"Words" Demon Speech

"I've seen everything, so would you like to team up with me?" Sister Krone asks as she looks at the five children.

The kids stood frozen, the multitude of emotions rushing through them like a river. Fear, shock, and anger petrified them, except for Norman.

"Guys, it's okay, just stay calm. Let's hear what she has to say." Norman told them in a relaxed tone with a smile on his face.

The four others look at him confused, while Krone was impressed, 'he managed to see, didn't he…' Krone thought.

"He is right. I only wish for us to join forces to achieve our goals." Krone said to them.

"Achieve our goals?" Emma asked.

"Yep, your goal is to escape, and mine is to become the Mama of this house, by dragging Isabella out of the position, and taking it myself." She explained to them.

"Her position?" Don repeated.

"In a way, our goals are the same. Let me prove it to you." Krone told them, starting to take off her collar, "You see, I want to escape, My position," She told them, showing them a number on her neck, in the same place as them.

The children started at her numbers, shocked at the revelation. She was just like them, a child of the orphanage.

"Do you know the rules of this system are organized?" Krone asked. Emma gave a confused look, asking with a hum.

"Girls who achieve certain requirements and live here until they turn twelve are given two choices. To either die and be eaten, or live and work towards becoming a Mama." Krone explained.

"And what are the requirements?" Spencer asked.

"High grades on tests, and a recommendation from the Mama that takes care of them," Krone told him. "As long as those two hurdles are jumped, you have an option of survival, of course, that only applies to the girls. However, I wouldn't recommend it," Krone says as she undoes the first couple of buttons on her dress.

Revealing her sternum, a scar can be seen from the end of the bell's neck to her xiphoid. "They will modify your body, after which you will never be able to leave the designated areas," She tells the children.

"You are all still able to escape. I, however, can never leave," she said, buttoning up her shirt.

"Why, what do you mean?" Emma asked.

"A microchip," Krone answered. "The adults have a small device placed on their hearts. It's programmed to electrocute us when we leave the designated areas, causing our hearts to stop. Furthermore, it sends an alert should our hearts stop for any reason," She explains.

"My only option is to live here and make the best of what I have," She says, a sad smile on her face.

"I want to spend the rest of my life, being a Mama, even if it's all fake. I want to live in a cozy house with a cozy family of adorable children who love me. That is why I must get rid of Isabella!" She tells them.

The five kids stand there in disbelief. She has given more information about the adults in the past minute then they have learned in the past week.

"I must erase her. If all you escape, Isabella will be forced to take responsibility for it, and my dream will come true!" She said, a smile on her face. "That's why I will not get in your way, escape as far as you can, it will only benefit me,"

"So… you won't ship us out?" Gilda asks with a shaky voice.

"I will not," Krone replies, smiling. "So why don't we become partners? We have a common enemy in Isabella! Let's work together," Krone outstretches a hand to be shaken.

Emma and Spencer look at each other, having a conversation by just looking. Norman contemplates what she said. After thinking for a moment, Norman begins to extend his own hand.

"Wait!" Emma and Spencer exclaim.

Looking at each other, Emma nods before speaking. "We will agree with Norman whatever he chooses, but before we shake on it, I want to make sure of something,"

"Of course, dearies, what is it?" Krone asks.

"Do you have any proof that will make sure you don't betray us?" Emma asks with seriousness.

"Oh ho! It looks like you haven't learned to trust me yet," Krone replies with a smirk.

"Just tell us!" Emma yells.

"hehe, it's Ray. He could easily tell Mama all that I am planning and destroy me. Still, as my insurance, I could tell Isabella Ray's true intentions, and you'd all be shipped out that night." Krone tells the girl. "It would be mutually assured destruction, I'd rather not have that happen. So is that good enough for you?"

"...okay," Emma replies.

"Then we have a deal," Krone says as she shakes Norman's hand. "Heh, you know, it's all thanks to Gilda and Don making all that ruckus the other day that I found out who were my targets," Krone says, grinning at the two ten-year-olds.

Don and Gilda look at the Sister in shock, they knew they screwed up when they went into Mama's secret room, but this was not something they could predict.

"See you kids later~" She sang out as she walked towards the house.

