I do not own InuYasha or Digimon Adventure in any way!
Speech Key:
"The" – Oral/Normal Speech
'The' – Thoughts
AN: I know I mentioned that technically none of the InuYasha characters would be involved since I'm not going to include anything from that series besides Kagome's character and some itty bitty accents here and there. However, I think I also mentioned that just because I won't be using any of the series details, but some characters might be included here and there possibly.
Anyway, enjoy the chapter!
Review, but if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all!
-The Ninth Child-
xX-The Taishos-Xx
-Friday Afternoon; Kamiya Residence-
"So are you going to that soccer scrimmage on Sunday?" Tai asked Kagome as he finished up the last of his homework for now. "Davis' team is supposed to go up against that one that ranked number one last year."
Kagome shook her head. "I can't," she told him, "I'm babysitting for a few friends on Sunday, so my hands are tied. But even if they weren't, I probably wouldn't go anyway…"
"Why not?" Tai asked, looking at his sister curiously.
"I usually watch you play, Tai," Kagome explained, "But beyond that, Soccer's never held my interest for long…You know that."
The brown-haired teen never noticed his sister's eyes glaze over and her form stiffen almost imperceptibly.
Images of a navy-haired boy playing soccer against Davis, Bakemon with the rest of the group, and the same navy-haired boy standing back-to-back against to Digimon Emperor flashed through her head.
'Could that be—?' Kagome's eyes narrowed in thought. 'I've seen that boy somewhere…but where?'
Just then Kari came into the room, carrying a small plate inside. "I brought over some dinner for you two," she told Kudamon and Gatomon.
"You're the best, Kari!" Gatomon thanked her partner.
"Thank you," Kudamon nodded as the two Digimon dug in.
"Tai, phone for you!" Airi called.
"Coming!" the brown-haired teen dashed out of the room to speak to whomever called.
"Kari," Kagome said quietly, "When you go to the Digital World, I want you all to remember something."
"Sure, what is it?" the light-brown-haired girl looked at her sister confusedly.
"The biggest secrets will always be hidden in plain sight," the raven-haired teen stated.
"Okay," the youngest Kamiya nodded. "But we aren't planning on going unless there's trouble or if another Control Spire pops up."
"Never say never, Kari," Kagome told her sister with a certain look.
"Another vision?" Kari asked warily. "What's it about?"
"I can't say," Kagome shook her head, "But I can tell you that you mustn't let your heart cloud your ability to see."
"But what does that mean?" her younger sister asked.
"I mean that don't see what you want, but make sure you see what is there," the raven-haired teen stated.
-Sunday Morning; Kamiya Residence-
"I'm leaving now, Mama!" Kagome called out as she made to walk out the door.
"Stay safe and have fun!" Airi called back.
The~Ninth~Child
Kagome was wearing a thigh-length lavender dress with short sleeves, a wide boat-neck, a flared skirt, and a black belt sitting snugly under her chest. She wore a pair of white fingerless gloves that went halfway up to her elbow, a pair of cream and brown knee-high boots with a 1½-inch heel boots, and a ruby pendant with butterflies swirling around inside of it hung off of a thin black cord and rested on her collarbone.
Her hair was let down and held back with a thin brown scarf while a navy messenger back was slung over her left shoulder and diagonally across her body.
The~Ninth~Child
"You seem to be quite excited," Kudamon remarked, sticking his head out of her bag discreetly.
"Of course I am," Kagome giggled. "I love those kids and I love that family! And it helps that they don't live all that far from us; it's literally just a fifteen minute walk to their home."
'She looks really happy,' Kudamon thought, 'I'll admit, my interest is definitely piqued. I wonder just what this family did for Kagome to value them so much…'
"Do you babysit for them often?" the fox-like Digimon asked.
"I guess," Kagome said as she looked up to the sky in thought, "I mean, I help out wherever I can; I don't really have a steady job like Sora at her mother's shop or Matt with his band. I just do what I can when I'm needed and I just get paid despite however many times I've tried saying that I don't need the money… Anyway, I just babysit when they need someone to watch over the kids, or I come over to help out whenever there's something big happening like a dinner or party or something. And like I said before, they care about me like family too, so I often get called over for dinner and usually when I do, I stay the night."
