I took a deep breath then stepped out into the room where we would get in the chariots. I looked around for Peeta, I still didn't see him. I felt someone put their hand on my shoulder.
"He'll be here sweetheart," Haymitch said from behind me. I noticed someone at the other side of the room, Haymitch seemed to follow my gaze. "Finnick Odair, district four, he won his games at just fourteen. "
"Thanks." I stepped away from him and walked to the horses for our district. As if the horse could tell I was pregnant, it leaned its head down toward my stomach. Cinna did a good job with hiding the bump. I gently stroked the horses mane.
"Want a sugarcube," I turned and saw Finnick, "They're supposed to be for the horses, but they'll still be here, where as you and me, if we see something sweet we better grab it."
"Hello Finnick," I said.
" What about you, Girl on fire," He smirked, "got any secrets worth my time."
"Everyone seems to know my secrets before I do."
"Katniss," I saw Peeta walking toward us, "You look beautiful."
"Thank you Peeta," Finnick walked off.
"So what did he want?"
"To know all me secrets," I smiled.
"Well he'll have to get in line," he pulled me into his arms and kissed me. I couldn't help but smile.
"Katniss, Peeta," Effie said from behind us, "Its time."
"Right," I said. Peeta got in first and reached out to help me in.
"Thanks."
"Welcome," he smiled.
"No smiles this year," Cinna said walking up behind us, "Stare straight ahead, you have to act like this whole thing is below you." He walked over and lit the garments. The horses started toward the door. I took a deep breath.
"It's okay Katniss," I felt him take my hand.
"I hope so," I looked down and he used his other hand to lift my face toward his.
"We're in this together Kat, I won't let you get hurt. I love you," he pulled me towards him and kissed me quickly.
"I love you too." Then the doors opened and it was our turn to go. I looked over at Peeta, it was making me feel a little sick. I started straight ahead like Cinna said to. Peeta squeezed my hand to reassure me. I wanted nothing more than to lay my head on his shoulder and have him hold me in his arms. We came to a stop and waiting for Snow to give his speech. I didn't really pay attention and I doubt Peeta did. I'd moved our hands over so my hand was resting on his leg. Finally we started to go back. Once we got back to where we stared and the doors had closed Cinna came over and killed the flames.
"Good job girl on fire." He helped me down and I walked over to Haymitch and Effie. Peeta followed me then Haymitch led Peeta and me to the elevator and we got on followed by another girl.