The five stood in silence, watching Krone walk away. After she is out of sight, Spencer walks over to Don and Gilda, still reeling from Krones confession.

"Come on, guys, don't let her get to you. With how she has been tailing us, Krone was going to find out eventually," Spencer told them, placing his hands on their shoulders.

"Yes, we can also completely cut off our plans to distract Krone now that we have made an agreement with her. We only have to worry about Mama, for now, at least," Norman continues.

"We have to make the best of what we have," Emma says to the others in a dark tone. Emma's face contours with rage as she continues. "She was one of us! She knows how it is to live here and say goodbye to your family… and yet… How could she think that raising kids who love her and then sending them to be eaten is the best thing she could do? How could it be cozy? How could it be pure and human? She doesn't care about any of us!" Emma yells out.

Spencer rushed to Emma's side, grabbing her clenched fists. "Calm down, Emma, we all know. She is planning to ship us out when we stop being useful. The minute she gets the physical proof she needs to usurp Mama, she will get us shipped." Spencer said, attempting to calm the angry orange head.

"I agree, but this also gives us an advantage. Gaining power and credibility is not easy, and she will need those things to take Mama down. As long as we prevent her from getting the evidence she needs, she will not be able to stop us." Norman explains.

"This deal may be a farce, but we can play this game for a while. Spencer, Emma, I want you to go to Krone tonight and ask some questions. We can make a list of questions to ask Krone before dinner. For now, let's get some more training in." Norman continues. The rest of the children nod in agreement and head back to the house to train.

That night.

Spencer knocks on Sister Krone's door and steps back to Emma. Most of the kids were already asleep or getting ready to sleep. As the door opens, Krone peaks out to see who it is and seeing the two children opens the door widely.

"Come right in. I am guessing you have some questions for me, am I right?" Krone asks, stepping back so the two children can enter. Spencer and Emma enter the room and close the door behind them.

"Well, Go on, fire away!" Krone tells the two kids.

"Are you sure we can ask you about anything," Emma asks, wanting reassurance.

"Of course! Let it be about the farm, headquarters, or…" She began to list off before Emma interrupted.

"What does it feel like being an adult who murders children?" She inquires, wondering if it could be asked.

With a smirk, Krone replies. "Yes, I can answer that, and anything else you want to know."

"Then show us the pocket watch, the one you and Mama use to track us," Spencer asked, well more demanded, given his tone.

"Oh? Hehe Of course, here it is," Krone replies, offering the watch to the boy. "What do you think, it can't identify who is who, but the positioning system can find a person within a single meter," Krone explained. "I'm impressed you figured out the trackers."

"Yea, Mama showed us, albeit in an indirect way." Emma explains as she and Spencer look at the watch.

"The problem is we have no idea how they work or even where they are," Emma tells the Sister.

"And that's why you can't escape just yet, right?" Krone guessed, to which the two children nodded.

"But you know where they are, don't you, Sister," Spencer accused.

"Yes, the location… is here, on the back of the left ear," Krone says, pointing to the location, shocking the kids.

"I'd advise against breaking it, HQ gets an alert immediately after they are destroyed." Krone explains, "No, the best option would be to remove the ear entirely. That way it is not destroyed, and you can fool Mama into thinking you are simply inside your room," She suggests.

"But the house barely has any sharp objects that would work, knives, scissors, and the tool shed are all used by Mama and locked uptight." Spencer tells Krone, "Moreover, when we get out, we won't have any medical supplies to use. If the cut gets infected, we would be screwed."

"Well the medical room has scalpels, they are barely used, but they are replaced every year. The room also has drugs and tools that would make the process much safer." Krone explains, "I'm guessing there is about enough supplies for the procedure to be done for five kids. You will need a key to get in there, so here's mine, give it back soon, though. If Mama finds out I lost mine, then I'll be out of here, and I will rat you out along with me. Now, what's next?" she asks.

"How old are you? I know you were born into a situation much like ourselves," Emma askes.

"My word, how indecent of you! You should never ask a grown woman her age!" Krone exclaims dramatically, "Is what I'd love to say. I am 26, I was raised in this very house. Isabella is 31, and she was raised on a different farm, according to her records." Krone explains.

