The door to Serizawa's quarters burst open and slammed the wall.

"Sensei! I just-"

"I know, Vivian. She's awake."

"What are we going to do, Sensei?"

"There's nothing we can do right now. But I have no doubt the male will seek her out."

"What happens if they…"

Serizawa shook his head, and Doctor Graham's head hung a bit lower.

"Will Godzilla be okay, Sensei?"

A subtle nod with tight lips was her reply.

"How do you know?"

Serizawa met her gaze.

"Nature has an order. A power to restore balance."

Serizawa turned his head and looked at a copy of the photo of Godzilla battling the Shinomura on his dresser.

"I believe he is that power."

Ahead of the Saratoga and beneath the waves, Godzilla's eyes flashed blue. A trail of blue light struck one spine after the other down his back and through his tail illuminating the waters around him.

"What was that?!" Admiral Stenz demanded.

"Unknown, sir. It's the first time he's done that since leaving Hawaii." Replied Captain Hampton.

"Get Serizawa up here!" Stenz ordered.

However, Godzilla's spines slowly rose out of the water before lurching downwards and disappearing. A massive roll in the waves appeared forcing all ships to bank hard towards him to avoid being capsized. And as the waters stilled, sonar indicated Godzilla gaining distance.

"We're doing approximately 80 knots and he's pulling away, sir! He'll be out of sonar range in less than a minute!" One sailor called.

"How does something so big move so fast?" Asked another sailor.

"How does it not move that fast when it wants to. The thing's walking step probably covers a few blocks." Replied another.

"Quiet on the Bridge!" Stenz ordered.

"Yessir!" Came a unified response.

"Get me Serizawa." He ordered again.

"Yessir." Captain Hampton replied.

Two minutes later Serizawa was on the bridge.

"We lost him, Doctor. But before we did his spines emitted that blue light from when he used his breath. Any idea what it means?" Stenz asked.

"I believe Gojira has sensed the awakening of the female MUTO in Nevada and-"

"Wait, wait, wait. What?! Another MUTO?" Stenz demanded.

"Yes. I received a call about it minutes before you called me up here."

"Where did this one come from?!"

Doctor Graham cleared her throat.

"We found two spores in the skeletal remains of the Philippine Mine. The flying MUTO, which we believe to be the male of the species, hatched from one of them and caused the Janjira Nuclear Power Plant incident fifteen years ago. We tested the other spore and found it was dormant. But it looks like-"

"Looks like the damn thing woke up so now we have three major problems to deal with. What else can go wrong today?!" Stenz demanded.

"The male will likely seek out the female. If you can track her, you should be able to predict where the two will meet." Serizawa said.

"We have it, sir!" A sailor called.

"Where is it?!"

"It just reached California, sir. It's heading right for the coast. All scans indicate it's heading for San Francisco."

"And the flying one?"

"Same, sir. Looks like that's our convergence point."

"We need to start evacuating that city immediately!"

"Already on it, sir!"

"Good."

Stenz turned to the Doctors.

"As for you two, I want you both on the mainland as soon as possible. We're close enough that one of our choppers can get you there ahead of Godzilla. When you arrive, our ground troops will get you where we need you. Stay there and wait for me. Understood?"

Both gave him a nod and left the Bridge.

"Sensei, what do you make of this?"

"I think he doesn't want us to know what his plans are for how the military will deal with the MUTO's and Gojira."

"What do you think he'll do?"

"I dare not guess."

"You don't think he'd try and use nuclear force, do you?"

Serizawa didn't reply.

"Oh God."

This time, he nodded.

"But he has the briefing about the Castle Bravo incident and how it didn't affect Godzilla. Right?"

Again, a nod.

"And you made sure in those two pages to include that the MUTOs feed on radiation just like he does, right? If he nukes the city then the MUTOs can literally feed on anything once it's become radioactive!"

Another nod.

She sighed, and asked what they could do.

"There's nothing we can do. The military has taken charge of the operation from MONARCH. And the Admiral is too stubborn to listen to us."

"So then… What next?"

"We must put our faith in Gojira. If he can defeat the MUTOs and return to the sea before the Admiral gives the order for a nuclear strike, then everything should be fine."

"But he's still hours away from San Francisco. And the MUTO's are closing in on the convergence point. I think the monitor said they're only 20 minutes from meeting."

"Gojira out sped their sonar readings. I believe he's much closer to San Francisco than initially projected."

"But even so is he going to make it in time?"

"He must."

Entering his quarters, Serizawa pulled out his phone and fiddled with the "Contact" list before pressing the "Call" button.

Ring. Ring. Ring… Ring. Ring. Ring…

"This is Joe Brody."

"Mister Brody. This is Doctor Serizawa."

"Oh, hello Doctor. What is it?"

"Do you remember the information I shared with you about the two spores from the Philippine Mine?"

"Yes. You said there were two. One inert, the other became the one that… That destroyed the Janjira Plant."

"Correct. That second spore is no longer inert. It's hatched, and it's a female."

"Wait, what?!"

"I'm afraid so, mister Brody. The flying one I believe is male. And the two are now converging on San Francisco."

"Oh my God… How long?"

"Twenty minutes. Perhaps less. Your son said his wife and son are there, correct?"

"Yeah. I'll call them immediately."

"Take care and exercise caution, mister Brody. If they're using EMP fields the phones in their area may not work."

"Oh… Thanks for the warning Doctor. Gotta go."

Click.

"What was that about?" Ford asked.

"Hang on. I need to call Elle. What's her number?"

Ring. Ring. Ring.

"Hello?"

"Elle. Can you hear me okay?"

"I can, but who is this?"

"It's Joe. I'm with Ford and we're on our way to you right now."

"Is Ford all right?! I saw the news about the Hawaii attack!"

"I'm fine, hun." Ford said, leaning over to speak into the phone.

"Oh thank God!"

"Elle, listen to me. That flying creature is on its way to San Francisco right now. And it's only twenty miles away or so. You need to take Sam and get out now!" Joe said firmly.

"What?!"

"You heard me, Elle. Take Sam and get out now! There's no time to waste asking questions."

"Okay! I'll get Sam and try-…"

"Elle?"

Static.

"Elle!" Joe yelled.

Static.

Joe ended the call angrily.

"Step on the gas!" Ford demanded of the cab river.

The cab raced on as Ford began biting his lower lip.

"What is it Ford?" Joe asked.

"If the monsters are all converging on a single location and other weapons have failed, I'm worried they'll resort to nuclear force."

"What? But San Francisco is the heart of the Bay Area! There's tens of millions of people in the blast zone! How could they possibly justify it or get permission? Don't they need to get approval from the President for that?"

"Yeah. They have to call the President and receive the order. But I guarantee they'll get permission when they say "there's no other way" to handle them all at once."

"Oh no."

The cab raced down the highway towards San Francisco which was just barely visible on the horizon.