"And your parents are fine with that?" Kudamon inquired.
Kagome nodded. "They were a little hesitant a first, but who wouldn't be? Eventually, they trusted the family to take care of me and it just went off from there." Here she stopped before a pair of large gates. "Well, here we are."
The fox-like Digimon blinked in confusion. 'How are we there already?' He glanced up at the house they stood before and stared.
The~Ninth~Child
The home was definitely large, but designed like cross between a modern Japanese home and a traditional one. The main colour theme that seemed to be running was white with indigo accenting. There was a large collection of flower bushes surrounding the front sides of the home while the driveway lead into a large garage.
The~Ninth~Child
Kagome stepped up and pressed a button on a voice box next to the gate.
"Taisho Residence. Speak," a smooth voice crackled over the intercom.
(AN: Three guess on who this is~!)
"Hi Fluffy!" Kagome said cheerily, to which Kudamon just gave his partner a strange look.
"…" the voice was silent, but breathing could still be heard through the speaker.
"Oh come on, Fluffy, let me in!" Kagome all but whined.
"Oh stop teasing the poor the girl!" Another male voice could be heard, this one deeper in tone, but lighter in attitude. "I'm sorry about him, Kitten, but you know how he can be!"
"Oh I know," the raven-haired teen grinned, "But can someone let me in now?"
"What?" the voice commented. "Oh, that's right, forgive me! Come on in, Kitten!"
"Just let the kid in already!" Another voice piped in gruffly.
"Thank you!" she said when the gates buzzed, signaling that they'd been unlocked. She pushed her way in before pushing the gate back into place and walked up to the mahogany door and rung the door bell.
"SISSY!" chorused two voices right before Kagome found herself tackled to the ground.
"Nice to see you, too!" the teen laughed as she sat up, clutching one three-year-old and one four-year-old sitting on her tightly.
The first child was a little three-year-old girl with lightly-tanned skin, honey-brown eyes, and mid-back-length black hair with a tiny section of it caught up into a small side ponytail.
She wore a knee-length orange and cream checkered dress with puffed sleeves and a green sash tied around her waist. She wasn't wearing any shoes.
The~Ninth~Child
The second child was a little four-year-old boy that stood just an inch taller than the little girl with a complexion just a tiny bit darker than the girl's, emerald eyes, and auburn hair that was caught up in a high ponytail with a teal hairtie.
He wore a pair of dark-blue shorts with a lighter blue short-sleeved shirt with a white leaf pattern scattered across the fabric. He, too, wore no shoes.
"Darlings, why don't help Kagome get up first, and then she can play," an amused female voice spoke.
The two children quickly scrambled out of Kagome's arms, tugging her up as quickly as they could. Kagome looked up and smiled when she was once again upright, though she still held onto the childrens' hands. "Good morning, Kimi-Mama!"
"And a good morning to you as well, my dear," Kimi Taisho smiled at the teen.
The~Ninth~Child
Kimi Taisho looked quite young despite her age. She had pale skin, violet eyes and silver hair that was pulled back into a pair of high-pigtails that hung down to her waist with two strips of hair hanging just below her shoulders on either side of her face with her bangs splayed across her forehead neatly.
(AN: I know technically she had gold eyes, but in my mind, this suited her!)
She wore a lavender silk blouse that had ruffled down the front and a high-waisted cream-hued skirt pair with a pair of simple ankle-tied kitten heels. She wore a pearl necklace around her neck, a small gold pendant with an amethyst in the center rested on her collarbone and a simple silver chain watch was around her left wrist. Her silver wedding ring and diamond-studded engagement rings sparkled on her finger.
The~Ninth~Child
"Why don't you come in and then we'll get everything settled," Kimi lead Kagome into the large home. "Now, I have to go into the boutique for a bit; it seems that someone hasn't been coming in for a while and they need help. The mutt I call my husband will be at the office with the boys, so if you have any trouble, just call them if you can't reach me. I should be back a little after 6.00, oh and—"
"Kimi-Mama," Kagome interjected, giggling, "Everything will be fine! I've taken care of these two long enough to know just what to do and how to take care of them. I just need to know when to expect you all home."