"Have you seen the outside world, do you know what it's like?" Spencer asked, hoping to find out what is out there.

"Never and no, respectively," Krone replies simply, much to Emma and Spencer's shock.

"What, did you expect me to say yes? It's true I have never left beyond the outer walls," Krone replies to their shocked faces. "But I know there are humans out there." She said flatly.

"The adults that work inside come from the farms themselves, but there are humans that deliver supplies like food, clothing, test material, books, toys, and furniture all come from outside." Krone explains. "I have even seen one back at HQ. From what I could tell, that human was on equal grounds with 'them'." she tells them, emphasizing 'them'.

"The point is, there are humans out there that don't get eaten, and your goal should be to escape and blend in with their society." Krone tells the two.

'There is a society of humans out there? But if there is, why would they let us be farmed like this? If the demons arrived after 2015, how has there never been any conflict with them? Wait, if the outside world is supplying us with books and such, then the demons may have been here longer then just thirty years. They would have to have made some sort of deal where nobody knows about them, and in return, they get us!' Spencer thought, taking in all the information.

Emma continues with questioning. "Sister Krone, do you know when the demons came to this world and why we all ended up in this situation?" Emma asked.

'She must be having a similar thought to mine,' Spencer concluded.

"Demons? OH, you mean 'them,'" Krone said, putting emphasis on the 'them' again. "No, I do not." She answered.

"Where is the farm located?" Emma asked.

"I have no idea," Krone replied.

"What is the security around the farm like?" Spencer questioned.

"That I can answer, honestly, it's not that bad. The people in charge have a lot of faith in the trackers, so they don't have any patrols outside of the farms." Krone explained." I do remember a year after I joined the organization, there was an escape from one of the other farms, for a couple of years after that, they had patrols, but it has died down over time."

"Can you tell us anything about it?" Emma asked, With the hope of getting some info that would help them.

"I was 13. All I know was that there were an alarm and a bunch of 'them' sent out to find the escapees. I don't know how many, how, or where they came from." Krone explained.

After a moment to collect their thoughts, Emma and Spencer thank Krone for the information and start to head out. However, just as Spencer touches the door handle, Krone starts to laugh hysterically.

"I see! So you knew where the trackers were and how to get rid of them, HAHA. Very intriguing, I've learned just as much as you have." Krone said with a grin.

Spencer and Emma were shocked, 'how did she find out? We didn't say anything that would make her think…' they thought.

"Surly, you both know… Information isn't just words." Krone tells them. "You were both very careful with your words, being careful about what you said and when. If I was anyone else, you would have fooled me. Excellent job! But you let your guard down and became overconfident in your ability to plan." Krone walks over to the kids and starts dancing around them.

"To me, humans are like open books, just by watching them you can learn so much! Attitude, eyes, blinking, sweat, actions, pupils, heart rate! Everything that I can observe can be used to keep you in check." Krone tells them with a broad grin. "You didn't touch your ears when I told you where the tracker was, and you didn't seem to be excited with my proposed plan to get rid of them." Krone stops dancing and looks at the two children. "The question is, why did you ask me questions you already knew the answer to? Are you hiding something from me?" She asked.

"Emma, don't worry, we have not given her any physical evidence she could use against us," Spencer whispers to his friend.

"Yeah," Emma confirms.

"Well that doesn't matter, do you know about लᘯ⠝ێ?" Krone asked.

The two children froze. They heard a sound come out of her mouth, but it didn't sound like words, nor did it sound like gibberish. Whatever it was, it filled them with dread, like a force that they could not comprehend.

"You don't. Of course, you don't. I'll tell you all about that the next time you come visit. So come by anytime, we have a lot more to discuss." Krone said, opening the door with one hand and placing the other on Emma's shoulder.

The two children walked out into the quiet and dark hall in silence, waiting for Krone to close the door and for them to walk past the corner before discussing.

"We underestimated her, she saw right through us," Spencer commented, Emma, nodding in agreement.

"She still has no proof. Even if she can read us, it's not enough to ship us early," Emma told him.

