SBI Hunters is the only one of these drabble dumps that actually has another fic attached to it - I did a proper oneshot for it a while back. It's on my profile under the title "Entry One: Haunted"

Sbi Hunters is a ghosthunter AU set in a universe where people dealing with the paranormal are called Hunters and are part of an official organization simply nicknamed 'the federation'. The paranormal can be ghosts (people who have died) but also entities (creatures from the beyond that were never human to begin with, demons and stuff)

Side note: entities do not have binary genders. They usually go by it/its or they/them depending on personal preference though some - such as lady death - have been known to take on other pronouns or gendered titles as well. Fundy uses he/they.

Main characters

Philza - Human - Has been a Hunter since young adulthood though he doesn't always follow federation protocol. Might or might not have gotten involved in some illegal necromancy as a young lad and ended up soul bonded to Death herself. Father to Wilbur.

Wilbur - Amalgam (part human, part entity) - Grew up in isolation because Phil was scared he couldn't control his powers. Things he touches tend to die or decay a lot. He's the one that got Techno and Tommy involved in the group once he befriended them. Father to Fundy.

Techno - Human empath - As an empath he has a natural gift at interacting with the paranormal, though an unfortunate side effect is that he attracts dangerous entities too. Can see and speak to all ghosts and entities. They used to be able to possess him, but Phil has taught him how to prevent that from happening (mostly).

Tommy - Human - A normal teen except he accidentally summoned an entity named Tubbo when he was a child because of his own loneliness. Used to think Tubbo was an imaginary friend for the longest time. His parents don't like him being involved in the whole Hunter business. Both the heart and the baby of the group!

Side characters

Tubbo - Entity (they/them) - entity of trickery. They can shapeshift and their appearance changes depending on Tommy's perceptions of them. Tommy's childhood friend. They're a little feral plus extremely protective of Tommy and later on very protective of the rest of the sbi as well.

Fundy - Amalgam - Looks and acts like a 5-year-old despite only being 'created' very recently. Was an accident, but Wilbur is doing his best. They need to wear mittens at all times because they have the same powers as Wilbur and can't control them yet.

Ranboo - Entity (it/its) - entity of void. Its presence will make you forget things and messes up your memories. It's soul bonded to Tubbo and they have an adopted child together. It doesn't spend nearly as much time in the human plane because it's an anxious mess, but it does know and sometimes interacts with the sbi.

Skeppy & Bad - Human and Entity (they/them) respectively - Skeppy is Techno's childhood (best) friend. They used to be very close but Techno was scared something paranormal was gonna hurt Skeppy so he keeps his distance now. Little does he know Skeppy is all in that and he summoned his own mirror entity named Bad. Mirror entities are automatically soul bonded to their other half.

Sam & Ponk - Both humans, Sam is also an empath - ex-husbands, they both work at the federation. Sam does not like Phil much for not following the rules. Ponk lost his arm in a paranormal incident that Sam was involved in as well.

Dream - Entity (it/its) - entity of control. Used to be one of the most powerful entities in existence until Sam sealed it away and now it can only interact with the physical world through empaths. It mostly hangs around Techno and has proclaimed itself Techno's rival, much to Techno's annoyance.

Niki - Entity (they/them) - entity of vengeance. Wilbur's childhood friend, they were his only friend for a long while too. Older than the average entity. Very nice but will kick you in the teeth if you're mean to their friends!

1. Techno before meeting sbi

There is blood on his hands and he doesn't remember how it got there.

Technoblade gets up from the couch, stumbling blindly into the cramped kitchen space his landlord claimed was 'small but very practical' when he was signing the lease. In reality, that means he only has enough counter space to fit his coffee maker, but that is all he needs really.

He pours a cup and downs it in one go, only frowning slightly at the bitter taste. The coffee is cold too since it's from yesterday morning. Maybe it would succeed in keeping him awake this time.

It has been a while since he lost a whole day, never mind more than that. Technoblade thought he was getting better. Clearly he was wrong.

He checks his phone, scrolling through missed messages. Most of them are from Skeppy, asking where he is and how he's doing. Asking if he's having an episode again. Checking if Technoblade is still taking his very real, definitely not made-up meds which are supposed to help with those very real, definitely not made-up episodes.

A quick text gets shot back, to tell Skeppy he's just busy with school stuff. It only takes a few minutes for him to get a reply, but Techno doesn't bother reading it. He's already limping his way into the bathroom.

Turning the faucet, Technoblade holds his hands underneath the lukewarm stream of water and scrubs at his skin with his fingers. Dried clots of blood take some prying before they loosen from beneath his nails. The sleeves of his hoodie are stained up to the elbows so he peels it off, hissing when the action reveals the deep gauges hidden beneath.

He'd have more sympathy for these creatures possessing him if they had a little respect for the well-being of their temporary host while doing so. It's like they don't even care that once they are done it would go back to being his body.

When he is done cleaning up he returns to the kitchen, getting the first aid kit from the hallway closet. He is running low on bandages again, making a mental note to get more at some point. Knowing how his brain works, he will probably forget.

A few minutes later the wounds have been dealt with, leaving only a stinging pain to remind Techno of their presence. He just put the kit away again when his phone starts vibrating on the counter.

Techno ignores it.