"We should be back at around the same time as Kimi," Touga Taisho said, walking into the room, followed by his two sons. "But you're staying the night, no ifs, ands, or buts about it!" He then looked at his wife with a suspicious glare. "Now what was it you said about mutts?"
Touga Taisho had long silver hair tied up in a topknot and bangs splayed across his forehead, a slightly-tanned complexion, and stunning gold eyes. Like his wife, he looked exceptionally good for his age, young even.
He was currently outfitted in a black suit with a pale-blue button-down, a deep-violet tie, and a pair of black shoes. A gold watch was clasped around his right wrist.
(AN: You'll have to forgive me if my fashion lingo isn't up-to-date or specific. In terms of my wardrobe, I usually just pick something out that looks nice and buy it if it's at a reasonable price; I never usually pay attention to brands, designers and the like…)
The~Ninth~Child
The eldest of the Taisho sons, Sesshomaru had a pale complexion clearly inherited from his mother, stunning gold eyes like his father, and long silver hair that was pulled into a loose braid that began a little below the shoulders and down to his waist leaving a good foot or so of hair loose while his bangs were splayed across his forehead.
He, too wore a suit like his father, but in white with a navy button-down and no tie, and a pair of black shoes.
The~Ninth~Child
The youngest of the two sons, InuYasha, had his father's slightly-tanned complexion and gold eyes, and he had thigh-length silver hair that was pulled into a low ponytail and his bangs splayed across his forehead.
He wore a dark-grey suit with a crimson button-down with no tie and a pair of black shoes.
"Oh but I never said anything," Kimi said with wide innocent eyes. "Isn't that right, Kagome, Rin, Shippo?"
The teen and the two children only laughed.
"Oh you traitors!" Kimi pouted.
"A mutt, am I?" Touga growled lightly as he brought his wife close to him. "So then does that make you my—"
Kagome just turned her face away from the scene, face flushing lightly as she knelt down and covered the children's eyes and keeping them covered despite their protests.
"Oi give a rest why don't ya!" InuYasha said loudly with his hands over his eyes. "Go and be lovey-dovey on your own time! Not in front of an audience!"
"Hn," Sesshomaru muttered, glancing away from his parents. "Father, Mother, cease your sickening display."
"Sickening?" Kimi blinked, creaking away from her husband and stalking up to her son, poking him in the chest. "Oh you—wait till you fall in love, then we'll see who's being 'sickening'!"
The younger son of the Taisho's burst out into laughter. "Are you kidding?! Have you looked at Mr. Absolute-Zero-Icicle over there?! No woman in the right mind would ever go out with him without getting steamrolled by his 'charming' personality first!"
"And I suppose you'd have a better chance?" Touga raised an eyebrow at his youngest. "Because if I remember correctly, you have never gone out on a date, let alone try wooing someone."
"What?! What do mean I've never—" InuYasha was cut off by his mother.
"Sitting next to your crush in the cafeteria in Junior High doesn't count, dear," Kimi broke in.
"But then—"
"Neither does working on a project with said crush at her home," Sesshomaru added in a monotone voice.
Kagome blinked at InuYasha, her hands already off of the children's' faces. "InuYasha, did you ever even tell your crush you liked her?"
"Well that's not—What're you—Why would I—" the younger Taisho sputtered blushing.
"So you never did," the raven-haired teen deadpanned. "And you're ganging up on Fluffy?" She then felt a little movement by her side and saw Shippo poking at her bag curiously.
"What inside?" the little boy asked cutely.
"Oh, that's right, I forgot to introduce you!" Kagome gasped. She opened her bang and put her arm up to it. "It's okay, you can come out."
Kudamon slowly slithered up his partner's arm to rest around her shoulders like he usually did, paying no attention to the family until he was situated in his place.
"Everyone, I want you to meet Kudamon," Kagome introduced, "He's my Digimon partner I told you about." She turned looked at Kudamon as she introduced the Taisho family. "Kudamon, that's Kimi Taisho and her husband Touga Taisho, their sons InuYasha and Sesshomaru, Sesshomaru's daughter Rin, and InuYasha's son Shippo."