"Sister Krone is just as dangerous as Mama, she may be younger, but she is an adult who survived this long even in such a harsh system," Spencer said, clenching his fists.

"We have to escape, as soon as possible, we have to get out of here. With Mama and Krone working independently, we have two forces we have to worry about. The longer we stay, the more likely we will be found out," Emma tells Spencer, who simply nods as they walk to the library to brief the others in their conversation with Krone.

The library.

"To sum everything up, Krone is telling us the truth, she has never seen the outside world, there are humans out there, she doesn't know much about the demons, the people don't patrol out there, kids have escaped before, she knows we know about the trackers and how to get rid of them, and she wants to tell us about something called लᘯ⠝ێ, Is that all?" Norman listed, wanting to get the gist of what they learned.

"Yes, but the way she talked about लᘯ⠝ێ made it seem like someone rather than something," Spencer told him.

"That doesn't matter right now, what's more important is that she knows we can get rid of the trackers. How could you let that slip!" Ray barked, bonking both Emma and Spencer on the head.

"She read our behavior and faces. We didn't say anything suspicious, but she found out. We underestimated her. It won't happen again," Spencer says, rubbing his head.

"We messed up, she may have learned something important, but we learned so much more," Emma tells him, rubbing her head as well.

"Forget about that for now, some kids escaped! That means it is possible!" Don said with excitement.

"We can discuss all that later. Ray, when will the tracker disrupter be ready?" Norman asks Ray.

With a smirk, Ray replies, "Got the last part today, I'll be able to finish it tomorrow after we see beyond the wall."

"Good, for now, let's go to bed, meeting adjourned for now." Norman tells them as he walks to the door.

"Wait, before we go, I'd like to say something about what Krone told us," Spencer explains, stopping everyone.

Taking a deep breath, Spencer continues." I think Krone is misunderstood about the people outside."

"What do you mean, what could she gain from lying to us? Gilda asks.

"No, I didn't say she lied, I said she misunderstands," Spencer told her, the other still had a confused look on their faces. Breathing again, Spencer starts to explain. "Look, if we assume this all started in 2015, then that means the demons and outside humans met each other and made an agreement in a short time for Mama to grow up on a farm. Do you think that if human eating Demons came to earth, they would not instantly start to slaughter everyone? or humans see them and start to exterminate them? Mama was born in 2014 and was raised on a farm, presumingly with other kids. What kind of parent would allow their children to get eaten like this?" Spencer asks rhetorically. The other three eleven-year-olds start to piece together what Spencer was saying.

"If there is a human society out there, they would have to be oblivious to demons and the farm. Otherwise, there would be chaos over this," Norman concludes, seeing what Spencer was saying.

"They are still supplying us with things, new things, if this started in 2015, it would have to be overly covert, and there would still be leaks of information to the public," Ray speculated.

"Yes, however, if we assume it's been like this for longer, then it makes sense. A select group of humans outside know about us and don't care. They send supplies to us and have conditioned to not reveal the secret. I'm guessing the demons are superior to humans in things such as strength and speed. Here's my theory, humans and demons made a deal, the demons get children who are farmed to perfection, and in return, they don't slaughter everyone." Spencer theorized.

"But if they have been here for a long time, why don't the history book say anything about it?" Don asked.

"Do you think they would allow those kinds of books in here? No, they must get a specialty book that leaves that part out." Ray tells him

"Guys that's enough. We don't need to know this, sure, it would be nice, but it's not part of our plan to escape. Right now, we need to sleep. Let's go," Emma stops the conversation, knowing it's getting them nowhere.

"Yeah I guess," Spencer says, still thinking his idea had merit. 'I must be missing something,' he thought. The six children left the library to go to sleep.

The next morning.

The six children went to the water pump to discuss the next day's plan. After what Emma and Spencer told them about Krone last night, they had to slightly manipulate their goals.

Ray began the conversation by giving a rundown on the plan to see beyond the wall. "We have six days until we escape. The next step is to see beyond the wall, which we will do tomorrow. So here's the plan, after lunch, during free time, I will distract Mama. Spencer and Emma will climb the wall and see what's beyond, Norman will be stationed in the forest between the house and the wall, Don and Gilda will stay outside with the other kids. There is a chance that Mama finds out what our plan is, given she is suspicious of me already. if she finds out, I will signal Don and Gilda, who will signal Norman who will signal Spencer and Emma." Ray explained.

