"This can't be all you have!"

The two pages of information, really one and a half, floated down in between Serizawa and Admiral Stenz as Doctor Graham stood quietly in the back of the room.

"If this is some kind of joke, Doctor. It's not funny!" Stenz growled.

"It is no joke, Admiral. This is all the information we have on Gojira and the MUTO as of this moment."

"Godzilla is an amphibious bipedal reptilian with the capacity to concentrate a beam of pure radiation at ultra-high temperatures from his mouth. And the MUTO is some form of parasite which fed on another of his species thousands of years ago… That's really all you have? And you stretched it out into a page and a half."

"I included more information about MONARCH as well."

"Yes, yes. The bit about your father being one of the founders and you growing up following in his footsteps wanting to study Godzilla and prove that the Titans, or at least some of them, can live in harmony with humans. I got that."

"But did you read the part about how MONARCH has proven that-"

"That Godzilla has never deliberately attacked any vessels or populated locations. Yes. I got that too. The point, Doctor Serizawa, is that I got all that from just watching the battle and listening to you preach about him on the Bridge earlier. You've given me nothing truly new or even useful to go off of on how we can proceed from here!"

"I'm sorry Admiral. But this is all we know so far."

"A multi-billion dollar shadow organization studying the Titans for over sixty years, and this is all you have? If I may be blunt, Doctor, that's pathetic."

"Gojira has proven to be highly elusive, Admiral. Studying him has been almost impossible."

"How so?"

"Every time we've tried to track Gojira in the past, he disappears after reaching a certain point near the center of the Mariana Trench. If he were just resting there, we would still see him on thermal satellite imagery. And our deep-water audio recording devices stop picking up his vocalizations. It's as if he just disappears."

"Equipment failure?"

"No. The equipment picks up everything else except him."

"You could have included this in your report, Doctor."

"I did. It was in the last paragraph on the second page."

Stenz glanced at the page in question on the floor and cleared his throat.

"All the same, Doctor, this is unacceptable. The United States Military and Navy are all on red alert now for the next time one of these monsters makes landfall."

"Titans, if you please."

"Excuse me?"

"I don't like the word "monster." They're very large animals which we have scientifically classified as Titans. I would prefer you use that term to refer to them, please."

"I don't really see the difference between "monster" and "Titan." But fine. If one of these Titans makes landfall, we'll have no choice but to respond using any means necessary to keep them away from populated areas. The more we know about them, the better. And if these two flimsy pages were really all MONARCH has on Godzilla and the MUTO, then it's about high time this operation fell under military jurisdiction instead of MONARCH jurisdiction. And you can bet I'll be making a few calls to make it so."

Serizawa took a deep breath and sighed through his nose.

"I'm waiting for a call from the President. So if you'll excuse me, Doctor?"

Serizawa nodded, and both he and Graham left the room closing the door quietly on their way out.

"Was that really all, Sensei?" Graham whispered as they began walking the halls.

"All that I had which has been officially documented, yes."

""Officially?""

"Yes."

"So what's unofficial?"

"Anything I don't write down." He said with a smile.

Graham smiled back.

"You almost never write things down, Sensei."

"Exactly." Serizawa chuckled.

The pair came to a stop as they rounded the corner.

"What is it Sensei?"

"The man from Janjira. What was his name again?"

"I believe his name was Joe Brody."

"Yes. He knew about the MUTO and the events from fifteen years ago. Do we know where he is?"

"I believe he was brought on board just last night after the battle. He and his son were trying to return home to San Francisco."

"I need to speak with them. Please ask them to meet me in the Briefing Room as soon as possible."

"Yes, Sensei."

Doctor Graham departed as Serizawa made his way to the Briefing Room and began preparing something on his laptop. Twenty minutes later, the Brody's were present. Joe had a brand new wheel chair with Ford wearing a sling on his right arm.

"Gentlemen. It's good to see you both safe." Serizawa said as he stood from his seat.

"Doctor Serizawa." Joe replied with a nod of his head.

Serizawa returned the nod, and turned on the projector in the middle of the table.

"Please look at this." He said quietly.

Suddenly, a hazy picture of Godzilla during the morning of the Shinomura battle was displayed on the screen.

"You've already seen Gojira. But this creature was known as the Shinomura."

"Swarm of death." Joe whispered.

"Yes."

"Why are you showing us this?" Ford asked.

Doctor Graham walked around and sat at the side of the table.

"We want you to see what else is out there. It's not just Godzilla and the MUTO's. There are over a dozen such super species throughout the world which our organization has been studying. We've managed to create containment facilities around most of them since they're still in a state of hibernation or suspended animation. But now that Godzilla and the MUTO's are free, there's no telling how long that will last." She said.

"Why's that?" Ford asked.

"Because Gojira is an Alpha species. And when an Alpha calls, those subject to its supremacy respond." Serizawa replied.

"So this Godzilla," Joe said while pointing to the image, "He's what? Bad?"

"No, mister Brody. Just the opposite." Serizawa said with a nod.

"We believe Godzilla is a passive species. One content to live beneath the sea unless provoked or drawn out by the activity of other dangerous species like the MUTO's." Graham added.

