The Tomb had already grown structurally unstable from the dragon aspects' transformations and the destruction of its walls and now, it fully collapsed from the force of the Avatar's strike and everyone in the upper levels fell down. The dragons reacted very quickly to this and transformed. They were able to let their allies grab hold but most still fell into the large pool of fel energies below. In the very far wall was a portal but it was very weakened

The dragon aspects' eyes widened in surprise when they laid eyes upon the only one who could have been responsible for the Tomb's collapse, the Avatar of Sargeras, the very same one they fought with Aegwynn so long ago. Unlike the late guardian, they knew that this was merely an Avatar. It was nowhere near the level of power the real Sargeras possessed. Both Alexstrasza and Ysera were not that confident in fighting the Avatar without holding back because of their allies, who could very well just get crushed underfoot

"What is that thing?" Jaina asked in surprise, protecting her group in a bubble of arcane energy

"The Avatar of Sargeras. He tried to invade the world so long ago but was defeated by Aegwynn." Alexstrasza replied, flying next to them. "Leave the Avatar to Ysera and me and be very careful about those pools of fel. I am not certain what it would do." she said before flying down

"Jaina, look." Arthas pointed, noticing the fighting at the Avatar's feet

"Kael..." Jaina trailed off, seeing Sylvanas trying to cut down Kael but to no avail

"Look out!" Anya yelled as the Avatar threw one of the dragons their way

The dragon slammed completely into the bubble Jaina had created and destroyed it almost instantly, causing the group to fall to the ground. Only Anya was the one who landed on the ground. Everyone else landed in the fel pool and they instantly felt their skin being seared. Powering through the pain, they made their way to the ground and began to catch their breath

Ysera's group made a more graceful landing. Instead of creating something to slow down their descent, Kel'thuzad simply teleported them to the ground. They were all discombobulated from the ordeal but when they shook it off, they found themselves on a sight they never expected to see. The dragons fighting a giant creature that most have not seen before while Kael was there fighting his former allies

Soridormi's group also fell down and unlike Ysera's, they mostly landed in the pool of fel and they quickly surfaced before they could be burned to a crisp. While they, and the others, tried to calm themselves from nearly being burned, the Avatar summoned more demons from the Twisting Nether who quickly engaged the Legion's enemies

Upon making her way to solid ground, Alleria took a few breaths before noticing her younger sister already fighting with Kael'thas in an area that was far away from where the Avatar was so as to not get crushed underfoot. Anger quickly filled her and she tried to nock an arrow only to realize that all of the remaining arrows in her quiver are unusable thanks to the pool of fel. This only made her angrier and instead, she drew her blades, which were also unusable. Throwing her weapons away, she picked up ones that were on solid ground which she figured belonged to another ranger that was killed, most likely by the Avatar. Alleria didn't waste any time and quickly charged at her former prince. "Kael'thas!" she hissed venomously as she swung her sword at him, completely ignoring the pain of having her body seared

Sylvanas, who was fighting Kael, was surprised at how furious her sister was and gave the prince the chance he needed to force her back so he could block Alleria's attack

"What's wrong, Alleria? You seem to be upset. That is so unlike you." Kael mocked her and released a small trail of fel which protected his backside when Sylvanas tried to kill him

"You bastard. I swear, I will kill you for what you did to Turalyon and my son." Alleria hissed and kicked him away

Kael then began to grin once more as he released a wave of fel from his sword at the eldest Windrunner, forcing her to dodge while using it to block another attack from the younger one. "You really should have paid attention to him. Turalyon was the one who approached me and not the other way around. If you really want anyone to blame, then it should be you for failing to realize that your precious Turalyon was under the Legion's control." he explained but to no avail as Alleria just charged at him again

"Alleria! Calm yourself down." Sylvanas said but it fell on deaf ears. Her sister was broken. "Damn it." she cursed and tried to cover her sister as best she can. She took a glance and saw the the rest of their forces were busy taking down the Avatar and the demons it summoned

The former high elf prince was constantly on the backfoot from the ranger captain's attacks but he didn't even try to match her. Kael was aware that no matter what he does, he would lose in a direct fight so he took advantage of where he completely outmatched her, magic. Small trails of fel energy kept him protected from any of the attacks by both sisters. Kael also kept releasing waves of flames, both fel and regular, from his sword. He was simply toying with his former subordinates, both of which were trying to kill him. This proved to be his undoing as Alleria managed to inflict a large wound from his abdomen to his left shoulder