"Once Spencer and Emma get Norman's signal, they will stop the investigation?" Don asked.

"Correct, for the time being anyway. Mama will keep our shipments on schedule if possible, especially the four of us top scorers. Us escaping is not something she will accept, so we have to be careful and make sure she misses us. The next shipment is scheduled for next month, but we can't procrastinate. We must pretend to be under her control," Ray told the six of them as they filled buckets with the clean water to wash the clothing.

"After we do our chores, we can train some more, and then get the finer details of tomorrow sorted out," Spencer says, getting to work.

Later that day, Spencer was walking to Norman's Room to pick up the 'Promise' book. He had read the 'Esper' Book and given it to Emma, and Norman had read through the 'Promise' book a couple times already and taken notes. Norman had said he got everything he needed from it and told him to read it next.

As Spencer walked up the stairs, he heard Mama talking with Sister Krone. Trying to stay out of sight, he ducked down and listened intently.

"Number 18684 AKA Sister Krone, you have been appointed the position of Mama of plantation 4 under orders from Grandma," Krone said out loud. Spencer assumed she was reading something like a letter.

'Grandma? Is that the one who runs the plantations and their Mama's' Spencer questioned.

"I'm… a Mama now?" Krone asked in shock.

"Yes, it is unfortunate to have you leave, but that's how things go," Mama replied in obviously fake sadness. "The previous Mama had to step down due to some… unfortunate circumstances, and because of the letter of recommendation I sent them, you were one of the candidates they chose." Mama explained. "Grandma is waiting at the gate. I recommend you pack your belongings and hurry over." She told Krone.

'Krones silence and lack of excitement are telling me she is anxious or scared. Why? Is the letter fake? No, if it was she'd call Mama out on it, maybe it's something else on the letter she didn't read that's making her scared.' Spencer thought, trying to think what is happening to Krone.

"Goodbye Krone, I wish you luck as a new Mama," Mama said to Krone in an overly sweet manner.

'I better leave before they notice, I'll go hide near the gate and see if I can learn anything about Grandma,' Spencer thought, tip-toeing down the stairs to the back door.

Moving through the forest as quietly as possible, Spencer continued to speculate what was happening to Krone.

'Is it a trap? Did Mama find out about the deal? If Krone tells this Grandma the deal, we are all good as dead,' Spencer thought as he approached the gate. The gates doors were open, but the angle he was at made it impossible for him to see that deep in.

Suddenly he saw Krone walking up to the gate, slowly and somewhat hesitantly. As she entered, the gate closed behind her.

Moving to the wall next to the gate, Spencer attempted to hear the conversation.

"Grandma… I have some important evidence you need to see," Krone said in a stern tone.

'Is she gonna tell on us!' Spencer panicked.

"Umm, let me see…" an elderly woman said. "So you're telling me, the full scores knows the truth and are planning an escape?" she asked.

'Shit! She did rat us out!' Spencer, thought, both panicked and angered.

"Yes! Along with two other high scoring children! I don't have any hard evidence, but please believe me! Mama Isabella knows about the children and is doing nothing about it! We need to move soon or-" "But everything is under control, right?" Krone told Grandma before the elder cut her off

'What?' Spencer questioned in his head.

"Huh?" Krone questioned, confused.

"As long as the situation is under control, we have nothing to worry about, I'm sure if I handled it in the past, she could do the same." Grandma said.

'Should I get closer? While seeing Grandma is not necessary, maybe actually seething the demons or how the situation goes will give me an edge," Spencer thought.

He started to shuffle closer to the gate. Inch by inch, not making a sound, he had one last thought of questioning his action.

As he slowly moved his head, he was suddenly bombarded with a painful headache and a vision of his own corpse, a flower protruding from his chest.

Stepping back, he clutched his head, trying to make sense of it. Before he could think anymore, Grandma started talking again.