"Hello," the fox-like Digimon said politely, bowing his head lightly.
"Oh he's just gorgeous!" Kimi gushed as she rubbed her hands gently through Kudamon's fur, eliciting a purr from the Digimon. "But how do you hide him in public?"
"Usually he acts like a scarf or he be up my sleeve somewhere," the raven-haired teen answered.
"You sure that thing can fight?" InuYasha looked upon the Digimon with skepticism.
Kagome nodded. "He can fight in this form, but he's much larger after he Digivolves."
"Papa go go!" Little Rin toddled over to Sesshomaru and tugged lightly on his pants as she pointed to the clock.
"Oh my, 'go go', is right," Kimi gasped, "we really need to get going if we don't want to be late. Kagome, you know what to do—"
"I know!" Kagome laughed. "Now go, all of you, before you're late!"
The trio stood outside as they waved the four adults off before heading back inside. "So what do you want to do today?" Kagome asked the children as she walked into their playroom.
"Fwowews!" Rin squealed, pulling Kagome towards the garden.
(AN: Like I did with Puppetmon, Rin's 'Ls' and 'Rs' are going to be read as 'Ws'. However that will be because Rin actually is a cute little thing, while Puppetmon's accent was done for the sake of his childish personality.)
"No!" Shippo tugged Kagome back. "Pirates! I wanna play pirates!"
"Fwowews!"
"Pirates!"
"Fwowews!"
"Pirates!"
"Why don't we paint?" Kagome suggested loudly. "I brought a treat for you today And I'm just lucky Auntie left the supplies I needed…" She looked around the playroom and mentally calculated where what should go so that they had enough room. "Rin, Shippo, can you go and watch TV while I set everything up?"
The two toddlers looked at each other before nodding and trotting into the living room. If there was one thing those two could do, it was use the television.
(AN: Believe me, my brother was able to do the same exact thing when he was kid…)
"What are you going to do?" Kudamon asked as he watched Kagome quickly go around the playroom with practiced ease and clean up whatever was lying around while pushing some of the plastic furniture off to the side.
"I brought over some finger paints for them to play with and Kimi-Mama left behind an old sheet they don't need anymore," Kagome explained, "I'm just clearing some space right now so that they have enough room to go wild."
"Kagome," the fox-like Digimon spoke, "are those children really related to this family? To my knowledge, I'm sure that children usually resemble their parents to some degree."
A small melancholy smile spread over the raven-haired teen's lips. She shook her head, "No, Rin and Shippo were adopted into the family like Mama and Papa did with me."
"How?" Kudamon looked at his partner curiously. "Sesshomaru doesn't seem to be the fatherly type, let alone sociable, and that InuYasha character seemed to be a little rough around the edges, if you don't mind me saying."
"No, I completely understand," Kagome giggled, "And it's not uncommon of anyone to think that way, actually. Sesshomaru found Rin as an infant, just lying there crying in an alley; she'd been abandoned. Since there was no note or anything, I can't explain, but something about that little girl just drew Sesshomaru in and before we knew it, he'd adopted her as his daughter. Kimi-Mama and Touga-Papa were so surprised when Sesshomaru just came home and announced that Rin would be living with them from now on!"
"And Shippo?" Kudamon asked. "How did he come about?"
"It actually hasn't been too long since Shippo was brought here, but that's really an adorable story," the teen smiled as she reminisced. "If I remember correctly, InuYasha was having an off day or something and decided that maybe a walk through the park would help clear his head. He didn't notice it at first, but after a while, he found someone following him. He turned around and asked for whoever was after him to come out and face him like a man. But imagine his surprise when his answer was just a giggling bush!"
"I'm sorry?" Kudamon blinked. "A giggling bush?!"
Kagome nodded with amused eyes as she laid out a large white sheet over the floor of the playroom. "InuYasha was definitely confused, so he decided to get a closer look, and lo and behold there was a giggling three-year-old Shippo looking up at him. Now, InuYasha is a lot of things, but heartless isn't one of them, so he asked Shippo where his parents were, figuring that he'd just lost them. Unfortunately, little Shippo probably was a little spooked by InuYasha and ran off as quickly as his little legs could carry him."
