants of a few of my friends' mothers and I want to keep the tradition going. How did I manage it? Well, it took some charm, creativity, and a lot of blackmail.
Reaching the doorstep of the Parker Residence, I press the bell's button. A couple of moments later, the door is opened by a middle-aged man with short brown hair and brown eyes. My eyes widen a bit as I recognize him as Michael Weatherly, the actor that played the role of Anthony DiNozzo in NCIS.
"Ah, you must be Elias. I'm Ben Parker, May's husband, and Peter's uncle. Please, come in," the young Ben Parker introduces himself.
"It's nice to you meet you, Mr. Parker," I bring my hand up as I walk in and he shakes it. I may be smiling on the outside, but on the inside, I'm a bit surprised to see a younger version of Peter's Uncle Ben. Then again, I shouldn't be; MCU's May Parker is middle-aged as well, so of course, Ben Parker would be too. That he hasn't kicked the bucket yet shouldn't come as a surprise either; if he had died already, I'm pretty sure Peter would be Spider-Man already too.
"Please, call me Ben," he asks while gesturing for me to get inside. I give him a nod and walk-in. Following Ben to the dining table, I notice that the Parker Residence looks a lot like my own house on the inside. It's as I look around that I finally recall where I last saw such a set-up: the Amazing Spider-Man movies.
"Hey, Elias. Glad you could make it," Peter says from his seat at the dinner table. Sitting to his right is a young man that I immediately recognize as Ned Leeds from the MCU.
"Hey, Peter. Happy to be here," I reply as I make my way around the table and take a seat beside Ned. "Hey, the name is Elias Xavier. Nice to meet you."
Shaking my hand, Ned introduces himself as well. "Hey, man. I'm Ned Leeds, Peter's best friend."
"My male best friend," Peter corrects him. "Don't forget that Gwen is my best friend as well."
Ned just waves off Peter, "Details." Looking back to Elias, he says, "Now, I gotta ask you some very important questions. You ready?"
Raising an eyebrow at Ned's serious face, Elias nods, "Shoot."
"What's your favorite movie genre?"
"I like action, adventure, supernatural, and sci-fi."
"Do you like superhero movies?"
"Yes; my favorites are the first two movies of the Dark Knight trilogy and 2009's Watchmen."
"What about videogames? Do you play any?"
"I play some, but not as much as before."
"What is your favorite videogame franchise?"
"Devil May Cry, God of War, and Mortal Kombat; in that order."
"Ok," Ned brings up a fist and extends it towards Elias. "You're cool." Smirking, Elias bumps fists with him.

"If you say so." I should really ask Yugi about those notifications later.
I hear the doorbell ring again and May's voice calls out from the kitchen.
"Peter! Could you open the door, please?"
"Sure!" He replies before looking back at Ned and me. "Be right back, guys."
Looking at Ned, I ask, "Was anyone else invited to this dinner?"
He nods in confirmation, "Yeah, the Watsons on the other side of the street. May and Mrs. Watson have been friends since the former moved here, so both families eating at each other's houses is quite common." He leans closer to me and whispers, "FYI, Peter has a huge crush on Michelle, Mrs. Watson's niece, so no-poaching her."
Smirking, I bring my hands up. "Duly noted, man. It would be remiss of me as a fellow bro to poach Peter's crush."
Looking back at the front door, sure enough, I see Peter hugging a middle-aged woman that I don't recognize from anywhere. Behind whom I assume is Anna Watson is Michelle Jones Watson, who of course looks like a Goth version of Zendaya. To my surprise, however, I also take notice of a redhead at Michelle's side, who looks like a clone of Bella Thorne. A quick use of Observe tells me who she is.
Mary Jane Watson

Huh, two MJs? Didn't see that one coming. Guess I'll have no problem in letting Peter have Michelle; Mary Jane is mine though.
Peter lets the three Watsons in and guides them to the table. All three women quickly notice me and two of them smile at me.
"Ah, you must be Elias, our new neighbor. It is a pleasure to meet you, young man. My name is Anna Watson," the older redhead introduces herself.
Standing up as she approaches me, we greet each other with cheek kisses before I introduce myself.
"The pleasure is mine, Mrs. Watson."
"Please, call me Anna." She then gestures to the two MJs. "And these are my nieces: Mary Jane and Michelle Jones."
The redheaded teen steps forward to greet me. "Hi, I'm Mary Jane, but you can call me MJ."
"Elias Xavier." We exchange greetings before I look at Michelle.
"Michelle Jones," she says with a wave instead of greeting me like MJ and her aunt did.
"A pleasure," I reply with a wave of my own.
Ben and May then came out of the kitchen, each carrying a pot that they put on the table.
"Hello, Elias; I'm glad you came," May tells me before looking at the Watsons. "Hello Anna, MJ, Michelle. What took you girls so long?"
"You can ask Ms. Popular here, May," Michelle states while pointing at MJ, who glares at her. "She took forever to get her hair done."
"Hey, perfection takes time, sis," MJ rebukes.
Huh, so they're sisters? Makes sense, I guess.
May and Anna share a giggle while Ben chuckles. "Yes, it does, MJ. Now take a seat everyone so we can dig in."
Everyone takes a seat and May starts to serve us.