Sylvanas also saw this and threw one of her swords right at him, lodging it in his other shoulder. She then ran at him and kicked him right in the face, forcing him to the ground. The general then stabbed her other sword onto Kael's sword arm and took Felo'melorn from him

Alleria then took the runeblade from her sister and held it against the former prince's throat. "Any last words, Prince Kael'thas?" she asked venomously with the last two words being said with sarcasm

Now, Kael was furious at this turn of events. "Just two, enough's enough." he hissed before releasing an blast of arcane energy, sending both sisters flying back and burning Sylvanas' swords. He then teleported to Alleria and retrieved what was his and this time, she was the one slammed into the ground. The other Windrunner shot an arrow at him but he simply released a small amount of fel fire behind him which burned the arrow. "Your turn, Sylvanas." he said and shot a stream of fel at her, inflicting a large burn and forcing her on her knees. Kael then teleported in front of Sylvanas and slashed her. The ranger general reacted fast enough so that the slash wouldn't immediately kill her but not fast enough to fully dodge. Sylvanas was cut in the very same area where Alleria and inflicted a large wound on the former prince. As Kael was beating up Sylvanas, the eldest Windrunner shot an arrow at his back, causing him to stagger. Alleria was nearly able to cleanly slice off one of Kael's arms but his magics protected him and burned her sword as well. The former prince then released a huge wave of fire from his sword, hitting her. "I've had just about enough of you, Alleria. Allow me to reunite you with your beloved family." he said and run her through right at her chest

Alleria could feel the life slowly seep away from her. She was defeated and killed by the last one of the lineage of the one she had sworn to serve. Kael could have warned the rest of the Alliance with what Turalyon was up but instead, he simply played along and let him kill an innocent child, her child. She was still injured after Balnazzar shot a powerful fel bolt at her. Alexstrasza had healed her but like the others, it was only enough for her to continue fighting and her falling into the pool of fel didn't help matters either

"Alleria!" Sylvanas yelled when she finally came to but it was too late. Her sister had been run right through the chest. She tried to run towards her sister but was suddenly encased in a cage of fel. "What?!"

"And you, Sylvanas Windrunner..." Kael trailed off, taking a stroll around the cage. "You are very persistent. I now understand why you were chosen to be the ranger general. You just don't give up, do you, even in a hopeless situation."

"Kael, why?" Sylvanas asked, voice very weak and her world completely turned around

"Because Lord Kil'jaeden would provide us with what we have been lacking..." Kael trailed off. "Power, more than we can ever dream of. More than what the Sunwell once provided us. Our hunger for magic is driving us insane and soon, we would all succumb to it. Lord Kil'jaeden will cure the hunger of those who agree to serve him and once I offer it to the rest of our people, we will finally have salvation." he explained. "So, make your choice, Sylvanas Windrunner. Are you with us or against us?" he asked and Sylvanas didn't even bother to dignifiy that with a response as her disgusted face pretty much told him what her response is. "Oh well, too bad. You are far too valuable to simply kill. You will serve us regardless."

Just as Sylvanas was about to be killed, arrows were shot right into Kael's back and he staggered once more. As the elven prince turned around, he was met with an axe to his face. The elven prince was barely able to block this with his magics but he got pushed away from the captured general. His attacker was Arthas and with him were Rhonin, Vereesa and Jaina, the two mages quickly set Sylvanas free from the cage while Arthas and Vereesa fought off Kael

"Sylvanas, are you alright?" Jaina asked worriedly but the general didn't respond. The female archmage was worried since she knew that Sylvanas was a strong person but after looking around, she finally saw why

"Alleria..." Rhonin trailed off, noticing it as well. The dead body of the eldest Windrunner. He was worried that Sylvanas would recklessly chase after the traitor prince but to his surprise, she did not. He was slightly grateful that the general was too injured to do much

As Vereesa and Arthas were fighting Kael, the traitor prince was able to send her flying because of a stream of fel fire and he focused his efforts on his once rival. Vereesa landed near her elder sister and she too was completely furious at seeing her eldest sister dead. She had already thought her dead once and now, Alleria was really dead for good

"Sister..." Vereesa muttered as she cradled her sister's body and noticed her other sister approach them

While Vereesa was sent flying back, Arthas ended up dueling Kael. The elven prince's injuries left him much more vulnerable and the human prince being a better fighter than him only made things more difficult for him. His magics were also being constantly deflected by Arthas' holy shield but he soon realized that it was all for show. While Arthas' shield did protect him from the worst, Kael's magics were strong enough to pierce through the shield to cause some damage

"I guess now we can finally settle our score, wouldn't you say, Arthas?" Kael said, referring to their spat in Dalaran

"Is that what this is about, Kael?" Arthas asked incredously as they both stared each other down after a small skirmish. "Because Jaina didn't choose you? You chose to betray all of us and let Mal'ganis kill Arator just because of that?"