"But how did he come to live here, then?" the fox-like Digimon asked confusedly.
"I was just getting to that," Kagome nodded. "Three days after that, when InuYasha came home, he found Shippo sleeping in front of the gates. Now how that little guy found out where InuYasha lived, I wouldn't be able to tell you. But I can say that InuYasha took one look at him and brought him into the house and explained to his parents about his little encounter with Shippo as well as the fact that he was found in front of their home. Now, the first thing Touga-Papa and Kimi-Mama did was call the police about whether there was any report of a missing child."
"Was there?" Kudamon looked at his partner.
Kagome nodded. "Except the report came from the local orphanage; it turns out that whoever was looking after the kids during that time wasn't the best of people, which set off the catalyst for quite a few runaways, Shippo being one of them. InuYasha and his family, hearing that Shippo didn't have a home or family to go back to was in a bit of a bind. On one hand, they wanted to keep Shippo with them, but on the other, there could've also been a relative looking for Shippo."
"What changed their minds?" the fox-like Digimon inquired as Kagome ran up to the children's rooms and got a change of clothes for the both of them.
"Shippo woke up and the first word he uttered to InuYasha," Kagome told him. "When Shippo woke up, he called InuYasha 'Dada' and that pretty much solidified everyone's decision and viola, Shippo Taisho was there to stay."
The raven-haired teen made her way to the living room, where she clapped her hands, getting the children's attention. "Okay, it's time to get changed!"
"Why?" Little Rin asked cutely.
"Because we don't want your pretty dress to get all dirty, right?" Kagome knelt down in front of the girl.
Rin seemed to think about it before nodding.
The~Ninth~Child
"I thought they'd have fun," Kagome laughed, "but who'd have thought they do this?!" Kudamon joined in on her laughter this time.
The children had indeed painted the sheet Kimi had left for them, but after a while it seemed that they'd abandoned the sheet in favour of painting each other instead.
Shippo was covered in splotches of yellow, blue and pink with his hands done over in greens and red, but his faces completely painted over. Rin, on the other hand, was a multitude of colours, ranging from the normal single colours Kagome had brought over to colours creating from mixing different shades together. Kagome was just lucky they hadn't had the thought to paint their feet or get paint on them.
All in all, the toddlers were a pair of hilariously rainbow-painted children.
"Come on, you two," Kagome giggled, "Let's go get you washed up and then I'll fix up a nice lunch for all of us." And with that, she took the toddlers' hands and guided them into the bathroom, where she'd already filled up the tub with lukewarm water and plenty of bubbles for them to play in.
Kudamon stayed clear of the toddlers as they had their bath fun, watching in amusement as not only did they get a bath, but gave Kagome one as well. By the end of it all, the children were squeaky clean, but Kagome was drenched from head to toe.
"You looked like you had fun," the fox-like Digimon said amusedly to his partner.
"You'd think so, wouldn't you?" Kagome said dryly as she dried off the kids and helped them into the outfits they'd been wearing when she'd come that morning before going ahead into another room to change her own clothing, leaving Kudamon to look after the children.
The~Ninth~Child
The raven-haired teen came out in a comfortable cream-hued knee-length sundress with large cerise roses stitched carefully into the fabric.
Her hair was pulled back into a loose braid and tied off with the scarf she'd had her hair tied back with before.
The~Ninth~Child
"I'm glad I have a good amount of clothes here in case of emergencies," Kagome muttered when she came out. She gathered the toddlers and with Kudamon wrapped around her neck, the teen made her way into the kitchen to get started on lunch.
"What do the Taisho's do exactly?" Kudamon asked, watching his partner whisk around the kitchen with practiced ease, all the while, keeping an eye on the children at the island, taking care to not let them get into trouble.
"What is this?" Kagome laughed. "Twenty Questions?"
Kudamon sputtered for a moment. "I only wanted to know about the people who meant so much to you!" He huffed playfully. "Fine then! Be that way!"
"All right, all right," the raven-haired teen relented, chuckling. "I don't really know all the details, but Touga-Papa owns some big architecture firm with a separate branch for electronics and another for financing or something. Sesshomaru works the financing bit and InuYasha presides over the electronics. Kimi-Mama, on the other hand, owns a well-known boutique chain complete with a little bit of her own fashion lines included in the selections."
