Ch. 11

There wasn't much to do today. The kids were getting ready for internships, and there was some kind of quiz, or something that they had to take for one of their other classes that Dad would be covering.

I was still drowsy, and still sore from the fight that took place yesterday. I had to patch up my eye that was still very much bruised as well.

That wasn't very fun.

Since I would be meeting the class, Dad wanted me to dress presentable and appropriately for the school's dress code. I was not exempt from any rules, especially now that I was unofficially officially a student here.

Dad let me sleep in for a little bit, so by the time I woke up, he was already in class. My morning routine was somewhat different today. Not entirely, but without Dad, it seemed...lonelier, somehow.

I had to feed the cats and check up on Princess, making sure that she was okay since she was still pregnant.

I stroked her head and swollen belly, kissing her head gently. She purred quietly before she began grooming herself.

I walked over to the counter and started boiling some water for my tea. Then, I went back into my room and made my bed. I put on a black skirt--since I didn't have any green ones--and a button-up that seemed appropriate. I tucked it into my skirt and pulled out a small, maroon tie.

I struggled to get it to look like I knew what I was doing, and I loosened it just the tiniest bit so I didn't suffocate. How did guys do this again?

Anyway, I walked back out to the kitchen, shooing Sleepy off the counter. Again. That frickin cat--

I pulled out my insulated mug-thermos-thing I had bought for the go, putting my honey vanilla chamomile tea into the bottom of it, draping the little tag to it.

I got the water just to the right temperature, pouring it in and capping the cup, all while checking my phone for updates.

Dad texted me the way there (as if I didn't already know) and told me to text him when I was outside the room.

I grabbed my backpack which had some things that I could focus on in the meantime.

I went back into my room and grabbed my phone, and pulled up my black thigh-high socks. I didn't need any more guys looking at my legs than already were. I then put my laced tennis shoes on. With one final look in the mirror, check of my bag for everything (especially the tea, you can't forget that), I petted the cat one more time, grabbed my ID lanyard, and walked out, locking the door.

The halls were empty. Just how I liked them. Everyone was in class so that made a lot of sense. I sipped carefully on my tea, humming to myself to warm up my voice. It took a little while to make it to Class 1-A, but when I did, I could hear Dad lecturing them on..something. I'm not entirely sure what.

I texted him, like he told me to.

He went quiet for a second. I assume he received my text.

"Come in," he called.

I took a deep breath in and opened the large doors.

I walked in, my head high and face expressionless. I went to stand next to my dad.

The class almost erupted, but I would say it more...started talking, rather than yelling at the top of their lungs at my entrance.

"She looks...kinda beat up."

"Sensei! Is that a new transfer student?" I heard someone ask.

I blinked slowly. I don't look that old, do I?

"No," My dad sighed. "This...This is my daughter, Samiko."

There was the eruption of the class.

I winced, but I was used to Hizashi, so I wasn't too taken aback by the noise.

The class suddenly went quiet, and I looked up at my dad. He had used his quirk. He was intimidating, wasn't he, Class 1-A?

"Because of the recent villain activity, I have decided to keep her at U.A. with me. You will be seeing a lot more of her, and know that if I hear from her of any kind of harassment, tormenting, bullying, or unacceptable behavior of any kind from anyone in this classroom, directed either to her or anyone else, you will be dealing with me."

"So is she your personal spy of some kind now?" the winner of the Sports Festival asked gruffly.

I smirked. "Of sorts."

Dad glanced down at me before looking back up at his students. "I guarantee she won't be a distraction. That is all."

"What's her quirk?" Someone asked.

"If she wants to, she will tell you what her quirk is in due time." Dad deadpanned. Before he continued, I pulled in his shirt discreetly.

"May I evaluate them?" I asked my father.

He eyeballed me. "How?"

"I want to play a game."

"What kind of game?" the blonde with the electricity quirk warily.

I ignored him.

Dad looked at the clock and then back at me. "Try to make it quick."

"Well that depends on them," I said under my breath.

People were murmuring to themselves and I looked around the room as best as I could. The green-haired boy and Endeavor's son were here, but I didn't see Shinsou. I wonder why.

I had a gentle smile on my face. "To get to know me better, let's play two truths and a lie."

"But, we don't know anything about you!"

That was true. I sighed.

"Someone think of something."

I activated my quirk, my eyes glowing red. I looked at the girl with the pink hair, keeping my eyes open.

"You. The...pink one. You're thinking of asking me what y quirk s. You are also curious who my mother is."

She looked at me in awe. "How did you--"

I turned to the boy with the dark hair and odd smile. "Since you heard me, you are now thinking of testing me with your name. Your name is Sero Hanta. You are also thinking of your lunch for today, which is homemade ramen noodles and a side of rice cakes."

His jaw fell to the floor and I owed my eyes, deactivating my quirk.