Kael simply laughed at this. "Not at all. As if I would do all of this just because of something like that although I would be lying if I said I do not appreciate the chance to finally face you as an enemy." he replied with a smirk. "This is simply about salvation, Arthas."

"As if the Legion would give you any salvation, Kael." Arthas hissed and charged at him

Having had enough of direct combat, Kael simply bound him in arcane chains before creating a column of flame from beneath Arthas' feet, burning him. "Sometimes, I wonder why I didn't just do this earlier on." he muttered as he slowly began absorbing Arthas' energies to heal his own body. Kael wasn't able to do this for more than a couple minutes as he was hit by a powerful arcane bolt. "Now, what?!" he hissed and saw both Rhonin and Jaina coming towards him. "Why you..." he growled upon seeing his attackers before creating another column of flame, this time much larger than the one he used on Arthas

Jaina reacted quickly to this and teleported herself behind the elven prince. Rhonin was not as fortunate and created an arcane shield around him, which shattered near instantly and got caught up. Before Kael could finish him off, Jaina shot a stream of ice magics to his back before summoning a couple water elemental to aid her. Furious, Kael targetted her with a few fel bolts but she was able to dodge every single one. He was surprised at how fast she was able to use a teleportation spell

'Must be from the recent battles she had participated in.' Kael mused to himself and when the water elementals attacked him directly, he moved back and summoned a phoenix to fend them off

Rhonin finally recoved from the attack and while Kael was busy exchanging energy blasts with Jaina, he created chains of arcane energy that prevented the elven prince from moving. Jaina saw this and quickly shot a pyroblast right at him, creating a huge explosion

"You damn human!" Kael said in fury after a few moments before forcing the smoke to clear. He then used his fel magics to burn through the chains. "I will skin you alive for th-" he hissed but was interrupted when he was kicked from behind. He turned and saw that Vereesa was attacking him furiously and given his injuries, Kael wasn't able to defend himself

After a while of kicking and slashing the traitorous prince, Vereesa accentuated the wound inflicted by Alleria in an attempt to cripple him. She was surprised as that should have completely sliced off Kael's arm but it did not. The only thing it accomplished was draw out a huge amount of blood. "What?!" she asked in surprise and saw that Kael was grinning at her

"Surprise, Vereesa." Kael said and created chains around her, this time made out of fel and not arcane. The elven prince then raised Felo'melorn

Rhonin saw what was happening and in a desperate attempt to save his wife, he used all of his energies in a complex teleportation spell that allowed him to instantly swap places with Vereesa right as Kael brought down the runeblade. With Vereesa safe, Rhonin was the one who took the blow and his body was completely cleaved in two

"Rhonin!" Vereesa yelled in desparation as she realized what had happened and was helpless as she saw her husband get killed by the one she had sworn her allegiance to so long ago

"Oops. Looks like I killed the wrong one." Kael said in mock disappointment before creating a wall of flame as Jaina released another pyroblast. "And you, Jaina Proudmoore, once the Legion controls this world, you shall rule by my-." he said and he was cut off once more as a massive spear made out of ice pierced him through the chest. Kael turned to where it came from and saw Kel'thuzad, the one he had hated the most. "You..." he said as his body fell, the life seeping away. The archlich didn't let up as after piercing the traitorous prince, Kel'thuzad caused his entire body to explode in a large blast of frost. Everyone's eyes widened in surprise as they didn't expect the lich to aid them at all

On the other side of the room, the dragon aspects, along with most of the other dragons, were fighting the Avatar of Sargeras. To their relief, this Avatar was nothing more than just a husk and didn't even come close to possessing the same amount of power it did when the late guardian fought it a thousand years ago. Because the room was very large, it wasn't able to slow down the three gigantic warriors one bit

While the Avatar wasn't as powerful as it once was, the dragon aspects still had the issue of their allies right below them and to no one's surprise, the Avatar didn't care one bit about its own minions it summoned. It also proved to be incredibly resistant to the breaths of all the dragons, which included, lightning, acid, fire and ice

As Alexstrasza tried to tackle it into the wall, she realized that the Avatar still had its brute force as it grabbed her by the wing and threw her into the pool of fel below them and in the process nearly ripping one of them off. Another dragon tried to attack the Avatar but it simply swatted it aside and crushed the dragon with its barehand. "Flameees!" it growled out and released multiple orbs of fel into the upper walls, which caused debris to collapse and take the appearance of a meteor coated in fel and rain down upon the entire battlefield

