I held Prims hand as I walked to the reaping. I knew I was going in the games. I also knew that my survival would mean the death of Haymitch or Peeta. No, Peeta will not be going back in the games. He can't. I hugged Prim then walked onto the stage, to the female side, where the victors were to stand. I looked out at Prim and my mother, who had been joined by Gale. I looked straight ahead. Trying not to cry. Effie talked and then walked over to the bowl for females, containing only one strip of paper, with my name on it. She picks it up and walks back the microphone where she reads my name. Then she walks to the males side and pulls out one of the two papers.
"Haymitch Abernathy." I couldn't look. I already knew what would be next.
"I volunteer." Peeta said. We were both once again being put against each other in the arena. Effie finished her required reading and I looked at Prim. She raised three fingers in the air, and suddenly the whole district raised them. I did the same and so did Peeta. Peacekeepers suddenly ushered us off stage.
"Katniss," I heard Prim yell for me.
"Prim," the peacekeepers were forcing me away and taking me to the train, "I get to say goodbye!" I tried to push against them but it was no use. I boarded the train and walked to my room. I changed clothes before walking out to eat. It was quiet. Haymitch was drinking again and Peeta ate silently. Effie wasn't there. I walked out after I was finished and Peeta followed me. I didn't know what to say so I just kept on walking. If Gale was here with me things would be different. But he isn't and they aren't.
"Katniss," Peeta said and I turned around, "It will be okay."
"No it won't Peeta! I AM NOT COMING OUT OF THE ARENA AGAIN! SNOW DID THIS SO I WOULD DIE," I didn't intentionally mean to yell but it felt good.
"Katniss I will never let that happen. He won't touch you or our baby," he walked over to me and wrapped me in his arms.
"You can't stop them."
"Your right," he let go of me and turned to walk away.
"Peeta, I'm sorry."
"Me too Katniss," he walked away from me and I sunk down against the wall. I am such an idiot. I heard footsteps coming towards me and I stood up.
"Katniss, I love you," Peeta walked back up to me, "I'm sorry. Just please don't be mad at me. I love you."
"I love you too Peeta," I leaned forward and pressed my lips to him. He kissed me back and didn't attempt to pull away. I pulled him against me and wrapped my arms around his neck. He opened his mouth and I did the same, we were standing there in the hallway outside the dining car making out. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He continued to deepen the kiss and moved his hands from my sides to my back and down to my waist. He pressed my up against the wall and moved his hands down to my butt, I could feel him against me. I knew we should go into a room but at this moment I didn't even care. I pulled his shirt off him and moved my lips down to his neck, he moaned a little and I started sucking on it.
"Katniss..." I knew what he was about to say so I pressed my lips to his to stop him. I heard someone clear their throat and looked over Peeta's shoulder to see Effie and Haymitch standing there.
"Peeta, we have company," I whispered in his ear. He put me down and the turned around. I moved over beside him and he put him arm around me.
"Get a room kids," Haymitch laughed, "now would be a good time." I saw him looked at Peeta and then over at me, he laughed some more. Peeta was bright red.
"Haymitch would you stop! They are teenagers, who mind you are going into the games. They don't need to be taking any risks that good put their lives in danger. If they had to carry a baby around in the games, well they wouldn't last long. "
"If they have that kind of action in the games it could just save their lives. All the capitol wants is a good show."
"Haymitch! Shut up! Peeta does not need to be thinking like that in the games and neither does Katniss," Effie countered him.
"Guys, if you could please listen to me for a moment," I begin figuring now was as good as time as any to drop the bomb.
"Katniss you do not need to be doing that thing in the games," Effie said.
"I agree, but it doesn't matter if we do now or not, I'm," Peeta elbows me and I stop.
"You're what," Effie half screamed in horror.
"She just has been taking some precautions incase the moment would come. Right Katniss?"
"Yeah, now if you would please excuse us," I said and walked into my room with Peeta holding onto my hand.
"Real smooth Katniss."
"Did you have a better plan?"
"For telling them about the baby? Yes."
"Fine. But what about the promise I made to you at the house," I kissed him gently and sat down on my bed and he followed me, gently pushing me back and laying on top of me.
"I'd like you to keep that promise," he smirked.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," he kissed me.