Among the many venues of the Las Vegas Strip, one stands in clear distinction from the others: the Mercury Rising Hotel and Casino. Having made its opening on November 7th of 2004, Mercury Rising quickly grew in fame the following years, until it eventually hit the same level of renown as the famous Casino Royale in 2005, mere six months after its inauguration.
Such growth in fame was unheard of and threw many businesspeople for a loop. Many important magnates inquired how Cassandra Mercury, the owner of Mercury Rising, managed such a feat. To this day, Cassandra has never explicitly told anyone the secret to her hotel and casino's rise to fame. Whenever asked, she would say her success is a mix of luck, good marketing strategy, and having the right contacts. In truth, however, the secret to the sudden rise of Mercury Rising is must simpler and fantastical.
Magic. Honest to God magic.

Making use of Mercury Rising Hotel's most expensive and luxurious suite is a single person. Though they wear a simple white silk bathrobe, the piece of fabric does nothing to hide the individual's sinful curves, marking them as clearly female. Sitting in front of a seventy inches plasma screen TV as she watches 1931's Dracula, the woman has short red hair styled in a pixie cut, green eyes, and seems to be in her early thirties. A wine glass is leisurely held in her right hand, her arms are crossed beneath her impressive chest, and her legs are also crossed as she leans back into the sofa; the picture of relaxed.
Suddenly, there's a knock on the suite's door and, with a gesture of the redhead's left hand, the door opens by itself. A middle-aged man with short brown hair and blue eyes walks in, uncaring about the paranormal phenomenon as he was already used to it. With quick steps, the man is by the woman's side and takes a knee. The redhead, her eyes never leaving the TV, let's go of her wine glass – which floats in mid-air as if being held by an invisible force – and extends her right hand to the brunette.
"Madame Mystery," grabbing her hand with great care, the man kisses the redhead's knuckles. "I have come with good news," he says, never once looking up at the woman.
"Is that so?" she asks, her attention still on the movie.
"Yes, Madame; the last scion of the Casterwill's has been found."
Eyes widening in surprise, Madame Mystery gestures to the TV with her left hand and the movie stops. With her attention now on the man kneeling before her, she orders, "Look at me, Daniel."
The man, now known as Daniel, looks up at his mistress and their eyes lock up. Blue looks at green in submission and the latter shines with power.

"Yes, Madame," Daniel confirms before pulling a photo from his jacket's inner left pocket. "Here is a photograph of him."
Grabbing the photo handed to her with her right hand, Madame Mystery takes a good look at the person depicted in it. "Hm, tell me about him."
"As you wish, Madame. His name is Elias Xavier, son of the recently deceased Christina and Julian Xavier. We believe that Christina Xavier was the only survivor of the Casterwill Massacre, Sophia Casterwill and that she changed her name upon leaving Italy and moving to New York. She and Julian Xavier have recently died in a car crash, leaving Elias Xavier an orphan. With no relatives and being already 18 years old, Elias was given his parents' inheritance. He then sold their home in Manhattan and just finished moving into Forest Hills."
Madame Mystery takes a few moments to take her servant's report in before she grins. Letting the photo float in the air, the redhead grabs her still floating wine glass and takes a sip. "These are great news, Daniel. Luck seems to be smiling upon me."
"It is as you say, Madame."
Grinning down at the brunette, Madame Mystery makes Elias's photo, and her wine glass float down to the coffee table on her left. "I assume that you already sent a team to retrieve young Elias, correct?"
Daniel nods in confirmation, "Affirmative, Madame."
"Good." Uncrossing her legs, Madame Mystery moved her hands to the belt of her robe. "You have done spectacular work, Daniel. As such, I have deemed you worthy of reward."
"You honor me, Madame," he bows.
With a chuckle, the redhead opens her bathrobe, showing her naked glory underneath. Skin with no blemish, a pair of C-Cup breasts, a slim waist, and a pink, puffy, and shaved pussy; Madame Mystery is the picture of sexiness as she reclines on the sofa.
"Come and pleasure me, Daniel."

Update 24/01/2021: I made some changes to the fight with Medusa after taking into account what Elias will explain in Chapter 4. Also made some changes to the [Mystic Eyes of Binding] skill. Also changed the second Living Artifact that Elias can summon from Dimensional Jar to Mystic Lamp.
Fun Fact: the last scene wasn't in the first draft of this story. I came up with this scene and the upcoming mini-arc last minute because I didn't want to end the chapter in the previous scene.
So, here it is, the second chapter of my first Gamer story. Now, I'm pretty sure most of you are wondering where Singularity F came from. Well, I didn't want to use the generic zombie dungeon level, so I thought that having Elias go through Fate/Grand Order's stages would be more original. Also, apologies if the fight against Shadow Medusa wasn't what you were expecting. With how weak Shadow Medusa is, I thought that writing Dust Devil wiping the floor with her in detail would be boring. Besides, the story so far has been told from Elias' perspective and, as I said in the chapter, he couldn't really keep up with Shadow Medusa and Reinforced Dust Devil.
Oh, for those wondering, Madame Mystery and Daniel are not OCs. She, he, Cassandra Mercury, and Mercury Rising are all canon to the Marvel Universe; I've just made some adjustments so they can fit my story.