After seeing her sister being thrown into the pools of fel, Ysera tried to take a large bite out of the Avatar's sword arm. To her surprise, she simply bit into something with large amounts of fel and nearly burned her mouth. As the Avatar tried to swat her away, Ysera had moved back and used her powers to heal herself before releasing a breath of acid, which bounced off harmlessly

"Burn!" the Avatar yelled and tried to cleave the Dreamer in two only to lose its balance as Alexstrasza had slashed it by the knee with her claw. Irritated, the Avatar released a small storm of shadow magic and forced back all the dragons trying to attack it. After releasing a stream of fel that hit nearly all of the other dragons, the Avatar tried to slam the dragonqueen into another wall but she simply dodged it and attacked with her fiery breath, which did almost nothing. "Flames!" the Avatar yelled and raised its sword arm, causing explosions to occur in the pool of fel, hitting fighters on both sides. Some of the explosions even reached above the Avatar's height and hit some of the dragons

Tyrygosa tried to stop the explosion by flying onto the Avatar's raised hand and trying to freeze it. She was able to successfully do so but she left herself wide open as the Avatar swatted her aside with its other hand. The blue dragon was slammed into the wall and the Avatar was quick to try and run her through only for another dragon to block it with its body and knock the blade off its intended course. Tyrygosa looked at her savior and she was surprised to see who it was. "Arygos!"

Malygos' son was barely alive at this point after Jaraxxus attacked it by its neck and was just flying above the battle. Arygos knew that it wouldn't be able to contribute much anymore so he sacrificed himself to allow Tyrygosa to live

"Burn!" the Avatar yelled in irritation when it ended up stabbing the wall and the wrong dragon but released a burst of fel on its sword to destroy Arygos' body. It then turned its attention to Ysera as she landed on its back and tried to inflict some injuries by running her claws into its back

Alexstrasza was about to fly up again when another blue dragon flew towards her

"Dragonqueen, do we have any plans to deal with the Avatar?" the blue dragon asked

"No, we did not expect to face it now. If this keeps up, it will end up killing us all, Kalecgos. Our allies can't even aid us as the Avatar is too large." Alexstrasza replied, worry filled her voice

"In that case, I have one." Kalecgos replied and began explaining to the dragonqueen

"What? You're willing to take that risk?" Alexstrasza asked in surprise

"I am. As you said yourself, if it keeps up at this rate, we will all be killed." Kalecgos answered and flew onto the Avatar's sword arm. He then began to gather whatever energies he could and continue what Tyrygosa started

The Avatar, who was trying to crush more dragons, suddenly felt something on its sword arm and saw Kalecgos trying to freeze it. Annoyed, it chose to ignore the other dragons and focus on the one on its arm. The Avatar wasn't able to do so as Soridormi landed right on top of its head before releasing her lightning breath right at its eye. The Avatar yelled in pain and tried to shake her off but to no avail until it was completely blinded. It already lost one of its eyes when Illidan claimed it to fight Deathwing and now, it lost the other. It then staggered a bit and lost its balance when it stepped on a deep part of the pool of fel

While the Avatar struggled to find its targets thanks to Soridormi, Kalecgos was just about finished freezing its sword arm. He then turned to look at the dragonqueen. "Alexstrasza!"

The dragonqueen needed no further instructions and quickly flew up, releasing her fiery breath on the frozen part of the Avatar's arm as Kalecgos flew away to avoid getting hit. Alexstrasza's breath melted the ice and broke off the arm, causing the large sword to fall down and the Avatar to yell in pain once more. The Avatar then released another storm of shadow magic but all the surviving blue dragons combined their power to create an arcane shield around it so that the storm couldn't go reach them. This gave Alexstrasza the time she needed to grab the sword but even with her strength, she was having trouble trying to aim it. Ysera saw this and quickly flew down to give her a hand. Together, they thrust the sword right into the Avatar's neck, severing its head and finally killing it. As the Avatar's head fell down, its body went limp and fell forward. Most of its body ended up in the pool of fel. It was only then that any connection Azeroth had to the Twisting Nether has been completely severed

The battle soon ended after that with Legionfall being victorious. Despite their victory, the price was high. A large number of the remaining dragons were killed and even the Scourge lost a lot of troops when the Avatar destroyed the platform. A lot of necromancers and liches fell into the pool of fel where they were completely burned to death. A few survived but it was not much. The survivors then regrouped to where Alleria was killed and Rhonin's body was brought there as well

"Anya, Agatha, Serpenta, status report." Kel'thuzad ordered

"We have suffered large amount of casssualtiesss." Serpenta began. "Outsside the Tomb, the battle wass going our way but the Avatar killed mosst of our warriorsss, both living and dead."