"How did you meet them?" the fox-like Digimon inquired.
"I think it was when I was eight or nine…" Kagome bit her lip, trying to remember the exact time. She shrugged. "Oh well, I know it was somewhere around that time. I remember Mama took Tai, Kari, and I to the park since it was such a nice day out. Tai was playing soccer with a few of his friends and Mama was pushing Kari on the swings."
"What were you doing?"
"I ended up watching everyone, for the most part," the raven-haired teen admitted, placing a small bowl of noodles in front of the children and Kudamon before taking a seat at the island herself. "An older girl saw me just watching and called me over; she was practicing for tennis club auditions. I asked Mama and she gave me permission to go over to the girl; I think her name was Nina. Nina said that she saw me just sitting there alone and wanted to ask me if I wanted to practice a little tennis with her. I guess I must've agreed since she handed me a spare racquet and we both started swinging."
Here Kagome cut off as she started giggling.
"What?" Kudamon blinked. "What happened?"
"It's just that when Nina gave me the racquet, I don't think she thought about the height difference between us," Kagome laughed, "she was of course much taller than me back then and the racket she handed me was longer and heavier; more suited for someone like her to be able to handle. So when I started swinging it around, I couldn't really control my swings and at one point, the racquet just sort of…flew out of my hands, clocking some guy good in the head.
"I thought I was going to be in so much trouble and I started going over to the guy I hit to apologize when Touga-Papa and Kimi-Mama came running onto the scene with a police officer right behind them. When they asked me what happened, I told them the truth," Kagome shrugged. "I told them that I accidentally lost control of the racquet I had, which resulted in knocking whoever that guy was unconscious."
"What happened then?" the fox-like Digimon said with wide eyes.
"They just sort of stared at me for a second," Kagome giggled, "Kind of like they just saw a giant pink elephant walking by. Then suddenly, Touga-Papa and Kimi-Mama burst out laughing while the police officer tried coughing to hide his laughs, which confused me since I thought I was going to be in trouble. The police officer explained how the man I knocked out was a petty thief that they hadn't been able to catch for a few days now. Once the officer took the robber away, Kimi-Mama just kind of squealed and pounced on me, thanking me over and over again while cooing at how 'cute' I was. After that, everything just started to go as it did and here we are now."
"That was quite the story," Kudamon shook his head in amusement. He glanced at the children and saw them finished with their food, but were now drooping a little as they yawned. "And it looks like these two are tuckered out."
"Not even," Kagome chuckled. "They just need a nap and before you know it, they'll be running around like the little mayhem makers they are." With practiced ease, she picked each toddler up in her arms and made her way upstairs to their rooms.
"Noooo," Shippo yawned as Kagome tucked him into his blue dinosaur-print bed, "No naaaaap…"
"Yes nap," Kagome kissed his forehead and left him with his stuffed fox before heading into Rin's room. "It looks like you're already asleep, huh?" She whispered, looking at the young girl.
The teen quickly and efficiently tucked the little girl into her bed with flower-printed covers and sheets, a large fluffy white dog plush clutched in her arms.
"So what do we do now?" Kudamon asked his partner as they walked back downstairs.
"Mm, I was thinking about working on a few things while those two are asleep," Kagome mused, "of course I'll need to have an afternoon snack ready for them and maybe some for everyone else, too…"
The~Ninth~Child
-That Evening-
"I'm home!" Kimi sang as she walked into the house, both arms laden with no less than three bags each.
"Nana!" Rin and Shippo shouted as they ran to their grandmother, Kagome following at a more sedate pace with Kudamon wrapped around her shoulders.
"Hello my little darlings!" Kimi squealed, dropping the bags she carried and caught the two toddlers running up to her. "They weren't too much, trouble, I hope?"
"You know they weren't," Kagome chuckled.
"Yeah, but even if they were," InuYasha spoke as he came in, his jacket hanging over his back from his hand, "You wouldn't tell us anyway."
"Your son possibly," Sesshomaru stated, still as immaculately dressed as he had been in the morning, "but my Rin knows better than to get into trouble."
