Rose held Herbie's hand through the car ride to stop her shaking hands. They were sitting in the parking lot and Rose felt awful. She felt nauseous, her head hurt from the unshed tears.

"Honey, are you feeling okay?"

"I'm fine, just fine…" she growled, massaging her temples, trying not to let her emotions get the best of her. It was taking too much out of her.

"I know for a fact, that's not true. Come on, spit it out…" Herbie's voice was comforting but firm, it broke into pieces. He knew she was nervous to see her father, what with what she'd done. He knew that much.

"I, well, I haven't talked to him since I took that damn plaque. He has no idea about what happened to June! Let alone you and the new baby!" she stuttered, feeling her grasp on her tears slipp.

Herbie was a little shocked that she hadn't talked to her own father for that long! But he wasn't that shocked 'cus it was Rose.

How did he find us then?" He questioned "and why?"

"He wrote last week, he said he needed to talk with me about something. And in case you were wondering, I didn't tell you 'cus I forgot. God! Why am I so nervous!?"

"Well, you are forgiven, and I think we should go in, it's not good for the baby for you to be so stressed out." ne lefto room for Rose to argue, and got out of the car, and helped Rose to do so as well. Herbie feels her starting to shake and wraps a protective arm around her shoulders. Just in case

"It's gonna be fine…" opening the door for Rose. was a nice restaurant, small and comforting. As Herbie told the hostess who they were looking for and, Rose scanned the faces of the people in the dining room anxiously. Rose unconsciously walked with Herbie to the table.

Herbie pulled out her chair for her, which she grateful sank into. Before took his own. They ordered their food and Rose finally broke the silence.

"Papa? I missed you!" she breathed, desperate to get him to say something. Anything!

"So, who's this? Finally found someone?" Rose felt relief flood over her after hearing her father's voice.

"Yes, Papa, this is herbie, we've been together for four years" managing to keep her voice stable, she continued.

"And we've been married for two…" she took Herbie's hand in her own, trying to comfort herself.

"Well, congratulations. So you're finally settled down? No more crap about that show of yours I hope?"

"It is not 'crap,' it's art! And no we don't stay in one place forever, we travel for Herbie's agent work. He makes quite a lot, too!" Rose defended herself.

"Ahh, thats why…"

"Why what?" Herbie spoke for the both of them.

"You married for the money, right Rose? You know you did." the accusing tone in her fathers voice made her feel sick.

"No! I married for love!" she hissed angrily, her stomach making flips.

"Sure…" Another sarcastic comment. After another rude remark, Herbie couldn't stand it anymore.

"Now wait just a minute! How can you talk to her like that?"

"I know why i married her, l love her, so much! And she loves me, I know it!" Herbie squeezed her hand as if to say 'mine.' he loved her and he loved the baby. He always would.

After composting herself, rose started again.

"Why did you ask me to come, what happened? What do you need me to pay you?" she sighed.

"It's not about the money. It's about June." Rose felt her heart drop, break and repair itself in five seconds. Her eyes filled with tears instantly.

"Papa, how!?" she stuttered in disbelief.

"she wrote to me a month ago. She told me everything that happened and what was happening. Then begged me to let her come live with me…" papa sounded tired.

"Oh, God, what happened?" Herbie spoke Rose's thoughts. She just sat there with her mouth half open.

"Why don't you ask her yourselves?"

"Wha- she's here?!" Rose gasped, looking around.

"June! You can come over now!" papa called. A woman stood up at another table and walked toward their's. It was June.

"June? June!" Rose stood so fast, the chair toppled over. She didn't care.

"Hello, mama…" was all that the young woman could say before Rose brought her into a bone crushing hug, while sobbing. Was this really happening? She couldn't believe her eyes, but if it was real, she started to cry.

It was all coming up in the world. With Herbie. With the baby. Maybe even with her father…

"Curtin up, light the lights, I've got nothing to hit but the heights!" and Rose, for once, actually believed herself.