"They were not all that we lost today." Anya said, looking at Alleria's body

"A lot of dragons were also killed by the Avatar." Alexstrasza mourned the deaths

"The dreadlords were also able to kill Drak'thul when we fought to place the Pillars." Ysera added

The Windrunners were silent as they cradled Alleria and Rhonin's bodies. A lot of the bodies of the fallen couldn't even be recovered as they fell into the pool. The three black dragons then flew from the entrance level

"The felstorm has completely dispersed and the rest of their forces have been defeated." Wrathion replied

The two dragon aspects then eyed the black dragons suspiciously while Kel'thuzad performed some kind of spell

"It would seem that Vandel was not lying. You black dragons truly do not have any influence of the Old Gods on you." Kel'thuzad commented. "Who are you, black dragons?"

"Wrathion."

"Seldarria."

"Sabellian."

"It is good to see that not all of the black dragons were corrupted." Ysera said in relief

"We can save the pleasantries for later, Ysera." Seldarria said. "For now, we should focus on our current problem."

Deciding that there would be time for mourning later, Valeera decided to ask the important question. "So, now what? The portal is gone so that must mean that it is closed but we all know that won't last for very long."

Kel'thuzad turned to Sylvanas but she didn't say anything. It was almost as if she had lost her will to do anything so the lich turned to the Horde Warchief, who was bleeding

Thrall nodded in understanding. "For now, we lack any means of invading the Legion's territories so our only choice is to wait for the demon hunters. Any word from them, Kel'thuzad?"

Instead of answering, Kel'thuzad instead closed his eyes and began to concentrate and eventually, made contact with his master's second in command. 'Illysanna, what is your situation?'

'Things went well for us, surprisingly. Malygos proved to be invaluable in isolating Mardum from the rest of the Legion. We managed to steal one of their larger gunships and are on our way to Argus now. What about there?'

'We have closed off the Legion's portal. The plan worked as they did not anticipate that we have the means to teleport. As of now, Thrall is considering invading Argus but we lack the means of getting there.'

'Guess fortune is on our side. We are still travelling and it could still take us a few hours before we even lay eyes on Argus. I was actually thinking of returning if the situation there got too bad since all we really need is the Sargerite Keystone and from our prisoners here, we know exactly where Argus is. If you still have some ships remaining then I can use the Keystone to create a portal that will bridge the gap between Azeroth and Argus.'

'Very well. I shall inform the Warchief.' Kel'thuzad said and cut the link. "Thrall, the demon hunters are already on their way to Argus, the heart of the Burning Legion. If we still have some ships, Illysanna will be able to open a portal for us to travel there."

"I see. Velen, do we still have some ships left?" Thrall asked

"From the ones we used to travel here, no. The Legion's constructs all knocked them out of the sky." Velen replied. "But, we have one left on Kalimdor. We have begun building it and it is only to be used for when the time comes for us to return to Argus."

"In which case, begin preparations." Sylanas said as she got up. "The Legion have taken enough from us already. It's time we ended them once and for all."

That's right. In this chapter, I killed off Alleria and Rhonin. I wanted something to recreate the impact that the Legion had in their self titled expansion. That impact being killing Varian and Vol'jin. It would have been underwhelming if the only significant individual that died was Drak'thul so I just had to add some from the Alliance and Horde. For the Alliance, it was Rhonin, Turalyon, Alleria and Arator while on the Horde it was Cairne and Rexxar. Nothing really against those characters but Rhonin was already dead in the canon so I just replicated that. Alleria was a bit tricky but since I already went to the trouble of killing Turalyon, I decided to just add her as well since it wouldn't be too unreasonble for her to be unable to think straight

Just for the fun of it, I also added in the part where the Avatar would just yell out 'flames' or 'burn' during the battle. I'm not too sure of its own qualities but given its size, I'm legitimately curious why it didn't just crush the entire raid underfoot. I'm also not too sure about how Aegwynn saw the Avatar. There weren't any indication if she was aware it was just an Avatar but since wowpedia said she believed herself a match for it, I'm gonna guess no, at least until she learned he possessed Medivh

If anyone is curious why Arthas has an axe, it's just one he picked up on the ground. He doesn't really have a weapon anymore since Y'Shaarj did destroy his hammer after all