"Sister Krone, I'm sorry, darling, but I can't let you get in the way of Isabella or me. They are special, you see, both Isabella and the plantation, she has produced some of the best offerings to the Tifari in history." She said in a false Grandmotherly tone.

'Tifari? Is that what the demons are called?" Spencer questioned, his head still pounding.

"I need Isabella as my pawn, and you do not have anywhere near the same abilities as her." Grandma said as she walked. Spencer couldn't tell if it was closer to Krone or walking away. He did hear an inaudible whisper coming from Grandma.

"Hehehe. HAHAHA!" Krone started to laugh as huge thuds approached her.

'They… they're going to kill her. I've got to get out of here! If they find out I heard this…" Spencer thought as he quietly walked along the wall into the forest.

'I've got to tell the others! With Krone gone, we lost a valuable source of information, and with her out of the way, Mama has nothing in her way.' he thought as he started to run back home. 'It's almost dinner, I need to be there, or Mama will get suspicious.'

As Spencer walked into the house, he saw children running to the dining room. Blending into the crowd, he went into his seat and started dinner with the others.

After eating, the six eldest walked to the library for their nightly meeting.

"Krone is gone," Spencer said bluntly.

"What?!" Emma questioned.

"What do you mean? She didn't go to dinner, but that doesn't mean she left," Ray said.

"No, she's dead," Spencer told them, shocking everyone. "Earlier today, when I was going to get Norman's book, I heard Sister Krone and Mama talking. Krone got a letter saying she was appointed Mama of plantation four by 'Grandma,'" Spencer said to the others.

"Grandma? Who's that?" Gilda asked.

"Grandma is the one who leads the Mama's of the plantations. That's all Mama told me." Ray tells her.

"Yea, Krone seemed scared while talking with Mama, and Mama sounded like it was a final goodbye despite the Mama's of each farm most likely know each other. Mama said that Grandma was waiting at the gate, so I decided to investigate." Spencer told them.

"Are you stupid?! If they found you there, you would be screwed!" Ray barked.

"I know, I was cautious. When I went there, I heard Krone rat us out, telling Grandma that we planned to escape," Spencer said, causing much of the group to get angry or scared, and in the case of Norman, both.

"That bitch!" Don yelled out, punching the table.

"Don't worry, Grandma must have a lot of trust in Mama. She said as long as things were under control, there was nothing to worry about. Calling Mama her pawn and saying she needed her. After that, I heard something large approaching Krone, I assume it was a demon, or what Grandma called them, the Tifari."

"Meaning she is most likely dead…" Norman concluded.

"So, what does that mean? If she is gone, that's one thing we don't have to worry about anymore, so isn't this a good thing?" Gilda asks.

"While yes, she isn't an obstacle anymore, it also means we lost a valuable source of information, and while she was an adult working for the demons, she was still a child of Grace field, like us," Emma said sadly.

"We need to move fast. Tomorrow is when we go to the wall and see what's outside. We all know our roles, so let's do this. For every child hear, let's escape!" Norman says, trying to inspire the group.

"Right!" the other five yell out.

The next morning.

"All that's left is this last piece of investigation. Once that is done, all we have to do is get the kids, destroy the trackers, and escape. Get into your positions, Let's do this!" Spencer tells the group.

Spencer and Emma run out to the forest with Norman not far behind, who stops at the tree line. Don and Gilda keep watch outside the house, playing with the younger kids, and Ray goes in to distract Mama.

As Emma and Spencer ran, they passed by the tree, holding all their ropes. Emma jumps up and grabs it, not stopping her momentum. They have to do this as fast as possible.

Meanwhile, Ray and Mama were on their way to the drugs that the others hid earlier to switch them out. Ray told Mama the others were planning to poison her when they escape, so the two of them would switch them with something harmless. As they enter the bathroom where they hid them, Mama spoke up.

"I eliminated Sister Krone," She told the boy.

Giving a fake look of shock, he replies. "I thought something was up when she didn't come to dinner,"

"Yes, she was of no more use to me. Much like how I have no more use for you, our deal ends here." Mama told Ray, causing real shock to appear on his face.

"Wha, What! Why don't you need me?! I'm still useful! After all the manipulation I did!" Ray started to panic. If the deal was over, then the agreement for the others to stay till twelve was over too.