He's selfish like that. Skeppy is just worried. And Techno doesn't want to talk to him. Doesn't want to go through his whole routine of lying about how fine he is. Doesn't want to come up with excuses on why they can't meet up or hang out.

Doesn't want to hear the disappointment in Skeppy's voice because he can tell Techno is keeping him at a distance once again, without being able to tell him it's for his own safety.

Everybody he cares about gets hurt. And Techno decided ages ago when Skeppy grabbed his wrist and pulled him from the ground and told him not to mind - that the older kids always bully the new arrivals but they could be friends instead - Skeppy deserved better than that.

Deserves better than him.

He's already exhausted again.

He lies back down on the couch and closes his eyes even though it's only noon. If he's lucky, he'll wake up in his own body with no lost hours this time.

2. Techno & Wilbur hug

Against all odds, Technoblade is the one who initiates their first hug.

Maybe Wilbur has been sending blatant non-verbal 'please I'm so touch starved I'm going to combust' signs without knowing it since the start of their friendship. It wouldn't exactly surprise him. He hasn't touched another person aside from his father in years.

And Technoblade is staring at him, head slightly tilted, frown turning the corners of his lips down as it always does. The dark bags underneath his eyes are that much worse from this angle, that much more pronounced when Wilbur is looking down on him.

"C'mere." Techno holds one arm out, a half-hearted gesture. Wilbur doesn't move a muscle. "You won't hurt me, promise."

"You don't know that."

Wilbur thinks of a child so pale and cold, cradled still in his arms while he sobbed for his dad to help. They had just been playing - just been messing around. He had touched them and their eyes had closed, Wilbur had drained the life out of them without meaning too.

His mother loved him, but her gifts did not come gently.

"I do," Techno said. "I'm sure. Now sit down cause I'm not asking twice."

Wilbur hesitates for another second then leans in ever so slowly, breath shallow. Techno grabs his shoulder and pulls him the rest of the way, wraps that arm around his neck and oh-

It's weird how warm Techno is for a guy with such shit circulation. Wilbur finds himself returning the hug on instinct more than anything, pulling Techno closer against him. Techno lets out a little oomf sound when Wilbur smothers him into his chest, buries his nose into the crown of his head.

Techno's hair smells of the dye they picked out just two days ago, when they went to Techno's apartment and Wilbur sat and watched him apply the soft pink to long strands.

"People won't think we're twins anymore," Wilbur had said, somewhere between humor and disappointment.

"Good," Technoblade shot back, grinning.

Maybe he wants things to stay like this forever.

Techno pats his back awkwardly a few times, then follows it up with a harder hit when Wilbur squeezes him a little too tightly. "Can't breath, nerd."

Wilbur lets go regretfully, but Techno pulls back only enough to straighten. His arm lingers.

"Told you so," he says teasingly. "I didn't even die."

"Yeah," Wilbur says, curling his fingers around the emptiness. It hums back at him, hollow and unfulfilled. Then he sits back to rest his head on Techno's shoulder.

They don't leave until the sun has already set.

3. Tubbo and Techno talk

"I know what you are."

The demon stares at him from the tree branch they're perching on, tilting their head to the side a little. Technoblade stares right back.

"Do you now?" They smile, teeth sharp and pointed. Eyes glowing nuclear yellow beneath the darkness of their bangs. They're not trying to conceal their true nature any longer. "And what are you going to do about it?"

Technoblade huffs out a half-laugh, shoving his hands into his hoodie pockets. "Nothing."

"Nothing?"

"Nothing, zilch, nada,… Need I go on?"

"Nah, I gotcha big man." And with that Tubbo leans back, falling off the branch and landing on their feet in front of Techno. They're so much smaller than him it's almost comical, but Techno knows better than to let that fool him. "Honestly I was expecting something different."

He shrugs. "Like what?"

"I dunno, isn't this the part where you tell me to stay away from your little brother or whatever?"

"He's not my brother," Techno answers immediately. "Besides, Tommy likes you. And I'm pretty sure you like Tommy, otherwise you'd have ripped his heart out ages ago. Entities aren't exactly known for their patience and Tommy knows how to get on people's nerves."

"I do," Tubbo says. "I do like him." He grins but it's not what it was before. His irises have melted back to a honeyed brown, peeking from between his curly hair. There are no more antler-reminiscent horns casting shadows on the pavement.

"Statistically I suppose somebody has to," Technoblade deadpans, making the other laugh in a way that almost feels fitting for the age they're pretending to be.

"So we're cool?" Tubbo asks, clapping him on the back.

"I uh, guess we're cool, yeah." Techno unclenches his fist. Phil told him to stop being on guard all the time. He's trying. "You need to tell him though."

Tubbo's face falls. "Tommy already knows."

"No, he knows what you are. You need to tell him what you are."

"I uh- I don't-"

"It's only fair, Tubbo."

And for a quick second, there is real uncertainty in their expression. "I want to, really. But I just… What if he doesn't want me around anymore, man?"

"Have you met Wilbur?" Techno's shoulders relax. "Have you met me? Tommy's not gonna make a big deal out of it and you know it."

"Yeah, yeah. I'm holding you to that," Tubbo answers pointedly. They reach out their hand for Techno to shake.

He doesn't take it.

"Worth a shot." They throw both hands up instead, disarming. "Seriously though, I will tell him. Thanks."

"Don't mention it."

When Techno next blinks, they're already gone.