"Which is another way of saying that she's a daddy's girl," Touga laughed.
"Daddy!" "Papa!"
Two the children ran over to their respective fathers, leaving the Taisho elders to greet Kagome with a hug each. "Now what really happened?"
"They painted on the sheet you gave me," Kagome told the adults, "But…when they were, uh, finished, they decided to, erm…paint each other…" She gave a sheepish smile.
Kimi and Touga could only look at the sheepish Kagome as Sesshomaru and InuYasha, having heard, looked at their children with their own looks of incredulity. Suddenly, everyone burst into laughter, the toddlers only laughing because everyone else was.
"Oh please tell me you have photos!" Touga gasped.
"I took a couple…" Kagome held out her cell to the adults.
With Shippo on one hip, InuYasha grabbed Kagome's phone and started scrolling through the pictures until they came to the ones she took of the toddlers…
…And promptly burst into gales of laughter once more with his family, well Sesshomaru was chuckling, but that was the most anyone could hope for from him.
"Who thought you'd get into so much trouble from so little material?" Touga chortled.
"Yeaaaaa-HEY!" InuYasha's eyes narrowed upon the screen. "Who the heck is this?!"
"Who?" Sesshomaru leaned over to look at the screen and his eye twitched.
"What's the mat—OH! WHO ON EARTH IS THAT LOVELY YOUNG MAN!" Kimi shrieked with glee.
"Young man?" Touga's tone was suspicious as he stalked over to the group huddled around Kagome's phone to take a look at whatever they were seeing. "Kitten~" he sang, looking over to the clueless raven-haired teen. "Why is there a young man holding you so close to him? PAPA WON'T LET HIS LITTLE KITTEN GO!"
(AN: Sorry, I really had to put a 'Protective Papa' moment in there…though it seemed more reminiscent of Amu's father' reactions from Shugo Chara.)
Kagome was baffled. "What are you looking at" She took her phone and looked at the photo in question and blushed. "Um, Kimi-Mama, Touga-Papa, this is just Sorcermon. Kudamon Digivolves into him using a special Digi-Egg." Kudamon blushed this time when he realized just what had been implied by the family.
The Taishos stared at the raven-haired girl.
"So he's not your boyfriend?" Kimi pouted.
Kagome shook her head in negative.
The males, with the exception of Sesshomaru, sighed in relief, while the toddlers looked on at their family with odd expressions.
"Is something wrong?" The teen asked slowly. 'Why the—Are they disappointed about something? Or was it something I did?'
"No, my dear, it wasn't you," Kimi sighed again as she took in the oblivious expression on the face of the girl she loved like a daughter. Her eyes glanced around and found the bags she dropped when she came into the house.
Kimi blinked.
"Prepare yourself," InuYasha muttered, "She's got a whole bunch of stuff she wants you to try on…"
Kimi grabbed the bags on one hand and took a hold of Kagome with the other. "I just remembered, I have some absolutely wonderful new creations I want you to model for me! You'll look absolutely darling in them!"
And with that said, she dragged the startled raven-haired teen upstairs.
Kudamon, who'd been left behind in Touga's arms looked on in astonishment. "What on earth just happened?"
"That was the unstoppable fashion force known as my wife," Touga replied dryly. "You see, because we weren't able to have any more children after InuYasha due to complications, Kimi, heck even I, have come to look at her as the daughter we never did but could have had. And I'll admit, that the both of us take whatever chance we have to spoil Kagome, no matter how much she protests against it."
"Most would worry about the child being spoiled becoming too pampered," Sesshomaru stated. "However, Kagome seems to be one of the very rare few that never seems to want for anything; a truly selfless person for someone so young."
InuYasha gaped at his brother as that was the most he'd ever said at once in a long time, while Touga ignored it and nodded in agreement.
"That's just the way Kagome is," Kudamon spoke softly, but loud enough for everyone to hear, "She always thinks of others before herself. And that is what makes her such a special person."
(AN: If you're wondering why Tai and Kari don't know about the Taisho's it mainly because neither really asked, thinking that Kagome's 'friends' were just people from her classes or something of the like.)