"But these MUTO creatures aren't so passive, are they?" Joe asked.

"We don't believe so. No." She said.

"The MUTO is new to MONARCH. The first of its kind to be discovered. We've done our best to analyze all of the footage from the Janjira incident and the battle with Gojira to ascertain its temperament and assess whether or not it's a threat. But so far we've come up with very little." Serizawa replied.

"It sure doesn't seem passive." Ford said firmly.

"Ford." Joe said with a pat to his son's shoulder. "Don't judge so early. It's just an animal. Remember that."

Serizawa smiled with a small nod, along with Doctor Graham.

"So this MUTO. Where's it headed?" Joe asked.

"To the United States' West Coast. At the moment we don't know exactly where. But San Francisco seems likely."

Ford stood up.

"My wife and son are in San Francisco."

"Ford." Joe said again, tapping Ford's arm.

"I know, dad. I'm just saying… They're there. If that thing's on the way then I need to either get home to them or get in touch with them right now and tell them to go somewhere else."

"We will, son. I promise. But we need more solid information first." Joe said.

Ford huffed a breath and sat down heavily.

"Doctors. What else do you know about Godzilla? What was that beam he fired from his mouth?" Joe asked.

"It's a concentrated stream of radiation. We're still trying to determine exactly how he does it. But it seems likely there's a bio-electric element at play given that the MUTO's EMP attack shut it down temporarily." Graham said.

"Concentrated radiation… You're serious?" Joe asked.

Both Doctors nodded.

"Oh my God…" Joe whispered.

"What?" Ford asked.

"If that stream is made of concentrated radiation, it's going to generate two things. One, a lot of heat. Two, it'll leave behind a lot of radiation on whatever it doesn't destroy outright." Joe replied.

"So the areas of the city and all the rocks and stuff from the fight. They're radioactive now?" Ford asked.

Joe nodded. "Highly radioactive."

"Mister Brody. You were a Nuclear Engineer, correct?" Doctor Graham asked.

"Yeah."

"What can you tell us about Godzilla's breath given we at least know it's a concentrated stream of radiation? Anything that would help us understand Godzilla that much more is something we desperately need right now." She continued.

Joe ran a hand through his hair.

"It's complicated. But I'll summarize as best I can."

Serizawa took a seat and interlaced his hands as he locked eyes with Joe.

"If that blast was concentrated radiation, then it's far more dangerous than I'd initially thought. And the reason I believe this is because of the color."

"You mean that blue light emitted from it, correct?" Doctor Graham asked.

"Yes. During an atomic blast, subatomic particles and electromagnetic waves ionize or destabilize the molecular and atomic structure of atoms and molecules in the blast's vicinity. When Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Argon, three of the most common elements in our atmosphere, are subjected to high concentrations of radiation and thus become ionized, they generate photons of light in… Guess what color?"

"Blue." Serizawa replied calmly.

Joe nodded.

"That's not just a stream of radiation he's generating. It's ionizing radiation. Long story short, that beam is so highly radioactive that it's literally ionizing the air and atmosphere around the central shaft of the beam in real time as it's being released from his body. Even the traces of oxygen and nitrogen inside Godzilla's body are being ionized which is why we saw his plates and eyes light up. But if he's unaffected by that process, then that can only mean that his body functions in a manner similar to a nuclear reactor to focus or at least protect him from the negative aftereffects generated by the process."

Joe leaned back in his wheel chair.

"To give you an idea of how dangerous that beam is… Anywhere it hits would be uninhabitable for potentially thousands of years because of how radioactive that breath is thanks to the presence of that blue light." Joe concluded.

"So the island then…" Doctor Graham said softly.

"Anywhere Godzilla's breath went needs to be closed to the public until the levels of radiation have been measured and the danger level properly assessed. But I would do so from a distance if I were you." Joe said in a somber tone.

"Vivian. Please relay that information to the Admiral at once." Serizawa ordered.

"Yes, Sensei."

Following Doctor Graham's departure, Serizawa stood from his chair.

"Mister Brody. We know the MUTO feeds on radiation just like Gojira. We saw Gojira's beam strike it directly. But even so it didn't seem to grow any stronger or suffer any potentially negative consequences. Do you have any thoughts on that?"

"Well, I'm not exactly a biologist. But my guess would be that if the MUTO feeds on radiation and didn't grow stronger from the breath, then it's possible that its body is only evolved to process radiation that passes through some sort of specialized digestive tract."

"I see…"

"Something wrong, Doctor?"

Serizawa shook his head slowly.

"I don't like to think about it. But if Gojira cannot defeat the MUTO, and if he falls… Then the MUTO would have all the sustenance it needs. And I dare not think about what that means for humanity."

Joe nodded as the realization slowly dawned on him what the Doctor was implying.

"Gentlemen. If you need to get back to San Francisco, please accompany me to the deck. I'll make sure that you're loaded on the first available private jet we can get a hold of."

"Thanks Doc. I doubt there are many planes left on the island after last night."

Serizawa nodded. And following the brief exchange of well wishes, Ford and Joe boarded a single private jet bound for San Francisco bidding farewell to Serizawa and the USS Saratoga.