*CUE PRESENT MIC*

Aizawa Samiko.

Quirk: Mind Reader.

She can see the thoughts of people she looks at as long as she doesn't blink.

Her eyes glow red when her quirk is activated, and strangely enough, her hair blows back, but not as intensely as her father.

If she tries hard enough, she can see into people's memories as far as twelve years--at least that's as far as she's gotten.

If she overuses her quirk, she will become exceedingly exhausted. She will have serious headaches and her eyes will water, making her sight blurry and therefore unable to see the subject clearly and unable to use her quirk.

In some extreme cases, she will start crying.

She is unable to tell a lie, which makes her a very genuine and honest person. Perhaps that's why she doesn have many friends.

Dad sighed. "Mic, did you have to put in that last part?"

I shrugged. "Well, it's true."

Mic flashed a smile at the door and gave me a thumbs up. The door closed as he left.

"Wh...what just happened??"

I looked back at the class, acting neutral.

"So, shall we play?"

"But...I thought you couldn't lie as part of your quirk…?"

I stayed quiet and someone finally nodded, so I took that as a yes.

"Well... I can't see out of my right eye," I blinked very slowly, so my eyes were closed, "I can sing," I blinked again, "and I am blind in my left eye."

I looked back up at the class.

They were stumped. I wore a confident smile, making eye contact with anyone I could.

"Uhm...is this a trick?"

"Nope," I answered, "One of them is a lie. This isn't a trick."

More silence.

Todoroki-San raised his hand politely. "May you repeat the statement?"

I nodded, blinking slowly and closing my eyes. "I can't see out of my right eye," I opened and turned to look at the class, "I can sing," I blinked again, "And I'm blind in my left eye."

People started thinking. I heard a few groups talking with one another, trying to figure it out.

Someone in the front raised their hand. "You can sing!"

I looked at them incredulously. "No."

Half of the class groaned.

"Now we have to figure out which one she's blind in," they said, "But how?"

After a few more minutes, I looked at my dad who had 'fallen asleep' in his sleeping bag. He was resting in the corner. I knew that when he got into his sleeping bag, he did it to be warm and rest. He never actually slept during that time.

Someone stood up. "I know which one it is!"

"No you don't. Sit down."

The person sat down, hesitant and shocked that I called them out.

"I'll say it once more," I told them. Many of them closed their eyes to listen better. Their mistake.

I blinked long as I said again, "I can't see out of my right eye. I can sing. I am blind in my left eye. Which is the lie?"

More quiet talking amongst themselves.

Midoriya-San stood up. "The lie is you can't see out of your right eye.

"When you walked in, the class was on your left side, and you hardly reacted to them. A few of them were making gestures to you and you hardly reacted.

"At first, I thought you were just ignoring them, but when you stated you couldn't see out of your right eye, you closed your eyes.

"Also, you stated you were blind in your left eye, not that you couldn't see."

I smiled proudly at him. "Very good. You are correct."

A stir broke out in the classroom, congratulating and asking Midoriya how he figured that one out. I was in the same boat, to be honest. Almost no one could figure out that one. When I was introduced to the teachers, I did that, and only Nezu could figure it out. It's a little 'quirk manipulation logic puzzle' I came up with in my free time.

"This is a lesson I hope you will all learn in one way or another," I said, "That every quirk, no matter its drawbacks, has a loophole. When I said I couldn't see out of my right eye, I closed my eyes. It was oddly specific, but when I opened my eyes, that was no longer the truth. So I can no longer make that statement. However, I also closed my eyes when I said I was blind in my left eye, but that was just to confuse you."

"'Logical ruses' run in the family, don't they?" The electricity quirked boy said.

I ignored him. "I hope you think about this during your Internships you're going on next week. I wish you all the best of luck."

"How much does this chick know?" I heard someone 'whisper.'

"Try telling a lie," Bakugo-San demanded amongst the chatter. "I wanna see what happens."

"What lie?" I asked, willing to go along with his request.

"How about...Eraserhead isn't your dad?" Someone else suggested.

So I tried. "E--Era….Ugh. Er….Erasss-- Er--augh!"

I winced, holding my head. A sharp pain panged through my temples, like an ice pick was hit on it multiple times.

"I mean, she looks just like him…"

"Woah…" Someone whispered. "She really can't tell a lie…"

I looked up and let out a huff. "No, really?" I said sarcastically.

Dad gave me a water bottle and I sipped out of it carefully while he explained my quirk.

"She physically cannot tell a lie. It has been tested many times by several experts. If she attempts to lie, after a few tries she will get a headache. If that ever happens and you're there, just give her a glass of water, but it has been a good while since she has tried to lie to me, or with me in the room."

"So I just don't," I chimed in.

"Now that that's over...Samiko, would you mind handing these out to the students?"

"Of course."

I grabbed the stack of paper from my Dad's hands and started passing them out.
