Cheeks of Glitter
Hey everyone! I wanna apologize for the long delay. Life has been crazy and it's been hard to write. I have not forgotten about this story. Being said, I have some news. I decided to go vegan, and I'm excited to share the benefits with Heidi and Stan in this fanfiction! Hurray!
Also, since I'm just getting back into writing this chapter may be a bit short, so bare with me!
Chapter Eleven
"I just fell down a cliff," Kyle said Monday morning as he leaned against his locker with crutches in his hands and a boot on his foot. He tried to make his story short before the school bell rang, as a few of his classmates circled him and questioned about his injury. "Didn't Stan tell you that?"
"He sure didn't," Butters said in a cheerful voice, excited to see that Kyle was back. "I haven't had a chance to talk to Stan." He tried to avoid the fact that Stan stood him up at recess when he requested a private conversation. It was hurtful. However, in his nature, he forgave Stan for it and tried to think positive.
Kyle didn't think much of Stan's distance behavior. He was too tired from the pain medications to wonder.
Jimmy Bulmer, along with Scott, were also there in the friendly circle. Jimmy instantly changed the subject and brought up the topic of the school dance. "Only two weeks away," he said.
Kyle yawned tiredly and gave a dull expression, only half listening to his friend's words.
"Oh, gee-wiz!" Butters exclaimed. "I have to ask a girl out quick! Kyle, are you gonna ask a girl out?"
"No way, dude, that's lame," Kyle replied just before the warning bell rang, and the students at the school scattered through the halls toward their classrooms. Before Kyle could take off, he felt a pat on his left shoulder, and instantly heard a familiar voice.
"Kyle, we gotta talk," Eric said as he appeared, making his way in front of his friend. The look on his face was anger and caution.
Kyle at once knew that there was something on Eric's mind, and that meant he was up to know well, and planning on doing who knows what to who knows who. Kyle sighed. "What is it, Cartman?" he asked in tired tone.
"Your boyfriend has his eyes and hands on Heidi."
Kyle was too tired to understand what his friend was saying, although he didn't have to give it some thought that he was talking about Stan. Referring to him as Kyle's boyfriend was one way of ripping on their friendship. Sometimes best friends were closer than peanut butter and jelly, which would either annoy their peers or make them jealous. "What are you talking about, Cartman?" Kyle asked annoyed, barely giving his friend eye contact.
"Stan has been spending a lot of time with her. They are getting close, I'm sure."
"Dude, you had your chance with her, and you screwed up. She deserves somebody who respects her. Just let it go." Kyle took off, crunches in all. He felt he said enough and didn't look back.
Eric, on the other hand, was not content. He nearly made his mouth drop as he watched Kyle head to class. Anger grew inside him, and he wanted to have a fist fight, with Kyle and Stan. "It's against Bro code, Kyle! Have you forgotten?" He got nothing but the sound of the second bell, telling him that he was about to be tardy for class.
"You enjoying that smoothie?" Heidi asked Stan, who was sitting at his desk with a cup and straw. The taste of raspberry and banana soothed the boy.
"Yep, it's good," Stan replied. It was his first diet as a vegan, and so far, he felt all right. However, he was worried about what his body would do in the next couple of days. Not eating meat at all was never a good thing for him, because his body reacted in strange ways. However, he didn't want to disappoint Heidi.
"Wanna go on the swings at recess?"
"I was actually gonna work on my new song, but you can watch if you want."
"Okay."
"Boy, Stan and Heidi sure are getting along so well," Butters said.
"Better than her and Cartman," Bebe replied, even if the boy didn't intend for her to hear him. "At least Stan shows respect."
"Respect?" Eric scoffed after hearing those words. He wanted to back that up, but Mr. Garrison was already in the classroom, telling the children to take their seats and simmer down.
"The school counselor had a meeting with the principal," he started, "so you will be doing your self-esteem class after lunch."
"What about recess?" That came from Clyde, who was on the edge of his seat, eager and nervous to get answers. A child was nothing without their recess times.
"Enjoy morning recess, you're taking the class after lunch." There was annoyance in the teacher's voice, and a loud groan echoed the classroom. "Stanley, no food in the classroom."
Stan removed the tip of his straw from his mouth and watched his teacher closely. In an instant he heard Wendy protest on his behave.
"I think this is his breakfast, Mr. Garrison," Wendy said. "Besides, isn't it good to have a healthy source of protein?"
Stan wondered if Wendy and Heidi were secret sisters having discussions on what was healthy and what wasn't.
"I don't care," Mr. Garrison said, "Stanley, toss it."
Stan didn't hesitate, nor did he argue. He didn't mind giving up the delicious drink that he was sure would make him sick in the next twelve hours. He stood up from his desk and threw the cup in the trash. As he sat down in his desk, Mr. Garrison began the math lesson.
Stan was sure he could feel Heidi's on him, but when he turned to look at her, the girl didn't look upset at all. She only had a look of thrill, as if she were the happiest girl alive. And then those perfect words echoed through his mind. "Happiest girl alive". He promised himself to make note of that for his new lyrics.
Breaking the boy's thoughts, a folded-up piece of notebook paper dropped on top his desk. Wondering who dropped it there, Stan unfolded it and began to read the written notes written neatly on it.
Can we talk before recess?
Stan then noticed Butters saving at him with a cheerful smile, hoping his friend would agree to his request. That's when it hit him, reminding him that Butters have been trying to talk to him for a while now. He bit his lip awkwardly and nodded.
Butters's smile grew, and he instantly went to writing down his math notes. Then, when the time finally came for him to talk with Stan, Butters waited by his own locker.
The blonde-haired boy was slightly apprehensive about the discussion he was intending to have with his friend. However, it was deeply important to him, and he wasn't going to let fear keep him from proceeding.
This time Stan didn't fail to show up, and had his guitar in his hand, ready to practice his song. He knew that Heidi was already outside on the playground waiting for him and he didn't want his talk with Butters to go on too long.
"Hey Stan!" Butters said cheerfully.
"What's up?" Stan asked.
"I have a question. Well, a request."
Stan blinked in curiosity and remained quiet so his friend could continue.
"Is it okay if I go out with Wendy?"