"Yes, you've been a good little dog and have made my job much easier, but I have little use for an unloyal Dog," Mama said menacingly.

"I can do my job of containing the cattle on my own now. I am truly sorry for what I'm about to do, Ray, really," She said, closing and locking the bathroom from the outside with her master key.

Taking out her tracker, she sees the moving targets. "So two of them are headed for the wall while one stays at the tree line to intercept me. I guess I'll go around, so no one notices. Bye-bye Ray, I truly thank you for all your work until today." Mama says, walking down the hallway.

"Damnit!" Ray yells out, kicking the door in the hopes of busting it open.

'I can't signal Don or Gilda from here! And if she goes around Norman, he can't notify Spencer or Emma! Think, Ray, Think!' Ray thought, trying to find a way of escape.

After a few minutes of banging, Don comes up and helps by pulling the door while Ray kicks it. After explaining the situation, Don and Ray run outside as fast as they can.

As Spencer and Emma arrived at the fence, they heard something rustling in the bushes behind them. Turning around, the two eleven-year-olds see what could only be described as their worst possible fear, Mama.

Quickly putting the ropes behind her back, Emma smiles as does Spencer, quickly acting like nothing was wrong.

"Ten years, for ten years, I've raised you, and I guess this is the first time we are speaking without any acting… It's nice to meet you, Emma, Spencer," Mama greeted the two, who looked confused at the greeting.

"What's wrong, children? You don't have to fake it anymore, I'm being me right now, so you shouldn't act like good little children anymore. After all, at this moment, our relationship is nothing more than a farmer and her cattle."

Both Emma and Spencer kept silent, their smiles gone.

"You know, I truly love all of you. Everyone who has lived in that house I love as my own child, and that's why I don't want you to suffer, and why I want you to give up."

"Give up what?" Spencer asked.

"Resistance… I love you all so much, that's why I became a Mama. You have to agree, the ignorance of Grace fields true nature gave you all happiness, where you don't know of cold or hunger. When you die, it would be one with no knowledge of pain or suffering. Outside is dangerous, so please, come back to the house, and live the rest of your lives in happiness." Mama tells them, outstretching her hand.

Throughout Mama's monologue, Emma knew she wouldn't listen to her. She was going to live, along with everyone else. Spencer knew that Emma wouldn't give up. Looking at each other, Emma and Spencer gave each other a nod.

"Okay Mama," Spencer said with a smile. "We will stop being good kids now."

After he finished saying that, Emma threw the bag of ropes to him and sprinted towards Mama. Spencer caught the bag and ran towards the fence, hopping over it.

Just as he got on the other side of the fence, he heard a sickening crack. Looking behind him, he saw Emma and the ground under Mama, who was holding Emma's leg at an unnatural angle.

For a moment, time stood still, Spencer just looked at Emma, who stopped moving, suddenly she cried out in pain. "There there, it's okay," Mama said, hugging Emma. "It doesn't hurt, right, my precious Emma? I never thought I'd miss being this close to you." taking out a piece of cloth and two sticks, she makes a make-shift splint for Emma.

Spencer gets out of his stupor and is overcome with rage at Mama and worry for Emma, "EMMA!" Spencer yelled, dropping the bag and rushing to Emma and Mama.

Mama got up and grabbed Spencer's arm, twisting it behind him before tripping him to the ground.

"Now now Spencer, there is no need to be so hostile, I am simply doing my job of holding you back. You four are the highest quality product I have ever raised, and I will do anything to protect you. I have to make sure everything is perfect for tomorrow." Mama said, holding the squirming boy.

"To-Tomorrow?" Emma asks in a shaky tone.

"Yes, that's right! good thing I remembered this before taking you down, Spencer, I wouldn't want one of the shipments to be anything less than perfect." She said.

The two children stopped everything, they both knew what that meant, but Spencer was caught off guard by something.

"Wait… one of?" he asked, still filled with fear.

"Yes. Oh good, you're all here," She says, looking at Norman, Ray, Gilda, and Don running over.

"Spencer, Norman, congratulations! You are both getting shipped out tomorrow!" Mama says with excitement
