'The'Thoughts

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BEGINNING!

AN: Okay so I looked over everything and I realized that I ended up placing part of another chapter into the original chapter 23 I'd posted, so I went back and decided to split it up, so this here will be short. Rather, it's the end half of the original posting I'd updated.

Anyway, enjoy the chapter!

Review, but if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all!

-The Ninth Child-

xX-The Emperor, Revealed-Xx

-Monday Afternoon; Hamasaki Academy Computer Lab-

"Ken Ichijouji is the Digimon Emperor?!" Izzy blinked at the group before him while Kagome stood beside him, a pensive expression on her face.

'So that's who it was,' the girl thought, 'I thought I knew him from somewhere!'

"Right," Davis nodded, "He's a genius all right, but he's an evil genius!"

"And a super evil genius at that!" DemiVeemon added.

"I just can't understand why someone so talented would use their gifts to hurt others," Cody shook his head.

"I know," Kari nodded, "He seemed so nice at first…"

"Do you remember what I told you?" Kagome asked.

Kari looked at her sister for a moment before smiling guiltily. "Sorry, I forgot…"

The raven-haired teen shook her head. "It's all right, but you need to remember that you can't always judge a book by its cover. In this case, Ken had a nice cover, so nice in fact that you didn't think to question the pages inside."

"I remember watching his interview on some show the other day," T.K muttered, "I think it was called the Genius Parade or something."

"How could the Digimon Emperor be a kid like us?" Kari asked quietly.

"If you think about it," Kagome spoke up, "it's not too hard to imagine. He looked around your age, even though he acted a little differently, and that was the biggest thing that gave him away, but we didn't put the pieces together until now."

Izzy who'd been quiet through the entire conversation spoke up. "I say we find him."

"WHAT?!" Davis blurted out. "Are you crazy?!"

"Find him?" T.K echoed.

The auburn-haired genius nodded. "We'll track him down and confront him outside of the Digital World."

"Izzy's right," the raven-haired teen agreed. "In the Digital World, he does what he pleases, but here in our world, he has to keep up appearances and has very little power here."

"Does this plan include a part where we get to eat?" Upamon asked.

"For you guys, anything," Izzy grinned before frowning. "Hey, I wonder where Yolei is?"

As if on cue, the lavender-haired girl came into the computer lab. "Hey there everyone! Guess what I've got?" She held up a small plastic bag full of food from her family's store.

One by one each of the Digimon, bar Kudamon, practically tackled the preteen to the ground to get to the goodies in the bag.

"I'm surprised they didn't eat my arm right off," Yolei blinked down at the group of Digimon munching on the food she'd brought. "Oh right, here, Kudamon, this one's for you!" She handed Kagome a packet of mini sugar cookies.

Both partner and Digimon thanked the girl as the raven-haired teen opened the packet and handed cookies to her Digimon.

"And before I forget," Yolei dug into her bag again and pulled out a magazine, "Here, there's an article of Ken in here."

"Gimme that!" Davis snatched the magazine out of her hand and started flipping through it.

"Hey!" Yolei snapped, sticking her finger in her mouth. "You gave me a paper cut!" she said around her finger.

"There he is, the evil kid," Davis said, finally finding the page that had an entire article on Ken Ichijouji.

"How could such a normal looking boy be someone so evil?" Cody commented.

"His smile makes him seem so gentle," Kari added.

"Don't forget what Kagome just told you," Kudamon warned them.

"Yeah," T.K nodded. "Except, his hair kinda makes him look like you, Kari!"

"You can't underestimate him, though," Kagome cautioned when Izzzy took a look at the article. "He looks normal and seems normal, but everything he does…there's just something off about it…"

"Well, in any case, I think I can locate the apartment building he's standing on front of in this picture using my mapping program," Izzy said, loading a disc into a computer terminal.

The group crowded around Izzy and watched as a map of Odaiba appeared on the screen, zooming in closer and closer until they could see the different districts in Odaiba. "If my calculations are correct, according to my program, the apartment building should be somewhere around…there." He used his cursor to circle around the general area where the building should be situated.

"Hey, I know that place pretty well," Kari piped up, pointing at a certain place in the area Izzy indicated.

"Hey!" Izzy said indignantly. "You smudged the screen!"

"I think there's an apartment building right there under Kari's fingerprint," Davis observed.

"Then let's check it out," T.K nodded.

-Kirako Apartments; Odaiba-

"So this is the place, huh?" Davis muttered, looking up at the tall building.

"I have a battle strategy all worked out right here," Cody mentioned, showing them a small notebook.

"Uh," Yolei looked in another direction, "Does it include the police?"

"Huh?" the group looked over towards where the sounds of sirens were coming from before following them to the front of the building.

"I think," they saw a man tell an officer, "that he's run away from home."

"Run away from home?" Cody asked.

"I bet I know where he's gone," Davis said.

'And I think I know why,' Kagome's eyes narrowed.
